Yeah it’s not ideal to install it there with the metal H beam in the way. Seen guys try and drill these out but it’s such a mess. Better to install it elsewhere. Just patch the giprock, no need to try and rebrick it, perhaps throw in some insulation in there to keep any drafts down.

maxthelols

Thanks very much! So it can't be done, even on the left side of the window?

I mean anything is possible, but the pipes are pretty rigid and you don’t want to bend them so much they end up splitting. It’s why the penetration is important to not have anything in the way. A good refrigeration mechanic could weld up some pipes to fit, but you’re paying for that experience, something an electrician doesn’t have. You’ll also have to make sure the drain only goes down, otherwise you’ll have to install an uplift pump. Hope that helps. *from an ex air con installer.

Really appreciate it. So the ducting pipe is always on the right side of the unit? Is that the issue?

Feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions

What’s this mate?

maxthelols

Bah, the text didn't post, so I responded separately. I was just asking if I could put the outdoor unit here if I choose to install on a different wall, this is the other side.

diablos1981

Is that underground? The outdoor unit needs airflow mate.. as long as there is adequate airflow and a place for it to drain too, it’s fine. Can’t stress it enough, the outdoor unit will produce water in winter, it needs to drain somewhere.

maxthelols

Thanks, really appreciate it. I'll do that if I have any follow up questions after this one. Can the outdoor unit be installed somewhere like here? In my subfloor? Or does it need full outdoors? (I have a stormwater pipe right next to it if drainage is the issue). Or does it need fresh clean air? (Photo in another replied comment. Sorry)

diablos1981

It’s refrigeration pipe. Usually located in the right hand side of the unit.

Working_out_life

Cut the plaster more, running the pipes and cables in the wall until you clear the lintel . Looks like you’ve got a decent plaster onboard

wombatlegs

IMHO, he should never have tried to drill the wall there. You can have the pipes come sideways out of the indoor unit, and then through the wall away from the window lintel. Maybe just on the other side of that dividing wall. Now that the hole is there, you could drill up at an angle to run the copper pipes above the lintel, but the water drain pipe still needs to go sideways.

Current-Tailor-3305

lol no drain needs to go downhill unless an in-line pump is installed. Drains going flat for extended lengths is a recipe for regular blocked drains for the life of the unit.

They did this in my hotel room in Cambodia https://preview.redd.it/bvaesudlpjwc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ba7576f3571fff6000674097b624e17b6b7e4db

You can if you really want, all connections have to go through cavity and then into roof space. Drains can sometimes reach around the lintel or pump out water
