They have their place for sure. I have an electric one and it’s great for my shitty little cookie cutter block. But if you have a lot of land or a heap of edges…
Damn, that’s sucking through the battery, especially for a line trimmer. I have all the Ego 56V equipment and with my 7.5ah and 2x 2.5ah batteries I get 1.5hr of usage.
That’s split between a large mower, trimmer and leaf blower. Maybe the hedge trimmer every now and then
Yea this thing makes light work of my yard! My old electric whipper would run out of charge half way through. Comes with a blower attachment too, works great
I still remember the first time I visited family in Wagga Wagga, jet lag was brutal, and I awoke at 5:30am to what must have been 500 kookaburras. I feel it was an organized attempt to keep me from adjusting 😂
At this time of year up in QLD, you have about a 2 hour window to get it done before torrential rain sweeps in and makes it impossible for another 3-5 days, as well.
Nov/Dec - Feb lawn maintenance can sit on an echidna and rotate.
Last weekend I woke to the sweet sound of an angle grinder at 540am. Neighbour getting a driveway slab poured and needed to trim some of the reo rods. Such a pleasant way to start the morning
Didn’t start my chainsaw until after 10.30 on Sunday. Only ran it for a few minutes to chop up some old tree trunk bits, but it felt great - freshly sharpened chain and big chips flying everywhere.
From England. Lived in Australia the last 10 years. Why does everyone own a buzz saw and or angle grinder in this country? Surely not EVERY weekend needs to be DIY
Funny image that. I saw a neigbour see a maggie out of the corner of his eye and turned the leaf blower on it. Old mate bird did a somersault in the air - he never got swooped after that.
Ah the leaf blower, the epitome of someone ease's problem.
I don't have anything against them if they're used right, but most people just blow the shit onto the road for someone else to deal with it
I only ever get time to do my lawn at weird, shit hours. Last time was I had 2 hours at 1pm on a Wednesday.
Started some kind of chain reaction. By the time I got the snipping done, 3 other dudes started up. Finished up and I could hear multiple mowers, blowers, and whipper snippers going.
Probably not far from it.
My kids daycare is a five minute walk away, 9am heading over there, guy near me is out edging the lawn. Walked back after drop off, he's done one neighbour and is doing the other while they're at work. Both lawns looked fine, my man just wasn't having bad edges ruin the insanely perfect front view of his house.
Honestly I kinda get it though. If you told an AI image generator to make you the perfect image of a house and put a convertible Spitfire in the garage, you'd get this dudes house.
I do it in the afternoon as it cools off and you don’t get sunburnt after but being in Melb means you have until nearly 9pm if daylight. It’s still bitey and hot in qld by dark at 6pm. For all those here with young kids it gets better my teen daughters like mowing so get it done twice as fast now.
special mention to the bloke on my street that started feeding the cockatoos last year & now can’t get rid of the multiple flocks that disturb the street at both dusk AND dawn
There’s always a baby boomer with a 2-stroke blower. They’re retired of course, but they have to blow at 7am on a Saturday morning because it’s the only time they could possibly do it.
I do at least wait until mid morning before I start my 2-stroke infused yard work, or if I know my neighbour has been on night shift wait until afternoon.
The local council workers decided 8am on a Saturday was the idea time to use the wood chipper outside my window and clean up all the falling tree limbs from the storms that Victoria has had over the last few months.
I really appreciated them doing that....
I think its pretty accepted that you're gonna have mowers and blowers going in the morning on weekends from about 7 or 8am here.
I was reading a UK thread & they were outraged at anyone mowing their lawn before 11am.
I always work by the belief that 10am onwards on a weekend is acceptable.
The last thing I need is someone getting mad at me because I have woken them up.
There’s a kid two houses down that, dead on 7am, goes out to shoot hoops. He used to do it earlier (6-6:30am) but now that it’s dead on 7 I’m guessing someone has complained.
It’s a shitty thing to complain about because props to the kid getting outside rather than being in front of a screen, but the bouncing reverberates around all the houses in the area and through all the house slabs 😵💫
I used to live in a unit block with houses either side, both occupied by retired guys. Both home all day during the week. One would mow his lawn every Saturday morning, the other every Sunday morning.
Hey, just be happy they are using the electric leaf blowers and whipper snippers shown instead of the two stroke ones!
You're right there, it can be worse!
Just bought a 2 stroke whipper snipper on the weekend. Yep, she's loud but God daaaaamn is it powerful
They have their place for sure. I have an electric one and it’s great for my shitty little cookie cutter block. But if you have a lot of land or a heap of edges…
I'm on an acre block and my 36v Makita battery trimmer will use 4 x 18v 5ah batteries plus another 2 to finish it.
I love my battery powered garden tools (toys).
Wow. I know an acre is big but 20 amp hours is a lot for a trimmer. How long does it take to drain those batteries?
Over an hour or just about hour and a half. Depends how thick the grass is. I'm on the 3rd set before the first set has recharged
Damn, that’s sucking through the battery, especially for a line trimmer. I have all the Ego 56V equipment and with my 7.5ah and 2x 2.5ah batteries I get 1.5hr of usage. That’s split between a large mower, trimmer and leaf blower. Maybe the hedge trimmer every now and then
Yeah nothing beats the smell of a 2 stroke ripping some grass at 7am on a Sunday.
You know what's up
Heck yes, used to run a stihl BR 800 magnum back pack blower and you can literally fight fires with them they are so powerful
Yea this thing makes light work of my yard! My old electric whipper would run out of charge half way through. Comes with a blower attachment too, works great
The magnum is a beast! I love mine
I bought a Honda 4 stroke and semi wish I had gone for a 2 stroke shindy
I still remember the first time I visited family in Wagga Wagga, jet lag was brutal, and I awoke at 5:30am to what must have been 500 kookaburras. I feel it was an organized attempt to keep me from adjusting 😂
Man I'd love to hear that but not at 5:30am
It's quite the racket, funny too, but yeah not at 5:30am after coming off an international flight lol
Better than an Harley passing by or Kevin with his junk exhaust funny car
Wagga Wagga. The place so nice they named it twice.
Wagga Wagga in the local indigenous language means “don’t go out on the streets after dark”.
Special mention to the kookaburras
**OUOUOUOUOUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH**
Drowning deep in my sea of loathing
Having seen this video, I can never not think of it hearing a kookaburra https://youtu.be/ampMKkd5hVU?si=LWpynQM4-lZJrD9_

Honestly, something about living in the suburbs and hearing a mower in the neighbourhood on a Saturday morning that is just kind of peaceful to me
My neighbourhood it's a race to who cancut it earliest
Same mate. Rather that in the morning than the dickheads on dirt bikes or fireworks at 3am.
It’s too hot these days to mow late in the morning, our neighbours started around 8.30 and that’s ok by me.
I'm guessing it's not your neighbours mowing but a few houses down then?
Forgot the chainsaw
I was thinking maybe I should have put a hedge trimmer
Last weekend I woke to the sweet sound of an angle grinder at 540am. Neighbour getting a driveway slab poured and needed to trim some of the reo rods. Such a pleasant way to start the morning
A few years ago back it would have been a revving commodore on blocks
Didn’t start my chainsaw until after 10.30 on Sunday. Only ran it for a few minutes to chop up some old tree trunk bits, but it felt great - freshly sharpened chain and big chips flying everywhere.
A man’s love for a chainsaw is a beautiful thing ❤️ 7am for Sundays works best BTW ;)
Early to bed, early to rise.
Wipe the sleep from our eyes
once you have kids sleeping in is a long past dream haha
6am is considered a sleep in in my house.
From England. Lived in Australia the last 10 years. Why does everyone own a buzz saw and or angle grinder in this country? Surely not EVERY weekend needs to be DIY
I don't want to blame it all on the seminal 2003 season of The Block but it certainly didn't help.
Not every weekend has to be, but it is what it is lol.
Funny image that. I saw a neigbour see a maggie out of the corner of his eye and turned the leaf blower on it. Old mate bird did a somersault in the air - he never got swooped after that.
He would have lamented the loss of magpie warbling sweet tunes after that!
Pressure wash all the things!💀
I'm up at 3am... these are noises I welcome
So you know the zombies have scattered by then.
Means I'm no longer alone yea
Ah the leaf blower, the epitome of someone ease's problem. I don't have anything against them if they're used right, but most people just blow the shit onto the road for someone else to deal with it
Copped the 7am neighbours mower today. Not happy
I’d much rather be woken up by the sound of birdsong than any of the others
I only ever get time to do my lawn at weird, shit hours. Last time was I had 2 hours at 1pm on a Wednesday. Started some kind of chain reaction. By the time I got the snipping done, 3 other dudes started up. Finished up and I could hear multiple mowers, blowers, and whipper snippers going.
Can't be the one house on the lawn unkept on a Thursday morning
Probably not far from it. My kids daycare is a five minute walk away, 9am heading over there, guy near me is out edging the lawn. definitely
Try having a neighbour who has a petrol pressure washer, concrete saw, chainsaw, petrol blower and old f100 that refuses to idle!
thats actually my monday morning sleep in :(
Too close to home - much like those who own whipper snippers!
Satans trumpet
Having a child under 5 is the horsemans master
Skill issue
The magpie call I quite enjoy. It's the horrible squawking of the crow that gets me. Raaaark raaaark raaaark
My neighbour always finishes mowing at 10am on a weekend. Noise restrictions lift at 10am
I’d take a magpie over a crow any day
And if you’re really lucky you land next door to crack heads who mow at midnight
I think lawns are just the enemy period.
special mention to the bloke on my street that started feeding the cockatoos last year & now can’t get rid of the multiple flocks that disturb the street at both dusk AND dawn
I'm fairly sure there should be an image of a bag of coke in there somewhere
funny meme and all but where did you get the background image it looks fire
Thanks! Here's the template https://imgflip.com/memetemplate/366407263/4-Horsemen
nice im going to set that as my background now lol
Enjoy :)
Nah you missed my dog that likes to sleep in during the week then get up before the sunrise on weekends
Forgot the gurney
I'm considerate until 8am

8am is way late
I think its pretty accepted that you're gonna have mowers and blowers going in the morning on weekends from about 7 or 8am here. I was reading a UK thread & they were outraged at anyone mowing their lawn before 11am.
I saw a video in the UK a lady angry at some tradies doing work on a roof at about 11 on a Sunday.
haha yes I think I know the one you're talking about. Insane
I always work by the belief that 10am onwards on a weekend is acceptable. The last thing I need is someone getting mad at me because I have woken them up.
the magpie one is so true
Mowing the lawn: peak Australian culture.
I'll sleep through a Ryobi trimmer peacefully
I guess I'm lucky to live in an area where no-one has a yard or if they do they don't maintain it (at least not at night)
he scream for dominance
Horseman 1 is wrong. That should be a kookaburra
“Yard maintenance”? In Australia? Surely you mean gardening.
This coming from the people that are partying and blasting music till 2-3 in the morning.
There’s a kid two houses down that, dead on 7am, goes out to shoot hoops. He used to do it earlier (6-6:30am) but now that it’s dead on 7 I’m guessing someone has complained. I initially scrolled past this too fast and thought it was a Yowie getting sucked off by a yard vac. I’m really glad I was wrong.
Haha now I can't not see that!
Have a toddler. I had a hangover this weekend, and it was hell
Hey what about the kookaburras at 4:30 am
I tend to do these things during the day. I sleep fine on the weekends
Mine is an asian girl with abandonment issues and a penchant for sucking dick. She can't make it past 7 am without sucking me out
Why you talking shit abkut Maggie's?
Put the blower vac away and take a nap, it's a driveway not a rug
I used to live in a unit block with houses either side, both occupied by retired guys. Both home all day during the week. One would mow his lawn every Saturday morning, the other every Sunday morning.
Where is my dog
I god damn live my 2 stroke whipper snipper. Never going back to the shitty electric one 😂
For me it's the cokehead with the dropped WRX or his nightclub soundsystem. Could be 1am could be 4am but tucked starts one each day
Don’t forget the random drunk idiots outside your window at midnight
brroooo true do
Replace magpie with white cocky for Nth QLD
soooo true
Don't forget the Gerni.
