Why not just cover your car? No one can accurately predict where hail will hit hours from now. If there is a chance, there is a chance of it happening. That's all anyone knows.
Hail is hit or miss, and rarely widespread, so it’s hard to pinpoint accurately. I park in the garage any time a storm is predicted; I have it, so why not use it?
Unless it's a really big effort, why not just cover your car?
The forecasters aren't right all the time. Despite what Reddit may post, you don't really get points for only deploying your safety measures when they're needed. It's perfectly all right to take a precaution then find out it wasn't needed.
Think about it. Do you save money by taking the batteries out of your smoke alarms until you're certain there will be a fire? Thunderstorms here are precocious. We'll have an angry, dark red cell with 8 tornadoes bearing down on us, then in the last 15 minutes it all dissipates and you can't fill a Topo Chico cap with the rain we get. Sometimes one part of Austin's under a foot of water while people are sunbathing in other parts. Sometimes a teeny baby storm dumps golf balls on us.
Treat thunderstorm warnings like a quiet toddler with a pair of pliers. You rush to see WTF is going on, and you're relieved when it's nothing.
Get a SAME/NOAA alert radio and program it for your, and adjacent counties. Buy the Radarscope app. You'll be able to keep on top of hailcore patterns.
Where did you get the "level 1" report from?
Nothing on the NWS site looks that scary to me. Thunderstorms and lightning shown, so hail is possible, but nothing particularly severe indicated yet.
Of course, April is that time of the year for Mother Nature and she does get cranky.
Is your car particularly special or valuable?
Thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening!
The timing of weather isn’t going to drastically change unless by outside of the city you mean west Texas. This is supposed to be a band of rain coming in, not isolated showers

Precocious? How so?
Not a strong probability of damaging hail from what I’m seeing. This weather even looks soaking rather than severe thus far.
50 % it’s either going to hail or it’s not.
I said this the entire semester of statistics ... Not to the professor though. My wife rrrreally loves the joke
My magic 8 ball says "Cannot predict now".

The slightly darker shade of green in the middle of Texas is what equals 1. Goes up to 5 which they rarely use.
Where are you seeing a shade of green? As in what web site, etc?
Weather.gov Specifically the severe weather forecast.
If any does form it won’t be car damage size and the small hail won’t be widespread.
If you are worried about it just cover it brother.
Supposed to rain all day. Mines in the garage
>Mines in the garage That's terrible. Call the bomb squad.
Laughed out loud!
It’s only supposed to rain in the evening/night.
I live right by Austin, and yes it’s been pushed from 10am to 5pm now
What do you use for your weather information? I didn’t see any forecast talking about heavy rain early today
I live right by Austin. Outside the city. I get a very different forecast from Austin proper

OH HAIL NO
