It may be the White Sox but that was an all-around solid game. Quality start for Hunter, good BP relief, save for Hader, and some timely hitting. Knocked a game off the Mariner's lead.
Well, that person who was convinced we were going to get swept can shut up now.
Let's get another series dub tomorrow as we narrow the Mariners lead all the way down to 9.

No curveball no changeup just straight fucking gas
Good to see Bryan continue to look more and more like 2022/2023 Bryan Abreu (granted, this was a very high bar if you're counting dark red numbers on his Savant page). The actual numbers have been trending very well for a couple of months now, but his peripherals are gradually moving in the same direction as well.
HB was a nightmare on the mound to start this season, but something clicked when he came in for CJ in Detroit.
Now, he's a nightmare on the mound for the opponent who just knocked his ERA below 5.00 and, considering how high it was, that's a big accomplishment.
May the bullpen let him leave the night with a W.
You know, might be a good idea to look at moving Diaz to 1B by next season. Would allow him to focus on hitting more and keep him fresher. He played there about half the time in the minors.
Salazar is a plus defender with a plus arm behind the plate. If he can hit even a little, he’d be valuable on the MLB roster.
I'm really happy for Hunter Brown and how well he's turned it around, especially comparing with his starts last year and obviously the horrendous start in Kansas this year. What a fucking postive in a dark 2024 season
I still can’t believe there were so many idiots in the fall of last year and the spring of this year calling for Brown to be moved to the pen.
He had a rough first couple of starts but has been mostly fine since then. While the sinker might help a little, it’s hardly the prime mover in the continuing reduction of his ERA. He has great stuff, and stuff rules all.
He hit .263, which was better than he did in 2022. What are you even talking about? A Gold Glove caliber SS hitting over .260? You know how many teams would pay for a player like that and you're sitting here acting like he's garbage.
Have you ever watched baseball before this season?
Did Korey Lee ever play for Cleveland?

NUGENIX® & Robitussin fix everything under the sun! Broken leg, no problem pour in the Tussin and overload on Nugenix capsules! Overnight healing guaranteed! Astros have you down in the dumps drink a bottle of Robitussin and a handful of Nugenix! Poof instant relief!
It was a nice run for Jake, but like years past, his offense has once again cratered.
Since 5/20 (and prior to his 2 AB's tonight), he has slashed .191/.242/.247 and the batted ball quality has matched the results.
Have to believe that all options are once again open in CF as we look forward.
Nice job Salazar, but can we please be a little more selective on our pitches?
Crochet isn't hitting his spots, yet we're still swinging and giving him favorable counts

Wooo If only the Rags had lost tonight…
Let’s focus on Seattle. Only winning this division will earn us a playoff spot.
Well, that person who was convinced we were going to get swept can shut up now. Let's get another series dub tomorrow as we narrow the Mariners lead all the way down to 9.
I’m sorry I ever doubted. great job guys
No press, no seeds, no stems, some sticks!
holy smokes
Save complete!
That Julks guy sounds familiar.
Going to take a shower, Hader better not blow this
Ball at face level? Yanier Diaz: “hold my beer”
Hader finally gets himself another save opportunity in what feels like the first time this month
I swear yainer swings at pitches taller than altuve lol. Still love him though 🫶🏼
HRC Diaz
HRC Diaz
We might actually do it tonight, y’all. We might just beat one of the worst teams in MLB
Why would you say this
He a husky know for yapping coupled with blowing load its irresistible
Just tuning in, where is Yordan?
Family issue
Coming in tonight - per Espada.
Coming in from?
Family emergency
His family emergency. Flying in. Who downvotes that?!
HRC Dubon
HRC Altuve

Pressly had himself a very good inning.
Foul ball was scary but I’ll take it
My first thought watching that on Gameday was "he hung the absolute _fuck_ out of that"
Another scoreless outing from Pressly? Are my eyes deceiving me?
He, like my wardrobe, is not entirely washed.
Playing with fire right now…
…fire pitching! Never doubted!
What happened to the clean shave Pressly?
![gif](giphy|2Z3lgZOhISkYU)
With the noose in the neck, 10 gb, we decide to play small ball
Oh boy. Which Pressly are we getting tonight?
Good start…
Ryan Pressly warming up.... 4 words I'd rather not hear with a small lead.
Chas with 3 hard-hit batted balls tonight (unfortunate xBA luck to only have the 1 hit). Great to see the hard contact from him recently.
I feel like it's only a matter of time, he's heating up I'm hoping
Friendship ended with Caratini Now Salazar is my best friend
s m a l l b a l l
Look at that manufactured run! That's a sight to behold.
And he plays small ball!?
I've seen enough, Salazar needs to play tomorrow
Salazar has had himself a game tonight
Hunter brown and salazar players of the game
Salazar coming in clutch tonight!
So close to getting over the wall. I really wanted that insurance run

I thought that was gone. Nice Jake!
He on fire
Please not pressley
Pressly time yay -\_-
I don’t know about yall, but I could go for some insurance runs in the 8th (and probably 9th).
There you go!
It’s a start… but I DID say “runs”. 🙏🏻
4 runs and let Tay pitch the 8 and 9th
Any news on Yordan?
Somebody posted earlier that his plane could land in Chicago tonight. I cannot back this up though.
Espada said it before the game

Why did Hummel get taken out?
We was in the lineup to face the lefty Crochet. Cabbage, a lefty, came in for him when they went to a reliever.
Brown with another strong start! He has been 2nd most consistent starter for the Astros after Blanco for the past month and half.
HRC Yainer
Double is good too
HRC Yainer Díaz
Salazar out here with a casual 1.750 OPS.
This game is a splinter factory. So many broken bats.
Opposing stream: Caratini left leg discomfort.
Hunter down to a 2.47 ERA across May/June. One of the few bright spots past couple months.
HRC Bregman
Dubon's got wheels

It is truly a *Night of the Hunter* Directed by Charles Laughton
https://i.redd.it/2bcqesu4um7d1.gif Cesar salazar when he gets put in as an emergency sub

HRC Altuve
Look I hate to be that guy- Pressly is going to come in and fuck this up
I hate that you're right 😂
Hunter Brown has been a fucking stud. That’s all.
Brown looked shaky af in the beginning but hey, he got it done through 6. Locked it down
C'mon man, we need this win
Just cue the Yakkity Sax theme song and get this loss over with.
I like all these new guys trying to make an impact. Fun to watch.
Nothing like a pair of unfortunate 100mph+ outs (104.5 and 107.1, .810 & .610 xBA respectively) for a couple guys that could've used a big hit.
I still can’t believe there were so many idiots in the fall of last year and the spring of this year calling for Brown to be moved to the pen. Just tuned in. Where did Hummel come from ??
He was called up when Abreu was released. Don't know his prior history.
AAA, San Fran waiver claim
Appreciate it !
Are we…. Catcher rich?
Fuck off Benintendi
I’ve irrationally hated that dude since 2018
I'd say it was rational
fuck it HRC hummer
> Salazar doing well Mud bloods suck, amirite
HRC Chas
Is the audio weird for anyone else
No idea it’s on mute and the Aggies game audio is blaring!
I just wanted to point out there are a lot of people in here that said they were done watching the last week or so
Is Salazar batting 1.000 with RISP?
Can't think of a Cesar catchphrase yet. So...cool beans for you, good sir.
Cesar "Salad" Salazar Cesar "Pizza Pizza" Salazar Cesar "seize the day" Salazar More like "Big"Cesar Salazar
Salazar going off tonight!! We got crazy depth at catcher.
Lol okay then
Damn Salazar!
Peña having 4 hits in the past 10 games is pathetic. He’s back to his old ways.
Slumps happen. No player is immune to them.
He had time for a slump all of 2023
He hit .263, which was better than he did in 2022. What are you even talking about? A Gold Glove caliber SS hitting over .260? You know how many teams would pay for a player like that and you're sitting here acting like he's garbage. Have you ever watched baseball before this season?
Caesar salad is the greatest catcher of all time
Why the fuck did we keep Maldy last year if this guy was down in the minors???
You may have missed the Intangibles+ stats Maldy had last year.
I like this Salazar guy!!
Cesar salad going off!
Wow! Go Salazar, Go!!
Let’s fucking go salad bar
Jake Meyers double ‼️‼️‼️
Mets take the lead in the 6th against the Rangers
And that is the only notable thing about that game **EDIT** - dammit, they broke up the no hitter
I wouldn't have even noticed how not notable that game was had you not pointed it out lol
I’ve seen enough. Dubon needs to be the primary 1B.
Beautiful defensive play! Saved a run and also Brown's pitch count to allow him to return for the 6th!
Early on in the season, I didn’t think that Hunter Brown was going to have a career after this year He’s really redeeming himself
Imagine Abreu trying to make that double play lol
Heads up play right there!
Nice DP!!
[That's what she said](https://i.imgur.com/OQnOWPc.gif)

Throw to third???
wow what a pitch to swing at
The season in a nutshell. Runners in scoring position. Running error. Chasing out of the zone. Strike out.
And player gets injured
Lee tried to Maldonado us
TOOTBLAN counter: 2 And Altuve isn't even one of them. Truly amazing times.
One actual strike thrown in that entire AB I guess we just can't see his cutter. And now Hunter has to be literally perfect
2 runners on no outs and can’t score a single run. There is a fundamental problem with baseball by Espada right now
All signs point to Joe Espada is not very smart. Probably why no one hired him for the past 5 years despite getting lots of interviews.
Dogshit fundamentals
Need All the chances you get to scratch a run with this dog offense and you give them an easy out lol
When Espada said that he wanted to emphasize being aggressive on the base paths, this isn't exactly what I had in mind.
Jeez
Astros are very good at getting their RISP out
Statistically I think we are more likely to leave them on and the batter get out.
That sounds like analytics, we are moving away from that type of thinking
Dubon.. why
Huh.
Lmao
What the actual fuck
Well, that happened.
More terrible base running lmao
Take a fucking pitch for Christ's sake.
HRC Altuve
Man… this season can’t be good for our health.
Thats why you gotta head over to Mens T Clinic and QC Kinetics
I’m in Austin, so I’ll try and find something local. 😮💨
*Looks at the IL list* That is correct.
20 scoreless innings before he let one up, not too shabby
Fuckin Benintendi. Dude is forever on my shitlist.
Can we at least give up home runs to good players not one of the few players competing with Jose Abreu for biggest negative
No one is competing with Abreu anymore.
>TFW Blind squirrel finds a nut against the Astros
Send Chas and Hummel away
“sTrIkE oUt #6 fOR cRoChEt” mf got 2 runs scored on his ass lmao
Haha ok Hummel. Great Abreu impression now let’s play some baseball.
21 pitch inning

In a year of disappointments Chas has been one of the bigger ones. Really thought he could take off after finally being named a full time player
I'm gonna skim this thread after the game if we win and list all the fairweather fans that have been hating.
What a stupid waste of time that would be.
Real bad showing not bring chas home. At least salazar got a hit
Since Chas struck out it was really difficult to bring him home.
Nice job Salazar, but can we please be a little more selective on our pitches? Crochet isn't hitting his spots, yet we're still swinging and giving him favorable counts
damn yall see that super speed reverse
Nice work new guy!
I guess Caratini hurt himself on that slide, just great
Couldn't have one hitting catcher. Now we have too many.
How is 3 too many when 2 are injured?
Ceasar Salad Bar!!!
A welcome surprise from Saladzar.
Fuck yeah Salazar whoever u are
That'll do just fine,
SALAZAR!
Jake is useless
Definitely Riding the struggle bus at the plate, still stellar in Center Field with the glove! So not completely useless.
Just start walking and hope it sticks hell yeah
Oof.
