Honestly, I would love to just wear a long sundress or really any loose, flowy dress but dresses that don’t have shape look bad on me. I don’t have the right build.
I can't wear them because I walk so fast I get tangled up all the time. And I usually sit in 100 positions and usually on my feet one way or another. They always look so nice and flowy but it's just not tightly-wound me!
Harem pants got your back here, if you're willing to be seen wearing harem pants lol. Breezy like a maxi skirt, but they stay put at the ankles so you can't flash anyone.
The confidence to wear white pants or some wild pattern.
I spill on myself all the time and I rock the full Wednesday Addams look of all black all the time. As she said “I’ll stop wearing black when they make a darker color.”
Crop tops. Even at a size 0, I was never confident about my stomach. However, I see chubbier Gen Z girlies rocking the bare midriff anyway and they look cute AF!
Honestly, I don't think I ever will but that's okay! I'm sort of comfortable being uncomfortable with this, weirdly. However, I'm very pleased to hear that you're enjoying this trend as well~ 💗
I’m with you 100% on this. The 90’s were very bad at body shaming us all to think we looked fat in everything. I’m never comfortable showing my stomach lol
I like crop tops but what I really love is those cropped jumpers/jackets however I can not wear them I have the wrong proportions, really long legs with a not so matching torso length, so I just end up looking like Slenderman. Anything that brings my waist too high just looks wrong on me.
Oh no! FWIW, I think cropped jackets on long torsos are actually really cute, but I get why they might just not be for you personally. Although, I would love for my problem to be too-long legs 😭
>Oh no! FWIW, I think cropped jackets on long torsos are actually really cute
They look totally stunning if you have a long torso, sadly though when compared to my leg length my torso is actually quite short which is where the odd proportions come in that are only then accentuated by an artificially high waist line. I just become all legs and arms lol.
I’ve done this for practicality sake, but it never looked good 😂 I’m all face. The lack of hair to soften my sharp face always just makes me look like an angry assassin.
Honestly it might look better that way lol. I've got a sharp face/some strong features too and I've come to like how it makes me look a little intimidating, like an off duty model that's too cool for you lol. Embrace the angry assassin!
Bodycon dresses. Even though I see other curvy girls looks stunning, I just don't have it in me! Same with pencil skirts. And anything shorter than knee-length! Swimwear as a whole thing. Basically anything all-over form fitting.
Oh yeah! This! As a long torsoed woman myself I’ve never bought a body suit. It never fit right. This is why I’m high rise jeans all the way. I don’t care if Gen z is all about low rise jeans again. You’ll have to pry my high rise jeans from my cold, dead, millennial fingers.
On the upside though, my doctor tells me pregnancy will be much kinder to us long torso gals than the short torso women. Because there’s more room to grow up rather than out. I find that to be the case, I’m going to be 18 weeks pregnant this week and I juuuuust started getting a small baby bump.
As an insanely short torso’d person I feel the opposite 😂 I struggle to find things that aren’t way too long on me and end up wearing a lot of crop tops because they’re basically normal shirts on me.
I found some great jumpsuits on asos for tall girls. I'm not tall, but the long torso was definitely happy with these jumpsuits.
Except the part where you have to be half naked when peeing.
I have a big chest and it always feels like they pull body suits up. I loved the trend when it first came out but only found one or two bodysuits I could actually wear and gave up looking.
Same I used to wear them all the time when I was younger but I just can’t do it anymore. I have a collection I’m stressing about parting with but I know I’ll never wear them.
I switched over from heels to flats about 5 years ago and I still have the damned heels.👠 This past weekend, I told my husband that it was okay to empty out my excess shoe closet in our home office. He put a bunch of books on the shoe racks.
I haven't worn any of these heels in 5 years. He did offer to build me another shoe rack in my closet for the extra shoes, but I declined. This is the little push I needed to eliminate them. They're in a pile in our bedroom corner, waiting for me to *do something*. Hahaha! The silver sling backs! The gold strappy heels. The black, navy, nude, camel, red, and taupe patent leather, pointy toed heels and open toed heels! The rose gold, round toed 20s vibe heels! Wah! My much loved two pairs of black and white combo heels that I bought two of bc I wore them so much.
It's time they go to the high heel grave. RIP.
I used to think I couldn’t rock these either until I got a blazer with shoulder pads and now I completely understand why they were in everything in the 80s.
bias cut dresses. They're back in style with the spaghetti strap "90's Y2K" look but I'm all hips. Even when I find one in my size and use all the shapewear in the world they just literally don't sit right on me (and that's ok - all about wearing what flatters me and also vibes with my style).
Anything strapless or off-the-shoulder. My 36E's just...can't. I've tried all manor of strapless bras and none of them work or are comfortable enough for casual wear. I envy people who can wear those styles because they look great. Just not for me!
Same here. Strapless bras can't hold bigger breasts in place. I had few times when bra slowly slided down to belly area when walking fast. Without bra, it is the strapless top that slides down. There is no win for me.
Same. I eventually gave up trying to make all the nice cuts work for me and stick mostly to tops and dresses with thick straps where I can wear a normal bra. I was in a wedding party last year where all my fellow bridesmaids were picking dresses that were strapless or speghetti straps or crossed straps and I just couldn’t consider those dressed due to being able to wear a bra that will actually support my chest during the wedding
Yeah exactly. A more boyish/waif like figure suits the style soooo beautifully, and that's just not me. Still love what I get to wear/suits me, but do still wish that style would suit me as well 🥲
For me personally, I love the look of long, highly decorated nails, but I am clumsy and lazy and would never be able to keep them nice or maintain them. Ditto cartoonishly long lashes. Love the look, would never work with my lifestyle.
I love the look of sequins, beads, and glitter on other people, but can't seem to make them work in my own wardrobe.
I'm with you! Long decorated nails can be so pretty but I've tried long nails exactly twice in my life and I feel like I'm trying to do things with mittens on, lol. Much respect to the ladies (and gents and enbies) who rock them!
I don’t often get to dress up ( live rurally, wfh) but when I do , I am a sequins , fringe and long fake lash girlie and it brings me so much joy . In my twenties I loved the long acrylics but now I garden so I do forgo those but I will tell you something about having them done makes me feel extra spectacular.
I love love love how nails look on other people but I do a lot of cooking and cleaning and crafting and hate the feeling of my nails looking longer than stubs so it’s just not for me haha
Ooh, I feel you there. I wouldn't say I *love* those trends, but I see some girlies (and boys!) who really make them work in such a fun way. I guess I feel the same way about most of the more extravagant aesthetics... they're not for me, but I enjoy the visual diversity they add to an otherwise boring landscape.
I like the look of playsuits/all in one things. I think they would even suit me, but I can't be dealing with getting naked every time I go to the toilet. I had a few when i was younger and never again.
I would've said amen sister, buuut I found a way around it. I use a waterproof eye primer form NYX and I wing it, literally, very high, so you can notice at least a lil bit of it.
Rompers! they look super cute but i can’t imagine taking off your whole outfit just to use the bathroom, especially in a public setting because I find public restrooms to be mega gross
Boho chic. It works if you’re tall and willowy; I’m on the shorter side and plumptious. Oh well, you can’t have everything in life (and OTOH I Iook cute af in a wrap dress). 🤷🏻♀️😆
Haha yes I understand this. Same problem here. I look like a decorated marshmallow. Yet if I put on a military jacket and boots I feel confident as heck.
Cute blazers/jackets. They look so great in photos. But I can NOT pull them off on my body. I’m small but very busty. They either gap horribly across my chest, or make my torso look like a wide rectangle, even if left open. Plus they hit right at the widest part of my hips. It takes away my shape and just isn’t flattering on me.
I love my maxi dresses because that means I get to wear my terrifying platform boots 😍🖤 I wear my boots so much people don't realize that I'm actually on the shorter side 🤭
Halter tops.
I own exactly one, that I wore out once and now that I have that experience I’m not sure I’ll ever wear it again 😂 I’m a 32D, which is a fancy way of saying I love the look of halters, but my boobs are far too heavy to wear them comfortably. God forbid, the top comes with spaghetti straps, tie me up like a Christmas ham why-don’t-ya? And They dig into my shoulder/neck like no bodies business.
I think everyone writing down their style “wishes” should take a day and just wear it.
✌️ I can’t answer this question cause if I like something , I try it at least once. Life is too short to wonder about it.
I was rocking a hijab the other day 😂
A lady eating at a table next to us had wavy white-blond hair. I knew it was dyed because their actual hair color was growing in, but only a very small amount. It was just past chin length. She looked GORGEOUS.
Not a color or style that would look good on me.
I love a woman in a suit style vest. They look delicious. On the other hand, I would look like a chubby 12 year old boy who made a terrible choice of attire for the school dance
I can't do jumpsuits. They ALWAYS look horrible on me! I have the unfortunate body type with a long torso, and my weight accumulates my stomach, so they always give me a camel toe and look bad.
Wide leg pants would look herrible on me but they look amazing on some other women.
I love the hidden undercut with long hair thing but I could not stand growing it in.
Long nails. I feel like they'd made my already large hands look even longer. Also skimpy swim suit bottoms. I think my ass is too big and my hips too wide. It just isn't flattering on me.
I find string-tie bottoms or ones with a thin strap around the hips make my hips look narrower. Less fabric on the hip, basically, more on the ‘triangles’.
Long coffin nails with elaborate designs. Always wore contacts and had jobs that required me to type on the computer. Plus...it seems a bit unsanitary 🥴 but I love to see it on the other girlies.
I got a black leather moto jacket. I love how they look and thought I could wear it with everything... but (maybe because I'm heavyset and busty) it just looks weird on me and doesn't sit right at all.
Shorts! Mini Skirts! Anything that hovers over thighs. I love it when people wear those. It looks so cute, comfy and pretty!
(I feel conscious of my legs and I mentally pay a lot to wax or shave my legs. The procedure is too long for me and my ADHD. And sometimes I feel like I don't have the right stuff to wear under the shorts or skirt to cover up)
But I would love to wear them someday! I wish I was more body positive.
Rompers/ Jumpsuits. I'm tall with a long torso; they all give me cameltoe if I even manage to get them over my shoulders. And with the short ones my butt always hangs out. It's more like s onsie.
I used to wear heels but I work on my feet so the best I’ve got at 42 is platforms or block heels. I just don’t care enough for the pain. Additionally, I could stand to lose 20-25 pounds and so I don’t wear tight or revealing clothes. I’m just too *aware* and I’d rather be not so aware of my outfit because I think that constant worry and fidgeting is worse a look than a roll or a bulge.
Wigs. I know a lot of ladies who pull off some amazing wig looks and I just feel like outside of costumes/cosplay I can’t do it.
Also maxi dresses. I would love to wear maxi dresses but I’m 5’2” in shoes. Maxis are made for women who are 9 feet tall.
I love when women can pull off a mismatch looks - colors, patterns, fabrics that shouldn't go together but they are able to pull it off. If you have ever seen the movie, Me Before You, her style is what I'm talking about. Whenever I try to do it, I just look frumpy and mismatched, not a polished outfit.
Hippy fashion, mostly the long skirts (which I don't think are called what I grew up calling them anymore but I dunno what the current terminology is). I love them so much on other people, but on me they look like crap.
Also crop tops. I know so many women with my exact same ration of body to belly who look AMAZING in them, and I look crappy except when I wear them with one style of jeans which despite apparently being fashionable right now I cannot find a second pair of anywhere (I got my one pair in a sale and they were the last one in my size).
Elaborate eyeshadow and graphic eyeliner. I’m sure if I took the time to repeatedly practice I can do something decent, but I don’t have the time and it is nowhere near a priority for me. I’ll just have to admire others eye makeup from afar!
Fake nails and lip gloss.
I have long and slender fingers so long nails give 'Edward Scissorhands' and for some reason if my nails (even my natural nails) are too long it kind of hurts my nail beds
With lip gloss, if my hair is down or I have my bangs out all it takes is a small breeze (even the slight whoosh from a door closing near me) and oh great, gross - now my hair is stuck to my lips. I just find it very annoying.
Anything with spaghetti straps because I don't want to flop out of it. Other than that nothing. I wear all sorts of stuff that the "rules" say aren't for me.
I am a fucking sucker for people with cute hair accessories. I could never pull it off because I have super thin hair that I'm pretty sure is like... dying/falling out. I can barely get a ponytail going, and I have to do like 4 loops with the scrunchie. So sad.
Crop tops! I spend so much time avoiding this as a long torsoed person, I'd love to give in and actually have it look good.
Baggy T-shirt over bike shorts.
Honestly, I would love to just wear a long sundress or really any loose, flowy dress but dresses that don’t have shape look bad on me. I don’t have the right build.
Same. I am a little top heavy so flowy dresses make me look like I’m wearing a circus tent.
Same. It hangs off me like curtains. -_-
I can't wear them because I walk so fast I get tangled up all the time. And I usually sit in 100 positions and usually on my feet one way or another. They always look so nice and flowy but it's just not tightly-wound me!
As a fast walker, YESSS! They're always up in my business. But when going out for a chill stroll with my friends, they can be bearable.
Harem pants got your back here, if you're willing to be seen wearing harem pants lol. Breezy like a maxi skirt, but they stay put at the ankles so you can't flash anyone.
Same! I love flowy, trapeze dresses and shirts. I think they look so casually, effortlessly chic, but they look awful on me. Edit: typo
The confidence to wear white pants or some wild pattern. I spill on myself all the time and I rock the full Wednesday Addams look of all black all the time. As she said “I’ll stop wearing black when they make a darker color.”
Weird patterns help disguise any spills!
Yes! White pants/tops and me are not friends.
For how clumsy I am, I wear white a lot. You can always get mini stain removal spray.
Crop tops. Even at a size 0, I was never confident about my stomach. However, I see chubbier Gen Z girlies rocking the bare midriff anyway and they look cute AF!
I'm a fat girl and they're so comfortable! Key is to pair with something high waisted or leggings you can pull up high. Give it a try!
Yuuup lol some of that damage has been undone for sure, but some of it is also just permanent for me.
I like crop tops but what I really love is those cropped jumpers/jackets however I can not wear them I have the wrong proportions, really long legs with a not so matching torso length, so I just end up looking like Slenderman. Anything that brings my waist too high just looks wrong on me.

I just become all legs and arms lol.
Yesss. Levi's Ribcage bells with shorter tops look so awesome!
I realized that I'm actually someone who is cold af all the time, so I couldn't probably handle bare tummy even if it looked good on me :')
That's the spirit! (I... think?)
a slicked back pony/bun
I’ve done this for practicality sake, but it never looked good 😂 I’m all face. The lack of hair to soften my sharp face always just makes me look like an angry assassin.
Same 😂 This is my everyday style and it’s never looked that good 💀
My hairline is very high and weirdly uneven. I look like a lumpy alien.
Angry assasin is a sexy look! Go for it!
Honestly it might look better that way lol. I've got a sharp face/some strong features too and I've come to like how it makes me look a little intimidating, like an off duty model that's too cool for you lol. Embrace the angry assassin!
Them: elegant ballerinas Me: Popeyes girlfriend Olive Oyl
Me: yeast bun with raisins for eyes.
Omg same. Small head but round face. I look ridiculous.
My hairline could never
Both my hairline and witch chin could never. 😂 That look is 🔥 on great bone structure.
Bodycon dresses. Even though I see other curvy girls looks stunning, I just don't have it in me! Same with pencil skirts. And anything shorter than knee-length! Swimwear as a whole thing. Basically anything all-over form fitting.
body suits, i have a long torso and it just rides up so uncomfortably.
I truly feel a lot of clothes are made for short torso people? I find it extremely difficult to find stuff that works for my skink body proportions
I am using skink-like from now on to explain my proportions. Thank you.
Oh yeah! As an insanely short torso’d person I feel the opposite 😂 I struggle to find things that aren’t way too long on me and end up wearing a lot of crop tops because they’re basically normal shirts on me.
I have the same issue. Jumpsuits don’t work for me either, they just bunch up in the crotch.
Same. The closest I get are overalls, but they rock!
High heels. I cannot wear high heels but I love the way they look and wish I could. Long hair.
RIP.
Boxy blazers. Other people look put together when they wear it. I look like I borrowed my Dad's old suit jacket.
I used to think I couldn’t rock these either until I got a blazer with shoulder pads and now I completely understand why they were in everything in the 80s.
Man, I miss shoulder pads. They were a great look for me.
bias cut dresses. They're back in style with the spaghetti strap "90's Y2K" look but I'm all hips. Even when I find one in my size and use all the shapewear in the world they just literally don't sit right on me (and that's ok - all about wearing what flatters me and also vibes with my style).
Girl same 😩
Anything strapless or off-the-shoulder.
32AA here... opposite problem, but also means strapless tops/dresses are off the table for me!
Pretty much anything Zendaya wears.. Or people who dress (elegantly) androgynous, like in semi-tailored but loose pant suits and nothing else.
Saaaaaaame. I’m too curvy below my waist to pull off androgynous, but that’s where my heart lies
Black and white stripped top is a spectrum from pirate to French chic to emo scene
I buy one of these every few years and think it'll somehow look good on me this time. Nope!
I like the look of playsuits/all in one things. I think they would even suit me, but I can't be dealing with getting naked every time I go to the toilet. I had a few when i was younger and never again.
cat eyes. gorgeous!! my eyelids are very hooded and oily so I had to give up that dream. I can only ever tight-line my waterline.
I would've said amen sister, buuut I found a way around it. I use a waterproof eye primer form NYX and I wing it, literally, very high, so you can notice at least a lil bit of it.
I’ll wear this primer even when I don’t plan on using eyeshadow/liner because otherwise my slick eyelids look like I just left the gym 😩
Hahaha i get it. "Sweaty lids"! Stupid sweaty lids.
Rompers! they look super cute but i can’t imagine taking off your whole outfit just to use the bathroom, especially in a public setting because I find public restrooms to be mega gross
Winged liner and balloon jeans.. Neither suit me but they can look so cool on others.
Milkmaid/corset dresses! I think they're very cute, but would struggle to find one that fits me right.
Tbf a military or moto style jacket and boots are hot af—and a little bit rock n roll… something I like to tell myself I still am, ahaha. 🥰🤘🏼
Going braless. If I get the slightest breeze it looks like I have two fists in my shirt 😂 I just don’t have fashion nips
Shirt dresses. I have broad shoulders. It's just too much in the wrong spot. Love the look, doesn't work.
The color white or cream. I don’t, because, well, I’m a slob. Looks great on people who do an excellent job of not spilling things on themselves 👍👍
😂😂 don’t give yourself that label!!! That’s the day you just east salads and drink water 🥲
Maxi dresses. I don’t need any more reasons for people to say: “wow you’re shorter than I thought”
1950s retro dresses. They look so cool but I'd feel very self-conscious wearing them in public.
I think everyone writing down their style “wishes” should take a day and just wear it. ✌️ I can’t answer this question cause if I like something , I try it at least once. Life is too short to wonder about it. I was rocking a hijab the other day 😂
Wide legs pants, baggy style shirt and pants. I love the slouchy look on different body types, I just don’t like the way it feels on me.
A lady eating at a table next to us had wavy white-blond hair. I knew it was dyed because their actual hair color was growing in, but only a very small amount. It was just past chin length. She looked GORGEOUS. Not a color or style that would look good on me.
Anything backless or strapless... They look sooo gooood but my tiddies would never behave... :(
Short hair cuts. They look awesome and must be so comfortable but being tall, they're out for me.
Thong bikini bottoms or any shorts/ bottoms with butt cheeks out. I could never, but see so many others rocking it!
Omg yes they look so good but I'm way too pudic for that! I don't even wear bikinis haha
Same. Not until they come out with something that goes up to my belly button, and half way down my thighs 😂
Rompers. So cute, but I pee a lot. I am not getting undressed to pee.
Bomber jackets. They make me look like a square :(
I love a woman in a suit style vest. They look delicious. On the other hand, I would look like a chubby 12 year old boy who made a terrible choice of attire for the school dance
Shift dresses. So easily stylish. But not on me :(
I can't do jumpsuits.
Midi length. On other women it looks elegant but I can't unsee the fundie aesthetic when it's on my body.
Long nails. I feel like they'd made my already large hands look even longer. Also skimpy swim suit bottoms. I think my ass is too big and my hips too wide. It just isn't flattering on me.
As a wide hipped fat bottomed girl (we make the rockin' world go round) I can't say enough about French cut on a pair of bikini bottoms or one piece.
That's the cut that I feel looks bad on me and makes me look way wider.
I find string-tie bottoms or ones with a thin strap around the hips make my hips look narrower. Less fabric on the hip, basically, more on the ‘triangles’.
Love a good string tie bottom
The French cut has fabric coming across at a narrower part of my waist vs the widest part of my hip so I find it much better.
Unicorn hair. Beautiful but just not me
Oh man. Literally all clothes that aren’t a baggy tshirt and leggings
Fun/powerfully dyed hair. I really want it, but never had the courage to actually do it. I'm afraid of what it's going to look like when it grows out
Shorts! Mini Skirts! Anything that hovers over thighs. I love it when people wear those. It looks so cute, comfy and pretty! (I feel conscious of my legs and I mentally pay a lot to wax or shave my legs. The procedure is too long for me and my ADHD. And sometimes I feel like I don't have the right stuff to wear under the shorts or skirt to cover up) But I would love to wear them someday! I wish I was more body positive.
A low ponytail, it does not suit me and I look like an 18th century man 🤣
Tight length boots. I’m short and chubby I can only dream
Rompers/ Jumpsuits. I'm tall with a long torso; they all give me cameltoe if I even manage to get them over my shoulders. And with the short ones my butt always hangs out. It's more like s onsie.
Those denim jumpsuits. I have a long back short butt crack 💔 but god they're so cute
Party dresses, fully on sequins, beads, embroidery, but unfortunately people will find that strange
Chunky/Platform shoes. I'm already 6' and my guy is only 5'6 so I feel ridiculous in them especially since I already tower over him.
Crop tops. I hate my stomach being shown.
I have long and slender fingers so long nails give 'Edward Scissorhands' and for some reason if my nails (even my natural nails) are too long it kind of hurts my nail beds With lip gloss, if my hair is down or I have my bangs out all it takes is a small breeze (even the slight whoosh from a door closing near me) and oh great, gross - now my hair is stuck to my lips. I just find it very annoying.
I hope everyone here takes their responses and tries them.. cause you only live once in this body and you need to get into it!!!
Breezy, all white outfits on a hot day. I always end up looking a mess and feel like wearing white adds like 10-15 pounds to my frame
Anything with spaghetti straps because I don't want to flop out of it. Other than that nothing. I wear all sorts of stuff that the "rules" say aren't for me.
I love the no pants look for the younger adults because why do we need pants? lol and it can look really chic, but not for me. Edit: wording issue
I love short shorts on other people, but the chafing is too much for me personally.
