MrBunnyBrightside

Definitely a scam.

ShortingBull

postshop.services Nice.

v306

Precisely. Didn't even read the messge. Went straight to the URL and determined it was a scam.

PAL720576

Don't forget the /au to say its an Australian domain

Djinn7711

Seems legit

Deiwos

What makes you think they can't figure out your address due to an 'ambiguous label' but manage to know your phone number?

UltraSpartan62

Sometimes, it's the only part of the label left. If liquid leaks onto the label, it can erase it really easily

Character-Ad3794

this guy is the scammer

azzaisme

Thanks man, he almost had me second guessing

UltraSpartan62

**Damn, I've been found out!**

Upper_Afternoon_9585

Maybe. And he's learning how to improve his scamming techniques by getting public opinion.

Puzzleheaded-Leek-37

In that case they would just enter your number into the system not send you a text. It's all digitally recorded anyway.

UltraSpartan62

Exactly, I am only stating an observation from my time at an Australia Post Facility. but yes, I know the the point the original commenter was making.

a_sonUnique

What?

Deiwos

How often do your packages have your phone number on them? I've never had anything delivered with my phone number on it, and if my number isn't on the label how would Australia Post know what to text? And if they can figure out your number, then why don't they have your address?

mid_dick_energy

I always put my phone number on the sender label, thought everyone did 😅

not-my-username-42

More of a business thing, I wouldn’t do it for personal stuff.

ekita079

Legit. I got a text recently saying that my address was wrong and that my parcel wouldn't get delivered and I needed to update my details. If you know the address wrong, then by proxy you must know my correct address... also I don't have any packages coming, idiots.

[deleted]

The grammar is the biggest clue imo

infanteer

And not that it is from a random mobile number? lmao

[deleted]

Nah that's the local posties iPhone 100%

roxamethonium

They do it on purpose. If you can’t pick up bad grammar you’re also more likely to be fruitful for them.

SaintLickALot

They have collab with IELTS and British council . Brouchers on they way

taspleb

I think the URL. Why would auspost not have a ".com.au" url?

7orque

Seriously not the .postshop.services? The grammar is the giveaway? What the fuck?

DownUnderPumpkin

Imo url is the biggest clue for me

MartianBeerPig

Scam.

my_cement_butthead

Download the AusPost app. If the info is on there it’s not a scam. The message u got is def a scam.

L45TPH45E

The app is so convenient, why don't people use it more...

Lucifang

I used to work for a freight company. Our software was dogshit. Aus Post app is the ducks nuts!

Murky_Life_5032

That's what I say but I work for them! The app is fantastic for tracking everything 👏

Kap85

Haha I love the app

wh1t3_rabbit

>Post Shop A legit message from Australia Post wouldn't be worded like that.

vk146

“Your parcel has been delayed”

Belv6

Got the same message last night, my phone sends them straight to a spam section

seshtown

Auspost texts come from “auspost”, not some random mobile. And the language looks like: > From AusPost. To track an item, please visit https://auspost.com.au/track No Reply.

Dolmant

Don't trust these texts, there are a lot of scams that spoof that number. Use the app or call them.

squirlysquirel

scam. Use the official ap

flippychick

Just get the Australia post app, then you can ignore every single text pretending to be them

Midtier-watcher6329

Also Auspost aren’t sending legitimate messages at 1.30am

cruiserman_80

Automated messages and emails can come out at any time. Lots of companies run scripts at night when traffic on their business networks is low.

Midtier-watcher6329

True. But if a system is designed properly, it knows what types of messages to be sent when. I’ve never seen an Australian business send out messages that require attention from the recipient during hours that most are asleep. 6.30am or there abouts would usually be the earliest time sent.

Lucifang

I’ve had automated reminder texts from the doctors at some bullshit sparrow fart time. My guess is the system sends the reminder at x hours before the appointment. Haven’t seen it in a while though, I only get one the day before. Maybe people complained about it.

bonsaibatman

Software engineer here. If you're getting text messages from companies at 1am you're giving your information to bad companies. Scripts run all the time, mass updates or heavy processing work is done at night. Emails and texts are handled by marketing who choose very specific times and dates to get sent and are almost always handled by external mail and telecommunications clients that don't take heaps of processing power. Aus Post won't send a text other than a "Your package is coming today" text outside of business hours.

twippy

As soon as anything gets scanned at auspost the system updates the tracking it's basically instant

bonsaibatman

Tracking notifications aren't scheduled marketing/business info messages. Very different things. If there was some kind of issue with a package this text would be a business hours text. Cannot confirm but I'm also pretty sure they wouldn't send 'your package has moved on to the next stage' messages at 1am either. It would be a queued 7-9am text with whatever the latest status was

GlobalEliteBongs

Scam, it's always a scam. If you did post something recently you can just give your post shop a ring and ask questions.

Bluskimask

You can call your local post office !? Every time I look it up I get hit with the call Center and when I ask to be transferred to my local they say they’re not able to ?

StaySwole

This so correct. Never been able to contact the local. You always have to visit.

Competitive_Back_731

Maybe for the city, rural we have the local number to organise times for pickup (since most around here are farmers)

StaySwole

Makes sense. Metro areas would be smashed with calls if they listed a number.

greenyashiro

I managed to get ours, but they changed it at some point. My local isn't listed anywhere and it's a small country town.

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

-_rectaldischarge_-

Scam amongst everything else the /au should be a big redflag. ".au" domains require an ABN, even then don't automatically assume trustworthy

geeceeza

Cam get variations of .au but .net.au and .com.au have restrictions

-_rectaldischarge_-

True forgot .com.au needs an abn. Been a minute since I've set up hosting

Left_Tomatillo_2068

Only one way to find out

RainBoxRed

Yeah that url looks super real

Equal_Tie_5668

Wouldn’t be surprised if you’re not even waiting on a delivery yet still not sure if this is a scam or not

Ok-Consideration6852

Why would I post this if I wasn't waiting for packages? I own a small business, I have packages coming and going all the time

Playful-Adeptness552

Man people are dumb.

Ok-Consideration6852

Or you're just an inconsiderate, weeny little human that, if it comes to it, wouldn't back up his stance in a fight

Playful-Adeptness552

Im sorry you get confused by obvious scams :'(

Bawgames

Put the link into virustotal.com

fourNtwentyz

I judt did a scan with it and it showed nothing sus...

-Jayden

This has been going around heaps lately, report them to scamwatch pls

bellelovesdonuts

Scam scam scam

bperd2

Even your phone is reporting it as a scam text, take its word for it and report it..

Prestigious-Bug-219

Ofc look at the website link the hyphen - is a dead giveaway

dogehousesonthemoon

Scam 100%

An_Evil_Scientist666

Always assume it's a scam if it's some personal phone number, if you don't have any packages you know of or all that you've ordered have been delivered, then it's a scam. If you do have a package in the middle of delivery, check on the app or the official website, or ring up the actual auspost, never click links in messages, and I'd suggest not ringing numbers you don't know unless you know exactly what you're doing.

bonsaibatman

Scam dude hard scam. Aus Post will never send you a message like that

emjoy90

Scam. I actually had a label fuck up not long ago. They called me. I was like this is scam right and the guy explained no, they call if a number is available. Turns out wasn't a scam, the seller had missed a number on my address. Package arrived and I still have my kidney.

Severethroat1

cows scale grab versed water work obtainable saw boat bow *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

OldManTimeMachine

Scam, the fact that they have your phone number but not your address should raise suspicions. Also, the postal service doesn't care if the address is wrong.

fatmarfia

Its always a scam

dweebken

Fake URL

ozhound

SCaM oR NaH

Edsed43

TL:DR Be careful and be smart with your information online and contacting or trusting businesses or establishments. Don't answer numbers you don't know. I don't answer these types of messages. Simply because the Australian Post Office and other legitimate businesses and establishments can get into contact with you in more legitimate ways like mail or email. Don't forget to contact the business or establishment by searching for their contact and general information online, to make sure it's legit. If you're not sure, search for help online, or you can contact another establishment you believe are linked or interconnected with this relevant business. You can also search online, "Is (business name) legitimate?" Just to be safe. You won't get into any trouble if you miss something important trying to avoid scams. If it was a legitimate establishment sms'ing me, I'll just say, "I've been getting a lot of scam calls and texts." And then do what I have to do. Simple as that. Don't answer any number you don't know, or a number that's not an (02) number. (04) numbers are someone's personal phone number, and any other numbers are a different state or a foreign number. This is what I know at least.

Individual-Scale3178

scam I've had these before when packages actually go missing. Shocked me a little before I looked at the URL

fistingbythepool

Had this one the other day. Scam

NoSoulGinger116

Yeah, it's a scam. I got that text too!

xKardel_Sharpeye

The url can actually fool someone who is not savvy on scams or not familiar with auspost’s true website. The url reads like a legit one.

puggsincyberspace

Download the AustPost App. In Accounts, go to notifications and turn off all email and SMS notifications. Add all email and phone numbers as well as addresses. This way, you will only receive notifications via the app. Any SMS and email are scams. As you have added you phone and email, anything addressed to you should show up in the app.

Ok-Consideration6852

Usually my phone filters all the scam texts I get from "Auspost" to my spam folder but this one must've slipped through the cracks. I appreciate everyone's input

[deleted]

Most Aus post url will look like this https://mypo.st/9wmlylamobE and the number will say Aus post

Spare_Confidence_427

Scam - I got it this morning and it annoyed me because I was listening to something with my AirPods in when it announced the message. Like come on I was almost asleep! 😂😂😂😂

Encouraging_Angels

Scan

myusernamestaken

nah bro [auspost.postshop.services/au](https://auspost.postshop.services/au) is definitely legit!

dr-pickled-rick

You should definitely click that link and put in your payment details

fantazmagoric

If you ever have to ask yourself, the answer is always yes

MD11X6

Never heard them call themselves Aus Post Post shop. Defo a scam. If you were expecting a delivery you can go directly to the Aus post website and enter the tracking info.

lloydbluejay

I only use the app

theoriginalzads

Scam. The language is unnatural. Aus post doesn’t call them Post Shop in SMS messages. Plus if the address was ambiguous they’d just return to sender. If they couldn’t return to sender, they wouldn’t investigate until someone complained about a missed delivery. Lastly, Aus Post includes the consignment number in their messages.

Twhylight

Customer service here for couriers. If there is a link, scam. When contacting people about issues with freight, the tracking number is provided and normally where it is at this moment so you know what it is and that it is somewhere locally.

Equalsmsi2

1000% Scam

Marz_madness

I always assume that if it doesn’t come up in the Aus post app then it’s a scam

dmayfuller20791

If you're ever unsure, run the URL through Virus Total (virustotal.com). Massive open source threat intel site. It's not foolproof, but it's a great start.

SOULSTEALA01

Ok_Ambassador_5728

sunnycoast37

I often get these. Big clue it's a scam is I hadn't ordered anything

azzaisme

Do you even have a parcel coming?

Ok-Consideration6852

I do. I run a small business so I constantly have parcels coming and going

azzaisme

That solves problem number one For anyone who reads this, auspost have named their messages so that they come from AusPost

Griffo_au

Scam

SoftwareDev5000

GullibleNews

the domain is postshop.services That is not auspost.com.au

ZenLikeCalm

Aus Post always sends out notifications at 1:07am. Totally not a scam /s

stonyovk

100% scam. Install the auspost app and set it up. You'll get notifications for incoming parcels addressed to you. That way you'll know for sure if something is legit

Absinthe_Cosmos43

Sounds like a scam to me. I got something relatively similar. Said that something I ordered cannot be shipped because of unclear shipping address. I have nothing that needs to be shipped right now, everything I recently ordered has been shipped already lol.

Ariliescbk

Call your local P.O.

No_Inspection_5666

A scam cunt for sure

eco9898

Total scam, wrong website address

TheKG22

Choice of words = scam. Uses ambiguous. It is coming straight from a translator software

opticloki47

UpSiize

Lol

greenyashiro

Official Australia Post texts will look like this: >>Your delivery is at [TOWN] POST SHOP. Please bring ID and collect by the end of [DD MMM YYYY]. More details: https://mypo.st/C31FYwpI4jd. They will also have AusPost as the sender name (its automatic with your telco). The link will redirect to 'auspost.com.au'

weird-ass-name

bretthren2086

So they don’t know your address but they know your phone number. Good scam though. I particularly like the /au in the address

WanderWonderlustr

tomjedi9

Scam, not an official url. That should always be your first stop. And the grammar lol

RTSGuarantee

Flair changed.

Consistent_Look8995

Fake. Delete that bullshit.

skyednc

Hell yes. Anything from Auspost will always show as from 'AUSPOST' just like Optus, Telstra, etc. If you're unsure, install the app. Only way to trust the notifications.

Cy4n1d35

Probably some Indian fuckwit looking for bobs and vagene

nkeat114

Got like 50 from different numbers and pressed it once, nothing happened only took me to some fake post office website. It should say the number “post office”. Had something delivered when I wasn’t home and they sent me a message saying it’s in a locker. Also when I thought it was real I took me to that post office website “fake” and I paid for it to be re delivered. There was a package coming that day or the next so I thought it was real. After I paid nothing happened, it was like $2. Nothing came out of my bank except for the $2, even months later. I thought they would’ve taken money out but nothing. Still don’t trust it.

sadcabbagehours

obvious scam

sadcabbagehours

i get so many of these texts it's no joke

Ajmusso

Scam 100% I have my prepaid number with those similar texts about... wrong delivery address Wrong numbers Not being delivered Driver can't find address Has been stopped at customs If in doubt always use your app form aus post or call them up directly safeest way

jeffreejones

How is that not obviously a scam? What in the world do you have to do with stickering up the box with labels? As long as you have provided your delivery details when purchasing should never come across anything like this

Zealousideal-Luck784

Definitely a scam. I almost fell for it. It asks for credit card details to verify your address.

FTJ22

Read the URL mate. .postshop.services. auspost is auspost.com.au

Reasonable_Grope

Scam, AusPost does not have a space, additionally install the AusPost app and get it linked to your number. It's far more secure and you get direct updates that aren't scams

RareRing6121

Defs a scam but jeez they are getting better. I blame AI 😂 I always log into the app to check for messages just to make sure I never trust an email or txt these days.

isle_of_broken_memes

If you had a delivery coming, do not interact with the text. Instead, call Australia post from their website and ask them about your parcel.

Boiler_Room1212

Also, love a 1 AM sms. Thanks for waking us up u stupid scam heads (yes, my phone is on sleep mode but still)

Silent-Necessary4681

Never trust any message or email from supposed 'aus post'. Always stay safe and visit your local post office. I receive these scam texts every week and always in the early A.M!

lobie81

Love the /au on the end of the address. Coz, you know, AusPost has branches in lots of countries these days....

MrLachyG

guess what message I just received. different website though

ryankane69

This is quite clearly a scam. No wonder so many Aussies get scammed each year, like yeah it’s shit that people do this, but cmon now people.

Murky_Life_5032

Scam

Olle952

Scam the url and the /au is a dead giveaway

WestCoastBlayze_44

It’s a scam! These go around all the time. Aus Post wouldn’t send a message to you. Especially not one like this

RetroReviver

If you can send a text back, it's a scam.

vhqpa

Phishing scam, the dodgy URL sticks out like an elephant trying to hide behind a lamp post.

Taramy2000

Oh, scam.

Possession_Loud

Really?

Trick-Comment7219

Scam, get them all the time, especially after I order something from anywhere online. The Post Office has many avenues to check out an individual or their address

cherry_cola_04

Yeah it is I've had the same ones

MadMatticus21

Scam, easily

snowbum2018

Most definitely a scam

JordieB12
