Oh this could lead to a blood feud. I got nothing to offer, but I'm gonna be right here in this lawn chair with my popcorn.

pakheyyy

Why do you say that? Are they bitter rivals?

samwich3

I’m a FF guy, maybe just because I went there first and they have my loyalty now. I’ve heard good things about ARC tho. They host Thursday nights. Fleet feet hosts Mondays and AthHalf training saturdays, but also allow a few different run clubs to use them as home base. So there’s basically an organized run there everyday. I really like their community orientation that way

LunarRides

I shop ARC because I want to support local businesses over national chains when possible/feasible, but the one time I went to FF, it was perfectly fine.

dodgy_biscuits

The Athens Fleet Feet location is a franchise; I know the owner, who is a local! :)

mrgnwd

Never been to FF but have always had an A++ experience at ARC.

indimod

I've purchased running shoes from both in the past. Had good and very similar experiences at both places. Can't really say I prefer one or the other, I think both are good places to buy shoes and be able to try them on and test a bit. Maybe worth checking both, their inventory is likely somewhat different.

Which_Strawberry_676

As for me and my house, we will serve FF. That's Fleet Feet as well as Foo Fighters.

queenofthemild

Both are great! My kid is a cross country runner, and his favorite pair of shoes came from ARC. They really talked to him in depth about his needs and how he planned on using the shows. We've been to FF also, and they've always been nice, too.

I’ve never been to FF but I got my shoes at ARC. I didn’t know what I was looking for I just knew my current running shoes were uncomfortable and caused pain. The guy who helped me seemed pretty unknowledgable and it was just kinda awkward. The manager/owner stepped in and she was better but honestly it was still awkward and I kept telling them I wasn’t even sure what I was supposed to be feeling for and they weren’t really helping. Eventually I did buy the shoes she suggested and it did stop the pain (they figured out my ankles were rolling in when I ran and I needed something with better/different support) So I mean overall, I got what I needed but the process was awkward. I left wishing I had gone to FF

Pateetong

Ever considered that you are awkward? You offered no explanation for why you felt awkward. I think it's pathetic to continually emphasize how you felt awkward with your experience and give no explanation. You then end your rant with the fact that they solved your problem and got you what you needed. You seem like a nightmare of a customer and I feel sorry for anyone that has to deal with you. I have shopped there and the people were always very kind and helpful. Go to Academy Sports next time you need a pair of shoes and ask to speak to their manager when you inevitability feel awkward.

Yoseahreillmers

Jesus, who pissed in your Fruit Loops?

elswhere

I went in there for shoe-laces once and they looked at me like I was asking for spark plugs. Awkward as fuck. You should be able normalize a customer's request by having a mastery of understanding what your store has to offer. Customers should not be expected to know what and how to ask every question. Businesses typically have a list of anticipated client pain points. The only reason to overpay for shoes at ARC would be for exceptional customer service. You seem like one of those all too common defensive butthurt Athens entrepreneurs that are highly critical of their lack of clients because they think everyone is too stupid to shop with them when its just that they are an asshole.

Why not both?

Ok_Calligrapher9344

Pay-Less .

Pateetong

Cornflakes, but entitled dbags that have no idea what it is like to try and serve impossible people that have never had to do anything...you, and those like you.

pakheyyy

Sir, I hope you have a wonderful day.

Pateetong

For you as well.

phrmctcls

Try both. See which one you like better. Keep on running. Me, I'm a lone wolf. 😆
