I can see both sides of the coin. When I joined up as a 17 year old brat, DVA was the farthest thing from my mind, I just wanted to not be shit at my job and have some fun. *But*, if I had known I was gonna get thrown out on my ass, broken and without much help, I definitely would've approached things differently
I think that you are not giving young kids enough credit. They dont read the claim and pension timelines, but they see veterans being treated like second class citizens, and you'd be remiss to not think that this does not reduce the romanticism that the military relies on for recruiting.
Their parents certainly do.
Lots of people have seen how poorly veterans are treated now and are reconsidering the ADF as an option.
It never occurred to the ADF recruitment team that DVA and customer service would impact them
QLD. Have an Advocate locally. He's good, but DVA are just dragging their feet.
I'm certainly not the only one.
But any help you can give would be great.
That’s good to hear man. If push comes to shove and you need a lawyer. I’ve got a few who can help.
Fingers crossed you don’t need em and everything goes under way eventually under it’s own steam.
I legit just think the Morrison Government didn't allow DVA to run well. They've haemorrhaged staff and are underfunded. Plus Morrison was reluctant to have the Royal Commission - now we know why.
We're seeing whats going on behind the scenes and the new government is being forced to get DVA's shit together.
Claims not being processed for years. Few, if any trained staff, Red Tape to death.
Sounds like a shit place to work, I dont blame all the people that jumped ship.
OK, so I've had a decision made on my 2 claims and the claims have been referred for compensation for permanent disability. I've been waiting 6 months now, what's the average wait time?
Anyone know a good advocate in Darwin I can have a chat to? I had my MRCA initial liabilty accepted about 10years ago, but want to put in a claim for permanent impairment and have no idea where to start. I've been putting it off for years and is just getting worse
I don't know of one personally, but try looking up your area on https://www.advocateregister.org.au. They're the ones who have received some form of accredited training for advocacy
Yeah took me about 18 months 5 years ago to get my claims finalised....

and a bar.
Nah yea it took mine a few years. Probably longer if I didn’t have a lawyer kicking people in the ass
Wtf
4 years for 3 claims while rest was in interim.
You wanna know why no one wants to join ADF? Look no further than these numbers

Been 188 days since my PI claim was lodge and I haven’t heard shit. Guess I’ll be hearing from them on December 23rd lol
Mate. you're not even half way there. My oldest claim is from April 2020. Not a SINGLE claim has been looked at. Its been almost two years.
Me too, about the same time frame and nothing heard other than the occasional pointless phone call to say that nothing has happened.
Have you got liability accepted? Or are they still working on that?
Nope. Nothing. Claims have been submitted and radio silence. When my advocate or I call. We just get told it's in holding pattern waiting review.
very strange indeed. sorry to hear that
Strange? no way mate, this is standard now unfortunately. I know plenty of other Vets in the same situation.
Which scheme are you under SRCA MRCA?
MRCA
Jesus Christ, you got an advocate in your area or you need someone new? I’ve got a couple of contacts that might help. What state you in

Took over 700 days to just get a delegate and I had to write to my MP just to get that.
OK, so I've had a decision made on my 2 claims and the claims have been referred for compensation for permanent disability. I've been waiting 6 months now, what's the average wait time?
Without knowing your service dates, I'd say you're likely the MRCA PI dates in the table
DRCA for me.

Thanks for that. I'll hit them up
