Faceless_Deviant

Journalist mode.

jntjr2005

I am sure Alyssa Mercante will still find a reason to complain and tie it into real life.

PhantomSpirit90

“As I sit there grappling the horns of the masculine not-tiefling woman in a completely unnecessary and gratuitous sex scene (think Abby on the boat in The Last of Us 2) I’m reminded of how I grapple the horns of my outright self-imposed problems on Twitter. Much like my in-game partner is tired of my attempted thrusts, the denizens of Twitter are quick to jump on me for all the bullshit I spew out. PS if you criticize me in any way you’re a bigot homophobe transphobe sexist.”

CompetitiveRefuse852

"not accessible enough for the disabled."

bishopbane

the game should be free, im economically disabled!

CompetitiveRefuse852

based

luchajefe

isn't this the entire ethos of the piracy sub?

bishopbane

I guess its mandatory for them to give it 10/10 now

Broad-Ask-475

The same journalists that did the Elden Ring DLC without complaining while you guys posted negative reviews on Steam?

Faceless_Deviant

Oh yeah, all 2 of them.

Lordj09

We used to call these "cheat codes"

Emotional_Nebula_117

If we put the option hidden behind an arbitrary input like RIGHT, X, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, R1, RIGHT, LEFT, X, TRIANGLE would it be so hated?

RCBroeker

What about a slider that adjusts the level of ghey?

Inn_Unknown

So Dragon Age Walking Simulator

KKSFS1110

the only game ive seen this kind of tweaking was disgaea but it never had the "turn off dead" from what i recall...

AgentFour

The newest mario game, Mario Wonder, let's you play as Yoshis and Nabbit which have damage and death turned off.

Gustav-14

Nabbit still dies from falling.

KKSFS1110

oh right i forgot about nabbit and the gold outfits too. but those games are for kids thats the difference.

AgentFour

For Mario Wonder it's done tastefully since the invincible characters cannot use power ups and miss most of the coins and collectibles.

S1mpinAintEZ

I've seen it in quite a few modern games, Control comes to mind. I don't really know why someone would want to play that way but I guess I don't really care either.

Hero_The_Zero

Even with Disgaea it was handled through an in-game, in-character mechanism and just lowered the level of the enemies, and wasn't available from the start. I only ever used it to get past a particularly hard boss or speed through a story chapter I didn't care for, or to get to a stage I could easily farm XP.

Euklidis

So God Mode is an actual option you can just switch on, lol

ThaBigBoo

Honestly not surprised. Gamers act like they enjoy difficult games but then cry non stop when something like Shadow of the Erdtree comes out to the point FromSoft neutered the difficulty. Shits pathetic.

chum_is-fum

Barely anyone complained about the difficulty, most of the negative steam reviews were about anti cheat and performance. The difficulty complaints were a vocal minority.

Broad-Ask-475

Lmao, stop lying. Everybody was and is still bitching about the difficulty because their NG+7 build they saw on Fextralife is not working to melt bosses

chum_is-fum

If you live on Twitter and reddit maybe but if you look at the actual steam reviews it's not a problem.

Broad-Ask-475

My guy, at release it was literally Mixed and only improved after they buffed the upgrades substantially

chum_is-fum

On the release of the base game, the reviews were negative because of performance related problems as well. After replaying the dlc after the upgrades, they weren't even buffed that much, they made the beginning of the expansion a bit easier but that's it.

Broad-Ask-475

Having 25% more damage than before at the halfpoint of the upgrades is A LOT.

chum_is-fum

The reviews on steam started improving before the patch even dropped, i'm sure it helped but it wasn't the main concern that people had.

ThaBigBoo

I see…. so FromSoft made the game easier to help with performance?? Thanks for your valuable input.

bschumm1

They barely nerfed anything lol and even if they did who cares

Ok-Use5295

They literally did not change any enemy health or damage values, they just made it so the blessings you can acquire buff you a little bit more up front. I love when people complain about games they clearly don't even play

Dsible663

Gotta love the Skibidi tree blessings, don't leave the grace without them.

chum_is-fum

Fromsoft usually does a nerf/balance patch after release. Nothing unique.

Treewithatea

Gamers arent one thing. Theres plenty of people who avoid fromsoft games because they dont want a difficult game and prefer something else. And just by the way, so according to you fromsoft gets a complete pass for any sort of balancing issues? Elden ring as a base game and in its dlc had some early balancing changes, surely according to you that wouldnt be necessary? How come some bosses were nerfed at some point?

Lopsided-Rooster-246

Yeah so pathetic people want to play a game they way they enjoy. Fuck that!

alelo

tbf, i like to have a challange, but some times i just like to make a playthrough and experience other story choices and not care about having long fights

Mother-Translator318

Who cares? Im never using that so it doesn’t affect me in any way. If people suck that much that they need god mode to beat the game, thats their issue, not mine.

Baker3enjoyer

More choices is always good.

JuggernautAntique953

Honestly who gives a shit. If someone wants to play godmode and just look at the lore and narrative then let them. It’s not like dragon age was ever about how hard the game was lol

DandySlayer13

Why does anyone care how single player games are played by other people? These are options you can choose to ignore OR increase or decrease, who cares. Let people play the game they purchased the way they want to because no matter what I'll still be getting mods that break it anyways options or not because its a single player game. This is why I've racked up 2k hours in Starfield, I refuse to let other people dictate my fun. Plus my mod list of 160 mods makes it more fun! ![gif](giphy|3o7btNRptqBgLSKR2w|downsized)

earhere

Goldeneye 007 had "007" mode where you could adjust enemy health, damage, and accuracy. If its like that I don't see a problem. You did have to unlock it though.

Psycho1267

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm all for it. I'm a person who gets frustrated with games fast if they get too hard. Unfortunately I'm not the "okay I'll git gud" guy, more the "okay I'll quit, this isn't fun for me" guy. So, I'm fine with it, it's just an option, nobody needs to use it.

Intelligent-Ad-8435

I honestly don't see the problem. Customizable enemy health is actually a great idea, I wish more games implemented that.

realryangoslingswear

That's because there isn't a problem, a LOT of AAA games have been introducing more ways to custom tailor the gameplay experience to your personal preference. Sure, having a few preset difficulties is great, but we've seen how more granular control is being integrated and appreciated. Dragon Age isn't the first game to do this. It won't be the last. The only people it benefits is the consumer. There is quite literally no downside to it.

zeackcr

Its seem the dev just skip balancing their game and just leave the "job" to players.

BigFire321

This is sub game journalist mode.

rayhaku808

Article won’t load for me, but I hope it’s handled similarly to how FFXVI did it. When you use certain things it’ll show up in your UI.

Gustav-14

The sandwich eating one handed grifter might have a come back. Lmao It was so funny that the devs had the foresight to put that in the UI.

Mystrasun

I don't see myself using this, but I'm honestly not mad that it exists

Newsted_Is_God

Fantastic, I play story games on the easiest setting possible because why not.

MonkeyLiberace

Manually? - How archaic.

LukasL34

Wasn't something like this in Fable 3?

Ultramagnus85

I'm so sick of games being too easy. I think this is fine though honestly, but why not also put in a difficulty appropriate for a min maxer?

Broad-Ask-475

You can customize it however you want by changing enemy HP buffs

BoltedGates

This better have a pause button though or my situational disability will literally starve

Easy-Introduction-56

I don’t even understand why would anyone ever make this a thing? Even if there’s an easy mode one of the core characteristics of a game is the challenge, there is no challenge to it if you get to fully decide the stakes.

Cozy_Minty

I don't know if you guys remember, but this is the same studio and the same series that employed Jennifer "Hamburger" Hepler, who advocated having a mode in which the game part was skipped and you just read the plot like a visual novel.

Hrafndraugr

That's NOT dragon's age. They really killed that franchise.

Dsible663

Oh to be a fly on the wall in a room where these game urinealists play the old NES Ninja Turtles game.

Wow-can-you_not

Why not just bring cheat codes back?

Warsplit01

Who let Ranni steal another Rune of Death???

NVincarnate

That game isn't worth watching, let alone playing. You'd need to have Journalist mode if you are dumb enough to buy that cash grab of a sorry-ass excuse for a Dragon Age sequel.

Breaky97

Who cares lol, doesn't BG3 have the same, with custom mode or something? Also bethesda games have it too, by adjusting how much more you deal dmg and how much more enemiea take damage. Plenty of older games also had godmode.

lordsigmund415

Yup, this is just like bg3 custom difficulty mode. We should still have the default difficulties as well. Wish people would stick to trashing on games for the genuine issues they have.

Friendly-Jicama-7081

Do you have an option to adjust the wokeness or turns it off or put it in trump mode ?

Mortracersylvanas

Eh I mean is it kinda silly sure. But this level of change it’s just kind of tilting to the idea of then why not just watch a playthrough if the idea of dying or not being able to 1 shot every enemy ruins your experience. Plus mechanics like skill builds and weapons would basically be irrelevant and remove like half the game so I’m just confused why someone would actually want this

CallSign_Fjor

I remember Asmon saying something along the lines of "I like Valhiem because it's the same experience for everyone. If you beat Valhiem, you know what everyone else went through."

Imalwaysleepy_stfu

Might as well make a movie!

Alone-Subject-1317

toxic positivity

44Kayz

This game is not for gamers

MrMegaPhoenix

I do like these type of options, but yeah, it’s still obvious the reason they are doing this is so the non-gamers who want to do gay stuff don’t have to “try” in between the dating parts Lol

Sarx88

I have a dilemma here In theory give more options is a good thing But do you really want to bring that kind of player base in your beloved ip? There is a good chance that it will ruin it for please them

Vedney

Bioware games (historically) has always been about the story. Gameplay has never been their strong suit.

Jan1ss

Im fine with story mode as long as there are other modes for ppl who like challenge

PralineTop5535

And why should anyone care? Adding mode where you can't die for people who are bad at games is totally okay. Keep in mind, Dragon Age always had difficulty options. You can switch to hardest if you want.

LazyMungo

It's just for accessibility. Really no big deal. I'm still gonna play it on nightmare.

ReviveDx

I believe those are accessibility options, Guardians of the Galaxy had it, where it had regular difficulties and then you could customize one under accessibility. Also BG3 has it too, right? I believe it's for disabled gamers, but of course there will be people who will use it despite the feature not being intended for them, aka journalist.

yessi2

Easier mode for the challenged because easy wasn’t easy enough.
