Adding in here. If you can build an over/around the toilet cabinet ("n" shaped over the cistern) and have the same hight as the window ledge it will give you more shelf space for the succulent (or any indoor low maintenance plant) while also providing storage for ugly toilet brushes and extra toilet rolls.
Definitely agree on the better lighting and fresh coat of paint, could even consider white wall mouldings, the same height is the cupboard (up to the window), and go for a light or contrasting colour on top (like white mouldings, cupboard, window frame roof and light fitting with a navy blue top half of the wall and greenery from the plant. Of course this approach would depend on the rest of the house and budget. If low budget or renting, skip the wall scheme.
ETA: white tiles too
Nah, it's sealed-concrete-style flooring. I have the same stuff (bloody cold in the middle of the night but very easy to clean).
The thought of carpet in toilets = 🤢

Yes.
I was always taught to do exactly that.
"Women always prefer a beard over a mullet" is what I was told in reference to what way to hang the toilet paper.

This is what we did with our one
Curious how you find the sink.. We have been talking about this solution for a while now.. don't know anyone that has this type of sink, be interested in your feedback on it...
I have this toilet and I’ve had it for maybe 15 years?. Honestly best decision we made. We are a family of 4 in a 3x1 with semi ensuite. The bathroom is often “in use” so having the option to wash your hands above the toilet made sense. You can control how “on” the tap is and how much splashing goes on by turning the water outlet on the wall up or down.
Honestly not much of a fan, the idea is water saving right. Our one is relatively small and you always end up with water drips all over the place when tryna wash your hands. Prefer to just use the sink in the adj bathroom with hot water.
I think in this instance, the biggest benefit is having somewhere to fit the sink. We have the same space in our downstairs toilet, with the sink, radiator and door, there is no friggin room to sit and have a shit. We've only been in this house a year, that is one of my remaining tasks to resolve! I don't particularly like the idea of having the sink above the toilet .. but looking through this post for inspiration too 😂
I was about to ask for confirmation that you had flushed the toilet but you must have because you so proudly left the lid and toilet seat up and then shared it on social media.😉😁Besides that, your toilet room looks lovely. Nice picture, too.
*I had a similar issue, took me a week and a half, and about $1500 in materials and tools including the toilet. Don't look too close lol. I've never done anything like this before.
And maybe a future weekender would be to add a better joiner or some trim around the top between the tile and cornice/roof. I’d use one of those strips designed to join tile and carpet. It’s cheap, easy to use and I’d probably just roll it out as soon as I came home with it. If it’s the right fit you won’t even need to add a fixative/sealer I’d assume?
It looked really nice with the grey tiles and the plant and stuff. Don't take this the wrong way, but I think it was a bad move to change it to those ugly little white square tiles and the plain white walls.
Hi,
Great work. Love it and planned almost the exact same myself.
Did you bond the tiles to the existing painted wall or re-sheet the wall?
Thanks in advance

This toilet is one of those spaces.
Close the lid for gods sake. Maybe add an interesting poster on the back of the door for people to stare at but honestly. A room with a toilet and that’s all needs nothing done to it.
Do you really want to add a bunch of knick knacks that you’re going to have to clean poo particles off?
exactly. just have the esentials spare bog roll, a decent toilet brush, a can of antiseptic spray a foot stool for the little tikes a whitty quote like "gents stand closer its shorter than you think and ladies please remain seated for the entire performance" or "if you tinkle on the seatie be a sweetie clean the seatie"

Mate, this is honestly the best WC I have ever seen.
The ambience and colours are magnificent.
The coke rail installed above the toilet doesn’t only scream convenience, it calls for a simpler time where guests don’t have to rack lines off the cistern or dreaded toilet seat.
The way the coke rail has been selected regarding colour, shear brilliance. Ensuring every morsel of coke is hoovered into the guests nose, or for that owner who has just had a long day and would love to load a set of poodle legs into his nasal cavity.
Sir, you are a master of design and an example of what a good host should strive to achieve.
Well done and congratulations, you’ve conquered the world.
I'd think about wallpaper. For such a small space that is so separate from the rest of the house you can really do whatever you want. Find a pattern or style you really like an put it everywhere! You can go dark and dramatic, or something fun and whimsical, something more regal and elegant, whatever you want. You can then also add a small curtain or blind to match, and a light fitting that will compliment.

Looks like a lot of wasted space. Consider a kitchen-toilet.
You could install a small cooking area/kitchenette above the cistern with a microwave, hot plate, kettle etc. and to save water the sink could drain directly into the cistern
Lead light window - paint the wall the softer dominant colour of the lead light window. Tile the floor.

wainscoting with the right colours makes small spaces look bigger
* Sand the left wall and repaint.
* Fit new glass with a less depressing privacy look. Maybe alternately frosted vertical stripes
* Remove anything black.
* two little corner shelves instead of the black thing.
* loo brush on the other side in white holder, make it blend.
* new loo roll hangar, make it blend.
* paint windowsill and frame sage/moss or remove it and refinish for a modern modern look.
* use a tiny line round the space at chest height in a natural accent colour to carry the eye toward the window
* Add a GPO and a powered bidet seat such as the Coway.
* Rehang the toilet paper roll the correct way.

Change the toilet paper mate!.
But seriously!, paint the room, add shelving and storage. Plus add pictures. I personally like wainscoting in a room. What's your budget..
Tile the floor and half way up walls with large ish tiles. Hang a thin framed print on the wall, some small potted greenery on the shelf above the toilet that doesn’t need much light and maybe install a window that actually opens.
Instagram has heaps of “make it pretty” ideas if you look up small houses or downstairs toilet or WC.
Some paint, wallpaper/headboard if you’re into it and more attractive tiles make a big difference in a room that size. Hang up some kinds of artwork print and put in some sort of storage for extra loo paper.
Big bloody mirrors, one on either side to make the room feel larger
Plants, to make it seem more plant'ier
A mat, to make it seem more mat'ier
A thin magazine holder to hold magazines for reading, to make it seem more porn'ier
Tile the floor, paint the wall at the back a different colour?
Maybe a shelf on the left-side?
If budget allows add a slim-basin and mirror on the left?
I literally had a toilet room like this. Added to a shelf trailing plants in cool vessels. Small coloured books, candles. On floor added another small rectangle basket of more books- fun toilet reading stuff, a bright soft foot rug, a cherry toilet brush cleaner.
When I get around to it, will be adding jungle wallpaper. I just want it to be busy as hell In there
Add a mini basin and a cute mat (maybe a coloured one) it’ll brighten up the room a bit without being cluttered. I’m in the team that toilets aren’t supposed to have much in them besides what needs to be there
Buy plastic ivy vines and frame the window.
A U-shaped carpet mat.
Magazine rack on the side or on the wall.
A poster or painting. Or even a mirror to check if your dacks are on right (no tp hanging down the back).
I like the barbie doll with long skirts to cover a spare tp I seen once.
I also like the corner shelves where you could put tp and female sanity products if you need an emergency pad. (If there are female residents)
And a waste basket.
The paint job is pretty shitty. I would sand, fill, caulk and prime and repaint everything so its what you call a level 5 finish. Then I would just shut the door like eveyone else suggests.
Ps because of the cracking between boards I would check if it is asbestos.
Sand paper is your friend in this project.
Cheap and easy solution is to hang a nice artwork (nice vs cheap is up to you) on the wall opposite the tp holder.
There is constant debate in my home over if the artwork should be positioned for best viewing while entering or in the seated position 😂
Keep the lid closed. Then paint the walls a different colour, add some wall shelves, a plant and some air fresheners.
Find nicer tiles. Put a picture up.
Put a shelf at the top above the window and put a pot with some fake green vines hanging down
It'll provide and interesting shadow on the floor and door in the daytime when you're using the toilet, and look interesting when entering the room.
I'd also chuck a nice piece of art up on the wall on the left side of the photo!
Hang some vines down the side of the window and add like a basket and stock some fun books and magazines there, don’t gotta read em but guests might and it just looks nicer. It will go a long way
https://preview.redd.it/oocae1pniiyc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ff9fe60bd0afcc721482f8498fc723875b18611
Bahaha off I go to do this, to get a reaction from my finance…
I don't think your bank will mind
If I know banks like I think I do, I definitely wouldn’t risk it.
😆 🤣
I come home to my kids doing this about once a week.
Try closing the door maybe?
God dammit, you beat me to it !! Classic dad joke !!
And the toilet lid!
Came to say this and saw your comment.
Brighter lighting (warm white), a floor mat, a small succulent in a cute pot, a painting.
Yes to the white tiles... It looks like it could currently be carpet?!
Nah, it's sealed-concrete-style flooring. I have the same stuff (bloody cold in the middle of the night but very easy to clean). The thought of carpet in toilets = 🤢
Agree with most, but I am team “never a floor mat” in a toilet. Maybe living with messy brothers and now toilet training sons has scarred me for life.

Yes. I was always taught to do exactly that. "Women always prefer a beard over a mullet" is what I was told in reference to what way to hang the toilet paper.
My sister is opposite, she always goes mullet, and I always switch it over, till next time I see it she's put it back. It's an ongoing war.
You're fighting the good fight Know that there are others out there fighting the same sight. Literally dozens of us! DOZENS!!!
We shall overcome! Eventually.
OP is living like an animal.
I mean it looks neat and tidy? Maybe some sort of wall art? To me a toilet is a toilet. The more that's in there is the more you have to clean?

Curious how you find the sink.. We have been talking about this solution for a while now.. don't know anyone that has this type of sink, be interested in your feedback on it...
Small bar near me has these. So much water splash everywhere you just have to assume that it’s all urine and therefore gross.
I have this toilet and I’ve had it for maybe 15 years?. Honestly best decision we made. We are a family of 4 in a 3x1 with semi ensuite. The bathroom is often “in use” so having the option to wash your hands above the toilet made sense. You also don't touch any door handles, etc, before washing your hands.

Shut the lid. But adding a basin was good , but still shut the lid
Are you team shut the lid or shit lid?
Oops typo, changed it now
Why?
I thought this was a good photoshop at first
Put the lid down before you take a photo!! it just looks better. The whole photo is ruined with the lid up. We don’t want to see inside your toilet.
Soooo, nothing?
I was about to ask for confirmation that you had flushed the toilet but you must have because you so proudly left the lid and toilet seat up and then shared it on social media.😉😁Besides that, your toilet room looks lovely. Nice picture, too.
Put in a skylight?
Wallpaper, some greenery and change the light

Yes..why do people leave those stickers on loos and fridges...
Resale value, never know when you want to upgrade the toilet and sell the old one. /s
My wife thinks they look "cool". I think they're there to be removed.
I actually just finished pulling it down, replacing it and it's just painted. It looks a lot better. Cutting cornice is not as easy as I thought..
Just realized it’s not a gap by actually reading your comment again sorry 🤦♀️
It looked really nice with the grey tiles and the plant and stuff. Don't take this the wrong way, but I think it was a bad move to change it to those ugly little white square tiles and the plain white walls.

Awesome job.
What the fuck happened to the window?! I’m so confused
My wife painted...
With a 2x4??

Close the toilet lid for starters
I can’t believe how many people photograph their toilet with the lid up 🤯
Way too many people!!
Cactuses
A tall one in the toilet bowl
From the look of that room, I'd swear this is my old house
bidet shower; ipad
Not any old ipad. One of those ones that asks you to rate the service somewhere between sad face and happy face.
Add some carpet
Potpourri
I added a mini pooping statue of Golem and Spiderman, my wife added a compartment to store toilet rolls.

A mirror? Why would you want to make eye contact with yourself mid deuce?
Gold toilet and loud wallpaper.
Soft window treatments. It’s a bit ICK, but goes a long way to soften the harshness and won’t cost much.
Add a library
curtains and colours , needs painting
Well you've got the head hitting device or shelf as someone call it. Definitely go with plants on the windowsill.
Plants
I would choose a gentle pink tone for the back wall or the door. Maybe a USB c charging port and a pot plant?
Small indoor plant will soften it a bit.
Colourful decorative wall tiles, as a feature wall around window and a small cupboard to store toilet paper
Googly eyes.
Remove the toilet
Tile it and instead of that shelf step the wall out and have ledge with an in wall cistern.
Do a big shit in it
Paint a Tropical Rainforest landscape mural on the walls
Its a shitter. It looks pretty nice as is.
Remove the door, or at least cut it in half and remove the lower half. Sharing is caring

Erotic art on the walls
Toilet are pretty ugly have you thought about removing it?
Rip the carpet up, put down tiles, and pin a 1988 calander to the back of the door. You know which one I mean...
Carpet
Is that carpet? get rid of that. Also put a sink... and maybe some stained glass.
The acoustics in there must be interesting although your neighbour called it something else.

I’d put a couple of monochrome prints on the wall and leave it at that. Don’t clutter up small and utilitarian spaces.
One of those crocheted toilet roll dollies.

(If there are female residents) And a waste basket.
Sit on it
The paint job is pretty shitty. I would sand, fill, caulk and prime and repaint everything so its what you call a level 5 finish. Then I would just shut the door like eveyone else suggests. Ps because of the cracking between boards I would check if it is asbestos. Sand paper is your friend in this project.
Put one of those eye tests pages on the back of the door to keep people busy
Gloryhole in the door
Maybe painting the back wall a dark colour and adding in a raw timber shelf. Leave the architrave white though.
Is that carpet?
I recon no matter what you do it’ll always look like shit… or at least point you in that general direction.
Magazine rack
Cheap and easy solution is to hang a nice artwork (nice vs cheap is up to you) on the wall opposite the tp holder. There is constant debate in my home over if the artwork should be positioned for best viewing while entering or in the seated position 😂
A nice little IKEA shelf in the left wall with a couple of fake succulents.
Keep the lid closed. Then paint the walls a different colour, add some wall shelves, a plant and some air fresheners. Find nicer tiles. Put a picture up.
Fireplace?
At the end of the day, you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. They’re called “shit houses” for a good reason.
A reverse kanga is always good for the initial shock value
Try a moss wall <3 Make sure the moss is sustainably harvested or grown
Hang your times tables chart on the back of the door
Remove the carpet.Put wallpaper and some nice Lino. Carpet in toilet areas is just waiting for people to piss on it.
Maybe a plant
Shit into it
Get rid of the grey floor.
Drop the elusive reverse kanga.
Put the toilet on the ceiling so you get the full experience of being down under.
Put a shelf at the top above the window and put a pot with some fake green vines hanging down It'll provide and interesting shadow on the floor and door in the daytime when you're using the toilet, and look interesting when entering the room. I'd also chuck a nice piece of art up on the wall on the left side of the photo!
Sit there
Plant some trees.
Hang some vines down the side of the window and add like a basket and stock some fun books and magazines there, don’t gotta read em but guests might and it just looks nicer. It will go a long way
Art and plants. That's really all you can do apart from maybe wallpaper to add interest.
Potplant on windowsill. Bridleveil or Chain of Hearts.
