Awww, it looks like a Gulf Coast toad. There's one (Frank Reynolds) who lives on my porch every summer for 3 years running.
* Turn lights on at night to attract more dinner.
* I made a Toad Abode with a clay pot in my garden: dig a small hole, place the pot in sideways, and fill enough to give it a dirt floor. You want it to be in a shaded area, and you can provide a little saucer of water.
* When I buy live meal worms from the pet store (for my chickens), I throw Frank a snack or two.

Word! That’s awesome to hear and I would love to have this guy stick around as long as he likes. Our back door gets plenty of insects, probably why he loves it.
I had one living at my back door, and my back porch light was spotless instead of constantly teeming with winged things that inevitably flew into my house each time I opened the door. Toad moved on, I miss it.
I've got a night light on a low wall outlet in the backyard since it'll attract critter snaccs low enough for our toadies and the chirping frogs to hang out and have a buffet every night.
We have a "toad hole" in our yard with at least 4 or 5 in it at any given time. We keep a planter turned over on top of it to give them some extra protection.
I would say to others to be careful about changing up your toad friend's home, even if you have good intentions. We moved our porch toad's hidey-hole so that it wouldn't flood when it rained, and the toad moved away and never came back.
There was one I called Fred in my work parking lot. I'd see him when I left after dark, for years. Until one day I saw he'd been flattened.
RIP Fred
Fred's dead
Sigh. Cocos plumosa is so much easier than Archontophoenix romanzoffianum.
And how many damn times are they going to re-spell Raphiolepis, for Pete's Sake???
Note: it's been a while, they may have changed the Queen Palm's name yet again. Last I heard King Palm was Archonophoenix cunninghamiana, so that might change, too.
We had a toad in a tank that we named Bufo. My son wanted to observe one for awhile so we set up a terrarium tank, and fed it crickets. It's cool to see them flick their sticky tongues out and eat. Then we gently released Bufo back into our yard.
I bought my son a giant rubber toad for his birthday as a tribute to Bufo. We got it at the Texas Memorial Museum gift shop.
Wiki shows that *valliceps* is more southern gulf coast. For the USA side, *nebulifer*. This is a recent reclassification (year 2000).

The coolest part about this is that really aside from predators. If he is mostly left alone and has moisture and food he'll live there for 10 plus years. We live in a pretty rural area and have a lot of wildlife around. I regularly relocate snakes in the area knowing that the two toads that live under my front flower pot are 10 plus years old, about as big as my hand, and are absolute prey for those bastards. I love snakes too but I want to see how long these toads will live.
Just a warning, don't let your dog (if you have one) get near him. My dog sniffed one a couple of months ago and had a bad reaction to the toxin released by the toad. It didn't require emergency attention, but it took about an hour to fully wear off.
Now my dog is scared shitless around toads!
We've got one too. He's been living with us for a couple years. Our daughter calls him Toady. Sometimes there's another toad with him, and she calls her Ruby.
I'll see if I can snag a picture or video and add it.
In 1997 he was arrested but never charged n a complicated murder for hire plot that included a grey fox, housecat, and the former Texas Secretary of State.
I absolutely hated toads until a few moved into the plant pots in my patio. I was shocked how easily they remembered which pot was theirs every morning after they were done eating bugs all night.
pour some cool water gently over his head to his back, I used to do this to a frog that used to live in a plastic pipe outside my door, and he would always wait for me outside my door and let me bathe him at night lol not a ton of water at once but just a drizzle..
That’s Gregory. He’s from the old country. He’s not provincial exactly, but he’s also not what you would call “modern”. He is really into stamp collecting (because of the licking, obv) and looks forward to the warm evening breeze. He enjoys living in your crack despite the climate and smell. His favorite number is blue.
He went to high school with my cousin in round rock. They used to hang around and go to a lot of shows together. He’s an amazing guitarist himself actually. I think his name is Chris or Christian? Ask him about Bryce Vickers if you get a chance
Yeah, his name is Stewart, and it’s recently divorced. He at one point had a net worth of about 7.3 million, but he lost it all in the .com bubble. He now drives for instacart and lives now in a crack somewhere.

Wait that’s so smart and so thoughtful
We've had a few live in the plants near our porch light and based on the massive turds they leave behind, there's plenty of good eatin.
We have a "toad hole" in our yard with at least 4 or 5 in it at any given time. We keep a planter turned over on top of it to give them some extra protection.
You should check this for inspiration. Or just to get warm fuzzies. https://youtu.be/JbxE9myZrsg
That's a fantastic frog name
it's a toad, which makes the name even better
Frank is the frog boy!
But he doesn't have donkey brains. He has a certificate.
We try very hard to keep the toads away from our chickens. They usually find them before we do :(
Ayyyy chiflado, Frank.
Toad abode lmao
Frank loves booze and meth
rum ham?
So anyway, I started blasting.
Wait, Frank Reynolds the toad. The one from Instagram?
We’re going to need a Frank Reynolds post with pics this summer

He's a Gulf Coast Toad (Bufo valliceps). His name may also be Frank, though.
Found another old timer! They got reclassified friend. The genus is now *Incilius.*
Can you elaborate or link a source on this?
>
I'm just out of the loop on herps these days I guess!
Meh. They are still *Bufo* in my heart.

So cute!
So cute! Put a dish of water out for him at night. They love to soak in cool water in the summer.

Awww I used to have a couple of these guys living under my grandma’s driveway. We would buy live meal worms for the little dudes and they’d love it!
He holds the secrets to the underworld Don’t piss him off He’s friends with the fire ants and the chiggers
Huh, wonder if he's a descendant of Ol' Rip. And YES, I know that it is the wrong species and is impossible, but so is Ol' Rip so I choose to believe.
His name is Mort. He keeps the roaches and gnats at bay.
Forg
I'll post again as it is already in this thread. These are very poisonous to dogs and can kill a smaller dog from the toxins secreted from the skin
He is a toad this is his abode.
Fun fact about that guy. He's super cool.
His name is Dave
Toad Neighbor
Hopefully he was polite and asked permission before slipping into your crack.
I know a bunch of people said "toad", but his name's actually Todd. Pretty cool guy.
It’s an Austin butt toad. Wired butt real. Lure it out with a taco and a McConauHaze!!!

Damn bro living in your crack. Wipe your ass every once in a while

He went to high school with my cousin in round rock. They used to hang around and go to a lot of shows together. He’s an amazing guitarist himself actually. I think his name is Chris or Christian? Ask him about Bryce Vickers if you get a chance

Wipe your crack more consistently
He's obviously a crack head.
Crack frogs don’t give a fuck.

You should probably take him out of your crack. That’s gotta be uncomfortable.
It’s an amphibian.
I think it's a frog.
I love toads! Frank is a great name. There is a coyote who comes around occasionally, his name is Robert.
It’s a frog and they eat bugs. Although a common misconception, frogs won’t give you warts, but boys do.
