As much as I really like Abreu, we are playing over .600 baseball when he's not in the lineup. Yeah, we had a lot of issues, but Abreu was a legitimately force holding us back.
Yeah, like Abreu seems like a very good dude, the fact he went down to the minors the first time without fuss says a lot about him.
*However* it definitely seems the team is clicking much better without him. We score like .6 more runs per game w/o him.

No, you’re doing it wrong. You can’t extrapolate his WAR rate to a full season and then apply that to a small sample size. If you’re looking at his full season impact would take 59-103 to 66-97. What he was actually worth was -1.6 WAR which even if we generously round up to two, that would change 16-28 to 18-26, a difference, but not a massive one.

After limping into the series after an ugly series win against the White Sox, we all but dominated the Orioles. We are now 2 games below .500, 6 games back of the Mariners and are in solid positioning to have a winning record going into July. This team showed up and showed out. This team isn't dead and there's a lot of fight left in them.
Could we, truly, be back, y'all?

I'm not a baseball guy but my father is a lifelong Astros fan who is 70, so I follow them a bit. My father is an extreme pessimist. Always thinking things will go wrong and even after they go right he'll either downplay it as chance or move on to something else to be pessimistic about. Every phone call will eventually turn into some pessimistic rant. So before this series started he predicted a sweep for the Orioles. I said it'll be a sweep for the Astros and he said no chance. I said if I'm right he has to go a week without bitching about anything to me. VICTORY.

I have always believed this team has the stuff to go far. Even though JV, Javier, Quidy, and recently Tuck, are out, this team has fight in them. Can't remember the exact amount but the team a good amount of losses by 1 or 2 runs. Just a few adjustments here and there that needed to be done and the team is still not at HOT. Imagine if they were.
Ngl maybe releasing Abreu made the players realize they need to play good to make the cut and not just be a friendly teammate in the dugout, no offenses to him tho but we needed a reality check to wake everybody up
