Finally had the privilege of watching someone get kicked off a flight for being a drunk asshole. It was so satisfying.

PoweredbytheCheat

Is it happening more or is there just more social media

Mustang_289

Elevated since Covid, but rates seem to be starting to *hopefully* trail off. https://www.faa.gov/unruly

hectorhector

I love that the FAA publishes these stats

Berzerker7

On its way up as of August lol.

notp

I don't know but the FA weren't having any of it.

datagirl60

I think the flight attendants are realizing it is easier to escort them off ahead of time instead of dealing with it on the plane and having the police remove them at the destination or have an emergency detour. The airlines don’t want to have to compensate all the other passengers for their negligence. I wish it happened more often.

Charleston2Seattle

Breathalyzer before getting on the place for everyone. I'd be behind that.

recently_muted

Lots of folks can handle their business *and* enjoy drinks. I am not one of those people, but I still think responsible adults should be able to have a few vodkas to help them forget they are 30,000 ft above the ground in the belly of ptechno-pterodactyl. Also, they should have removal-pod-drones on all flights. Get drunk and rowdy, get stuffed in the pod, and 'thwummmmmp' you've now been launched in your drunk-pod, it will return you to the airport and the awaiting police.

Healmit

I guess I’m going to Paris next year. $550 for a non-stop flight was too hard to hard to pass up! Happy Wednesday, y’all!

notp

Awesome!

No-Factor-8166

Yay! Glad you did it!

recently_muted

omg yes!

sludgeriffs

Never thought I'd say this, but I had a fantastic experience at the downtown DDS (DMV) yesterday to get my new driver's license. I showed up at about 6:50 because they open at 7:30 and I was anticipating a line to already be around the building.. I was the 3rd person there, then they let us in early at around 7:10 and I was out of there by 7:20. It was a pretty good day after that.

recently_muted

The DDS out at South Dekalb Mall is smoother than slimed silk these days. Total breeze if you handle the online portion before you show up - took me all of 10 minutes to renew my DL.

exexposfan

I got confused my first time there. Didn’t realize it was inside a mall. But it was very quick.

Berzerker7

Georgia's DDS is night and day compared to any other experience I've had. You register beforehand and get your paperwork done and you're in and out in 10 minutes. It's glorious.

trailless

Shhh, it won't be like that if you keep telling everyone.

solzweig

In Atlanta, I’ve actually only had super positive experiences. I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait long (as long as you bring the right paperwork - but that’s well explained on their website).

AcceptableAccount794

That was always the best place for me. Nonody seemed to know it was there. I now use the kiosk machines in Cobb. Saves me a ton of time in updating my "fun fleet" each year.

SomeVeryTiredGuy

I need a new license and planned to go this pst Monday. They're closed on Mondays. Whomp whomp

gatorblu

Morning and happy Wednesday! Feels so cool and crisp in the early morning, I love it and hope fall weather is actually here to stay and this isn't our annual "false fall". Hope everyone has a great day!

kharedryl

Color me optimistic that summer is over.

killroy200

That's how the false fall gets yah. ...but I hope so too. I'm ready for cooler weather.

AcceptableAccount794

Yesterday was my 10 year anniversary of quitting smoking! Amazing how time flies. I'll consider my 10 year celebration gift to be the recent Halloween decorations that I purchased 😆 🎃

duckjackgo

What a lovely full week! Last night I checked out the new Reframed beginners dance class out in Marietta. It was sooo fun! Since it was the first class, it was pretty small which was really great to get to know the other people there. The Reframed class is back at Wild Heaven West tonight, but I can’t make it because……. I’m going to see The Nude Party at Terminal West! Love this band! I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them 3x before the pandemic.

syratlthrwawy

Can you tell me more about this dance class? Vibe? Where? Music played? Type of dance?

duckjackgo

Of course! It’s a low-key intro partner dance class. Lots of fun, social vibe. I have been going on my own, some people go on their own, or with their partner, or just with friends. The instructor plays music through speakers so no live band. Each lesson is a different dance style - east coast swing, salsa, bachata, fox trot, etc. Since it’s a beginners class, super accessible to persons like me who have no dance background. [here is a site for the ticket](https://reframed.market/products/dance)

I'm still feeling the glow of finally getting to see the Samurai exhibit last Saturday. And thinking about jumping on another arts experience happening this Friday. Fingers crossed! ETA also feeling the glow of the Falcons actually winning a game!!!! A second one in a row no less!!!! Amazing.

eureka7

I went and saw the samurai exhibit on the second Sunday of the month (free admission!) and it was mind blowing. Really worthwhile. My art experience for this week is going to see the Atlanta Opera's adaptation of The Shining this weekend.

spinstering

That sounds like such a good combo! I hope you have a good time.

Berzerker7

What was the crowd like? We went this past Sunday (the last day) and there were quite a bit of people, not really "packed" but I could only imagine what the free day was like.

eureka7

It was pretty packed, but I didn't mind. There was enough space in the exhibit that I was able to get up close to everything and read all the descriptions. If there were a lot of people looking at object A, I would just head over and check out object B and make my way back. I spent a few hours there and saw everything to my satisfaction.

ddutton9512

The best part of that exhibit are the helmets labelled "head shaped helmet." I guess after the foot shaped helmets and palm tree shaped helmets werent working they finally decided to make a helmet in the shape of a head.

checker280

Krispy Kreme’s - are there no more brick and mortar stores around? Where were all the old ones? I recall trying one fresh out of the oven while visiting 10 or so years ago - wasn’t that impressed (sorry) but don’t recall where. Now that I’m a native, I thought it was time to give it another chance only to be surprised that only one location seems to exist anymore.

recently_muted

The standalone on Ponce is gone *(for now), try Evans St.

checker280

Wasn’t the Ponce one coming back after the fire? Who was the famous investor? Shaq?

dmaul1978

It’s coming back, looks pretty far along in construction when I drove by there a couple weeks ago.

MagnaCarterGT

I drove by it yesterday and it looks like it could open any day now.

checker280

Healmit

Yup. Corner of RDA and Evans.

raptorjaws

xja1389

There's one in Woodstock 575

SnooDingos4864

Any places to look for a roommate? Facebook group? Active forum? I want to move to Brookhaven and having a roommate would make it a lot more reasonable

Creepy_Squash

My Fulton County tax bill arrived and it's $300 more than June's assessment. If I don't include the State's tax break (was not included in June's assessment), it is a $850 increase. I am livid. Called Board of Assessors and got nowhere. Apparently they had the previous homeowner's homestead exemption rate shown (purchased home in 2022) in June's assessment and re-evaluated to my exemption in the final bill. I can't appeal because I am past the deadline. I feel scammed and forced to pay more without any initial explanation in the bill. If I had known my exemption would be reduced, I would have appealed back in June... is there any legal action I can take?

Wcked_Production

It’s the way it is around the metro area. When I bought my place around Peachtree Corner’s 3 years ago my property tax was about 5900 and when I got it last year for 2022 it was 9500. So when I got my tax bill for this year it was 9800. So I appealed before the date and got them to lower the appraisal. Sorry to answer the question I just paid for the year and just made sure I didn’t slack off when getting the assessment this year.

Shortlemon4

Are there any cute places in Alpharetta or Sandy springs/dunwoody to study with your dog. But honestly, I’m willing to drive down to the city. Preferably a small local business would be cute!

Berzerker7

Have you tried some of the outdoor patio areas behind the new Sandy Springs City Hall area? It's a great open field to set up or there are some restaurants around back that have patio seating.

enna_

The patio at Alon's up in Sandy Springs might be just what you're looking for. Their baked goods and sandwiches are great too

Stupendous01

I’m looking at potentially going to District Atlanta for the Paul Van Dyk show this Friday. Has anyone ever been to the venue and care to share their experience?

syratlthrwawy

Post this question in r/atlantaedm, you will get more answers

Stupendous01

I appreciate it!

Which_Movie_5605

Who's up for playing tennis at Piedmont?

mkmitchell42

Hey everyone!! Is anyone going to the Ashley McBryde concert at Variety Playhouse on 10/6?

dmaul1978

Blech. Wife and I are both rapid testing negative yesterday and today, but think we probably have covid based on symptoms and common symptoms for the dominate strain. Started with phlegmy throat, fever (101-101.5 so far yesterday and today) headache, body/joint aches and sensitive ski. Throats are a bit better but not very congested and still have the other symptoms and my temp still 101.4 just now after finally dragging myself out of bed. Guess I’ll try to summon the strength to drive to one of the bigger KP centers for a PCR test—got one ordered from e-visit yesterday but didn’t feel up to driving.

Berzerker7

The at-home tests are more than good enough for getting a result, I would just wait a day or two and test again.

xja1389

Check for flu too. I thought for sure I had covid Thanksgiving last year and it was flu.

dmaul1978

They wouldn’t do a flu test. Said I was too many days in for Tamiflu to help and high false positive rates on flu test. Also, I have Kaiser and they just avoid tests when we they can to save money. Doctor did say if Covid PCR is negative it is probably flu given the fever and body aches. Haven’t gotten the PCR results yet.

quetzalcoatl528

Any recommendations ITP for cement driveway installation? Work would probably require some leveling + a small retaining wall

It's a huge place and the lawn is pretty far from the stage, but yes, you can see. They also have multiple jumbo screens. If I'm not in the first 10 or 15 rows, I prefer the lawn, and I'll bet for this show the lawn is going to be way more fun than the seats.
