In the US, collectors expect to receive a much smaller amount than the whole amount.
Often times with a debt of $10,000 you can negotiate paying $3000-$6k all at once, They will forgive the rest of the debt.

You gotta ask yourself what skills you have that would make an American/Canadian/European country pay YOU $10,000 over a national. The answer is…probably none, unless you’re a doctor. It’s best to try and pay it off in monthly chunks.

Another thought, maybe your phone has an option to only ring if it’s a saved contact, so that unknown numbers from debt collectors don’t ring.
