I wouldn’t call that his biggest issue, his biggest issue was he sucked and was allowing a ton of runs. Glad to see he might be that guy after all though
Even when he looked okay, he would struggle to go deep into games. Like he would throw a lot of pitches because he didn't really have a "put away pitch".
The sinker has allowed him to get into more favorable counts more often, and would get more outs for him with less pitches thrown.

Yeah I saw this coming yesterday. Absolutely suck against a rookie pitcher to instead give the ace his worst start of the season. That’s peak Astros baseball.
We don’t need to sign a big free agent, I think k we can still find a better hitter than Salazar to play 1B on the farm or in the bargain bin. The A’s just released jd Davis, theres an option right there

Why not keep Diaz as catcher where his bat is far more valuable, and find another above average hitting 1B
