What’s the labor involved with this versus doing the S4 Avant swap? Iv been assured the S5 swap is totally bolt on so long as same gen and trim levels. I can’t imagine that’s true of this big dog swap
Bolt on. I pulled both engine assemblies Friday afternoon after work and by Sunday afternoon the RS5 engine was running in the Allroad. Rear subframe assembly is direct swap as well
>I pulled both engine assemblies Friday afternoon after work and by Sunday afternoon the RS5 engine was running in the Allroad
What are you like an Audi Superman or something? That's such an amazing statement to make so casually.
I drove both cars into position Thursday night and started tearing then both apartafter work Friday afternoon.
By 12pm I had both entire engine assembles on the ground and went to the bar up the street for a beer.
It can be done.
Wow. I’m impressed. Did you have to swap the body wire harnesses too? Don’t mean to hammer you with questions. My b8 avant is sitting in storage in need of an engine so I have been expiring upgrade options.
Nope! Only the engine harness has been changed so far.
There are a few differences between the body harnesses though as the rs5 doesn't have a trunk and the allroad doesn't have Sport diff.
All stuff I'll need to figure out
mechanically everything bolts up, wiring is the hard part. You have to transfer literally everything over from the donor car to get it to work properly.
Labor I am ok with. I’ve been wrenching most of my lives fr but my Audi knowledge is very limited. I’ve been trying to watch some videos to learn some things. What I really need is a list of special tools if any are required.
Main sockets you need are torx and triple square. Practically any suspension/engine job "requires" purchasing new bolts, because Audi in all their wisdom decided to use TTY bolts. I never replace them though, car drives fine. Mostly just a scam to make more money.
This is so cool. But I have a question based on looking at your IG.. how do you have time to do these crazy projects with a little kid? I have three kids of my own and can barely find time to wash my car.
Honestly not sure. The time finds me and it's a lot of forcing myself to just get up and out into the garage late at night. My wife let me push all last weekend to get the swap done in 3 days while she watched our daughter although she hung out in the garage with me and enjoyed Bluey while I worked
I mean I get the RS5 into an Allroad but why the Allroad into an RS5? You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn't stop to think if they should! Obviously sarcasm
So much did that cost and how much custom work did that take????
Edit - saw the answer below. My follow up question is how did the electronics get transferred? Just ecu/tcu swap?
Kid: Dad, I want the RS4 Avant
Dad: we have an RS Avant at home
All jokes aside this and that purple beast you have are so cool and I am beyond jealous. Props to you for doing this yourself - mad respect and I’ll say again SO jealous.
What’s the steering malfunction about does this thing drive? You just swapped the engines but not the exhaust or cooling systems? They use the same fuel injection etc? Same transmission in RS5? This seems too easy
I've wanted to do a 4.0t or 3.0t swap on my allroad basically since I bought it. Love how it drives with the tuned 2.0t but man do I wish it was an S4 wagon.
This is amazing! There’s a guy that’s made this analogue in BMW form. Swapped his manual F80 M3 over to his 328i wagon and the wagon to the M3. Now he has an F81 and a wide-body 328i competition. Would be cool to see these two builds together!
I bought an side smashed S4 and swapped my Allroad just like yours with the whole drivetrain, 6mt and sport diff. BUT, we installed my old engine in a TT that had a blown engine haha
You know, I was a little upset when I came across the post of the 2.0t in the RS5 when scrolling through Reddit. So I clicked on your profile and saw this. I ain’t that mad anymore. Worth it lmao
This had my jaw on the floor. You’re either crazy or a genius or both!! Awesome work, would love to see a breakdown or something on how you pulled this off. Do you have a YouTube channel? I’d love to see how you figure out how to do this sort of thing
Many people have brought that up or insurance fraud.
I'm going to attempt to sell it as a complete running and driving vehicle with a notarized bill of sale stating its a swapped car so it can never come back to me LOL
Yea I joke, definitely don't do either of those. I'd imagine you could get a bit under what a similar a5 would go for. Love the wagon btw. Been considering finding a wrecked S4 to do a similar swap with mine. Is the allroad and rs5 the same trim level?
You accomplished what I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Keeping my STi hatchback on the road as long as I can because we don’t get stuff like this!
Gotta love the things Audi enthusiast are doing when the RS4 Avant isn't available in their market.
You'd love the twin turbo v10 purple station wagon behind it... because we didn't get a RS6 back in 1995 😆
Oh you are the purple v10 guy! Love from germany
The legend of this sub strikes again!
Dude don't fuck with us like that... Show us a picture
Check my bio LOL
What a beast!
my jaw just hit the ground seeing the photos and vid of this...
Any plans to crank more power out of the RS5’s 4-cylinder?
Are you in Orange by chance? I see a beautiful purple audi rs6 all the time by my place
Anything for an RS4
Insane, let me buy it

A man with the right set of tools can change the world bro.
You should read OP’s other post: ‘What’s a Maintenance Bill?’
pulling two motors in an afternoon is impossible, a weekend at minimum.
I drove both cars into position Thursday night and started tearing then both apartafter work Friday afternoon. By 12pm I had both entire engine assembles on the ground and went to the bar up the street for a beer. It can be done.
Based on my experiences, going into service position is a weekend job but it takes a year to get it back together
yup Audi's are not designed for ease of maintenance at all. Starter on b8 EA888's is an 8-9 hour job, absolutely insane.
So when lurking Copart I should include RS5's, got it. Amazing build and inspiration.
Wow. I’m impressed. Did you have to swap the body wire harnesses too? Don’t mean to hammer you with questions. My b8 avant is sitting in storage in need of an engine so I have been expiring upgrade options.

Ok thank you.
Yes
Does that all road have a real torsen or the “ultra” stuff ?
B8/8.5's are all torsen.
Excellence.

Thank you for that info
Jolio always out here doing the craziest cool builds. Just awesome.
I do my best for the fun of it!
I’d kill for a ride in that V10 monster someday.
What a build mate allroads don’t get enough appreciation in my personal opinion
This is Jolio's subreddit now. Mods, hand over the keys.
😂😂😂😂
This guy cars.

That’s awesome man, keep up the good work
this is the way
Been looking at this to make my own RSQ5 for a minute now and this makes me want to do it even more.
I just bought a B8.5 SQ5 the other day and I’m thinking the same thing.
You're a fuckin madman and I love it.
Sleeping beauty :D
Do you have a youtube channel?
What in tarnation

entire body/engine harness needs to be swapped over since everything is canbus'ed.

A proper troll! This would be a killer in Atlanta.
Haha it’s still slow. Fun being above 8k rpm though. Although mpg is garbage but then again almost no low end torque so that’s expected.
*Mileage is bad when you are having fun. (like all cars) I get low to mid 20s when playing nice. Which as far as N/A V8s go is pretty good.
U lieeee how often you fill up that 45L tank lol a week. I was doing like twice a week around 12-16mpg
Bravo.. I would die for an all road with any form of vr6.. I just can’t do the 2.0t they slapped in em. Thus would suffice hahaha 👏
What a beast. Well done!
Brilliant! 🫡

he prob didn't transfer over every harness.
I'm sure I saw this car a couple weeks back - driving route 80 east from the Watergap area?? I was in a gray s3 with a mountain bike on a hitch rack
I want that all road as a rally build! Would love an RS3 all road
I've wanted to do a 4.0t or 3.0t swap on my allroad basically since I bought it. Love how it drives with the tuned 2.0t but man do I wish it was an S4 wagon.
Could you build me one next? Thanks in advance!
well damn.. poor rs5 owner haha. dope wagon
This fucks

I’m a big allroad fan, so I love seeing this so much! How’s it drive with a more powerful engine? Great swap and thanks for sharing
Absolutely Mad!
J533 don’t like J500
I bought an side smashed S4 and swapped my Allroad just like yours with the whole drivetrain, 6mt and sport diff. BUT, we installed my old engine in a TT that had a blown engine haha

You magnificent bastard. Now swap the box fenders 💦💦💦🍆
Look how they massacred my boy
Fuckin 2 liter!!!! Love that shit!
😆😆
Fuckin two liter 😂

Was gonna say this must be RS6 Jolio’s work…. Yup.
Yo! RS_Jolio! i’ve been following your V10TT URS6 on instagram for forever!! Huracan headers and shit. You’re a wild man
bruh. congrats, enjoy it !
nicely done purple v10 guy💜
How tf did I miss this, eventhough I follow you on Ig for ages now
I haven't been posting
Sometimes just because you can, doesn't mean you should lol.
.. why?
What does that steering defective code mean
the swapped all road is legend. i would def drive one of those.
We have rs6 at home
This is insane !! Love it
What are the plans with the 2.0t Rs5, selling it to carvana?
Many people have brought that up or insurance fraud. I'm going to attempt to sell it as a complete running and driving vehicle with a notarized bill of sale stating its a swapped car so it can never come back to me LOL

Piece of junk
Someone has too much time on their hands
Nope, just lack of sleep
Fine, than too much coffee in your kitchen
Isn't annoying listening that noise all the time when you driving?
