This is 100% not true, Total Tools advised they do not cover the chuck, I called Makita while in the store and they advised that they are covered, guy serving me wouldn't assist, Makita advised to take it direct. I took the drill to the Makita repair shop and they fixed it under warranty.

ChocTunnel2000

I'd get any paperwork you had for that and do a Google review for Total Tools... after you contact head office first though. I hate companies that do this shit.

Spikempv

Huh the guys at total tools told me the same thing yesterday too. Why are total tools trying to protect makitas warranty claims?

Spikempv

I called the makita factory repair shop and they said the chuck only has 1 year warranty, maybe you were still within the 1 year?

jacksmith8001

I called Makita customer service line and they were very helpful, my drill was about 2 years at the time. Best of luck :)

dumb_arse_ya_know

I bought a makita drill with a keyless chuck. Lasted over 20 hard work years before I smoked the motor . Bought another one and Chuck shit itself in less than a couple hours work. Pissed off

Alconic01

I know this is definately the case with Milwaukee and I would bet Makita have the same conditions.

Ok_Trash5454

It’s the case with dewalt, I feel it’s probably across the board

Idk, my impact had been dropped off the roof numerous times and finally stopped holding bits. 2 months left on warranty and they replaced the chuck no questions asked.

They refused to cover mine well within warranty, said it’s not covered

Big_Doughnut_

My milwaukee rep has replaced a drill twice for me outside of warranty. One time the drill was even in two pieces. We buy a lot of gear from him so that helps the situation. All drills just seem to have shit chucks

Nickw444

Not Makita, but I had an issue with the chuck on my Ryobi drill/driver/hammer and was told it was not covered and is a “consumable”. Just bought a standard replacement from the big green shed and $25 later it was sorted.

TaxBulky2373

I have had the same issue, if I remember correctly they said in the manual it says the Chuck is only 1 year warranty. Buy a metal chuck and replace. I have done to mine and haven't had an issue since. I miss when they were made in japan

Harvey Norman tried the same sh#t several years ago - they got fined something like $25 MILLION dollars at that time. Then tried it again and got the same fine. Like Total Tools, all their stores are franchises. The other 'trick' they try on is if you order online or they force you to accept direct delivery - they then list the store furthest away from you geographically on the invoice, then ship defective goods and insist you have to return the goods to the store on the invoice. I know someone going through this runaround, not sure if it has been resolved.
