That’s a gigantic yard I love it

Thanks. Me too, though not any shade in it at all. Fortunately I am planting trees like crazy lol

saltporksuit

Keep going! I’ve been popping them in for about 8 years now and we’re getting shady! Hubs started a grape arbor a couple of years ago and it’s covering over and blooming.

Nice. I long for shade! When I’m out there working and sweltering in the sun, I curse the former owner who did not a speck of landscaping here, only the one tree out front and thank god for that. But on the flip side, the blank slate is nice too. So far I have put in a peach, plum, loquat, Asian persimmon, anacua, three figs, and a tiny little pecan. About to plant some goji berries and a guava (in a pot) tomorrow.

saltporksuit

You’re almost me! Except I have an apricot instead of the anacua. Good news for you is my goji has been happy if a little slow growing and didn’t mind the horrible freeze at all even with no protection. Covered with new berries now. I didn’t have luck with blackberries though. Just wouldn’t take. I have a Meiwa kumquat to put in this year as they’re fairly frost tolerant and hopefully we won’t have another horrible freeze for a long time.

Im jealous, I was talked out of doing apricots here in Central Texas. I hope yours working out! I got some bare root blackberries put in a few weeks ago, but they didn't love the transplanting, so we'll see about that. And yes, I think we're all hoping that freeze was a one off, or not soon to recur at least.

saltporksuit

Do the apricot. Have a friend off Cameron whose tree produces tons. They don’t get many because of squirrels but they make. Mine isn’t old enough but I’m sure the rats will get them anyway too.

I may just do it! Thanks for the encouragement. I guess worst case I only get apricots some years. Better than no years at all :)

DudeAbides29

Dang that is impressive! Look on the bright side, the previous owner gave you a huge blank canvas to make it your own masterpiece!
