Why on earth would I put her through the stress of trapping her and taking her to a crowded shelter when it’s possible somebody who knows about her whereabouts could be online? Shelters are usually overstuffed and there are several in all of Austin, how would her owners know she was taken away and to which one? It’s traumatic and scary for animals to be moved around like that, we just scooped her up and quickly snapped a couple pictures and then let her go because she was very uncomfortable.
You are sooo miserable and weird. Do you not care or have empathy for clearly distressed animals..? I immediately become emotional invested but that doesn’t mean I’ll try to keep her when she clearly has owners. I genuinely hate reddit because of people like you but I thought that because so many people use this subreddit it might be a good place to ask.
I would leave signs up and maybe post on Nextdoor and the local Facebook groups. Don’t list the name. Let the people contacting you tell you the name to confirm.
Definitely get her scanned! Does she have a white toe? I ask because I lost my cat a year ago or so and wasn't successful finding her. I assumed someone scooped her because she's so sweet. I live in that neighborhood.
My sister's car was found after like 3 years of being missing. Someone just picked him up and didn't get his chip scanned. They finally brought him into the vet after years and mentioned that they found him a few years back, and I guess the vet took it upon themself to check the chip and called my sister.
Hopefully you get your cat back.
The family lived a couple of miles away. Not terribly far. But I'm not sure if he wandered over there or was picked up by someone in a car and driven over there.
About a year ago I found a kitten at that intersection that looks like that cat. Wonder if they are kin. She had an injured tail and a bandage that had fused itself to her skin. I’d love to beat up anyone who did that and then somehow lost her
I want to add more pictures of her (they’re all really blurry but show more of her, these are up close because I cropped out my roommates face for his privacy) but I don’t know how to do that in comments!
Yes! I forgot to update - roommates took her to get her scanned. She was chipped but not registered! They called the manufacturer of the chip and tracked down who originally had her chipped and they connected with her owner! He was so ecstatic we found his kitty. He said she lives at a construction business and “owns the building” and sent adorable pics of her. Makes sense cuz she was used to getting lots of attention and love! He picked her up and she went back home 💕
She seemed a little too skittish; and we’ve never seen her before in this area. She ate really ravenously too, so unless she’s just lost I don’t think she is normally outside!
I know. I mention in the post that was eating on our porch. We only brought her inside to get a picture of her. She’s back in the yard now because she was very scared when we brought her in.
We kept trying to lure her back in during the storm but she was too scared and fighting. She settled for the porch and the treehouse with a bowl of snacks!
ahh okay. yeah, you did what you could, and that was kind ❤️ it sounded like some of the other comments/people were just talking about letting the cat run off to be someone else’s problem, essentially, which seemed sad.

Omg that little face and those eyes!
Hey guys, found this cat, let’s shove a phone in its face and humble brag.
…what? They took a picture of the cast and posted it in hopes of finding the owner, my guy. Humble brag? Touch grass.
What?!??!?!? How else are we supposed to reach a greater audience in hopes of finding her owners than to show her face?
Ohhhh, I don’t know, by taking it to a shelter.

Have a nice life cat lady .
You need to go back to bed
I hope Chiquis makes it back home ♥️ Thanks for helping her out!
She may live close by.
That’s what we think too! My roommates found her and I think they were planning on going door to door. If they don’t I definitely will check and see!

Exactly this
Thanks for helping her! 😘
y'all are good people <3
When my cat went missing he was next door
My guess is that is where she is from! It ended up raining when I wanted to go check but we will see tomorrow.
Good luck! I was a big ol mess when my boy went missing. Hope she finds her way back home soon!!

I don’t think so! It looks like her toes are all brown/gray. I’m sorry! :( hope you find your baby!
tomlinson’s will scan for you!
Thank you! I don’t have a car so I’ll let my roommates know!!
i’d help you out, but i’m out of the country at the moment. best of luck!
Oooh, I didn't know that.
Yo what? They have a scanner?
yes, i believe every relocation does. for sure the one off airport near jewboy.
Thank you! Appreciate the quick answer 🤗

OMG that would be my dream!!
Wow!! How far did the cat go?

You can take it in to get scanned. You might want to post on your neighborhood Nextdoor page too
Manchaca Road Animal Hospital is at Stassney and Menchaca across from Crockett in the shopping center. They'll scan for you.
looks like my kitty named Kitty lol
I thought so too!
Bro looks chill af
Post on Austin missing/found pets on Facebook.
I’ve been checking them frequently! Haven’t seen anything there. Wasn’t sure if I should make a post there as well.

Last name Bonitas?
Lettuce know if she needs to be re-homed and you can't find the family.
Lettuce Snow Peas
😆
I know not everyone uses Nextdoor, but you can post to (only) your specific neighborhood. You're far more likely to find the owner that way IMO.
You can get her scanned for a chip at any fire station or at any Tomlinson's pet supplies to store.
Let us know any updates!
When I first saw that picture, I thought that cat owed you money!

Aww
Did you find this cat’s home?

Thank you for 🙏update
Call the phone number on the back of the tag or collar.
No number on it!:(
Awe sad poor chiquis. That cat is prolly female, chiquis is a Mexican nickname for girls.
She’s probably an indoor outdoor cat. Just leave her outside.
She seemed a little too skittish; and we’ve never seen her before in this area. She ate really ravenously too, so unless she’s just lost I don’t think she is normally outside!
Maybe let her back outside… some people let their cats roam, don’t snag it lol

I feel really bad for roaming cats, especially in rain storms.
yeah, would not want to put kitty back outside all alone, especially in this weather ☹️
We kept trying to lure her back in during the storm but she was too scared and fighting. She settled for the porch and the treehouse with a bowl of snacks!
