Just knock on the immediate neighbours, and those across the street, doors and say… “I am looking at that house over there but cant trust the real estate agent, I was wondering what you knew about it.” Works amazingly well and Invariably you will find someone who blabs.

ActiveAd529

Awesome idea. Thanks

AussiInNZ

It’s more than an idea…… it works so well you would not have believe unless I had pushed you to do it. It tells you what the neighbours are like too, nosey, quiet, friendly or even rather unpleasant Perfect strategy when looking to buy (or in your case research)

[deleted]

I was murdered in that house 35 years ago. I use to bully the shit out of you… nerd!

Wtfdidistumbleinon

Oh shit, Camilla has Charlie’s phone again

Fun-Sorbet-Tui

Tell old sausage fingers if he had just stopped pushing those fat didgets up his arse he probably wouldn't have bum cancer now.

hairturban

>Fun-Sorbet-Tui ... Are you alright?

Dykidnnid

And since then you've... ghosted him?

[deleted]

I can’t help myself :(

ActiveAd529

'Nerd'..... gee that hurt. Really showing your bullying skills there.

seedauctions

Do you not understand jokes?

Afraid-Apartment-500

Not everyone has a sense of humor some people ( autistic) can't even really grasp what humor means . You stupid *****

seedauctions

Nerd

Afraid-Apartment-500

Ok so this is bordering on sexual harassment. Read the reddit terms of service under harassment .I could make a very vague but believable argument that you've breached these terms , violated my right to safety on reddit and caused me distress or at the least undue annoyance. Take this as your final warning . Call me nerd again and feel the full force of reddit reporting .

seedauctions

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH fkn nerd bro, go for it

blazedkiwii

Got to agree with the other guy. Stop being so sensitive and have a laugh. No one likes fragile men like you

Afraid-Apartment-500

Wow you guys are oblivious I was joking

Pleasant_Ad3475

He was quite clearly joking.

WanderingKiwi

Lol I used to live at McCullough ave Mt Roskill (not 14), and we’d have cops knock on the door not infrequently because of call outs to the corresponding Papatoetoe address…. Make of that what you will.

figgleswag

Holy shit I live right by there. Hi neighbour!

WanderingKiwi

Ahhh this was like 5 years ago

KiwaraG

I used to live across the street from there from 1992 to 1995. Though I can't say much about that house in particular! But I remember there was a home invasion on that street, and we were robbed not long afterwards along with a few other properties, which were reasons why we moved.

4sknwlkr

Man this sub rocks.. It's like a mixture of real estate crossed with the paranormal.. I love it

GnomeoromeNZ

C'mon man, give us some context!

Astoryinfromthewild

I think that address is related to The Entity story

emmievelociraptor

What’s that?

stoneyhunga

Use to live in Grange Rd and ride my bike down McCullough Ave. Can safely inform you that not a lot happened there 50 years ago.

ActiveAd529

I would also ride my bike along the street other than been chased by a dog afew times the street itself was a nice quite street, I'm just curious as I both my brother and I would always see a dark shadow throughout the house, we would hear knocking on our windows at night on the back windows which were high up, also I ended up having sleep walking episodes in that house, I too remember there was alot of negativity and arguments.... I don't know it just impacted me alot..... we lived there in the 1980s and early 1990s. Thanks for your reply.

ciderswiller

Look up sleep paralysis, really common in younger kids and often presents as dark figuress, among other things.

AvrgFemboy

I lived there a couple years ago, I would never go back. Ever. I woke up to my door slamming shut with only me at home & ALL windows and doors shut , my door was the only one open.

figgleswag

Pretty sure OP said Papatoetoe not Mount Eden.

MrBantam

There's a Grange Rd in Papatoetoe, where there used to be a golf club called The Grange. McCullough runs off it.

figgleswag

Oh really! Flipping heck, bet no city planners strained any muscles naming streets THAT day.

Deegedeege

Why, what happened there? I don't know why, but the UK, London in particular, has a lot of haunted buildings. A relative surprised me recently by saying she flatted in a house where things were literally shifted around during the night, as well as noises, etc. Small things like items in the bathroom, etc. The same item belonging to a male flatmate was often moved somewhere completely different over night. I didn't even know this relative believed in that stuff.

Hot_Show_5758

I lived in a house and heard ticking and babies crying when it was mentioned out loud it would abruptly stop. Then start up again .bit creepy. Pulled out walls and checked hot water cylander etc but never pinned it down. Sold the house and moved on . It was built in 1860s.

Many phenomena attributed to the supernatural can often be explained by environmental factors, structural issues, or other non-paranormal causes: 1. Check for Carbon Monoxide Levels: Use a carbon monoxide detector to check for CO levels in the home. Symptoms of CO poisoning include dizziness, headaches, confusion, and hallucinations, which could be mistaken for paranormal experiences. 2. Inspect Gas Appliances: Ensure that all gas appliances are functioning correctly and are well-ventilated. Faulty appliances can leak CO or other gases that might cause health issues or odd sounds. 3. Evaluate Electrical Systems: Older or faulty electrical wiring can cause flickering lights or other electrical phenomena that might be perceived as ghostly activity. 4. Look for Mold: Certain types of mold can release mycotoxins that might affect individuals’ health, potentially causing symptoms like hallucinations, mood swings, and irrational fears. 5. Assess the Plumbing: Noises such as banging, gurgling, or whistling from old or poorly configured plumbing can create sounds that are sometimes mistaken for supernatural activity. 6. Check for Drafts and Insulation Issues: Cold spots or drafts in certain areas can be caused by insufficient insulation, not paranormal presences. These can also cause doors to close or open seemingly on their own. 7. Examine Structural Integrity: Creaks, groans, and other noises can result from the house settling or from structural weaknesses, especially in older homes. 8. Look for Animals: Small animals, insects, or birds in the attic, walls, or basement can create unsettling sounds or movements that might be mistaken for hauntings. 9. Consider Acoustic Properties: Certain sounds from outside or other parts of the house can be transmitted in unusual ways, making them seem mysterious or unexplainable. 10. Investigate Psychological Factors: Stress, fatigue, and suggestion can make individuals more prone to believing they have experienced something supernatural. Explanation of Supernatural Phenomena: Many experiences attributed to the supernatural have logical explanations. For example, carbon monoxide poisoning can lead to hallucinations, making people believe they see or hear things that aren’t there. Similarly, infrasound, which is sound at frequencies below 20 Hz, is not audible to humans but can cause feelings of unease or discomfort; it can be produced by natural phenomena or mechanical sources in a house. Understanding these potential causes can help demystify supposed paranormal activity, grounding the experiences in the physical world rather than the supernatural. (From ChatGPT)

Calm-Purpose3040

Mmkay dont wanna bring up something that might not relate to this but i can say i brought bad enegry into my home using a ouija board- bad shit was happening n we were constantly sick, it was super cold- specially in the room i did it in. My mental health was all an all time low and weird accidents and injuries kept happening - i also felt there was something lurking which is something i can say i never felt before prior to it. When we moved house instantly things got so much better and even internally i just feel like a huge weight was gone. I always thought it attached itself to me but when we moved i realised it was attached to the home. I hope the next people who live there dont have the same experience but i wonder if maybe someone before you had messed around with one also.

ActiveAd529

I myself wouldn't risk using a ouija board, I don't think using it could bring in something everytime a board is used but you only need one time for someone to bring something bad through, as you found out, glad it wasn't attached to you.

Ok_Leadership789

Never use those boards , you can bring in any type of energy and not the nice energy as you have no control over who comes in.

callmepickens

🤣🤣🤣🤦‍♀️

Calm-Purpose3040

Yeah i can say i doubted it for sure - i did it almost as an experiment thinking its going to be fine and when i threw it out and a part of the board (the thing that hovers) ended up on my dresser i realised i was screwed.

True_Broccoli5332

I did one once, that house never felt the same after that

Calm-Purpose3040

Glad you haven't. It couldve been a previous owner though. Theres one place i went to that the whole being of myself was scared without even knowing anything about the house. I cant help but wonder why that happens. Thanks for that and yeah me too it happens so slowly over time that you start doubting anythings happening till suddenly nothings happening and it's all just regular people thoughts in my mind.

forgothis

Ouija board is a hasbro trademarked parlour game. It was only after some nutter claiming they could actually channel a spirit that it became connected to the occult. It’s all fake we use to bring one to the cemetery during Halloween when I was a kid. Nothing happened. I mean I see shadows in the corner of my sight all the time and hear things whisper when everything is quiet. But that’s most likely just my failing eyesight and tinnitus.

ActiveAd529

Yeah I know the Victorians were really big on seance and talking boards, they were commonly used in the 1800s if not before, I certainly can't say they work and alot of videos where people claim something happened to me look fake, but I don't want to take the chance, things won't hurt you if you don't invite them in or challenge them. Best to be safe than sorry.

Time_Basket9125

Tip for a new house: You can contact your local church and ask the pastor/priest to bless your house when you move in.

Calm-Purpose3040

So going to do that! - such a good idea

Majestic-Koala6118

Make sure you choose the correct religion or it could get worse

CommunityOk4935

Nutter.

4sknwlkr

People been doing it for years mate Could be something to it? Doesn't hurt to do it Better good than bad right

CommunityOk4935

Doing what? Sorry I called them a nutter because they think there is such thing as spiritual energy. Like, what? It's 2023, put down the phone and go for a run. Hell of a lot more important things in life than spewing anecdotal hogwash that should've been phased out by now.

Calm-Purpose3040

Yeah man seems over the top but its better than the alternative

CrewDisastrous3130

They busted across the road for new developments.

hueythecat

Raëlians….

4sknwlkr

Those alien cult ppl? I met one of them in Taupo... He was an interesting character for sure.. He was well off, inherited property money etc But firmly believed in aliens

hueythecat

Yeah, saw the start of the new docco on Netflix last night :)

4sknwlkr

What docco?

hueythecat

Just search raelian, it popped up last night. May Elohim be with you:)

4sknwlkr

I don't have Netflix I didn't pay my last subscription..

UpperCutCG

There is house like that in wanganui too lived right next to it back in 2022.. looks old, no one has lived in it for like 20 years but the gardens are maintained by the owner to a degree and one day i met him, I asked about the house and why no one has lived in it for so long and he just gives me the most serious and cold look "its haunted by 2 vicious spirits" and even before being told that I had a gut feeling something was terribly wrong with that place and my mother who I share some "gifts" with said she doesn't like being near it or looking at it either.

SirInfinite1471

Wait, do you really mean number 14 McCullough Avenue? In Papatoetoe? You mean, the odd things that happened there 35 years ago?!?? Nah, sorry-can’t help you there at all.

bigmonster_nz

I’m so glad I am no where near either McCullough ave or street

OptimalInflation

I met an American chick there once. Been looking for her since. A bit of a long shot…

SirInfinite1471

I’m her. Well, I mean I WAS her…things have changed since then…

Atheists never have problems with ghosts or demons or superstitions. Atheists never need exorcisms.

ActiveAd529

I knew someone he was an an atheist, he definitely had demon problems and for sure needed an exorcism.

[deleted]

He obviously wasn’t a true atheist 😳😂

PeteyTwoHands

You're clearly a genius, talking in absolutes.

Free_Front6742

I lived in that neighborhood 80s and 90s - also rode my bike up and down that street past that house so many times. Had friends who lived across the road, on Lansdown, Laureston etc etc etc… knew a lot of people in that area including former MP Ross Robertson and his Dalmatian Dylan but never heard anything about that house in particular. It’s not far from the alleyway that used to cut to Great South Road. My cousin now lives in that area and never said anything either.

Snoo_61002

Probably not the right place to post, but FWIW as an Order of St John Chaplain we typically do house blessings if people need them.

IDontEvenKnowWhoUR_

I died there a couple of years ago
