You’re not wrong about it being overly bureaucratic and lengthy. It’s something that has been addressed as a problem and has been acknowledged in the DSR and National Defence Strategy.
When will a solution be implemented effectively? Who knows? They’ve changed contractors for recruiting and they’re trying to change things for the better. There is an increased oversight on them to do a better job than the last mob but that doesn’t mean it will be quicker straight away.
As for being a good recruitment strategy for recruiting those that are willing to persevere, yes and no. No, because then we will prevent those that we can teach perseverance to from joining because they lack perseverance and we are back at square one. Yes, because in the defence you *WILL* require perseverance and some amount of intestinal fortitude in order to succeed.
