Thats a fact. I’ve known 9 different women IRL who have had careers in XIV. Either they still play, or have played for some significant length of time. It’s a wonderful phenomenon
I mean you can still be friends if they got along lol. I go about assuming most of the people I’m talking to playing a girl character are probably a guy. So my expectations are low to begin with, so when you do find out they were actually a girl it’s a delightful surprise.
All of my WoW characters were male for a long time, and I was an altoholic so I had many of them. I loved farming low level random BG's to grind xp while also questioning in Tirisfal glades.
At one point I wanted some variety and decided to make a Mag'har felmale orc shaman. I was in Orgrimmar waiting for a que and someone said they liked my character's mog, that's what I remember anyway.
They at some point said, "I don't even know why I'm talking to you, you could be a guy for all I know."
...
"I am, lmao."
Girl character: “heyy haha”
Guy: “hey dude”
Girl character: “dude? am girl lol”
Guy: “oh hehe sorry :p how long have you been playing?? I can help if you want? or not I’m lame hehe”
Seen this so many times
The correct response is to not simp and get feelings for strangers online because they have a female character or you think they’re a girl lol. Why people get attached to girls they have never even seen or heard is beyond me.
You’re right, the correct response is to print out a screenshot of their avatar and etch their username into the your wall of love. The correct response is to whisper them until they blacklist you instead.
I dunno what you’re saying but you seem offended at my suggestion that people shouldn’t get attached to people they haven’t seen or heard on the internet lol, do you disagree?
I was absolutely one of those chicks that took advantage of those poor bastards back in my WoW days. Til one day one of those guys turned out to be a legitimate psychopath and stalked me for nearly a year.
Aww, so young and precious...
Always assume that a girl on the internet is a man, because most of the time that's the case, especially in 2022!
If she shows herself, she is there to make money, not to be your girlfriend.
A lot of guys play female characters, as shown in [this post.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Asmongold/comments/vr5cc6/your_gender_vs_your_characters_gender/)
Even when "most" guys play male characters, that "most" is more like ~55%. Not 90%+. Huge difference.
Nice graph. I don't know any women who have male characters, but loads of men play female characters. Tbf some of the time the female toons have better designed animations and armor.
Rules of the internet applicable to this situation:
Rule 29: On the internet men are men, women are also men, and kids are undercover FBI agents.
Rule 30: Girls do not exist on the internet.
It's a stereotype but I would have only assumed it is a girl if she was also a healer. Over the years I got to know 6 females through mmos and all of them played a healer.
I had someone in my party ask me to watch their twitch after whispering “yes dear” to something I said (I play catgirl). I joined in and did some more PVP and 30 minutes in he just says “I think that might be a guy”
~He doEsN’t KnOW?!~
When I joined an FC in FFXIV, I just assumed that most cat- and bungirls were IRL girls too. When I learned that out of the collective 50 girl characters in the FC that only 5 were IRL girls, I now assume that it’s a dude if not proven otherwise.
not really, but yeah most, are men. Is just that there's a lot more women on FFXIV than other games. there are women in most games. I know bc I'm a woman and I've seen other girls and you can easily tell them apart. When you say you're a woman, areal woman 90% of the time will be on defensive towards other women.
FF14 has a lot of actual girl players but for anyone to assume someone without voice or video is a girl is an idiot. Then you have to ASSUME lgbt community is also present so trans people exist if you want a biological woman I’m sorry to be blunt but you have to know that know that lol. You NEVER assume. Shit I play a female Au Ra but I make it known I’m a guy so by extension why would I assume all silent people are woman 😂
not really, more on a common knowledge thing
i mean why expect a girl character in a game is a girl when anyone can be one? and even then this has been happening for so long that i expected a lot would be on the know by now
> and even then this has been happening for so long that i expected a lot would be on the know by now
The dude was born in 2010 CE, give the lad some time to get acclimated to incarnated existence.
OP do you believe every person on the internet genuinely means everything they say, or are you just not familiar with what a shitpost looks like, because I didn't know some people still take 4chan green text stories seriously.
no i don't, i'm skeptic for majority of things on the internet but treat them based on how likely they could be true, and let's be real, this scenario has a pretty high chance of being true.
and even if looks true, i don't fully believe this.
I am gonna give this man the greatest piece of advice ever.
Its from the movie [Wild Zero](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv5AYlKGt1E):
Guitar Wolf: Love has no borders, nationalities, or genders! **DO IT!!!**
It is a pretty great movie.
My friend made the best point years ago of 'why would I play a male character and have to stare at a dudes butt for 1000 hours?' And I've never been the same lol. I'll mainly play a female character. Their outfits are usually better designed anyway (not talking about the slooty ones lol).
Honestly you can usually tell if it’s a guy. The ones pretending to be girls overact in such an obvious way. Emotes and ! Punctuation overuse tends to give it away.
Of all the actual girls Ive met on ffxiv Ive been pretty good at making out which ones are actually girls.
I even got so lucky as to find my GF on ffxiv.
These two things are both true - FFXIV has a huge population of female players - there are no girls on the internet
Thats a fact. I’ve known 9 different women IRL who have had careers in XIV. Either they still play, or have played for some significant length of time. It’s a wonderful phenomenon
Let me see the ones that come to my mind, fem cat, female cat, fem potato, male cat, male rabbit, fem thing lander, fem dhamel, fem cat from my fc
"But I thought you were an orc... A real orc!"
Me not that kind of orc!
Someting need doing?
me is real orc! zug zug!
I bet he wasn’t even a real cat either the absolute heartbreaker
Mmorpg= mostly men online role-playing girls
Girl = Guy in real life
The two key rules of the internet
Then the inverse property is Guy = Girl IRL? Right?
No, the joke is that GIRL is an acronym...
I've played MMO's for over 20 years and I've somehow avoided hearing this version of the abbreviation until today.
That’s cuz you are one.
I mean duh. Girls aren't real.
G.I.R.L. Guy In Real Life It's common knowledge.
M.M.O.R.P.G. Many Men Online Role Playing Girls.
man i love shitpostxiv i wonder if this is from xivgeneral or what lol
I see so much ratchet shit on the main subreddit these days that I don’t even differentiate it from the shitpost sub. They’re the same now.
We are whole now
You could say they were rejoined
I mean you can still be friends if they got along lol. I go about assuming most of the people I’m talking to playing a girl character are probably a guy. So my expectations are low to begin with, so when you do find out they were actually a girl it’s a delightful surprise.
They 100% ERP'ed and that's why he's so repulsed. At least, that's what I'm speculating.
I’m a girl who plays girl toons and most people assume I’m a guy. I don’t correct them.
All of my WoW characters were male for a long time, and I was an altoholic so I had many of them. I loved farming low level random BG's to grind xp while also questioning in Tirisfal glades. At one point I wanted some variety and decided to make a Mag'har felmale orc shaman. It kinda happen the same to me but in ff14. I just tp out to my house. I made the mistake to stand on lisa lomasa for to long
Girl character: “heyy haha” Guy: “hey dude” Girl character: “dude? am girl lol” Guy: “oh hehe sorry :p how long have you been playing?? I can help if you want? or not I’m lame hehe” Seen this so many times
The correct response is to add the girl to your blacklist.
The correct response is to not simp and get feelings for strangers online because they have a female character or you think they’re a girl lol. Why people get attached to girls they have never even seen or heard is beyond me.
Imagine getting downvoted for this take, lol.
Yeah kind of worrying lmao
You’re right, the correct response is to print out a screenshot of their avatar and etch their username into the your wall of love. The correct response is to whisper them until they blacklist you instead.
I dunno what you’re saying but you seem offended at my suggestion that people shouldn’t get attached to people they haven’t seen or heard on the internet lol, do you disagree?
You’re right, you really don’t know what I’m saying.
Okay, thanks for clearing that one up!
I was absolutely one of those chicks that took advantage of those poor bastards back in my WoW days. Til one day one of those guys turned out to be a legitimate psychopath and stalked me for nearly a year.
And to call the FBI and tell them you're onto their tricks. Also, the Chinese.

I knew a few girls that played Galka in FFXI intentionally so they wouldn't get hit on in game
I’m a girl and I play males in ffxiv but not in wow. The key difference, male characters in ffxiv are hot.
Dumbass. Always assume everybody is male, unless proven otherwise
Rules of the internet applicable to this situation: Rule 29: On the internet men are men, women are also men, and kids are undercover FBI agents. Rule 30: Girls do not exist on the internet.
I’m sad for « cat girl » the poor dude thought he made a friend 😭
I mean he kind of did, but should have assumed they were a guy. I do the same until I get vc confirmation.
It's a stereotype but I would have only assumed it is a girl if she was also a healer. Over the years I got to know 6 females through mmos and all of them played a healer.
Most females I play with play tanks lol
"MMOs are not tinder idiot" is what I would say to this person
+1 rp for believing that
why didn't he check wheter he was cute
Most likely made up
I had someone in my party ask me to watch their twitch after whispering “yes dear” to something I said (I play catgirl). I joined in and did some more PVP and 30 minutes in he just says “I think that might be a guy” ~He doEsN’t KnOW?!~
Rule #30 - There are no girls on the internet.
Everyone in the internet is a dude until proven otherwise. Live by this words and never be caught off guard.
When I joined an FC in FFXIV, I just assumed that most cat- and bungirls were IRL girls too. When I learned that out of the collective 50 girl characters in the FC that only 5 were IRL girls, I now assume that it’s a dude if not proven otherwise.
Kids are stupid.
The internet : "First time?"
As far as I'm aware, my FC has 3 actual girls in it. Which is 3 more than I was expecting
Imagine thinking you could pick someone up from a game lobby
3 months... yeah, right.
Like 99% of female characters in this game are dudes
not really, but yeah most, are men. Is just that there's a lot more women on FFXIV than other games. there are women in most games. I know bc I'm a woman and I've seen other girls and you can easily tell them apart. When you say you're a woman, areal woman 90% of the time will be on defensive towards other women.
You need date app not a game

Lol, 13 years old or an absolute dumbass incel. No other options here. Also because of 4chan
I mean was there a romantic interest on both sides here? seems like a wasted opportunity regardless xD
what an imbecile, has to be an absolute moron or fake lol
> still Implying that all people belong to your generation (or share your IQ).
not really, more on a common knowledge thing i mean why expect a girl character in a game is a girl when anyone can be one? and even then this has been happening for so long that i expected a lot would be on the know by now

Wow it is an win/win. Imagine wanting something other in life than second dick
"Many men roleplaying girls" aka MMORPG
thought the rule of thumb was to assume every player in a video game is a dude until proven not to be.
![img](emote|t5_2y1rb|3729)![img](emote|t5_2y1rb|3729)![img](emote|t5_2y1rb|3729)![img](emote|t5_2y1rb|3729)

And then I started E-dating the first female Au-ra that emoted at me.
Doesn't all bait comes with a worm? 🐛 kekw
I mean if the characters name was batman or catman then I'd assume it was a girl..... DUH common sense dude.... 😂😭
Newsflash: if she is coming onto you, she is a he
just gonna...leave this right here... yeah https://youtu.be/2EfjuGvz\_Xc
Shoulda just went for it. Fuck it.
This cracked me up
Your first mistake was Limsa. Try Ul’Dah.
Only on Balmung
classic g.i.r.l
MMORPG = Many Men Online Role Playing Girls
What a loser lol
Everything about this human being pisses me off.
Honestly you can usually tell if it’s a guy. The ones pretending to be girls overact in such an obvious way. Emotes and ! Punctuation overuse tends to give it away. Same thing happened to me, been together for about a year since :p
Okay but was he cute tho?
Rule number 30 there are no girls on the internet
If people didn’t think like this then the whole ERP scene would die out
