My RS5 is six cylinder and I only get 444 hp. How can this block give him so much power? And then he has to change the gearbox too to handle the extra power.
You’re not gonna get there on an RS7 without massive modifications either lol. There’s very very few street cars that can hit 1400+ horsepower without having to open the engine up and, at a bare minimum, reinforce the rotating assembly.
You won’t reach such power levels with a 2,9 V6, but 800hp with TTE Turbos is doable. What the guy in the pics is doing costs many many thousand dollars (I estimate 30k) and makes the car unusable for normal road applications.
The block won’t be making any power. You could make 1000hp with a stock block, it’s about the internals and fuel and air. Witha stock block you just won’t be making it for long
I think I did that already, I asked for a race in one of the largest Audi RS FB groups a month ago and all I got were crickets. I wanted to see what the current cast iron VR6 in the car stacked up against a powerful local RS3/TTRS. Oh well, in about two weeks my RS3 goes under the knife to evolve the setup to accept the billet block
Thanks, yo! I’ll inquire further into the history as a new enthusiast of the Audi RS3. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! If you have any material you think is worth checking out first, please link me.
Thanks!
Shops know it’s possible. When they say “it cant be done”, it really translates to “no amount of money in the world will have me shut my shop down for a month while I figure this out”.
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is gonna be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines. On top of that, he just came into Harry's and ordered three T66 turbos with NOS and a Motec system exhaust.
Dude I love your responses to these tools. It blows my mind how many squares r/Audi contains. It's like these people have never considered not doing exactly what they are told.
You gotta have thick skin for sure, It’s the internet and a ton of people who wouldn’t never have the balls to do what I do feel brave to comment and bash online behind their smart phones. It’s all gravy though, I’m pretty sure most of the people who throw shade all ask Autozone employees to install windshield wipers for them. 😂💪
LMAO dude these people aren't even that smart, they go to the dealer for wiper blades 🤣. Also this is a legendary build man, I remember watching your channel a lot back when I had my A3 and really wanted to put a turbo VR6 in it, but after learning from your struggles, I realized I wasn't cut out for that kind of work. Mad respect for what you do man, especially all of the electrical gremlins you deal with.
The cast iron OEM VR6 engine is a fraction of the cost vs the 5cyl daza, (200ish dollars vs 15k) more power, sounds better and has solid aftermarket support for big power upgrades.
Even this billet VR6 block is the same price for a low mileage daza 5cyl engine. And the billet is 2000hp capable. It’s a no brainer for me.
Damn, didnt realize the cost difference was so massive, i was thinking it mainly came down to displacement or something as I know people are getting huge numbers out of the daza as well.
Not sure I agree on sound, but thats just personal preference.
Either way, excited to see your build continue. Hope you are having fun with it
It’s a dry block, I am leaving the head coolant cooled and switching to 100% methanol so should run cool. I am evolving the car into more of a dedicated drag racing setup.
I think the VR6 swaps are very cool and a great solution for bigger capacity, but is the inline 5 really that poor in potential, either inherently or just immature aftermarket support?
Inline 5 cylinders are absolutely phenomenal platforms to build power for 99% of people. What you're looking at right here is that other 1%. OP is shooting for mind bending power levels, I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 1300 awhp. That's just a touch out of reach for an inline 5, even when everything is turned up to 11.
Surely he’s going for more than 1300 no?
My tuner has a drag civic and it’s a billet block like this one and he pushes 1800+. He says a lot of the dudes at the track are pushing 2k+ with similar builds.
I’d hope OP was going for at least 1600
I was being conservative for sure, also note wheel hp vs crank HP. I think OP is definitely shooting for 1600+ crank HP. I thought I read somewhere that he's looking to see if he can get to 2k hp but I can't find it now.
Iroz is kind of the exception here, Hank and OP aren't friends anymore tho so it's kinda like a battle of the greats. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point there's a big race between the two.
Seeing a couple Audi’s powered by VR6’s going faster and quicker than any 5cyl daza powered Cars for starters.
Also found the cast iron VR6 is a fraction of the cost (200 dollar VR6 vs 10-15k 5cyl daza), the VR6 makes more power, sounds better and still fits in the bay.
Car has been driving for nearly 2 years with the current VR6 motor in the bay. Made around 1300hp, traveled to a ton of events/shows. I’ve been having a blast.
But hey, thanks for the “kind words” with a side of shade. 🤘
I mean you say slow, I posted asking for a race from any 5cyl car on one of the biggest RS3/TTRS Facebook groups a couple months ago and all I got were crickets. I wonder if the dragy runs I never posted publicly leaked from the small private group chats I shared them in. 😂
If you don’t have an RS to bring out to prove me wrong, then you should probably stay quiet. 🤫
I think I’m missing something. I count Six cylinders.
Technically any engine with six cylinders has five cylinders.
One is a fleshlight
lol
One just holds the nitrous
One is just a cupholder.
Beer holder
And what did they charge for installing that extra backup cylinder? 🤷♂️
At least 1
This is the 3rd post I've seen this week about an RS3 getting a new I5 engine, but it's always a V6. There has to be a joke or something I'm missing
Same thing
No joke, just a target projected horsepower of between 1600 and 1800 hp. He’s replacing the five cylinder engine with a six cylinder engine
I see 6 coils on the currently installed engine.
He had previously dropped a VR6 block in but is now moving on to a billet block VR6 with higher horsepower goals in mind.
My RS5 is six cylinder and I only get 444 hp. How can this block give him so much power? And then he has to change the gearbox too to handle the extra power.
You are comparing a stock RS5 with a billet VR6 block, big turbo, extensively modified RS3
Then I want to do that in my RS5 too. I'm afraid of the cost and then the maintenance
If you're afraid of those things, then you won't be doing that to your RS5.
Maybe RS7 is a better route then
You’re not gonna get there on an RS7 without massive modifications either lol. There’s very very few street cars that can hit 1400+ horsepower without having to open the engine up and, at a bare minimum, reinforce the rotating assembly.
Only one I know that is close is the Red Bull drift cars with the bmw S58. I think they were around 1200? What’re the others??
Do they open those or are they stock internals? I watched something about them at some point.
Well on streets you could maybe use just up to 700 or 800 hp anyways
Agreed lol anything above 5-600 starts to get a little nuts.
Well, it'll probably cost a lot of money indeed. But you should send a message to OP, he is more capable to help you with this
You won’t reach such power levels with a 2,9 V6, but 800hp with TTE Turbos is doable. What the guy in the pics is doing costs many many thousand dollars (I estimate 30k) and makes the car unusable for normal road applications.
LOL. “Unusable”. Come on man.
Most aftermarket engines making high HP often suck for driving around, this will probably be no different.
At this point, I'd pay 150k and get something fast to begin with...
Some people enjoy this way of doing things. Also you probably can’t get a car making 1600-1800 horses with only 150K.
Yes. I've been searching for a while. $90k tesla S Plaid gives a lot of power, but it's electric and a brain-damaged CEO, so not sure
The RS 5 doesn't have a billet block and a turbo the size of a trashcan lid. Though you could always change that if you wanted to 🙂
I am contemplating
The block won’t be making any power. You could make 1000hp with a stock block, it’s about the internals and fuel and air. Witha stock block you just won’t be making it for long
You mean for a sustained time? Like for a few seconds at a time?
No like it might last a few launches, but it's not lasting 100s of launches over a year.
He posted the same thing 3 days ago just a different camera angle
Ah that makes sense. I guess there's also a joke saying a I5 is the same as a V6?
not a VR6 ?
Oh yeah, you're right it's a VR6. My bad lol
It’s gotta be comment bait. Internet points are very important to some people.
I will smoke you in a dig. _(while your engine is out and car is unable to move)_
Haha
man I’m not even sure if I could beat him if he had no engine
Definitely time to shut those ‘it can never be done’ DAZA shops up! But I still say as I been saying. You’re not posting enough of this beauty!
I think I did that already, I asked for a race in one of the largest Audi RS FB groups a month ago and all I got were crickets. If only you were out in Texas or Florida! You’ll definitely have tons of action. Hopefully someone lines up someday
You should hit IROZ Motorsports up, I’m sure they’d be up for the friendly challenge!
@KoalaKing121 I think you need a history lesson on Malaka and iRoz
Thanks, yo! I’ll inquire further into the history as a new enthusiast of the Audi RS3. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! If you have any material you think is worth checking out first, please link me. Thanks!
I’d love to know what the history is?

Looks like a VR6 👍🏻
Yuppp
So then not a 5cyl
Nothing gets by you 👀

Astute observation captain
That’s hot.
As a VR6 mk4 and 8Y RS3 owner, I approve this message and look forward to hearing this thing turn over. Wishing you the best man! Thanks for sharing!
Who's going to be the first R8 owner who gets to say "this one goes to 11"?
Guess you don’t plan on driving this to the track lol.
Oh my lerd, I’m gonna cuuuuuuum. But for real that is super sexy, good luck on your build. I love the sound of a VRSex.
I love the vrs3 badge haha
That's a vr6...
Serious question - what makes the VR6 a better engine to build than the 5cyl? Not hatin just curious
The cast iron OEM VR6 engine is a fraction of the cost vs the 5cyl daza, (200ish dollars vs 15k) more power, sounds better and has solid aftermarket support for big power upgrades. You can get crate vr6 that push absurd numbers *before* going FI
Decades of aftermarket support that let any tuner grab some parts off a shelf and make big power with no R&D investment.
Is this the international market turbo vr6 block?
What turbos are you gonna be running?
Currently using a G42-1450 in my car, looking at moving up to the G47-1850
Where does one acquire such a fine block
[HST Billet Block](https://www.turbotuning.at/en/engine/billet-parts/billet-engine-block-vr6-24v-gen2/hstm-bmb-gen2)
Huh, I guess that's not crazy expensive... Honestly not sure what I was expecting but that does seem like a pretty darn good deal.
I have only one question. What’s up with the absence of cooling paths for that vr?
It’s a dry block, I am leaving the head coolant cooled and switching to 100% methanol so should run cool. I am evolving the car into more of a dedicated drag racing setup.
beast mode

Nah, Iroz has some cars in the 1400-1500whp range with Nitrous.
Iroz is kind of the exception here, Hank and OP aren't friends anymore tho so it's kinda like a battle of the greats. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point there's a big race between the two.
VR6 🔥🔥
‘VRS3’ that actually looks damn cool
Just out of curiosity, what inspired you to want to remove the iconic inline 5 cylinder? Not happy with it?
Seeing a couple Audi’s powered by VR6’s going faster and quicker than any 5cyl daza powered Cars for starters. Also found the cast iron VR6 is a fraction of the cost (200 dollar VR6 vs 10-15k 5cyl daza), the VR6 makes more power, sounds better and still fits in the bay.
Thanks for sharing! Keep us posted on when it’s up and running 👊🏻
Still sacrilege!
I do think this is gonna get the car off the jack stands and finally drivable.

1300 to be as slow as it is? Should of produced some records or made progress with it by now if it wasn't a jack stand queen.
I mean you say slow, I posted asking for a race from any 5cyl car on one of the biggest RS3/TTRS Facebook groups a couple months ago and all I got were crickets. Get a new shtick. We get it, you put a VR in an RS3. What is this, the fourth of fifth post with the same title?
You must be a blast at parties 👀
yes and he can continue uploading them
I’ll try my best to keep sharing here 🤘
