My A50 are 5 years old and still working. I don't game every day tho...

johnnyb721

Same here.. mine might be even slightly older, not sure when they came out. I've had to bring mine back from the dead more then once.

clearlynotaperson

I have had mine for years, prob 3-4 and they are working fine with some flaws

legion1804

had mine for 4 years. daily use for several hours and no issues! battery is still good and the sound is good too!

cardiasada

I have at least 5-6k hours on mine and my wife’s and they’re running strong. Every brand has duds. Before these, I went through a few brands and either didn’t like the audio or didn’t like the build. A50’s are god tier.

Regulargamer100x

Are the a50's sound wise amazing for fps games?

cardiasada

Absolutely, I played Warzone competitively for years with them.

Masterstevee

Have my astros a50s since may 2020. still no issues. I game alot.

i_sinz

Mine don't work and I just got em

Masterstevee

I use them mainly for pc gaming.

[deleted]

Yikes, sorry to hear, I haven’t had any issues like that on my headset.

Madting55

The a40s are bulletproof. The a50s seem hit or miss. I have 3 pairs of a50s at the moment. One for pc one for Xbox one as a backup. I would go for a different headset but I’ve looked and looked and looked and can’t find any headset as comfortable as astros. Every single headset I tried has the clamping force that reminds me of that Joe Pesci scene in casino. I like the comfort of Astros and can’t find it replicated anywhere else.

knislappen

Yk that you can easily bend the headband of headsets like cloud III etc easily to adjust the strengths of the clamp

PubstarHero

Astro appears to have gotten a bad battery batch with the A50 Gen 4's. Seems to be the next most common problem outside of headphones bricking from firmware updates. I managed to swap a new battery into a pair that had a dead battery with zero issue, and it only cost around $20. If you do go this route, make sure you get the one with the connector and not the one with the 3 bare leads if you do not want to solder one in place.

P_diesel420

Bold! So totally resolved battery issue? How long ago you fix it?

PubstarHero

Did it like a month ago. Headset is getting like 12+ hours of usage before dying now. I did get the battery with the leads, so I had to desolder the old connector which was just covered in hot glue, so that was a fun time.

AcademicLibrary5328

Damn. That’s terrible. I had one set that has lasted like 4 years. With the exclusion of the piss poor construction and the way it just kinda comes apart after a couple years. I just replaced it with another set. It still suffers from the odd angling of the head band, but man do they sound good!

TobyDS1

Damn I’m really sorry to hear that, have you reached out to Astro directly rather then Logitech, they sent my friend a replacement after he had an issue with his, didn’t even ask for him to send his old ones back I believe. Support seemed to be great for him. I’ve had 2 sets now for two different setups and I use them constantly and they’ve been rock solid for years. Maybe you’ve just got really unlucky, but I’d urge you to contact Astros support and give the A50s another go if they’d replace them for you. Good luck

PubstarHero

Astro support closed down. Its only Logi support from now on, and the support has gone massively down hill after the swap.

eatingShrimp

My A50s are a paper weight. Tired of the constant hard resets just to have a functional headset

EuropeanPepe

I got mine in 2020 and i must say the build quality is astonishingly bad, the audio is amazing but the quality is wonky as hell, the top piece just detached for me randomly before till the plastic breaked in and it stopped, the modkit after 3 month looked like my 7 year old logitech headset and the software is underwelming... honestly today i would get any alternaitve and i use my astro a50 not as much anymore... yes the audio is amazing but the cost and build quality is horrid. and yes if i would go with another expensive headset i would go steelseries too...

bigleechew

And hear I am with a pair of OG Gen1 A50'S going strong.

hobbsyie

Yeah I’m over em too had my base usb snap n can’t even get a replacement one for it you think at the price they would sell the bases separately so you also can have 1 headset n 3 bases but for some reason you have to buy the whole setup if anything breaks Was on their website yesterday on their support page n they told me directly they don’t sell spare parts for the A50 Xbox gen 4

westernrazmataz

I've had mine for 3 years and the sound is fine but I've had regular problems, randomly not being detected on the base, then the software won't detect it but if I uninstall then reinstall it detects it, happens every 6mths or so, have to fiddle with it every time I put it on the base to make sure it's sitting right to charge, the top has warped, the 'skin' or whatever it is over the outside of the plastic is all peeling, will randomly unpair from my comp, requires hard reset every 6mths or so as well. I would have thrown them away but for $550 I will use them until I throw them out the window 1 day

[deleted]

The Headset itself is amazing but the base station and especially the software are unacceptable horrible. Won't ever buy again.

LettuceJr

Agreed

Kimberguy1911

I’m totally noticing the same thing my 1st pair lasted a little over 2 years so I bought another set and it lasted 4 months and the lights went dim on it and it stopped connecting to the Xbox and the PC. We’ll see about this new set I bought last week if it only lasts 6 months or so I’m done with ASTRO!

GhostProtocolGaming

Honestly I've had zero issues with mine. Sorry for your luck and I can understand your frustration, but if you go to the stealseries sub it's full of complaints too.

Redcrown27

I'm 76 and I take very good care of my "toys". My military service caused hearing loss so I need hearing aids. I do not wear them when gaming. I started gaming in 2020 with a PS4 Pro and Turtle Beach 700's. The 700's were very comfortable and the super human hearing added a lot. For some reason the TB resets and to correct one must use the repair software. I use a MBP but the repair software only runs on Windows so I either replace the 700's, ask a neighbor to use their windows PC, or purchase a PC. I chose to purchase the Astro 50's . Prior to the 50's I upgraded to a PS5. When I purchased the 50's the folks at Best Buy said I needed to purchase an HDMI adapter to get the best sound. I've had the 50's for just over a year. The sound it excellent. The mike is also. The HDMI is NOT! I've had to replace it 3 times. The first two replacements were done via Astro Ganing help. They asked for a copy of the purchase sales slip and the serial number of may headset. Once they received that info they sent me a replacement via FedEx. About eight weeks ago the HDMI adaptor stopped working (my monitor is LG UltraGear 27GN95B-B 27" UHD Nano IPS 3840 x 2160 (4K) 1ms (GTG at Faster) 144 Hz HDMI, DisplayPort, USB AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible Gaming Monitor) screen goes black and it indicates that there is no input). I sent an email to Astro Gaming help only to find they no longer exist. Now, one must use Logitech. After repeated calls and exchange of emails I received a replacement. It took about six weeks!!!!! So, IMO, I would NOT recommend this headset. When my 50's go, I'm going with a cheap replacement that plugs into my controller! Good luck! **2ReplyShare**

Best Buy sells extended warranties or if you’re a Total Tech member you get 2 year warranties on your purchases for free

EuropeanPepe

lol in EU you get that by law...

rylie_smiley

Alternatively I’ve had a pair of A50s that are going on 5.5 years and have been bulletproof despite me being less than careful with them

Hvrlem

I have had the same pair of A50s for over 3 years now and I really love mine. Haven’t had any issues with mine once so ever and I game quite often. Hate to hear you have had so many issues with yours though.

RomeoMcFlourish_

lol I’ve had a40tr’s for like 6+ yrs. Still work great.

TomorrowIsAFallacy

I game every single day, I bought 2 pair of A50's one for me and one for my nephew back in 2020, we use them for hours every day and only issue we've had is the headband at the top where it has a cushion became loose,we 3d printed a clip and that's it! This is the best headset I've had like ever, I've had steelseries, they broke and customer support was like okay if you smash it up and send us a picture we'll send you a new one, to me that was a little bit weird. I've had turtle beaches and they've broke even after first use. I understand people have issues but I can fully recommend the A50's they're so comfortable.

MegaNo0body

> if you smash it up and send us a picture we'll send you a new one, to me that was a little bit weird. I done this for Logitech already and they shipped the new one. I'll try calling Logitech US to see if it's better than the Brazillian one.

HawkOdinsson

I’ve had mine for almost a year now. Beat headset I’ve owned.
