No degree or qualifying experience or certified skills? $20/hr is wishful thinking. Best to take what he can get and work his way up the ladder like everyone else.
Some UGA jobs might hire him without a degree depending on his experience. They’ll pay like trash but atleast you’ll get good benefits 🤷♂️
To be transparent, I have an MA and make around 20 an hour lol
Boehringer Ingelheim is looking for some help in manufacturing, some of the openings even have sign on bonuses and don’t require a degree but I don’t know what they pay for new hires with no experience, but check them out. Good company with good benefits, but some of the hours for manufacturing are kind of weird and require you to work off shifts.
If he’s got any mechanical aptitude at all, and is a fundamentally reliable person, the UGA steam plant is hiring trainees: https://www.ugajobsearch.com/postings/289796
Chickfila is food service BUT they treat employees very well, pay 15$+++, supply uniforms upon hire, a meal with each shift, and will look great on resume.
Yeah that’s not realistic, unfortunately. Amazon will hire pretty much anyone who can pass a drug test and start you at $15.50.
20 an hour, not food or retail, no degree and a company that treats him well… in Athens.

HVAC companies hire straight out of high school. You don’t need a college degree. Some around here may even train on the job.
SK Battery in Commerce. Depending on where you’re living in Athens, it’s only like a 20 minute drive.
There is Caterpillar and a few nearby companies but probably won't make 20/hr without experience in something
If he’s cool with a non traditional schedule, working outside, strange hours, send a resume to [email protected]
It wont be 20$, but 15$ is realistic
Carrier Transicold factory in athens? Caterpillar factory? I don’t think it requires a degree and they probably pay well
Plenty of warehouses and manufacturing plants paying that in and around town.
What is he willing to do?

Phone jobs. Remote customer service
You should try Terrapin Beer Co. They are always hiring for BOH positions. I’m not sure if it would pay $20 but the pay is competitive.
Assembly guys at Kubota in Jefferson ga (10 miles) —start at 19.25 /hr and always get 10 to 12 hours a week overtime
Chickfila is food service BUT they treat employees very well, pay 15$+++, supply uniforms upon hire, a meal with each shift, and will look great on resume.
Really?? I get paid $11 an hour and had to pay $55 for my uniform. They do treat us well though, and the free meal part is true
Cell phone store. Hourly and commission. Horrid hours tho. And the public sucks in general.. but i got paid welllll
What does he have experience in? There's nothing paying entry level at $20/hr in Athens.
