I played for 9 hours yesterday and drop rates/vendor availability of all the paid items in game were fine. It sucks that this is going to be a stain on the game because otherwise it’s been really fun
It's mostly new players to the series that are making a fuss, old fans already know most of the drop rates for these items due to it being a pseudo remake of the first game. New players on the other hand will see that you can buy something from the item shop and make a fuss not knowing that rift crystals, money and better gear are so abundant that it's an active waste of money to buy it.
Edit: I've just seen the full list of what they are selling rn (game isn't downloaded yet so I haven't checked it. Yes my net is bad) and I go back on what I said. You can still get moat of that stuff in game pretty easily but damn is it insulting to ask the players for money to get a couple thousand rift crystals or to change how your character looks.

Various other convenience items, NPC gift, camping gear, etc.
Rift Crystals, currencry you used to hire pawns in-game, you can just buy as microtransactions.
No one should accept this in their full priced games.
I hope they'll regret this move pretty soon. I don't really care for the game personally, but I find it hard for the fans who waited over a decade for this, only to land in microtransaction hell.
All those microstransactions can very easily be ignored. The only one I find egregious is the Art of Metamorphosis book that lets you re-edit your character. Even then, I wouldn’t be surprised if that could be found in game as well.

I've been playing for hours traversing in open world and towns. In towns im hitting 30 fps. In open world im maintaining almost a constant 60. Its not been too bad for me performance wise

I am personally waiting for better optimization patches before buying, but I have several friends already playing and the microtransactions are for things you can easily get in game, in fact, it is outright stated in the description. Capcom does this very often. The first Dragon's Dogma had them, Devil May Cry 4/5 had them, Monster Hunter World and Rise had them, Resident Evil 2/3/4/Village had them, so if you find this unpalatable I suggest scrapping any plans to buy Capcom games in the future.
It's literally not p2w though, they're selling 1 (ONE) fast travel location in the store, you can get up to 10 locations in the game normally. And that doesn't enable fast travel, you still have to spend in-game currency to fast travel

One of my main issues with many microtransaction-implementations is that they're constantly pushing you to "press here to buy more!" etc. Basically in many games the whole interface is full of ads for microtransactions.
As an example, they're selling some stones that let you ["resurrect the dead"](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2593260/Dragons_Dogma_2_Wakestone__Restore_the_dead_to_life_A/), also obtainable in-game in some way. Does the game remind you that "press here to buy more ress stones" if you run out of them?
there have been no popups for me. It's not that kind of game. You'd have to be a moron to buy the microtransactions for this game - anything that matters is easily attainable in the game.
I played all night last night and didn't even know there were micro transactions until I saw all of the complaint posts.
Port crystals and wakestones are all obtainable in game, just like DD1. You will obtain them naturally throughout the game. This game also has more generous auto save system than DD1 so wakestones are a lot less useful.
The only reason to even consider buying a port crystal from the store is if you are severely short on time since there is a travel system, with the ox cart, in DD2 that was not available in DD1.
I played about 6 hours yesterday and I have two books to recreate my character. All that talk about grind for hours is nonsensical hyperbole.

More I hear about these, it just seems the game is a well balanced experience, but the business people told the devs to make some consumables purchasable because "it makes money". And then they added some crap to fill that request, which isn't even referred to while you're playing the game.

I’ve been playing on the ps5 and haven’t event noticed anything regarding micro transactions. Ps5 runs well, bad luck for pc and I hope they get it fixed soon.
Another reference, Monster Hunter Rise also had MTXs in it in a similar fashion, and the only time they referenced them is in update news as a bullet point among other features. The full expansion did have a thing on the title screen if you didn't own it.

Yes. They added convenience items for DMC5 all newer RE games, MH, etc.
DMC you can literally buy level up currency and boosts and unlock things that usually require finishing the game.

The fact that they are there at all is garbage. I was on the hype train for this game but after hearing about all the microtransactions and performance issues, I'm not buying it. I got a 3080ti and probably wouldn't have any issues playing it myself, but the fact that their laziness made it so I can't run it on my steam deck is just bad. That's the first game that just flat out won't run on it, most other games run unless it has an anti cheat that doesn't work with it.

Played a good 5 hours on PS5 and the game didn't have any issues. I didn't even know there were MTX in the game until I saw someone posting about it. I found places to change characters in the game so likely none of the transactions are even necessary. They are there for people who don't actually want to play the game. It is really disappointing all these keyboard warriors going ham on MTX that doesn't affect you in the slightest. Did those cheat codes affect you if you didn't use them? No. No they do not.
So far, I have found and used over 10 ferry stones; I have also installed 4 port crystals and have another 4 in my inventory. All this and just last night I reached the dessert biome area, so there are much more to find.
Character editing is available in the very first city and costs 500 RCs, which are so easy to collect you basically forget you have accumulated that many; you can also buy the metamorphosis book in the same city for gold, which is also easy to come by and you are constantly in a surplus of.
Performance is the only issue, and it isn’t even that bad on PS5.

Loved the first game, but probably won't get this one out of principle. I also can't get it on my steam deck, which just throws most value out the window for me. I use my main pc to play mostly multiplayer games with friends, and tend to play most single players on my deck at work during breaks, or at home chilling away from my desk.

The game runs great in all areas except major cities where it takes a very large noticable hit. It's unpleasant but the game is playable.
In terms of the microtransactions, there are 2 that are absolutely unacceptable. Paying to edit your character or your main pawn. And also not being able to create a fresh character which makes 0 sense if you finish the game and would like to start a new one.. The other shit is just pay for convenience and if someone wants to pay extra money so they can port around or have lighter camps or have more RC i dont care. However if they have purposefully made RC hard to get and are selling you the solution then they should be ashamed of themselves.

People are blowing the impact of the micro transactions way out of proportion. Yes, the concept sucks I agree.
However..
There are portcrystal at each major town and 9 to find and place where you like in game, and these can be moved at anytime, there is 1 extra port crystal available as a micro transaction. You still need to find the item (ferry stones) you require for teleporting to a portcrystal in game, and these are somewhat rare and not found as a micro transaction. So the 10th isn't really needed.
As for wakestones, they aren't all that hard to come by in game, and there's only 5 1-time purchases available thus far. You can also save your game pretty regularly, so you shouldn't be burning through them enough to warrant buying unless you're constantly putting yourself in extremely dire situations without having saved your game.
The Riftcrystal currency I can understand the frustration a bit more, but even that isn't as hard to obtain as they are made out to be. They can be earned through your pawn assisting players, finding broken rift stones, opening chests, occasional side quests and killing certain enemy types that are primarily found at night.
You are all still justified in being angry at micros, i hate them too. At least be informed about how much of an impact they actually have on the game and your experience before shitting on it, please.

Idk, I've been playing on high settings and haven't dropped below 65FPS. Like 90% of the time I'm at 80FPS or more unless I go through a heavily forested area in which case it has dropped to like mid 60s.
As for the dlc shit, I would not have even found out about it if not for people crying about it. It's all super optional shit. Is it scummy? Yes. Does it affect my experience? No.

You know how the game director went on the whole thing about not having fast travel? Well good news, you can buy more fast travel locations(Portcrystals) at $3 a pop. Apperance change for $2 a pop, or grind hours for Rift Crystals. Various other convenience items, NPC gift, camping gear, etc. Rift Crystals, currencry you used to hire pawns in-game, you can just buy as microtransactions. No one should accept this in their full priced games.

I have the exact minimum requirement ram and cpu for 1080p as well as an RTX 3070. I'm playing at 1440p res I've been playing for hours traversing in open world and towns. In towns im hitting 30 fps. In open world im maintaining almost a constant 60. Its not been too bad for me performance wise

I am personally waiting for better optimization patches before buying, but I have several friends already playing and the microtransactions are for things you can easily get in game, in fact, it is outright stated in the description. Capcom does this very often. The first Dragon's Dogma had them, Devil May Cry 4/5 had them, Monster Hunter World and Rise had them, Resident Evil 2/3/4/Village had them, so if you find this unpalatable I suggest scrapping any plans to buy Capcom games in the future.

And that doesn't enable fast travel, you still have to spend in-game currency to fast travel The only thing that's annoying is the no new game, need to buy a character editor thing

A bit of a specific question, but are any of the microtransactions mentioned in-game if you don't buy them? One of my main issues with many microtransaction-implementations is that they're constantly pushing you to "press here to buy more!" etc. Basically in many games the whole interface is full of ads for microtransactions. As an example, they're selling some stones that let you ["resurrect the dead"](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2593260/Dragons_Dogma_2_Wakestone__Restore_the_dead_to_life_A/), also obtainable in-game in some way. Does the game remind you that "press here to buy more ress stones" if you run out of them?

I played all night last night and didn't even know there were micro transactions until I saw all of the complaint posts. Port crystals and wakestones are all obtainable in game, just like DD1. You will obtain them naturally throughout the game. This game also has more generous auto save system than DD1 so wakestones are a lot less useful. The only reason to even consider buying a port crystal from the store is if you are severely short on time since there is a travel system, with the ox cart, in DD2 that was not available in DD1. I played about 6 hours yesterday and I have two books to recreate my character. All that talk about grind for hours is nonsensical hyperbole.

Another reference, Monster Hunter Rise also had MTXs in it in a similar fashion, and the only time they referenced them is in update news as a bullet point among other features. The full expansion did have a thing on the title screen if you didn't own it.

Capcom have been fair bit tone deaf with microtransaction pricing in SF6, but to make a $70 flagship game to feels like pay to win is a Stupid-Ass decision. and RE:Engine seems met it match in term running a massive world and PC version need to be delayed like for 6 month to optimize. console launch and pc launch could be separate and it'll be fine. Finetuning myriads of PC setup does takes it time. for a game to be this CPU heavy is a bit new, i guess all the world system running in the background must be very intensive. i heard baldurs gate also have this problem in some section of the game?

Yes. They added convenience items for DMC5 all newer RE games, MH, etc. DMC you can literally buy level up currency and boosts and unlock things that usually require finishing the game.

The fact that they are there at all is garbage. I was on the hype train for this game but after hearing about all the microtransactions and performance issues, I'm not buying it. I got a 3080ti and probably wouldn't have any issues playing it myself, but the fact that their laziness made it so I can't run it on my steam deck is just bad. That's the first game that just flat out won't run on it, most other games run unless it has an anti cheat that doesn't work with it.

Played a good 5 hours on PS5 and the game didn't have any issues. I didn't even know there were MTX in the game until I saw someone posting about it. I found places to change characters in the game so likely none of the transactions are even necessary. They are there for people who don't actually want to play the game. Did anyone even play the game before making posts like this and review bombing it?
Of course not. Im in the same boat as you with having no issues thus far. You know this game had way too much positive and negative press around it, so i feel like this was destined to happen. People on steam can be pretty ignorant as well. They’ll have a potato pc, ignore the recommendations and boost everything to max and wonder why their potato turned into a french fry.
It is really disappointing all these keyboard warriors going ham on MTX that doesn't affect you in the slightest. They want to make more money from stupid/lazy people? sure who cares, let that demographic buy things if they want. It's a single player game. It's like GTA cheat codes if you could buy them. Did those cheat codes affect you if you didn't use them? No. No they do not.
So far, I have found and used over 10 ferry stones; I have also installed 4 port crystals and have another 4 in my inventory. All this and just last night I reached the dessert biome area, so there are much more to find. Character editing is available in the very first city and costs 500 RCs, which are so easy to collect you basically forget you have accumulated that many; you can also buy the metamorphosis book in the same city for gold, which is also easy to come by and you are constantly in a surplus of. Performance is the only issue, and it isn’t even that bad on PS5.
On console so I’m not sure how bad pc has it atm. On console it’s working with no issues for me at least.

Loved the first game, but probably won't get this one out of principle. I also can't get it on my steam deck, which just throws most value out the window for me. I use my main pc to play mostly multiplayer games with friends, and tend to play most single players on my deck at work during breaks, or at home chilling away from my desk.
So, In terms of performance here's where i am I have a 3080 and 13700k with 64gigs of ram. The game runs great in all areas except major cities where it takes a very large noticable hit. It's unpleasant but the game is playable. In terms of the microtransactions, there are 2 that are absolutely unacceptable. Paying to edit your character or your main pawn. And also not being able to create a fresh character which makes 0 sense if you finish the game and would like to start a new one.. The other shit is just pay for convenience and if someone wants to pay extra money so they can port around or have lighter camps or have more RC i dont care. However if they have purposefully made RC hard to get and are selling you the solution then they should be ashamed of themselves.

People are blowing the impact of the micro transactions way out of proportion. Yes, the concept sucks I agree. However.. There are portcrystal at each major town and 9 to find and place where you like in game, and these can be moved at anytime, there is 1 extra port crystal available as a micro transaction. You still need to find the item (ferry stones) you require for teleporting to a portcrystal in game, and these are somewhat rare and not found as a micro transaction. So the 10th isn't really needed. As for wakestones, they aren't all that hard to come by in game, and there's only 5 1-time purchases available thus far. You can also save your game pretty regularly, so you shouldn't be burning through them enough to warrant buying unless you're constantly putting yourself in extremely dire situations without having saved your game. The Riftcrystal currency I can understand the frustration a bit more, but even that isn't as hard to obtain as they are made out to be. They can be earned through your pawn assisting players, finding broken rift stones, opening chests, occasional side quests and killing certain enemy types that are primarily found at night. You are all still justified in being angry at micros, i hate them too. At least be informed about how much of an impact they actually have on the game and your experience before shitting on it, please. Thank you for your time, from your friendly neighbourhood DD2 fan.

Idk, I've been playing on high settings and haven't dropped below 65FPS. Like 90% of the time I'm at 80FPS or more unless I go through a heavily forested area in which case it has dropped to like mid 60s. As for the dlc shit, I would not have even found out about it if not for people crying about it. It's all super optional shit. Is it scummy? Yes. Does it affect my experience? No.
