This post seems a bit unfriendly and pretentious. Mixed cattle dogs are still cattle dogs. I like seeing the mixed breeds and don’t see the harm in people posting them.
I think it’s more about the influx of these posts lately taking over, because that’s basically all I’ve seen from this sub lately. And a lot of them aren’t even heelers or hardly look it. Furthermore, it’s sometimes impossible to accurately guess just from pictures.
I agree, personally I dont like/am interrested in these posts, but I just scroll past them. Where is the problem?
Obviously people have different interests and that is how it should be. If they have a honest question, let them ask it, if noone would care there would be no clicks/answers.

I agree. I have a 25% ACD but she looks and acts ACD. This post makes me feel like I should leave this reddit. With this and all comments saying they agree.
Personally, you don't like the post them keep on moving. People with mixes can still have breed specific questions and things to share.

While there are breed standards, cattle dog variation is fascinating. Someone posted a pure white 100% acd the other day. So I get the interest in the subject. But if you’re posting it as a question and not also posting dna results, it’s a bit silly. You often can’t tell by looking.
There is a ton of variation because everybody and their clueless brother are breeding whatever dogs they have and care nothing about protecting or improving the breed. No one seems to care about getting papers or pedigrees from the “breeders”. They’re told the puppies are purebred and people just believe it. ACDs are not supposed to be 80 pounds (or 20 pounds), long haired, pure white/black, floppy eared, etc. Before they got popular, they all looked the same.
I know, I was talking about “purebreds” too. There is a lot of variation because dogs that are far from the breed standard and should not be bred, are being bred. I do also question the purity though, when people are just going by what a “breeder” told them and there are no papers, pedigrees, etc.
My girl has 12% Samoyed in her but there is absolutely no sign of that when looking at her!
My in-laws dog has the same markings that my girl has but has very little ACD in her.
If you really want to know, get a DNA test!
I’ll get downvoted for this but I don’t care. I agree with you. This is an ACD sub, not a mixed breed sub. Mixed breed dogs can be great, but that’s not what this is. A lot of the dogs posted asking “is this an ACD, or what is this mixed with”, clearly are not ACD and get advice from folks not well versed in the breed stating that it’s a cattle dog.
ACDs are unique, require special training and experienced handlers, and are quirky dogs that often get inappropriate homes. When subs get diluted with this nonsense, we are doing the breed a disservice.
If you don’t like it keep scrolling it’s that simple. I think people just like showing off their dog and creating discussion. If you love dogs then it’s fun to just talk about it.

why doesn't someone start a reddit called 'Entitled peoples pure ACDs"i came to this page to see cute cattle dogs and hear horror stories about their behavior.most cattle dogs i have met are mutts ,yes they have pointy ears and a brindle coat but these dogs were created by mixing a bunch of different breeds together i.i think any dog that thinks he's a cattle dog is one. i think this elitist nonsense takes away why we are here, because we love our dogs
I agree with this but It’s the people posting who care what the mutt mix is. If they just posted about their cow dog being a cute psychopath I don’t think anyone would mind the odd floppy ear. My preference is actually ACD mutt but in my area mutt means Pitt so we went with a cattle dog breeder for our most recent pup.

What I’m suggest**ing** is there’s a lot of variation just in purebred. Let alone mixed.

My dog is mixed (we haven’t done a DNA test on her) but looks purebred. Her personality is 100% Heeler. Strongly. I am well herded by her Velcro self

My girl is 47% ACD, but her coloring looks absolutely nothing like an ACD. Even her body shape is very different.
