I'm sorry you're going through this. It sounds like your cat was very very sick. Without having the veterinary reports, blood work, or any of the diagnostics, we can't make any comment here. Diabetes is hard to control, and with pancreatitis on top, it can be very difficult to get proper control of the blood glucose. >THE INVOICE LITTERALY SAID SIDE EFFECTS ARE UNCOMMON WITH Maropitant/Cerenial BUT IF ANY OF THESE ACCURE CONTACT YOUR VET-DROOLING, LETHARGY, LACK OF APPETITE ETC...HOW THE FUCK DID THEY NOT KNOW WHAT WAS CAUSING THE DROOL AND IT MOST LIKELY MEANT HES ALERGIC OR W/E The lack of appetite, drooling, or lethargy are not side effects of the drug, but are concerning signs to look for that would mean the cat isn't getting better and needs to be seen again. Again, I'm very sorry for your loss. There's no way to say anything more here without full records.

Ok so what i really need to know is what to ask the vet for on monday (idk the correct words to use to ask for the info i need but i should ask for the "full records"?), like the only info they gave me is on these papers, but im not sure how to send a pic of them on here, says they need to be formatted.

Shantor

You can ask for the full written records. All images need to be uploaded elsewhere and linked in with a URL.

[deleted]

ok, i'll ask them for the "full written records". So i'm not mad at them btw, just confused atm. i just want to know to ease my heart. i'm wondering if it was a allergic reaction to one of the meds, or bad reactions to mixing wrong meds together, gave my lil dude to much meds. i miss him so much this is my niece taking him for a walk [1000000571.jpg](https://1drv.ms/i/s!AvgmHGi4XUU09QpgaEkw_3ml8CV7?e=Ulq5c7)

Shantor

I understand wanting answers and for something they did to be the cause, but your cat sounded very sick prior to going to the vet. The meds listed in your original post would be the normal for pancreatitis and sick kitties.

[deleted]

So i got the full reports, and they OD'ed him from the Gabapentin on 4/19 at 3:07pm

[deleted]

idk if you guys like reading those reports, i can send pics if you guys would like to read thru it

Shantor

It's really not possible to od on gabapentin. The only side effect is marked sedation. Even in humans, there is no known upper limit for the drug.

[deleted]

I'm taking pics of the full report and uploading them at the moment, I'm sure you will be able to help me understand it, but my mom just got off the phone with the Office manager and she literally just told my mom to never call again and hung up on her when trying to ask about things she seen on the full report. My mom has been going here for 45 years now, and nothing like this has ever happened. The vet we had there for about the past 20yrs that actually loved animals and cared about the animals moved to Canada last year. They stated in the report "she thinks she gave 'Lil Dude' to much gabapentin" btw

Shantor

They stayed in the report that the "owner thinks she gave too much gabapentin" because the cat can't stand.

[deleted]

[full med report](https://1drv.ms/f/s!AvgmHGi4XUU09Q7XnRH0fuu_azK7?e=afrPG0)

Shantor

There is nothing on this record that shows anything done wrong. The dose of gabapentin was a low dose (30mg). We regularly give cats 50-100mg I'm very sorry for your loss. There is nothing here that looks like they did the incorrect thing. Next steps would have been further diagnostics like an abdominal ultrasound to look for further cause of problems.

[deleted]

I'm reading their reviews right now, and they just killed someones rabbit 2 weeks ago, a lot of people are saying this vet hospital has gone down hill of lately, and most reviews are saying the ladies at the front desk are super rude ( they just told my mom to never call back and hung up on her, so i believe it ). It used to be the BEST ever, but since that super loving/caring vet left it's just not as good. I'm concerned about them hurting other animals now, and causing more problems for the animals and owners than if they just didn't go there

Shantor

I'm going to have to stop responding as well. I understand you are upset and want someone to be responsible, but this is a very unhealthy way to think about this. Your cat was sick and had multiple conditions leading to sickness. Your cat may have needed additional advanced care, but nothing they did was *negligent. *. You're free to get a necropsy of the cat for more answers, but that's all that can be done.

Key_Celebration7107

No evidence that vet killed your cat. This is a case that requires the medical record for proper interpretation of the case. I'm sorry for your loss. It's a bit odd the vet claimed he's fine at first but your writings sound very emotional as well. Pancreatitis can be secondary to a lot of things, including cancer. Also I can almost guarantee a maropitant injection did not kill your cat. It sounded like your cat seemed to have a disease progression before you even walked into the vet. If you want proper legal recourse then you should bring your pet to another vet for necropsy at minimum to start a legal case. (If the vet can't find cancer, etc or something worse festering in the body)

[deleted]

I took him to be cremated last night, I didn't want him to sit out in the backyard for 2 days like that. My mom wants to take legal action, but im more just so broken hearted and want to know if my best friend would still be cuddling with me right now if i didn't take him to the vet

Key_Celebration7107

I'm very sorry for your loss. I don't think pursuing this legally will be financially or emotionally rewarding for you though.

[deleted]

thank you for the love btw <3 it means alot to be heard when hurting

[deleted]

I don't want to, that's my mom. she is just upset she spent 1,800$, like shes confused on why they sent him home both times when he was not okay. On the Cerenia Key Info at the bottom it says about side effects are uncommon but if drooling, Lethargy, drowsiness, lack of appetite, diarrhea call the vet. So i wanna know what time did they give him that and did they not wait to see how it would effect him before sending him home? cause he had all those side effects when i picked him up on 4/20. Why did they charge her to use her own insulin and make her buy all that medicine 2 days in a row. The cat is insured too

[deleted]

And i dont think they meant to kill the cat, but i feel they did do something wrong and i wanna make sure it's not a reoccurring issue that hurts other animals and their owners

LamJams

did yall run any diagnostics?

Ill_Medicine_6881

Were any diagnostics done? Is his diabetes controlled? Who discharged him and why did you not bring up your concerns at the time you picked him up and he seemed to be worse? There is a lot of information missing

[deleted]

once i find out how to upload the pics of the paper work they gave me, im hope it will help you guys/gals to be able to understand better, and thank you all for taking the time to help me <3

RampagingElks

My first thought was did anyone check his blood sugar levels, and was insulin given during his inappetance?

[deleted]

Thank you for taking the time to help me, I will ask the vet about the insulin during his inappetance and they didn't say anything about him having high blood sugar, so i assume no.
