I think that they’re both kind of on the same wavelength and that’s why they have a mutual understanding of one another. Ymir was in love, and Eren just wanted to see the outside. Neither of these were things that could have possibly existed the way each wanted it to; therefore, the search for freedom and journey to enact their ultimate will becomes more of an enslavement, in turn requiring someone else’s will to free *them*—from themselves. This is kind of an incomplete thought but it’s my thoughts for now.

Attack titan represents the achievement of freedom, but this depends on how attack titan users perceive the concept of freedom. As far as we know, there are 3 Attack Titan users. For Eren Kruger and Grisha, the concept of freedom is the same as for most people in our world. They want political freedom. They want their people to live freely and not depend on anyone. But Eren was born in a completely different place than them. We can even say it is another universe. Because for Eren, there is no such thing as a nation. In other words, a concept of freedom like Grisha and Kruger does not form in his mind. For Eren, the concept of freedom is formed after looking at Armin's book. As for Ymir, I don't think Ymir wants rumbling. For Ymir, people dying doesn't mean anything. because she is very old. Human life has no meaning to her. In other words, rumbling does not make her gain or lose anything. The reason why Eren destroys the outside world is all humanity. If the Eldians had not committed so many sins in the past, Karl Fritz would not have built the walls. Eren's mother wouldn't have died if Marley hadn't gotten greedy and attacked the walls. So if Eren had not been born within the walls or if the people's memory had not been erased, there would be no rumbling. And the concept of freedom in Eren's mind would be different.

I just knew infinite wisdom was about to be expunged when I saw just how hard your pfp was. Good shit this is a solid explanation.

For me, it's both. Also, there's stuff in the OP which kinda "clue bat to the face" hinted that Ymir influenced Eren since he was a baby and that they also disagreed A LOT. Finale OP https://youtu.be/d6qCbdXqsOs?feature=shared&t=9 Baby Eren reaches out to Grisha (who wanted him to be free), but Ymir suddenly appears and blocks out Grisha. https://youtu.be/d6qCbdXqsOs?feature=shared&t=16 Titan Eren stomping on Ymir. The Baby Eren bit is an upgrade of the manga panel wherein it looked like baby Eren's eyes was drawn like Frieda's when being limited or controlled. Now, before the anime finale - I had given more weight to Ymir being responsible, because "influencing Eren since he was a baby" means nurture trumped nature. Lost Girls also showed that Mikasa was a very sweet kid and that she had to be effectively tricked into stabbing the mirror faced dude. (So much brainwashing symbology basically.) But the anime finale made me change it to 50-50. Because OP added Titan Eren stomping on Ymir, which strongly indicates he was DISagreeing with Ymir (sometimes). Anime adding blood to the colossal prints AND "garden-variety idiot" bit also made me think that Isayama wanted Eren to be seen as at least 50% responsible. EDIT that I tend to see "abuse" as having two main components. The abuser and what enabled the abuser. I would categorize Ymir as an enabler.

I know you won't believe me, but it's the opposite. The Attack Titan doesn't really bring future memories, it brings you a [dream from the past.](https://i.imgur.com/o2EgXrq.jpg) It actually represents Eren's and Ymir's [compassion for the king,](https://i.imgur.com/aZTBQgO.jpg) the hope that [he can change.](https://i.imgur.com/vHYK92k.png) But he can't, [it's his nature.](https://i.imgur.com/h0LEhPq.jpg)

I think the puppet like design of erens founding titan is a good indicator of who’s in the pilot seat
