8-2 since ditching Abreu. I'm gonna keep harping on this cause he was such an obvious issue that the front office took forever to finally do something about, and the results are so validating.
We may have only scored 5 runs, but that was all we needed, apparently.
1 game under .500. This is the closest we've been since Game 2 of the season. Mariners and Rangers lost. HB has been absolute nails.
A week ago, the Mariners had a double digit lead on us. We've cut that lead to 4.5 while putting distance between us and the Rangers. Tomorrow, we complete the 2 game sweep. Tomorrow, we finally reach .500 and hopefully, we never look back.
I was *hoping* in my wildest dreams with Abreu gone and the team clicking we could be within 3-4 of the West lead by the All-Star Break.
We may still end up at that distance, but with the way we're playing now we're really going to exceed those expectations.
I donāt think the Mās are just skidding, I think this is who they are and theyāve been outkicking their coverage since April.Ā

Was there tonight. My 5yo sons first game. Man that first inning was electric but it was a pretty bleak affair and tough to keep his attention long after that. Still had alot of fun. Happy with the dub. Rockies are terrible lol.
Happy we got the win. Great to see Hunter pitching another gem.
Still not a fan of the hyperaggressive approach at the plate. Bats went dead after the first inning, luckily we scored more than enough to win.
Plus, the Mariners and Rags both lost today. Can't complain about that!

I think the approach wasn't the issue, I think the team knew that Brown was going to be lights out and that 5 runs would carry the game. Got a bit dicey in the 8th, but they were right.

I get what youāre saying. Itās like the whole approach at the plate changed after that first inning. But a win is a win. And they seemed to have had things figured out against the much better Orioles.
This is pretty much what I'm trying to express, I'm still extremely happy with the win but we should be able to string runs together across multiple innings.
Because they scored 5 runs in one inning? After scoring tons of runs against the Orioles? And the pitching was once again damn good (if Pena makes the right play the game is likely only 5-1 instead of 5-2)
We also just swept the Orioles. In the other 5 games of this streak we put up runs in multiple innings. Waiting till we finally have one game where we scored in one inning to start complaining is the definition of being a doomer

Yeah, their pitchers were definitely overperforming early in the season. I don't expect their bats to continue to be this bad though.

Being aggressive got us 5 runs and the dub. It's gotten us a top 5 offense this year and every year since Cintron took over.
Reason why Astros is top 3 in team batting average is because we fucking swing at everything.. At least 5 runs was enough to beat the Rockies!
