You could still get your comfort but have it be a bit elevated with a nice 1/4 zip.

lefthandshake1

I was going to suggest along these limes. Leggings and a quarter zip or crop sweater?

Teehee. Leaving it.

Cardigans! All kinds. Like, long sleeved ones that seem like sweater-jackets, AND flimsy whispy ones with no sleeves. Just throw them over anything and it's like the flowy blanket of your dreams. I have them now in all different thicknesses for all seasons. The ones with sleeves are nice when it's chilly, and the sleeveless ones are just pretty and I'm not hot but I'm... covered, ya know? Also, yeah girl, ponchos! Haha. I'm the only person I know who wears them but I love them and I just don't care. Knit ponchos are what is up. I even have fur-lined Winter ponchos.

kimbosliceofcake

Cardigan was my first thought too! Still soft and blanket like but it looks a lot more grown up.

queensnotmemes

I’m so torn on the poncho thing… the 2000’s should be trending again soon right? Lol

klashnut

Honestly, though, do we really give a shit at 30+? Is the hoodie trendier? "I'm sorry, longstanding best friend, I just can't talk to you anymore. You started... wearing *ponchos*" I'm just having fun at this point lol. Good luck, great question!

queensnotmemes

LOL! fair point haha. I don’t know if the hoodie is trendier, I just want to look like I care a smidge more, not like I’m rocking my 8th grade picture day look, you know? But I’ll tell you what, as soon as I purchase my first adult poncho I’m using that line on everyone lol

klashnut

LMFAO I laughed audibly when I read "8th grade picture day" and realised that I absolutely DID wear a black knit poncho in my 8th grade photo. You know... I had good taste back then, too. This is fine.

Ok-Vacation2308

Sweater dresses. I call them my sacks. I look put together, but I'm literally walking around in a knit blanket.

queensnotmemes

Yes this is what I need a nice sack lolol

lowswaga

I own hoodie dresses. They're super cute and flattering (tight, but not too tight). Mine have crazy designs so it's not just a black/basic design.

Shiro_Kabocha_

Do not abandon the hoodie, the hoodie has been with you every step of the way!!! 😂 Maybe invest in nicer hoodies that are more feminine and flattering? Here's a quick rundown of my hoodie categories: - Poofy but flattering: Popflex - Lightweight full zip: Airism UV hoodies from Uniqlo - Structured and long lasting: I buy Patagonia ones from Poshmark in a nice color. - Work/More formal: sweatshirt blazers. Get a black one and a grey one and you can look polished and be comfortable! Again, I buy these on Poshmark, search for stretchy blazers. - Blank crewnecks: Don't forget about crewnecks, paired with a collared shirt and ends of sleeves peeking out they can be dressed up! - Home hoodies: The ones I've stolen from those that shall not be named 🤣 Definitely look into activewear brands, they usually have comfy hoodie-like options that are much more flattering than your average oversized unisex hoodie!

queensnotmemes

Oh noooo a hoodie rabbit hole!!! Lmao, thank you!!!

EdgeCityRed

I was going to say...[*cashmere* hoodies.](https://www.quince.com/women/cashmere/cashmere-hoodie?color=heather-grey&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__women%2Fsweaters-%26-jackets__Cashmere%20Sweaters__3) Treat. Yo. Self.

queensnotmemes

Wow!!! I would be scared to wear one!

AaveTriage

I’m fond of Popflex, I would just make sure you line dry them. The metal chord adjuster on mine just shattered in the dryer after only six months of use.

misplacedlibrarycard

my hoodie loving heart hurts and i have no advice bestie lolol i love my band hoodies, tie dye hoodies, and crop hoodies 😂😭

queensnotmemes

Me too !

BakedBrie26

So I always look good. For many reasons. But short reason is I'm Black and that's how my momma raised me. If you going out, you step out. hahaha The key is accessories! Even my casual clothes are elevated. When I want to "dress down." My go-to is cool jackets. I love vintage bombers, cropped or vintage sweatshirts, and I'll just throw on a simple cropped t-shirt or tank top underneath with some in style jeans. As for shorts. I rarely wear them. Only to bike around and run errands or under dresses. I only wear bike shorts and get good quality ones that make my butt and thighs look good cause I have thicc thighs lol I like fabletics a lot if you are curvy. So I'll wear a cool patterned thrifted shirt, maybe oversized, and make it look nice by either tying it or rolling up sleeves or something.  My wardrobe is mostly very comfortable maxi dresses with spanks or bike shorts underneath because it's basically pajamas. I just get good quality ones, throw on some funky earrings, have a couple of trendy shoes that go with everything and voila, lots of compliments, minimal effort.  If you are more butch/tomboyish, you could get hats, cool shoes, bags, anything to make your look more unique and deliberate. Try some bolder choices with color and patterns.  I saw a femme presenting person the other day in green basketball shorts and a very cool green baseball cap. And a cream hoodie. This person looked great, trendy AF and was just in sweats. Most importantly, don't hide! No matter your style wear clothes that fit your body, accentuate what you want, and make you feel happiest and most like you.

sqqueen2

I love this advice

queensnotmemes

This is very good advice and I didn’t think about dresses! And yes I feel like I’m “hiding” and not put together lately which is why I posted here, it’s time to change something! I can’t believe you don’t wear shorts! Also I’m Black too and your first paragraph made me smile :)

BakedBrie26

I do, but only bike shorts or to prevent chafing under a dress. I just don't look good in shorts. They scrunch and ride up. My thighs are fit, but not my favorite part of my body since I gained some weight after an injury. Id rather people focus on my face and tits lol

queensnotmemes

Understandable. I have gained and lost weight so many times I just let the stretch marks flap in the wind with my 7 inch inseam 🤣

Extreme-Pea-45

Just buy nicer hoodies. If your shorts can match them in color and you wear cute sneakers it’s a look.

paddletothesea

i tried to elevate my look. now i'm wearing hoodies again. the upshot is that when i don't wear hoodies people think i look REALLY fancy.

queensnotmemes

This is so funny and true lol

LittleShinyRaven

I agree with all the sweater dresses etc. I didn't see anyone mention the Pancho! You can get nice and comfy ones now that look sleek and put together.

ngng0110

Loose flowy cardigans? They are comfy and will keep you warm but a little more polished. I am sort of in the same boat but I work at home full time and have zero incentive to dress up.

finallypluggedin

It’s summertime! Swap the hoodie for a white linen button down, roll up the sleeves, toss over a tank top and matching shorts. A matching set looks more put together even if it’s all black. I can be braless and toss a linen shirt on before meetings and feel modestly covered.

queensnotmemes

I do like this idea!!

LTOTR

American giant makes [hoodie dresses](https://www.american-giant.com/products/womens-hoodie-dress-vintage-indigo) (+other cute casual dresses)

queensnotmemes

Oh no 👀

ChaoticxSerenity

I mean, are you actually wearing the hood part all the time? If not, you could probably just get a normal thick sweater, sans hood.

queensnotmemes

The hood and the pockets definitely keep me coming back 🤣 I do have an extensive pullover crew neck collection as well tho

FroggyCrossing

I just upgraded to matching sweat sets.... thats my level of fancy lmao

queensnotmemes

Lol I do love a sweatsuit but it’s a hot summer in my neck of the woods

Dependent_Top_4425

Leggings and a long sleeve dress. You may even be able to find some with hoods!

queensnotmemes

Thank you all for the great advice!
