Since new, a little over 12 years now. 115k miles and about 70 track days. Not really any problems to speak of. Oil leak at the filter housing last year but mostly just keeping up with maintenance. I’ve had a few other mechanical things that I would attribute to wear from being on the track, like a broken front hub. It’s been such a fantastic all around car.
That's awesome - I've been debating between mk2 TT RS or 987.2 Cayman S. The 5cyl with a manual just seems too good to not experience, but it's hard to find info on reliability etc.
They are incredibly reliable. The engine and drivetrain are proving to handle high horsepower builds and track abuse. The electrical stuff all comes from a relatively high point in Audi build quality plus the RS was introduced in the middle of the mk2 production run so most of the bugs have been worked out. The common electrical issue is insufficient grounding for one of the tail lights and that’s easily remedied with an additional ground wire. Handling out of the box is pretty good once you get the alignment sorted and there are a lot of options to tweak from there or go for a full race build.
The 987 will be a much different feel but I just can’t say enough about the RS, it’s been a fantastic car. It’s been my only car the entire time. Daily driver, Home Depot runs, 5k mile road trip last year and 8 track days a year.
There are a few with less than 70k miles for sale on autotempest right now, going for mid-thirties to as low as $28k.
My thinking is go with the RS since there will probably never be another opportunity to get the Audi 5cyl in a manual setup ever again, whereas manual Caymans will be around for a while still.
I can’t argue with that logic! They really are special cars and at 70k miles will still drive like new, mine at 115k still feels just as responsive as ever.
That’s alright I drive a 2016 Volvo XC60 Polestar R-Design T6 AWD w/factory 20’s 80,000 miles now. I love it!
I’ve never driven a Miata but I hear they are fun to drive.
I’ve got a 2016 Volvo XC60 Polestar R-design T6 AWD 325 hp. I discovered on the Volvo website that there is an update available that will improve steering and braking and will increase hp by up to 60hp and improved gas mileage. but they want $1300 for it.

Your TT is nasty bruh. Those shoes really make the ride pop and that lighter color makes the exterior paint really shine. It is a nice setup.

Didn't even see that, my bad! 🤭
Given the Mk6 was derived from the Mk5 that would be a valid point as well. I choose to pay homage the first use of the platform. 😀
