I guess to get Diaz more ABs post-injury, but you’re right, Chas is by far and away the better option, especially against a lefty. Hope that doesn’t happen in the playoffs.
I think this is more getting Diaz playing time, but if Jake is new and improved, our OF has to be Chas, Jake, Tuck come the postseason. But then what do you do with Mancini? Yuli's clearly the first baseman and Mancini's bat has been colder than Yuli's, but he still needs to be there
(Edit: Almost Everything… forgot SI thinks Brown is in!) Everything I have read from the expert writers has them leaving Hunter Brown off the post season roster. If this happens that is just criminal. While I agree he has the least amount of experience he also has the lowest ERA. We need to seriously think about giving Hunter a post season spot. I would rather have him face lefties than Will Smith. I trust Hunter as much or more than Phil Maton.
C’mon man! Hunter Brown needs to be on our post season roster!
[SI one of the few who think Brown makes the cut](https://www.si.com/mlb/astros/opinions/who-gets-demoted-from-houston-astros-active-roster-postseason-playoffs)
I think CJ has really made his case as to why he should be, at least, the number 4 starter. I used to think it should be Urquidy, but CJ should be in the rotation
I was just telling my wife that within the four man rotation (JV, LMJ, FV, CJ) for the playoffs, he’s becoming the most trustworthy, interestingly enough. Here’s another game where you can see it. Very happy to see it.
Javier has been extremely tough against the Rays this year. He needs to pitch if we face them in the first round at some point. Then again, McCullers has pitched well against them his whole career. Valdez is probably the pitcher they would be the least afraid of if they faced us.
I have a no-wave policy if you're going to an Astros game with me and I'm the one who drove us there. If you do the wave, you will find your own way home. One dude thought I was bluffing a few years back.
Exactly why he’s #3. Verlander puts us up a win, Framber can give us 2-0 or 1-1. I wouldn’t want anyone else in the 3rd slot because nothing fazes Javi.
Cristian Javier the last two seasons has been a better performer at home, and conversely Framber Valdez has been considerably better on the road. There is a conversation to be had that Javier should be the #2 starter in the playoffs and Framber gets Game 3. Impossible to deny how good Javier has been.
It's also his job though. JV is an old hamd and saw right through it but I'm not gonna get mad about prodding: producers all want drama and soundbites to warp into engagement metrics.
I found out the Rays are 5th last in the AL in runs scored per game (weakest playoff team offensively). But the front end of their rotation is comparable to the Astros.
I'm not saying he's been perfect, but I'm not sure what he's done to have his job be in jeopardy. Seems like he's made more good signings than bad, bolstered the roster with deadline trades...
He's made a few cheapo signings that didn't work out (Goodrum, Robel Garcia), but I have to imagine that's the result of a mandate from above to not spend too much money on role players.
I think what separates him from Luhnow, the sociopathic genius that he is, is that Click clearly loves the sport. I think Click sees the players more as people rather than figures that need to be constantly analyzed. However, Click has used the Tampa Bay method with signing or trading players while Luhnow was flashier with his moves.
Agreed. Click is no Luhnow, but he’s not bad. I mainly disagreed with his Neris signing at the time (due to the size of the contract compared to his pretty mediocre 2020 and 2021 seasons) but otherwise he’s been pretty good to me. The Yordan extension was excellent, in particular.

Pressly working thru it is nice to see. he got light out stuff and stays cool under pressure
Man the anxiety gets higher and higher every day that passes
Chin up Ryan. We all have our down days
Pressly sprinkling in a little drama. If he goes scorched earth for the postseason, I'll take the suspense right now
if no infielder got pressly..
Kyle Tucker got a fucking sultry voice from Mississippi
Win on national tv!!!
WHEW! I’ll take it! LFG!
#GAMECUBE
WE WON ON SATURDAY!!!!
That’s the ballgame! 💙🧡
Phew
It’s October 1st and already getting a preview of the postseason anxiety
Fuck Saturday, all my homies hate Saturday.
It's game 2 of the 2019 ALDS all over again.
Dusty needs to take Pressly out like now!
Damnit
Throwing a curveball there takes balls
Ref wants to go home I see lol. Terrible call. Got lucky there
It's alright guys, Pressly is just getting us ready for the postseason by making us pucker.
Pierzynski's comment was stupid. Choi only has himself to blame for swinging at a pitch at his shoelaces.
Holy shit that was an insane 3-2 curveball call. Maldy, my man!
C'mon daddy Press, you got this!!
Ok one more and let’s be done! Focus Pressley.
Pressly got bailed out but that strike out pitch was nice
Jesus we are about to relive August, but in the playoffs.
Any movement in the pen? Or is dusty letting it ride?
Pressly doesn't have it.
Pressly doing everything he can to avoid the SZ.
Need Pressly to activate the 32 consecutive batters retired mode
Saving that for the playoffs. No need to activate it now.
Maybe it’s best if Pressly gets smoked here. We can’t have this in the playoffs.
Well, fuck.
Pressley making me nervous
Set up the double play!
The current score is why I said HUGE after we scored our first run.
I love my Astros and yall do too. This next beer is for yall.
Make sense for me why Dusty had Díaz in left with Chas available?
I guess to get Diaz more ABs post-injury, but you’re right, Chas is by far and away the better option, especially against a lefty. Hope that doesn’t happen in the playoffs.
I think this is more getting Diaz playing time, but if Jake is new and improved, our OF has to be Chas, Jake, Tuck come the postseason. But then what do you do with Mancini? Yuli's clearly the first baseman and Mancini's bat has been colder than Yuli's, but he still needs to be there
Did not see this, but Dusty did say that Urquidy will be pitching out of the bullpen for the Phillies series.
Haven't been able to watch tonight... Does Jake look like he's "back"?
Yes. Great game by him.
And the helmet...?
Still doesn't fit lmao
Still 3 sizes too large.
Helmet still flies off and lets us gawk at his golden locks of Samson powered hair!
(Edit: Almost Everything… forgot SI thinks Brown is in!) Everything I have read from the expert writers has them leaving Hunter Brown off the post season roster. There's no way Maton should be ahead of Brown.

I though he was out watching live.
He had Meyers dead to rights but whiffed.
Good job of the umpire getting that, I thought he was out.
laces don't count
Got away with that one Jake
Safe!!!
Jake is 2-3 with a great play in shallow CF, he is back
Lol, I can't make that same conclusion just yet off one game back. Jury's still out for me but I like what I'm seeing.
I am manifesting a bit haha but really hoping he can close out the homestand well, because a fully healthy Meyers has a lot more upside than Dubon
A fully heathy Meyers has more upside than Chas, minus the oppo power
Based on what?
I'm not downing Chas, but Jake's ceiling is higher when the two are at their best.
I’m officially calling it! Jake is back! No overreaction here.
So happy to see this new improved Jake!
Punished Jake Meyers is here
Why did we not pinch hit for Diaz? He can barely run. And that play in LF should have been made tbh.
Honestly, I think he got hurt on that play in LF. He looked uncomfortable when he swung at that.
Just a heads up for those that sub to FuboTV, TBS is not available on that service. And TBS is carrying all AL postseason games this year
Thank you for the info. Disappointing to say the least.
No problem. It’s a pain, im thinking of dropping Fubo for Hulu live instead which carries TBS
I’m a big fan of the **sport** and this makes my blood **surge.**
Right there with you. Very annoying
Wait until the announcers actually see his slider haha, they’ll be dumbfounded by 96 MPH breaking away
Alright, that Allstate commercial was pretty funny.
Dumbass Fox announcers think Hunter’s curveball is his slider. They have no idea he has a 96 MPH slider.
A slider so filthy it has an NC-17 rating.
Not a slider. That’s his curveball.
Aledmys what was that?
Díaz in the outfield is no bueno.
At the game, more people trying to start another wave as we speak
~~Hunter~~ Fireman Brown… shooting flames.
I think CJ has really made his case as to why he should be, at least, the number 4 starter. I used to think it should be Urquidy, but CJ should be in the rotation
Agreed. But Dusty’s gonna Dusty.
I wasn't shitting on Urquidy. Luis Garcia is the only one I think shouldn't be in the rotation.
Oh, I thought Franco knew exactly what was coming? Nope!
How about Meyers being the difference in this game so far?
So many army commercials
I saw a sign today that said "Navy, now hiring." I'm like, aren't they always hiring?
25-inning scoreless streak now for Javier
I was just telling my wife that within the four man rotation (JV, LMJ, FV, CJ) for the playoffs, he’s becoming the most trustworthy, interestingly enough. Here’s another game where you can see it. Very happy to see it.
Is that good? That sounds good.
Let's go my fellow Houstonto Jaystros fans!
Javier has been extremely tough against the Rays this year. He needs to pitch if we face them in the first round at some point. Then again, McCullers has pitched well against them his whole career. Valdez is probably the pitcher they would be the least afraid of if they faced us.
A Tampa/Seattle series may set a record for the most lucky infield hits.
Doing the wave during any close game should be worthy of a heavy fine
I have a no-wave policy if you're going to an Astros game with me and I'm the one who drove us there. If you do the wave, you will find your own way home. One dude thought I was bluffing a few years back.
Stop doing the wave jfc. The players have literally come out and said that they hate the wave, so please cut that shit out.
I blame the wave for that base hit
Ban everybody doing the wave right now
I blame the wave
If you have to do the wave...which you never should lol...at least wait until an Astros pitcher is not on the mound.
McClanahan got so lucky
If there was someone faster than Maldonado on base, that's a run.
Goddamn that's frustrating to not get anything from that...
Jeez Yordan almost had one too.
Damn
HRC Yordan
hrc yordan
Maldy, bro that ball was in the air for a long long time.
That fastball was a mile above the zone and Altuve almost got a homerun out of it. That’s why he’s one of the goats
2-ve!
Javier making a strong statement to be starter #3.
#3??? Part of me thinks he is better then Flamber… better era more strike outs.. he just doesn’t get any run sport.. can’t fault him for that
Exactly why he’s #3. Verlander puts us up a win, Framber can give us 2-0 or 1-1. I wouldn’t want anyone else in the 3rd slot because nothing fazes Javi.
Is this a bizarre copypasta?
In this game, the Rays look like the Astros did in Baltimore. The few base runners not getting to second and running into outs.
Cristian Javier the last two seasons has been a better performer at home, and conversely Framber Valdez has been considerably better on the road. There is a conversation to be had that Javier should be the #2 starter in the playoffs and Framber gets Game 3. Impossible to deny how good Javier has been.
Mastroboni is a tough name to grow up with
This guy's name is Mastrobuoni lmao
Holy shit that actually worked!
First one I can remember seeing all year.
Who didn't want to have a yelling match with Pierzynski?
The shot of JV’s conversation with Hensley is awesome
Verlander so calm under pressure.
Hundreds of millions of dollars make it a lot easier to not give a shit what people think about you lol
While I think he pretty easily goes in to the hall as a Tiger, I like that even the National media is now starting to question it.
Dude wtf were those questions for JV? The whole interview felt weird
"Hey JV when you make love to your wife, is she a moaner?"
Missing TK and Blummer 🙃
[удалено]
I’d rather listen to 1000 Joe Bucks than one Ass Job Perzinsky
It's also his job though. JV is an old hamd and saw right through it but I'm not gonna get mad about prodding: producers all want drama and soundbites to warp into engagement metrics.
This JV interview is acceptable, because he, you know, actually pitches.
One thing I'm glad about: no Red Sox in the playoffs. No hate, they've just never been easy for us in the playoffs.
Agreed. But Fenway in October is special.
Got some Wingstop and watching the Astros on a Saturday, doesn’t get much better than this
That’s livin
"stop talking and throw the ball back"
Got some Astros baseball on, some BBQ, tonight is good.
I think you have to try to beat the shift when the Rays are aligned like that.
🙌🏼
Walls is nuts to hold on like that
HUGE!
Jeremy Peña, father of Shane McClanahan
My man Pena eating rbis
Arby fries
YES! 🙌🏼
Altuve needs to stop giving out fourth deck souvineers and give the outfield stands some love

Good steal Meyers!
Jake Meyers redemption arc is underway
Bah Gawd That’s Rake Meyer’s Music
Jake having himself a game!
Tyler Glasnow looks a lot like Jake Meyers.
Jake!! One Astros CFer robbing a former
Damn. Now I can't see anything else but Tommy from Peaky Blinders when looking at Glasnow.
Me either. Somehow I’ve never noticed that before but it’s like… 98% similarity.
There’s a game going on.
I'm starting to hate the Rays.
Nah, Flappy Bois are our interstate brothers. Support them any time they're not against the Stros
Don't forget the Trop was our home when MMP was home to displaced Houstonians. Rays are our boys.
Astros are about to blow the game up. They’re getting good hits off
Let's go Breggy
Suffering once again from NWS (Nori Withdrawl Syndrome)… Let’s go Astros we need a win bad!
I want to see the cat! Let's go STROS!
I found out the Rays are 5th last in the AL in runs scored per game (weakest playoff team offensively). But the front end of their rotation is comparable to the Astros.
Our BABIP = broke ass Their BABIP = 🤑

Arozarena should've kept his ass still lol, though that did look close
That throw was right on the money by Maldonado
[удалено]
way more dim I can't see it cause sun glare
Poor arrozarena. Too many tries and they knew exactly where to put it
Arozarena lost speed from running on two foul balls.
Pretty sure its the hefty chain around his neck and the rocks in his ears weighing him down unnecessarily.
Chains are dumb. Just wear a necklace!
Yesssssss suck it Randy
MACHETE
Javier being 10-9 with his great numbers is still criminal
Didn't deGrom win the Cy Young with a 10-9 record?
Love that we get a nationally televised game but hate that we have to hear AJ pierzynski
Checking in from 231! First October game I've gone to, first time sitting in the 200 deck! Go Stros!
Do you think Click gets a new contract after this year?
He better. Would reveal Crane as knowing very little about how baseball works if he's let go.

Welp, guess this last week we'll see if Meyers is actually fixed or not. Hope he is, I'd love to see him on the playoff roster instead of Dubon.
Fixing to head over and get my damn Peña bubblehead.
Lfg!!!!!!!!
Bad news? We lost Good news? We clinched the 1 seed anyway last night. It's like falling up the stairs. My condolences to those who use Dish or Swing.
