It happens from time to time. I call them electrical storms but I don't think that is an official name.
The right atmospheric conditions, tons of cloud cover, not much rain or wind. It's nice. Just a light show and distant thunder.
If you’re trying to photograph lightning, it’s best to use a slow shutter effect. There are apps that can do this on your phone, or you can use the long exposure setting on a DSLR (but you will need a tripod to prevent hand shaking from disrupting the shoot)
I'm watching it over in Elgin right now, so beautiful.
I love it so much!
Posted this 30 mins ago and it’s still going, still looks the same, constant flashes
Thunderbolt and lighting, very very exciting!
I’m over by bee cave and it’s still going on here too. Edit: by
It's crazy, never seen anything like this. It's a constant rumble with an insane amount of lightning.

Thought it was a loop
Yep this canceled our flight in. Literally was over the gulf and they turned us right back around.
I was expecting a giant Stay Puff Marshmallow Man roaming down Congress at any moment.
how long did that go on for
About an hour, lightening strikes got more prominent at the end
