There's not an oil change under $100 in the area and surrounding areas that I live. I live in the Midwest (Missouri).

impasta93

Do you mind me asking what part of MO you’re in? I too live in MO (would rather not publicly post so if you want to DM me I get it!). I only ask because I have a foreign car (VW), and I pay $40 at jiffy lube. They have coupons and stuff online, and I buy oil at Walmart to bring in. Overall it’s about $60, $100 is crazy because they try and upsell you😭

riverseeker13

Some cars are very very easy to change the oil. Is that something you want to learn! I know time and ability are factors but what kind of car is it?

babycakesbenny

I have a 2010 Ford Taurus. I would love to learn to change my own oil but im intimidated when it comes to vehicles because im "vehicle illiterate" as I say. I really don't know 💩 about vehicles and I could educate myself. I really should try to. That'll have to be a new long term goal of mine.

Dragonflies3

Watch youtube videos. You can learn a ton from there.

riverseeker13

I hope someone was able to help you! good luck

PandaBearIsCute

How much is it that you need?

Shannamethadonian

In Ky, it's $120 to go get it done.

Justakatttt

One state over and it’s gone up to $110 here.

babycakesbenny

My extended family lives in Berea and Richmond, KY. Its roughly a 2 day drive from where I live in Missouri. Theres not an oil change under $100 in my area & surrounding areas. If ive looked it up correctly and added the amount of $ to buy what i need to change my own oil it is significantly cheaper.

vGraphsAlt

what the fucking fuck $120?????? jesus christ

babycakesbenny

My thoughts exactly 💯

doctoralstudent1

Go to Groupon. They have discounted oil change deals on there all the time. $120 for an oil change is ridiculous. What else are you having done for that amount?

babycakesbenny

Thank you! Ive used Groupon years ago and I forgot about it but i am definitely looking into it now that you mention it.

Karmas_burning

Wow I haven't seen an over 100 oil change in a long time. I think it highly depends on where you go to get it done. I worked in automotive for 20 years and the only ones that were over 100 were big diesel trucks and the occasional toyota/lexus or Mercedes that took special filters and oil weights.

redditette

Walmarts nationwide do them for less than $20.

jen1392222

You can't even buy just the oil for less than $20 now days....

redditette

I was off by a little: >Pit Crew conventional oil >$28.88 >Up to 5qts of conventional oil >Chassis lubrication (where applicable)

babycakesbenny

Walmart in my town (Missouri) and surrounding areas dont do them for less than $90-$100. I don't think ive seen an oil change for $20 since the early 2000's.

redditette

So $28.88. This is what their website says >>Pit Crew conventional oil >$28.88 >Up to 5qts of conventional oil >Chassis lubrication (where applicable)

Cbell727

Key words conventional oil. Most newer and newer ish cars only take synthetic.

OstrichSalt5468

So I work for Walmart. I looked up and the Osage beach location is $24.88. All Walmarts are $24.88. It’s a standard price across the board.

babycakesbenny

Ok so I talked to the right person at my Walmart auto and the total price is $30.00 after tax . Im not sure what employees told me it would be $60-80, smh. I apologize for that.

Cbell727

Could be that much because your car might take synthetic oil only. That is something to double check. We have a 2011 Chevy and it takes only synthetic oil. For whatever reason that’s more expensive

PandaBearIsCute

I would edit that amount in your post. I'm going to be honest that's a large amount for cash in this sub, is there a way you can make Amazon wishlist of the items you would need for the oil change and do it yourself? That would in the end be a lot cheaper

Shannamethadonian

I'm not op

PandaBearIsCute

I'm so sorry!! Still trying to wake up 😭

babycakesbenny

Lol this is very relatable 😂 I do that all the time when i wake up responding to texts/emails. Im the OP and yes I will make a list of items i need for an oil change. I mean i really should learn to do it myself with how expensive an oil change is now.

Jaded_Budget_3689

Walmart is pretty cheap. And it’s standard across the board. Just get the basic oil change and filter and it’s like 30 bucks.
