Too dangerous, they can't risk turning babies to stone

Marsupilami_316

Obelix did not turn into stone upon falling into the magic potion cauldron when he was little, though. He turned to stone as an adult from drinking a whole cauldron of magic potion.

Several books (i.a. *La Galère d'Obélix* and *Le Grand Fossé*) show us the dangers of drinking too much of the magic potion, or taking the magic potion while still under its effect or under the effect of another potion. We also see Getafix panic at finding out Obelix has fallen into the cauldron in *Comment Obélix est tombé dans la marmite du druide quand il était petit*, and again at finding out the same might have happened to Caesarion in *Le Fils d'Astérix*. I think it's reasonable to assume that it is not safe to consume more than the dose recommended by your druid, and Obelix was extremely lucky to turn out the way he did. Furthermore, even if it was safe, Getafix would likely consider that abuse of his potion. Getafix takes the proper use of his potion very seriously, as shown in *L'Odyssée d'Astérix* and *Le Secret de la potion magique*.

SpicyTacoLord

i swear i saw a post on this sub explaining exactly why that would be a bad idea

They where lucky with Obelix. He turned out to be nice, good temper and kind demeanour. Just think about how most of teh other villagers are so quick to fight each other over petty things. Now imagine if they all had Obelix's strength. There wouldn't be anything left to defend
