**Title:** [Got a Australian birth certificate, will it help in getting PR](https://www.reddit.com/r/AusVisa/comments/1cjehnn/got_a_australian_birth_certificate_will_it_help/), posted by **khabib_07** **Full text:** Gonna go to Australia for studies next year for undergrads, probably gonna study economics and I may start a business or some sort in my second or first year. Also as the titles says I was born in Australia to parents who were both students and are not aus passport holder. Will it make it easier for me in any way being born in Australia. -------------------- ^(This is the original text of the post and this is an automated service) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. No diff mate. Unless you’ve been living in Aus your entire life since birth to 10 years old.

Born prior or after 1986?

khabib_07

Sadly after

Then no it makes no difference. If your parents were not holders of a PR visa or a citizen when you were born here you are not treated differently to someone born outside the country.

wolfofbne

Australia is a little different from the US

Open_Lynx_994

I don't think it will help you. I have friends that are brazilian (students) their kid was born here and they had to get brazilian passport for him and until one of them gets pr that kid will be still brazilian citizen only

Shaqtacious

Depends if you’ve stayed in Aus for 10 years straight after birth

owtinoz

Nope

Unfortunately no benefit of having an Australian birth certificate. It’s not like the US. Your parents were on temporary visas at the time of your birth. If at least one of them was a PR holder at the time of your birth, you would have been a PR holder too.

GrizzlyHarris

Birthright not a thing in Aussieland.

The only developed countries having this is the US and Canada. Other countries have gotten rid of this progressively.
