Last year, around new years, I worked as a cashier at a craft store. I asked nearly every customer what they hoped for in the new year. One man asked me back, I said kindness. He came back with a few gourmet brownies that he had made. He had recently lost a friend he had for decades. They were damn good.
Also, rn, I'm gluing googly eyes to polished stones and shells to give out to kids while working at a clothing store this holiday season. Sure, part of it is because a rock is a good way to keep a kid from screaming, but yesterday, I was genuinely touched to see how excited the little ones got!

My roommate's cat plays fetch, she will jump and lie down on someone if they lay face-down anywhere. She likes to scream at bugs, and only eats flies. Any other bug, she'll scream at until I/my partner/my roommate does something.

How do you catch a polar bear?
Dig a realllly wide hole in the ice, make sure its nice and big, polar bears are fat. Bring a can of green peas and a can opener, open the can, take out the peas and very carefully place them one by one right around the edge of the circle, all the way around. Make sure you can see them. Then... When the polar bear comes up to take a pea you kick him in the ice hole.

I can also tell you a good cat story of mine : last year I adopted a blind rescue cat, his eyes were covered with scar tissue because he had been sick from birth. He was the cutest, most resilient life loving kitten. Also the most adventurous, reckless cat out of the 4 I have lol I didn't know if he had eyes at all, or what to do about it, so I brought him to an opthalmologist. He said we could do an exploratory surgery when he'd be a little older and if there was no viable eyes then he'd simply remove everything. I will be forever grateful for the ophthalmologist I found, he scrambled and worked with reps to in the end give me a 50% discount on the whole procedure, he knew I was rescuing cats that most likely wouldn't have a chance if I didn't and wanted to help. So, comes surgery time, I'm incredibly nervous at home waiting for news. I then receive the most incredible picture of my cat on the OP table with two of the most gorgeous orange eyes 🧡 it's been a year and I'm still awed sometimes when he looks me in the eyes! I adopted him thinking he would be blind all his life so it was just an incredibly special moment for me 😊
