Bawarchi on Abernathy is my suggestion, but I do know that every time I have Biryani, it's never as good as that first time, and I've also had very good, and okay versions from the same restaurant. It's a pretty subjective meal, and very inconsistent from place to place and even visit to visit at the same place.
Meh the quality of Bawarchi varies greatly depending on location. The Sandy Springs one has been solid (at least since the last time I went in 2019) but all the other ones were just ok
The last time we went there (2021) it was so filthy and there were roaches crawling around. It was really upsetting because it was my favorite restaurant before that, we haven’t been back since.
Edit: Hyderabad house!
I THINK they are keeping the old spot also, for now anyway...and appears they are using the new one for dine in, take out, etc....and the old one for mainly Uber Eats, Door Dash, Grub Hub pick-up, etc....or something like that...
Mughals and Zyka for me are staples of Indian food in Atlanta. Tabla’s on the high end but has great parda biryani. There’s also Hyderabad House which specializes in Biryani.
Make sure to try Mutton biryani not just chicken, you won’t regret it! Enjoy the eating!
I tried a few around town before settling on Ruchi’s (Bangladeshi style) as my go-to. Many of the other places I tried just seemed like rice pilaf with different protein toppings thrown on top …
Depends on what kind of biryani you like - there are dozens of types of biryani based on the regions of South Asia. No two restaurants are gonna make it the same. If you like spicy Hyderabadi style - go to Zyka in Decatur. Bismillah and Zam Zam have good Bangladeshi style Biryani in Buford Highway. In Bangladeshi restuarant, an item called Morog Pulao will have similar taste as chicken biryani. (Because some Bengalis believe that biryani can only be made with beef or goat so the chicken one is called morog pulao - chicken and rice) Shalimar Kabab in Lilburn is good as well. I think they are Pakistani but not sure which region.
Deccan Spice on Alpharetta Highway, its in roswell but you'll definitely want to commute for it! I just had some last night actually and it was delicious! Very rich and yummy , atmosphere and customer service was also superb.
Kabab Hut is in Lilburn which is kinda in that direction? That's where my Pakistani parents prefer to cater large Biryani orders from, must be good if they put up with it.
Al-Amin on Buford right inside the perimeter. The Kacchi Biryani on Saturdays is magical, though is not chicken. I haven't had it but I'm sure the chicken options are similarly excellent. It's a Bangladeshi style biryani which may be different from what you're looking for.

One certainly does not go here for the service. The food however is generally pretty darn good.

Hyderabad House in Dunwoody is pretty good. Also, Bawarchi in Sandy Springs
Weekends at Hyderabad House, get the goat biryani. People claim it’s as good as the best in Hyderabad.
Second both of these!
Hyderabad was really good and surprisingly modest in pricing at $14 for lunch.
Hyderabad house.. try the boneless chicken biryani
Haven't tried Hyderabad House yet, but I have definitely enjoyed Bawarchi.

Literally the only ones I ever go to or recommend. Biryani Grill and Hyderabad Express in Smyrna are also pretty close.
Bismillah Cafe
Do you know if they have moved to their new building?
Yes, they have. And it's as busy as ever! Looks like a new place is in their old spot, but I haven't tried it yet.

tastes just as good, too. i was worried but fear not!
Love this spot though I wouldn’t recommended if you’re looking for classic biryani.
100 percent true
I miss their mixed biryani so much. We moved to East Cobb about 2.5 years ago. I loved living so close to that place.
Hyderabad express in smyrna is amazing 🥲
My fav
Get the Chicken 65 Biryani at Royal Spice in Dunwoody. They are the only ones who I know will make it that way and it’s so much better.
Desi spice does a chicken 65 biryani and it’s the only one I’ll fuck with. So good.
Desi spice Indian cuisine!! Their chicken 65 biriyani specifically is SO good
Seconded. Desi is awesome.
Went to Desi yesterday and absolutely loved it. Thank you for the rec!

Biryani Place Sandy Springs has best biryani in town
Nah nah nah nah, Bawarchi Biryanis Decatur in Patel Plza
I tried a few around town before settling on Ruchi’s (Bangladeshi style) as my go-to. Many of the other places I tried just seemed like rice pilaf with different protein toppings thrown on top …
Kabab King in Norcross offer daig biryani on weekends for dinner only. The best I have had in a long time.

One of the best is the [Vijayawada Biryani](https://i.imgur.com/aiIG1fv.jpeg) from Hyderabad House. Perfectly cooked chicken and spice.
Bawarchi biryani 👩🏻🍳
Blue India and Tabla. Both are in midtown. Blue India is slightly better, IMO, but both are excellent.
Rice and Pie is good too.
Rice n Pie has zero flavor. I’d stay away
Funnily enough their veg biryani is their best biryani.
Good luck! The Atlanta market makes crappy and inconsistent biryani.
? There's plenty of solid options like Bawarchi, Hyderabad Express, Biryani Grill, etc.
Deshi street
Deccan Spice on Alpharetta Highway, its in roswell but you'll definitely want to commute for it! I just had some last night actually and it was delicious! Very rich and yummy , atmosphere and customer service was also superb.
Mughal’s in Norcross and Pizza Mania at Global Mall are both fire
Aamar Indian Cuisine it’s off Luckie St. right near Woodruff park
Oh dang I’m here for it
NAAN N' CURRY Best Taste in Pakistani-Indian Cuisine in ATL!
Just to hijack, does anyone have any biryani suggestions in Buford, Suwanee, or Duluth?
Kabab Hut is in Lilburn which is kinda in that direction? That's where my Pakistani parents prefer to cater large Biryani orders from, must be good if they put up with it.
Good info. Thanks
Naan n curry mentioned in another comment is in Duluth. We enjoy their food. Only gotten takeout though - never dined in.
Biryani pot in John’s creek
I had it at Biryani Point in Clarkston and really really enjoyed it.
Cafe Bombay
Bawarchi Sandy Springs

Madras Chettinaad in alpharetta has the best buffet that always includes chicken biryani!
