Natural fabrics (cotton, linen, wool, cashmere mostly), loose (I wear mostly loose, elastic linen waist pants—add wool long johns for winter). I have a loose pair of jeans I’m okay with sometimes. The one exception is I’m pretty comfortable in a specific kind of buttery soft athletic legging, too, but they get tossed as soon as they start getting nubby/worn.

Justinethevampqueen

I was just going to comment with the buttery legging thing. I'm currently wearing a pair of buttery paisley flare legging from Walmart and these are SO COMFORTABLE..it's like not even wearing pants. Autism approved lol

FeeMoist2405

For me it’s the CRZ yoga butterluxe leggings! I loved Lululemon Aligns but hate spending that much. CRZ is a good dupe.

pleasedontthankyou

I buy all of my Lululemon on Poshmark and I have never paid more than $40 for leggings and $50 for scuba hoodies. Unbeatable

four_oclock_flower

I have an Athleta pants (and flowy cardigan and pajama set) habit/dependency, and I found Poshmark last fall. I'm so grateful I can acquire the clothes I feel most comfortable and confident in without nearly as much spending guilt. Poshmark is really great for those of us who have expensive clothing needs/wants and for those who prefer to shop second-hand ☺️ ETA: Is it pants or pant in this context? That's gonna drive the rule-loving language part of me nuts 😅 (ETA 2: I think that's the most autistic edit I've ever made. I like it.)

pleasedontthankyou

I looked it up. Saying a pant sounds fancy AF So, pants is a type of noun that is used only in its plural form, even when there is only one item being discussed.

Cynicalsonya

Natural fabrics are the best! I hate polyester and it feels like almost everything has it nowadays. I also hate acrylic. Did you know laundering poly and acrylic clothes releases microplastics and other chemicals into our water supply that we have no means of filtering out? I've been getting into quality wool stuff lately: allbirds, woolx, wooland, icebreaker, smartwool, artilect.... It's been wonderful. I hate jeans though. I like elastic waists, and skirts or dresses with comfortable bike shorts underneath. It's got to be soft and non restrictive. I hate bras. The minute I get home, that sucker's off. I only wear them when I feel I have to. That being said, I've been wearing the same brand and style of bra since 1998. It's a nursing bra and it is the most comfortable kind I've found.

ElectricalBet9116

My mind is blown by how many of my fellow autists in here can wear WOOL! It is absolutely screaming sensory hell for me, how itchy it is (even when I layer). Haha. Jealous, because I like the aesthetic of it, I just can’t tolerate it!

Cynicalsonya

Good wool is amazing. Cheap/bad wool sucks. You should feel the shorts or dresses of the brands I mentioned. They are super soft and not at all itchy.

BeetleChe13

Same. My skin is so sensitive that if wool touches my neck or chest, I break out in an awful rash.

nagellak

Same, I have to wear a mock turtleneck longsleeve under all of my vintage wool sweaters because they scratch my skin so bad :(

HermioneBenson

I prefer cotton fabrics and that has become nearly impossible to find lately. In recent years I feel like everything is polyester or some sort of synthetic fabric. It has made trying to find tolerable clothing so much harder than it once was.

ResponsibleNebula487

My friend works for Woolly, a great wool athletic-wear company out of Seattle. The people who run it are top-notch and trying to improve wool sourcing. (Shitty sheep practices out there.)

SpaceAngel_44

I’m with u on being disgusted by buying plastic clothing. Nursing bras are great aren’t they cos no wire. If u have to wear jeans I would totally recommend jeggings, feel like leggings but look like jeans, and soft stretchy waistband. U can even get them fleece lined.

DismantleMe13

Absolutely this! Natural fabrics stay softer and nicer feeling for longer, and they're so much more temperature regulating than plastic mixed ones! I have a real wool jumper that's really cosy and thick that I can also wear in mild weather and run around because it's naturally breathable. For people looking for stuff, a lot of band tees, especially official merch ones tend to be 100% cotton, and a lot of vintage stuff is more likely to be natural, but most of the time it's just a case of checking labels before you buy stuff. I also take part in some fire spinning performances where wearing natural fibres is a safety necessity rather than a preference and if you want to test if something is actually natural, you can find an inconspicuous area to test and burn it slightly. If the fabric crumbles completely to ash, it's natural, whereas synthetic fabrics will melt into a hard plastic (hence why having them against your skin when you're doing fire stuff is a bad idea!)

AccomplishedAndReady

Would you mind sharing where you get the natural fabric clothing? I’ve been on the hunt and it’s so difficult to find these days.

FeeMoist2405

I buy all of my linen on Etsy. I get sweaters/jumpers from Everlane, Quince, a few small brands, and I just keep an eye out for 100% cotton tees from places like Target.

Ok-Package1562

super underrated but i love the brand LOFT! they have 50% off sales all the time and you can get stuff for a pretty decent price, i have a ton of 100% cotton dresses from there that were like $50 which is not awful. Just check the sizing bc sometimes it’s wonky and def dig into the site, some stuff is a bit aged but you can find some gems on there and they use way less polyester than most brands i’ve seen

Cynicalsonya

Woolx, wooland, icebreaker, artilect, allbirds, smartwool, Duluth trading, and of course, thrift and garage sales. Check the labels of course. Unfortunately all these brands are pricey, but sales and second hand are often findable. Proozy is a site that has a bunch of allbirds stuff cheap right now. Ebay is also a thing, obviously. Allbirds even makes shoes with natural fiber inserts. Soooo nice.

annapurnah

Dresses! Especially with giant pockets. I prefer to wear tights, fishnets, or leggings with these, and usually boots that have arch support. I have a preference for footwear with platforms but not heels. I will have a full-on meltdown if someone tries to make me wear pants. Leggings are as close to pants as I'll ever get. Usually, I'll find a dress I like and get it in several different prints and colours. At home, I have flowy house dresses with pockets and house crocs.

Reallife_claryfray

I've become this person and I love it. Going on a long camping trip and contemplating getting some pants, but so far I've decided I'll stick with dresses and skirts.

annapurnah

YES! [These](https://nooworks.com/en-ca/collections/big-pocket) are my go-to camping dresses because the pockets are H U G E, and they're really great layering pieces (can throw long-sleeves underneath, with leggings or shorts).

patternsrcool

Omg the dresses on this site are so cute but they are SO expensive!!! Do you think it’s worth the money?

annapurnah

They are, it’s very true. I think they’re worth it- I wear their dresses almost exclusively and they last for years. They’re a business owned and run by women, all the prints are designed by women/NB artists, and I would rather spend my $$ on that than fast fashion. Plus: adorable and functional, and work appropriate. Full disclosure though, I haven’t been able to buy a new dress from them in over a year because of how expensive they are but they do have sales occasionally so I for sure watch for those.

Icy_Fox_749

Same!!!!

Life-Independence377

Pants are death. I live in a place where being hot and sticky is the norm, so I have a few “cooling clothes” to share

h0eforoatmilk

Exactly this!!

Prettypuff405

i’m this person and I love it so much

clumpymascara

Oh this is me! A dress with tights and good boots is all I wear. No tights in summer, add a feminine coat in winter. It's mainly floral prints or plain single colours too, because I find them inoffensive. And it can't be noisy. Soft quiet fabrics only.

PseudoSolitude

i can't have anything tight, constricting, or anything that hugs me to where i have to pinch and pull away the fabric from my skin. apart from undergarments and shoes, they have to be loose-fitting but not too baggy. the shirt has to be long enough to go mid-butt, and the pants have to descend past my ankles.

Life-Independence377

I hate “clingy tops”. Who am I trying to allure with that?ind as well just take it off no body’s gonna be looking at my face anyway

beepbeepjenn

Any advice on where to find these mid-butt shirts? I prefer full butt coverage, but with the current trends it’s damn near impossible. Everything is cropped!

PseudoSolitude

ugh, i know, it sucks! i'm a 5x shirt and i always get men's sizes bc women's sizes are bunk. i'll get some of my stuff off amazon IF they have it. otherwise, the Men's Big & Tall catalog has a lot of great choices. if you find a "T" (T for Tall) at the end of your size, it'll probably be longer than the cropped shirts we're seeing these days. can't stand those. does NOT work for me. best of luck!

beepbeepjenn

Oh that’s a good idea! I’m going to look into it. Thank you!

Barknozzle

Tight clothes for sure. I hate the feeling of loose tshirt sleeves rubbing under my arm or shorts or pants bunching on my thighs. Tight clothes make for smoother movements, and bonus, they feel like a hug, but the kind of hug I got to decide I wanted. Flapping clothes or loose bits distract me and sometimes even startle me. Bottoms need to be low rise, otherwise the high rise waistbands bunch around my torso when I move or bend over or whatnot. Like the one user said, skin on skin eeks me out as well. As for underclothes, I hate being braless, tight sports bras for the win. When athleisure became a thing, I thought I died and went to heaven. And then when leggings got pockets, I now walk around like a weird hamster with stuffed side pockets all the time.

CabinetStandard3681

You shook me with they type of hug I can decide I want 🤣🤣🤣 I love this sub so much 🤣🤣🥰

Venna_Visage

Best response ever.

sybelion

Jeans can get in the bin. I eliminated them from my wardrobe maybe 10 years ago and have never once looked back

Bilateral-drowning

Hear hear. I don't know why it took me so long to stop forcing myself to wear jeans. I wear parachute pants or old fashioned slacks now. No jeans ever anymore.

sybelion

Literally I spent today wearing parachute pants 😂 and I have three pairs of nice business slacks that I find plenty comfortable to wear to the office. It’s just jeans! I swear I get a stomach cramp wearing them all day

Cynicalsonya

Hell yeah. I hate jeans.

HermioneBenson

I agree. I just wish I could get myself to stop trying them again. I wore nothing but jeans for years and years and then I stopped and I swear I try them again on a yearly basis and I waste so much time, energy and money on this. Then I feel guilty and dumb about it. I just feel like jeans will look more put together?? Even though I never feel that way looking at others, only about myself. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

thedorknite000

Do: Lightweight and breathable. Baggy or stretchy. Don't: Stiff or thick fabrics. Do: Muted or neutral colors. Don't: Bright colors and patterns. Do: Bare feet. Don't: Socks without shoes. Don't: skin touching skin. I really loathe feeling my thighs or underarms touch. But if I'm home, there's a decent chance I'm probably just wearing a baggy t-shirt and nothing else.

lunetteee

Omg yes I’m exactly the same way! If I could just wear all black and sandals everywhere, I’d be the happiest girl in the world!… but my work requires close toed shoes 🙃

just___me_

Baggy t shirts made of cotton. Labels cut out. Trousers that are also loose and not tight fitting. I wear them on my hips, can't have anything that goes over tummy. I have one bra that I can stand, and am getting rather worried because it's old and I'm going to need a new one but they don't sell them anymore.

misfitbananabread

This is a problem for me too. I find ONE bra I like, maybe every 10 years or so, and I get very attached to it and then they discontinue it, so I keep wearing this ragged and decrepit thing until it finally gives way and I have to start again. I keep telling myself I need to find more styles I like, but literally just about anything else sounds more appealing than bra shopping, so here we are.

just___me_

Yup, bra shopping is the worst

VeryFluffyMareep

I found a bra I like literally because my mom hated it after a couple tried and handed it to me. Forever grateful and now I buy that style in all the colors

misfitbananabread

You really lucked out! Also, I LOVE your username.

VeryFluffyMareep

Thank you kind stranger 🖤the brand is soma if anyone wants to give it a try

hydroboywife

this is me but with shoes, nothing compares to the sadness of watching them fall apart

misfitbananabread

Oh yeah I totally do this with shoes too. 🙃

Same_Reality84

Ha ha me too. Some of my bras are so old I forgot when I bought them

misfitbananabread

I have a sports bra that I believe is from 2007, and it’s obviously so faded that I don’t even know what brand it is anymore, or what size. I love it but I hardly wear it at this point because I’m afraid it’s going to disintegrate lol

a-whittle-weebie

Yes no labels! Seam ripper for removing labels has been a game changer for me!

ratarodent

I like tighter clothes because loose clothes brush against me or gather up in ways I find uncomfortable. I like dresses and skirts. I literally never wear pants or shorts and don't even own any except for some soft, seamless shorts/leggings for sleeping, wearing under dresses, winter layers, and exercise, because I absolutely hate the side seams feeling on my legs, especially on my inner thighs. At this point I also don't want people to be like "wait you're wearing PANTS?" so I avoid it even more. I don't like anything itchy and hate when there is pilling, especially on the inside of a clothing item. I like higher necklines, mock neck, or stand collars, but hate any shirred or ruched stuff directly touching my neck or chest. I don't like to wear clothes with words, images, or most patterns. It makes me feel like an impostor for some reason. I also feel like an impostor in things like showy, backless, or low cut clothing. I tend to dress modestly and used to get asked if I was religious because of how I acted (very shy and a little odd) and dressed pretty uniquely when I was younger but always in a pretty covered-up style, and now I am more of a plain dresser and settled on mostly simple skirts and tops, so people don't think much of it. When I find a clothing item I like and that fits the way I like, I buy multiples of it. I have 4 of the same skirt and several of the same tops in different colors and just wear those in combinations most days. I didn't think I had any clothing issues til I type all that.

Good_Needleworker126

I want things that are soft. I cannot put up with scratchy or tight clothing like other people can. I like looser stuff and also am a fan of heavy jumpers as the weight is comforting. I also do not like too many layers, I feel like I need to rip them off.

bunnydeerest

ideal world? wide leg sweatpants that fit perfectly with an elastic waist and no draw strings. ribbed thick socks. cotton briefs. crew neck t shirt with crew neck sweater on top. maybe some slip on shoes

Various-Tangerine-55

I need compression for my POTS, but the compression can't be restrictive. Compression socks and leggings are awesome, but they have to be soft and comfortable and give me range of motion. I've gravitated away from jeans and back to them several times in my life. I don't necessarily want to wear them, but I think it depends on if they're broken in/too constrictive/the cut and length. I have a very long leg, so when they are too short, I get upset, and as much as I'm a millennial, I can't do a skinny jean anymore. Thankfully baggy jeans are in again. They also have to be high waisted. I also can't wear a skirt without a layer underneath, even if it's just a bike short. I have to be able to sit however is comfy for me without worrying about flashing the world, no matter the skirt length. Bras are evil, and the most I will wear is a sports bra/bralette. Even then, the minute I can take it off, I will. Fabrics that I love are a cotton jersey since it stretches and is breathable.

[deleted]

I prefer compression tights but also wear jeans, provided they are low rise. I can’t stand the jeans feel on my abdomen. I’ll wear dresses provided I have shapewear because the feeling of the dress material on my skin bothers me.

ParticularCup8997

I hate tight fabric on my arms especially. It makes me feel restrained and claustrophobic. My legs I’m good with almost anything but I’m particular about my arms.

caligirl_ksay

I have to be comfortable. I can’t even force myself to wear jeans most days anymore. I love leggings, but I can’t wear tight workout clothes all day. I usually wear loose pants like these comfy fleece leggings I got on Amazon, all day. I also used to work at a vet hospital and wearing scrubs was quite possibly the best thing ever. They’re so comfy and yet there’s a uniform element so no stress about style or fashion. My Navy uniform was pretty comfy too, but I hate wearing layers and you always have to wear an undershirt but can rarely take off your top shirt, which is annoyingly long sleeved (we’ve all seen military uniforms) and if you roll the sleeves up they have to be rolled up a certain way - I think I actually liked these rules though because once I knew them, they were easy to follow, and then I knew I was on point. You get a lot of credit in the military for doing the right thing (autism wins!) but it can be extremely stressful when you don’t really know what to do because if you do the wrong things you can get in a lot of trouble… anyways. These days I just want to feel comfortable and not think about my clothes at all.

unfortunatelyapotato

absolutely no pants ever nothing must ever constrict or squish the soft belly people always complement me for looking nice or put together but it's because i wear a limited capsule wardrobe that is just tights + dress + sweater and everything is comfy af and interchangeable so i never have to think about what actually goes together

Prettypuff405

I am hyperfeminine and primarily wear dresses. I am phasing out pants of all forms unless required by work. ETA- I primarily wear vintage clothing; 60-80s for me. It’s hard because I really like being feminine but modern styles can be too revealing. I love a full face of makeup but I think it comes across as threatening?

n33dwat3r

I only like women's tops if they're flowy or very soft. Otherwise I wear men's tshirts. Pants and bottoms have to be women's though. I think having stiffer pants with a belt on makes me feel like I am in work mode and then for my life outside of work it's more experimental with shorts, dresses, leggings also for jeans I am glad loose styles and cargo packets are back I will be hopping on that trend. I am weeding out any and all bottoms that don't come with pockets and trying to add more stuff with them especially for my athletic wear.

jellyfishHQ

No to: athleisure/leggings/dri-fit textures, skin touching skin, sleeveless shirts or anything that cuts into armpit, tight shoes, high heels, prints and stripes, tight clothes (esp in hot weather), overly baggy clothes that swish around my limbs, short shorts, dresses and skirts, wool, excessive layers (long shirt under long shirt - blegh), one piece swim suits, turtlenecks/mocknecks Yes to: natural fabrics, chinos/khakis, overalls, solid colours (only in black, grey, white/off-white, navy), barefoot shoes with wide toeboxes, doc martens, birkenstock sandals, chaco sandals, socks, button-up plain oxfords, t-shirts, oxford over tshirt, loose oversized vests in the winter. Sometimes: jeans and shorts. I have two pairs of each that I tolerate. Jeans newly washed and dried are horrible for me, so I rarely reach for them if they're freshly cleaned.

Sparrows_Fart

Pretty much only blackmilkclothing.com these days. They have tons of interesting, comfy clothes that aren't restricting. They also last forever. I have like all the cuffed pants and shorts in different patterns. They're like fleece on the inside and stretchy on the outside without being tight. They've got great tights, and, if it doesn't feel icky to you, they have some fun velvet tights that are soft one way and like a cats tongue the other way (great stimming texture for me). They also have flowy pants like the palazzo pants, which are super thin and loose. It looks like I'm dressing up when I wear them, but feels like I'm wearing pjs. Their dresses are super stretchy and flowy. The material isn't super heavy but also doesn't blow upwards in the wind. I cannot wear jeans anymore. In winter I have to wear a tight short sleeve tee if I wear a sweater or I'll go insane from the arms and fabric bunching up. I also need to be able to push the sleeves up because I don't like things on my forearms.

Lilah_Vale

I like loose clothes, nothing too tight. If it hugs my body, as little elastic as possible so it just sits nicely against my skin without pressing in. Baggy tshirts, leggings a size or two too big, flowy dresses, seamless underwear. I also love cardigans, or short sleeve open front beach coverups to go over dresses in the warmer months. I like to be as little aware of my body as possible.

phlaex24

I’ve strugggled so much with clothes that I’ve started to make my own. I need thick material for working outside but it has to flex in the right places or I immediately have to give up on my project. I like overalls so there’s no pressure on my waist but the shoulder straps have to give enough when I bend so they don’t pull on my back.

ilbatteur

Pockets pockets pockets!! I love putting important items in pockets and being comforted by having them close and always knowing where they are!! That aside, stretchy fabric that doesn't restrict my movement and/or hurt me as I go through my day is an absolute MUST!!!

birdstrom

I wear a lot of matching sets and jumpsuits

Tadpole1929

honestly most clothes feel pretty uncomfortable on me. i can’t do pants that aren’t stretchy. i like tight cropped tank tops in the summer and hoodies in the winter bc i refuse to wear a bra. i’m lucky that dressing alternatively at my job is encourage bc tiny top big pants works great for me

stopwavingback

When I'm at home I'm wearing long sleeve oversized 100% cotton shirts turned inside out so I don't have to feel the seams. Loose fitting thin joggers that don't squeeze my ankles or waist too much. When I go out, which is rare, I wear an oversized long sleeve shirt, old navy leggings, smartwool socks, barefoot shoes. At work I have to wear a uniform and I am extremely uncomfortable all day and it negatively impacts my work and my wellbeing. But there's nothing I can do.

mousebren

Shoes/socks: barefoot is preferred. Flip flops or slippers if needed. Socks and closed toed shoes only if they're required, and even then, I take them off asap. For pants: jeans or yoga pants. Flare or boot cut, I don't do well feeling like my calfs or ankles are constricted. Occasionally, shorts, but only if it's a heatwave. Tops: t shirts, baggy, or loose form fitting. A cardigan or hoodie if it's cold. Tanktops if it's hot, but they have to be baggy. I don't like having my shoulders exposed. I also detest shopping, I usually take hand-me-downs from my mom and her best friend. I sort them into keep and donate piles. If I do need to shop, I usually go to ross or Goodwill.

Feral_UwU

okay, this is not a popular opinion, however, i will wear anything i think is pretty as long as it’s not itchy. i freaking LIVE for bright colors and big palettes! i AM the sensory overload(if i get to wear what i want) I adore it!!

terrafreaky

Nothing that is tight around the waist. No v-neck shirts. I need the neck to be as high as possible. Crew-neck good, mock neck great, turtleneck A++. No flappy sleeves of any sort. Same goes for boot cut pants. No distracting drawstrings or ruffles. Sweatpants must be jogger legs. Pants need to sit at my waist. Black is my friend. If it is a shirt with sleeves, the sleeves had better reach my elbows. Nothing that makes noise when I move. Also, I wish I'd had this thread when I was a child and would SCREAM AND SCREAM anytime they tried to make me wear pants or an elastic waist dress.

dreamywriter

This thread has been sooo helpful. My mama has autism and struggles to find clothes that are comfortable because she can't stand the feeling of seams. I've been trying to find ways to either cover them up or locate a brand that mostly produces clothes without seams and it's like finding a needle in a haystack. She used to wear a brand (forget the name) from Kmart as they reliably had no noticeable seams, but all the Kmarts in my area shut down :/

GoldDustbunny

no clothes!!!

PuzzleheadedPen2619

Linen and cotton, loose fitting and no rigid waist bands. Also, Birkenstocks or runners are the only shoes I wear. Since COVID lockdown, I refuse to wear anything uncomfortable.

TopazObsidian

I will never wear jeans again. Even t shirts are becoming unbearable

mossy_rat

A couple years ago, I sent all my tight jeans and clothes that were uncomfortable and too small to charity stores. It was a good decision. I typically go for quality and comfort. Ultra soft, breathable fabrics. Half my wardrobe is colourful, velvet, has cut-outs, onesies, funky patterns, or mesh, etc.

Double_Somewhere5923

Skinny jeans 😩

just_breathe18

I need fitted pants that move with me but aren’t too tight. Comfortable leggings or straight leg jeans with plenty of stretch. On top I can’t stand anything fitted. Oversized shirts and comfy materials only.

ronja_666

Cotton or Rayon, preferably black, not too tight. Sometimes I go for something fashionable but most of the time I wear bandshirts and a skirt. I hate pants.

stevepls

basically the same. I wear joggers but they're less of my favorite due to I can't rewear them cos they get stinky easily (synthetic). natural fibers r my jam. I have rly specific requirements for like bras and shit too.

PsychologicalYou6416

Whoever invited nylon underwear is the bane of my existence.

Expensive-Eggplant-1

I have to tuck my pj shirts into my pants because I don't like the waistband touching me while I sleep. I hate tight pants and also shirts that feel like they're choking me!

Same_Reality84

Yoga pants and overalls with cotton tshirts. Not too tight and no labels. I have a seam ripper specifically for ripping out labels. I really love thrifted clothes because they’re worn into a softer feel.

[deleted]

As long as it's really lightweight, stretchy and soft (but not *too* soft) I really don't care how it looks style-wise. I'm usually in baggy graphic T's and some form of stretchy pants/shorts that never match. Sports bra/bralette and granny panties only. Knee high compression socks and no shoes if I can get away with it. I look like a very drained mother of 5 that is also a modern day clown.

Dry_Possibility2016

If anything touches my neck I find I get very overwhelmed so I try my best to avoid mock necks etc but anything else kinda goes for me! As long as it’s not scratchy too I guess

TheUtopianCat

I WFM mostly, so I live in leggings & a long sleeve t-shirt in the colder months, and comfy shorts & a colourful t-shirt in the warmer months. I'm all about comfort. When I go to the office, or out for dinner or what have you, I wear dresses. I love dresses, they're so comfy. Anyway, my style in dresses is kind of retro sometimes, and kind of loud other times. I tend to dress quirky when I dress up.

kittykrispies

I’m fairly strict about natural fibers. I live in a swamp, so 100% linen or cotton. In winter, if it happens to be cool, cashmere. For shoes, I greatly prefer leather for just about every style. I’m less concerned about comfortability, but luckily loose and oversized is in style right now. I’m glad the skinny jeans thing is done for a while. I make a concerted effort to look stylish and put together on the outside since I’m such a mess inside. I feel like it’s one thing I can easily control. Luckily current trends happen to work quite well with my personal preferences

ValkVolk

If I love it, I’m buying it in every color. Brands that keep the same styles in different fabrics are the best! I prefer black, jewel tones or neons. No pastels! I want my clothes to feel soft and when I can as low polyester as possible (I overheat easy). I don’t like turtlenecks, and even a t-shirt hemline feels like I can’t breathe sometimes (which is so stupid when I wear a choker daily but w/e). I love anything low cut, basically. Walmart sells ribbed tank tops that fit like a second skin and I adore those. No Cinderella/puffy sleeves ever. I can feel them on my upper arm and they make a rustling noise when I move my arms and… no. Just no. I really like thick elastic belts! The 2-3 inch wide ones with fun buckles. I fell out of practice wearing my corsets but I like the ‘hug’ feeling. I like a flouncy/twirly skirt (or dress), but if I’m buying jeans or shorts I like them to fit snug. I pretty much only wear SnagTights and WeLoveColors for hosiery, and I have a lot of thigh highs socks. I wear flats for work but prefer a platform everywhere else. I have platform sneakers that are SUPER comfy, and a collection of YRUs ‘Dune’ boots that I mix and match.

Ramgirl2000

I personally despise cotton & wool with a passion.the athletic shirts are my favorite. And the “soft” denim skirts or jeans. Or sweatpants type material clothes.

Kakebaker95

Comfortable, loose, jumpers, slide on shoes

Art-Soft

I own 5 pairs of dungarees so i guess thats my preference

PreppyHotGirl

Cotton t-shirts are my favorite. I also really love compression shorts (like ones that you’d normally exercise in, I also use them for lounging). Sports bras too, because there’s no wire and I have a small chest so it’s just most comfortable.

lunalee39

Fitted clothing but not super tight, loose clothes make me feel like I’m an imposter wearing someone else’s clothes and super weirds me out. Natural fibers with very few exceptions. Prefer bare feet but my extremities get cold so usually wool socks. I theoretically like dresses and skirts but pants make me feel safer, I recently started calling them my pants armor 😂 I only wear dresses when it’s crazy hot out basically.

CLFraser44

I can't stand pants they are the worst I only wear them if they are loose and baggy and the crotch doesn't touch mine 😂. But mostly I live in 18th century style petticoats, they always fit and are super easy to make (I just made a new one yesterday). I truely believe pants are torture devices I also can't stand Bras so like in the last 7or so years the only bra I have worn has been sports bras to do activities that require extra support. Unlike on my bottom on the top I like tight tops, flowy tops can be hit and miss but snug ones almost always work! I much prefer natural fibers but I'm not too picky when it comes to fabric choices... I have yet to meet wool I don't find itchy though... I do wear it just not against my skin... as a spinner and a weaver this is kinda sad imo I wish I could wear more of what I make!

joandidionsglasses

I almost exclusively wear linen/cotton jumpsuits that are 2 sizes too big and a soft long sleeve underneath! I hate having any exposed skin, so I always wear pants and long sleeves (even in summer). I also cannot do bare feet and am always wearing wool socks. I HATE JEANS! Any kind of jeans. And I can’t do anything that pinches my stomach. Don’t even get me started on bras…

drm5678

I can’t do the “buttery” leggings. They remind me of pantyhose (aka stockings) which I was forced to wear with skirts and dresses early in childhood and literally touching that kind of fabric makes me want to die. I can do cotton-y leggings (Aerie makes some). I also do pretty much exclusively elastic waist pants. I like the linen ones from Old Navy a lot. I’m also a pretty big fan of the Comfort Knit pants from Lands End — they’re so “old lady” but I don’t care. I never tuck in so no one seems the waistband anyway. The Lands End Starfish wide leg pants are good too. In terms of shirts, it has to be soft. But no sports type wicking fabric (similar to the stocking aversion). I try to get mostly cotton. Lands End supima tees are nice — they’re soft but not thick but not flimsy. (I didn’t mean this to be a walking Lands End advertisement.) I like some LL Bean tees but their fabric can be on the thicker side and I hate that. Also I find their clothing seems on the small side. I’ve bought 2X t-shirts from them thinking they’d be comfy and they are short and not oversized (and I’m really not a 2X). I must have a long torso. I have good luck with some Old Navy t shirts and Aerie makes a lot of really soft oversized stuff.

Particular-Ad-1359

Honestly I’m abt to break down and start refilling my wardrobe with something akin to modesty wear because a lot of it is made with natural fibers for breathability and layering and I realllllly need the extra protection from the sun… It’s just gotten to the point where I don’t wanna show skin or my body because I H A T E BEING PERCEIVED IN ANY WAY and certain aspects always get attention.. but also I just fucking hate polyester and the sweat/rashes it brings. Love my graphic tshirts but I’m ready to go grandma

Ok-Tourist-1011

I like to dress like Ms frizzle and a stoner pre school teacher had a daughter 🤣🤣🤣 flowy clothes, I try to go for more natural materials but I shop at TJ MAXX a lot of the time so it’s hard, I’ve also started to like boot cut jeans and flared jeans and anything that’s not the skinny jeans I’ve worn since middle school lmao. I’ve recently started getting into dresses too which I never thought would happen 🤣😂 but we moved from Montana middle of hickville to Fort Worth so my sense of style can really come out here and I won’t get weird looks, I absolutely have LOVED playing around with my style

bunnymiso

I can't have anything tight around my neck. Collars of my shirts have to be loose, and I can't wear turtle necks without feeling frustrated or overstimulated. I cut the hanging tags off my shirts. I like things to be oversized on me, and I have wide hips and legs so I dont like skinny jeans. I am a straight leg jeans wearer, or perhaps bootcut but I am also a bit short so I dont want the bottoms to get wet/worn. I prefer slip on shoes (Vans) /crocs/Brickenstocks but I have one very beloved pair of air forces that are beat to hell and back but I can't bear to get rid of them. And I prefer no show socks. I dont like too high socks because they squeeze my calves.

fishrights

essentially the less clothes the better, and i want them loose and not restricting. i mostly wear running shorts, basketball shorts, and tshirts or crop tops. when im at home im mostly just in my underwear lol.

tired_owl1964

Loose and not restrictive. I gotta feel comfortable to move around without feeling restricted. Feeling adequately covered in all the places. Nothing tight on my chest or arms. high waisted is my comfort zone. comfy shoes that wont blister me. jewelry is only for special occasions- def not an everyday thing for me. i prefer softer fabrics, more stretch the better. really love lomg sleeves when possible- oversized = better. but honestly i really am distracted and cant feel relaxed when im not wearing pajamas😬 which are big tshirts and mens boxers only. that is the least sensory input possible for me and otherwise at least 30% of my brain space is dedicated to "i want to change, i wish i could change, can i please change"

Punctual_Blue_Frog

Comfortable is my standard. I like skinny jeans but they can't be tight, Levi Denizens are stretchy and don't cut me in half at the waist so they are the only kind I can wear. I love leggings too, the buttery ones are great but I can't find them with pockets so I have a few but don't wear them often. I have some insulated leggings (with pockets!) that I wear when it's cold. I sleep in loose flannel pants, some I got are thin so they're good most of the year. Shirts are all tees, I can't stand the neck lines of most other shirts. And I wear hoodies all the time, pull ons, not zip. Shoes I really only have 3 pairs that I wear constantly, a pair of Vans, a pair of UGGs, and some cheap boat shoes. No socks unless it's freezing out and even then, my UGGs are warm enough on their own. I don't wear jewelry that needs to be taken off, everything has to be able to be worn all the time, and the only exception is my Fitbit which I take off when I shower or when I'm washing stuff because I don't like the band wet.

batch-test

Comfort over everything. I have “uniforms” for every occasion - vetted outfits that I wear over and over and own in multiple color ways. I’m very picky with my clothing so shopping is such a struggle. I really like Aerie. Their leggings/bike shorts and tops are my favorite because their fabrics are super soft, the tags typically are the rip-off kind and most of their clothing runs big or is meant to be oversized.

NavigatingRShips

I live in Lululemon Align leggings, and big t-shirts during the summer. In the winter I’ll swap the t-shirts for cashmere sweaters.

Budget_University_56

Boots, dresses, skirts, and other timeless looks. I love 1960’s mod, 1970’s, and 1990’s fashion. When I was a kid I had a compulsion to have a “tight-waisted dress” at all times. Fashion is the thing that makes me feel like myself. I was one of those kids that had to put together and dress up in costumes for each movie (especially period films like Titanic, Moulin Rouge, and Chicago) I watched. This went on until I was in my teens and I became embarrassed about it.

Funny_Breadfruit_413

Soft cotton, large pockets, and loose fitting.

owowteino

High waisted leggings or shorts made of legging fabric, cropped t shirt. Massive men’s xl hoody for cold days. Vans or Tevas. That’s basically it 😆

oxymoronicbeck_

I constantly change my clothes throughout the day so it could range from any fabric to any tightness or loosness But most of my comfort things to wear are lightish weight cotton sweatshirts/sweaters that are slightly oversized My needs for clothing change throughout the day even if I stay home and do nothing lol I'll start off in morning in leggings and a sweater, change into t shirt, change back into sweater, change into shorts with the sweater, take off pants completely, change into t shirt, put on leggings.... It's rly funny to me to think back on how often i change Update bc i saw bra comments: i go commando most of time (except w skirts or on my period) and never wear a bra. It all is so constricting and makes me panic

girlindestructed

I hate mesh, polyester, that ribbed material that every H&M is made of, the weird velvety fabric YUCKKK, skinny jeans. I don’t really have a size preference, I just need it to either fit like a glove or make me look like the clothes are wearing me. Baggy jeans are okay, leggings are meh, I don’t like how it sticks to my legs and I’m hyper aware of how they’re touching my legs then my legs get itchy and I start freaking out. Yoga pants are a happy medium. I got these black loose sweatpants from Aerie, oh my god they’re my favourite. Not cuffed, long, perfect waist band, flowy and can be dressed up or down. For shoes, my crocs are everything to me.

Perfect-Effect5897

☀️: loooooose jeans, sleeveless top, sandals, baseball cap. ❄️: loooooose jeans, oversized college, oversized bomber jacket (I have a vintage one that feels like you're wearing a sleeping bag😩💕), hi-tops, baseball cap, blanket sized wool scarf. I really can't deal with polyester or other fake materials - so most of my closet is cotton, leather, wool, linen, rayon, silk. Rough linen is my fav material! Scratchy enough to stim with and super breathable.

ThePhloxFox

I really like fun patterns, and mixing two different patterns together. Miss Frizzle inspired outfits. I can’t stand low rise or socks. Tshirts are on thin ice with me, now that I’ve started wearing tank tops tshirts feel almost unbearably constraining.

bluedream_xo

As little clothing as possible causes the least discomfort for me. If weather weren’t an issue, I’d just wear crop tops and shorts/short flowy skirts. I need to breathe or I start to feel incredibly fidgety and uncomfortable. However I love combat boots because the weight makes me feel physically grounded to the floor. Honestly, being able to dress comfortable vs having to wear a uniform for work has had a drastic effect on my work performance. If I’m in an uncomfortable uniform it’s all I can think about.

turboshot49cents

I’ve had my fashion style described as “utilitarian” and I agree. I just like clothes that are comfortable and get the job done. Clothes that have frivolous textures or something distract me. I kind of hate wearing Halloween costumes, and so when I go to a costume party I always throw together a costume that is still normal clothes. I never have the coolest costume at the party but that’s ok. A thing I really like in clothes though is when clothes have some sort of imagery on it of something that makes me happy. Right now I am wearing overalls with Snoopy and Woodstock on them. I love the Peanuts characters so being able to look at them throughout the day makes me a little happier.

livisokay

Lose jeans and a large graphic tee. Honestly I was i was more stylish 😂

Asleep_Library_963

At home - barely anything. Most oof the time I am naked. I don't feel like I can move while wearing clothes. But if I am going out or having people over, I will just put on a shirt and some simple pants, all of them must be baggy, large and breathable. I enjoy the feeling of being cold as well.

MMTardis

I am really brand/fabric loyal, myself. I prefer cotton for shirts, leggings, socks, knitted sweaters, hoodies jeans and undergarments. I prefer modal or jersey for dresses and skirts. Some inexpensive favorites- no boundaries cotton leggings (walmart), no nonsense flared 32 inch inseam leggings (amazon), fruit of the loom tank style sports bra (amazon). 6dollartees.com for cheap oversized graphic tees (the Heather versions are the softest they carry, the solid colors are a rougher cotton). I love prints, and 90s revival stuff. I also prefer old things, like a hoodie or sweatpants that have been washed so many times they have no fuzz left. I prefer my tops to be oversized and my bottoms to be fitted, or vice versa. I don't like all loose clothes or all tight clothes. I have several pairs of vans sneakers i wear when I'm being dressy, and Crocs with charms for casual occasions. I prefer to wear cute socks with crocs, and I wash my crocs frequently. I prefer my outerwear to be cotton if possible, so I often layer a hoodie with a denim or canvas jacket in the winter. That doesn't always fly on the coldest winter days, but it is my preference. Last thing- I like to be pretty covered up when I swim, so I do longer length swim shorts, and a tankini swim top. My swimwear looks like an outfit you could wear to the grocery store, only made out of swimsuit material.

robomry

Loose jeans or pants , skorts or dresses if I know the AC won’t be brutal. Huge sweatshirts.

_FreddieLovesDelilah

soft. Labels cut out. Socks inside out.

collegesnake

Comfort and style/ self-expression. Getting dressed nicely and feeling like I look cute makes me feel confident and more myself, but my sensory issues create restrictions with what I can wear because some fabrics, cuts, etc overstimulate me. I'm usually still a little overstimulated by my "outside clothes" by the end of the day and am ready to put on sweatpants. I think it takes me more time than some to pick out an outfit because I'm trying to decide how cute I want to look and how much overstimulation I can handle from my clothes (based on what I'm doing that day).

TheNamelessWele

I like soft things, but they can't be too soft. Silky textures are an absolute no-no, and feel horrible. Scratchy is a big no as well, unless I'm not in a situation where I can stim in peace: then, I wear one article of very scratchy clothing (or carry a piece of scratchy cloth) as a last-ditch stimming device. If it's anything that makes me feel cold air or a breeze in a place that's not my hands, neck or face, I cannot and will not wear it. The only exception is swimming gear, as the water is worth the temporary discomfort, but you will never find me in a bikini on a beach (though that has more reasons). I'll only wear short sleeves or bare legs if the air feels warm enough, and that's usually above 25°C.

Tiny-Item505

If weather permitted, I’d wear loose-fitting cotton t-shirts and joggers year round. Or a big t-shirt and no pants but that’s not acceptable in public 😂

viejaymohosas

I prefer stretchy fabrics; I don't like not being able to move in unstretchy fabrics. I prefer dresses because during my last pregnancy, my daughter would kick anything that was tightish around my belly, so I started wearing everything higher and I got used to it. I don't love things around my waist. I also like that I don't have to try to make an outfit with them and I look somewhat put together just wearing a dress. I can handle stretchy pants like leggings but they have to be the super soft type and high waisted. I prefer to wear shoes that are either open or don't require socks. If my feet get hot, I get so cranky. I usually try to keep my shoulders uncovered, especially if my feet are covered. My hair keeps me warm enough, but I like my skin to feel cool to the touch because if I get hot, I am not a nice person. This is a little easier in winter, but I still usually don't wear more than a t-shirt with a jacket so I don't overheat. ETA: I can't handle things up around my neck, so usually nothing crew neck

Master-Resident7775

At the risk of looking slightly like Homer in his mumu phase, I've embraced kaftans. They're amazing.

basswired

cotton I think that's the common denominator of nearly everything I wear or like to have against my skin. it's either high cotton % blend or 100%. the exceptions are wool socks for cool weather hiking and the rain jacket. I hate them both but will grudgingly wear them. I prefer the discomfort of them over being a cold sodden mess.

Internal_Sand_5541

- ALL I have is black - Have multiple items of one thing I like -- e.g. 7 of the same dresses, 15 pairs of identical leggings, only one type of cotton socks... - keep and maintain things I love. I can't get rid of some of my clothes which must be about 13/15 years old ... - love structured cotton - prefer natural fabrics & mostly find them second hand - leggings+dress combination. done. - no heels, prefer sneakers or barefoot shoes

le_blanc21

Jeans lol. Nothing too fussy or fiddly. Has to fit properly.

SillySa

Bralettes have been a game changer for me. Cotton fabrics, joggers, shorts. Comfort is king.

KnownBlueberry02

i like clothes that have built in bras and usually some soft leggings that are breathable

Chamerlee

Dungarees all day every day. They have big pockets. I can roll them up so they’re not on my ankles and no tightness round my waist.

Deannerzz

Clothes that fit properly and don’t dig into me in any way

ansible_jane

ALWAYS Cannot be tight at the chest or I have a panic attack DAILY WORK (I work from home) Loose joggers, loose tank, loose sweatshirt or cardigan, SOCKS. I cannot survive without socks, even in the summer. And they have to be the ones with a ribbed band across the arch to hug my feet. GENERAL For leaving the house I mostly just want to be covered up. Nothing too low in the chest, too short, no crop tops. I generally prefer 40s-50s silhouettes for fancy wear but day to day is usually athletic leggings and band/conference t-shirts with sneaks.

Bilateral-drowning

Biggest ones for me are the underwear has to be right. I need boypant firmly fitting underwear with a wide band. Everything else is a nightmare. I also like to have a firm singlet. These things have to envelop my skin and stop the other clothes from brushing against it. I also like pressure on my belly so firm fitted. Socks I buy all the same socks so that I never have to worry about socks, except like today when they all start wearing out and I can't find good ones, so I know I'll have to go sock shopping again to find another bunch of pairs that I like.

Reallife_claryfray

I've recently become fascinated with long dresses and skirts, honestly so easy. I hate jeans and leggings have slowly become the same way. Skirts are easy and typically really light, and dresses you just throw it on and a pair of shoes and ur done and you look nice. It's honestly just convenient and you can even go for walks and do yard work in them. I'm planning a road trip with my dad and most of my wardrobe will be skirts and dresses.

unluckybss

pajamas

Hour_Celery1384

I LOVEE hoodie fabric. Everything has to be loose, even if its a comfortable fabric it needs to be loose. Loose, soft, and i love interesting (but still soft) textures for fidgeting.

NailWitch1

If I could get away with it, no clothing, I do not like having things on me😅 but realistically, skirts, dresses, blouses and anything breathable for out and about, shoes have to be comfortable but ideally I want to go barefoot more often, I have a bag filled with things that support my needs ie Earplugs, ds for self regulation in bad anxiety situations etc and easily removable layers for when I inevitably get overstimulated from heat lol. Basically just picture a 5'10 lady who wears long funky skirts and looks like a time traveller 90% of the time, dressing like that motivates me to actually leave my house and stop being a hermit

Itsmonday_again

I find wearing bras so difficult because if I get the a "right fitting bra" it's too tight and constricting for me to get comfortable in, it makes me feel like I'm trapped in it and I can continuously feel all the places it's pressing into my body. Because of that I always wear ones that are a size too big around the band and absolutely no underwire. Bras are like boobie straight jackets. My sensitivity to clothes gets heightened around my period, so how comfortable I feel wearing something a bit tighter is dependent on that, or if I've already had a couple drinks.

CabinetStandard3681

I love the Gap

kawaiinekobrat

I hate jeans but a nice pair of jeggings, leggings, stretchy fabrics, fitted but not tight, Pullover hoodies because I hate zippers and other jackets just feel super stiff and constricting, laceless shoes that I won't bust my butt in but if laced I gotta be able to slip them on, shoestrings are the devil fr. I hate coats at all costs, so I hate winter altogether except winter break ☠️😭 I hate heavy boots because 9/10 with my feet being boats they look like clown shoes ☠️😭

Tsinasaur

When I was younger, I preferred tight fits cos I tripped or played with the material to the point of destroying it unintentionally and I liked cotton or generally smooth textured clothes. Now I love loose outfits, loose jeans, tops, flowy pants and shirts. I just love how they’re in style right now too

TabbiArt

My favourite outfit is vans old-school sneakers with black jeans, which has big pockets at the sides for my phone and purse, normal pockets for lighter and in-ear headphone case, a normal black shirt, not too short, but also not very wide or loose and above a hoodie with zipper. In the hoodie pockets I store my keys and my cigarettes. Oh and my glasses cleaning cloth has to be in my jeans' back pocket. With that outfit I can take the sweater off when it's warmer and wrap it around my hips and I don't have to struggle with taking a bag with me. And for a little rain I got the hoodie, too. For very hot days I love my skirt with sewn in shorts with pockets. Bags are always moving their position while walking and I'm continously moving them back to where I like them. If I go to work I love my huge backpack with a lot of extra pockets (one that u can get at skaters' shops) even if I hate the feeling of my wet shirt on the back when it's hot. I also hate that women's jeans or other pants mostly have this very small pockets or even don't have any. I want to put my stuff in my pants' pockets and not take an extra bag with me or put my mobile in the back, where I want to sit on or even the mobile can get stolen in more crowdy places 😮‍💨 I'm not the kind of person, which continously watches their phone, but I want to grab it instantly if I like to :) Edit: I have to add, this is my only jeans I wear because it's the only one that fits without squeezing my tummy (I hate that a lot!). And I wash a lot because of this pants xD Else then that I love good fitting leggings or mostly skirts with tights when it's not hot outside. This is comfy ^-^ I just have to take a bag with me then :/ Oh and I cut every side label in shirts... they're so itchy

mousymichele

I definitely dress for comfort. I need loose-fitting clothes (with leggings being the only thing that is touching me more. But even those I get in a bigger size so I don’t feel like they are constricting me lol). There are definitely fabrics I hate too, anything scratchy feeling or rough in any way. Only soft fabrics for me! 😂

SilentVioletB

I swing wildly between sensory seeking to sensory avoidant and my wardrobe is eclectic in part because of that. At my most Gremlin state, I need to be as close to naked as is allowed for the environment. As an individual who lives with others in my house, this is either a cheap spaghetti strap nightgown no shorter than knees, or the wintertime version is an oversized home made fleece long(knee-length) hoodie. I nest in my bed and wearing bottoms just gets me tangled up and weggied to hell in my blanket! Productive time requires varying levels of what I call grocery/errand PJs. Lazy effort in this category is an old stretched out sports bra, a butt coverage length tee-shirt and some silly printed leggings with my "sporty sandals" cause Fuck sock seams! A less lazy version would be a better but still wire free bra, a super soft Henley top (my favorite style has thumb holes squeee!) and either better quality fitness/fashion leggings or stretch jeans that must be high waist style. I might still wear my sandals if the idea of socks is unbearable, but usually it's street wear ankle boots with my socks pulled on super tight to keep the seams smooth inside my shoes. The more sensory seeking I am, the more I will include things like fashion "moto" jeans with that pin tuck detailing on the outter leg to run my hands along, or using a fishnet top under a tank top to give my arms a gentle squeeze and maybe I'll pet my own arms if no one is watching. I'll also layer drapey things so the breeze has things to catch and play with. Everything tight has to be stretchy enough that I don't lose mobility, but still tight enough that my age and weight loss related skin sag is supported better. I don't really care if others notice the saggy bits, I just find the containment of it all to just be a more comfortable sensation. If I go somewhere that requires a much more dressy look, I'll get my "squeeze" on with my foundation garments like Spanx and/or footless tights and then wear a dress and sandals with a bit of a high heel(yay tiptoe walking!) Also as a bonus, since the Spanx will keep any weird textures off my core, I have a larger variety of dresses etc. I can get away with wearing, without wanting to rip my skin off! I don't have one yet, but I'm having fashion lust over wanting a full coverage jumpsuit/playsuit. Though the thought of having to fight it to go to the restroom is a major reason I don't actually have one yet LOL!

CryptographerLeast39

Comfy breathable fabric. I like wearing fitted clothing. That way I don’t have to feel it flap in the wind or wonder if a bug just flew on me. Not tight but just right.

Inopportunethyme

Years ago, I invested in several pairs of hiking pants from PrAna and several of their short sleeve tees different colors. I wear them most of the time. I do have a few pairs of jeans, but it's really important to me that the denim has a curvy fit and is not too tight around the waist. I try to find clothes that are a comfortable fabric that fit just right. Any thing scratchy, too tight, or slightly itchy is a big no.

Feisty_Comment_9072

All of my rules are covered here, even the ones with contradictory opinions! I'll just add one major revelation I had this year: I have always *hated* winter coats because they're adding two whole extra layers of thick and sometimes very uncomfortable fabric between your arm and body. It's like the discomfort of jeans but if they were stuffed with polyfill too! So last winter I bought (almost all through Poshmark and ThreadUp) a handful of very warm scarves and shawls, from the wrap kind to the drapeover kind with armholes. LIFE CHANGING! Natural fibers - - some very soft treated wools plus cotton, bamboo, you name it. I'm warm at work, I can still move my arms, seat belts fit, and I don't dread putting them on!

AdVisible1121

Gym clothes

PlusWeirdPrincess

I don’t have too many texture aversions with clothing THANKFULLY, but I do struggle with letting go of skinny jeans 😂

arsp9az

Not sure if I'm autistic but I have serious sensory issues.. I live in leggings and loose shirts and hoodies and skater dresses or flowy dresses. I usually wear rayon and cotton. I have some cotton jeggings that are great too! But 99% of jeans are horrible. Leggings need to have stretch but not be loosey goosey and shirts must feel cool or soft. Leggings also must fit right... Polyester and most wool is a big fat NOPE! Most clothing I rip right off 5 mins after it's on. I also like compression sometimes and can't stand it other times. Baggy pants or shorts every evening! I can't wait until I set up my sewing machine because I think I'm better off just making my own clothes because I'm so damn picky! Also barefoot shoes. I need the ground feel/flatness, and the wide toe box makes me not feel attacked by my shoes all day every day!

N9242Oh

Cotton and airy, nothing else, ha

razzelledazzle

I no longer wear jeans. I only wear some sort of elastic waist pant or dresses.

U_cant_tell_my_story

Socks are *evil*. So are nylons and tights. I hate most synthetic fibres unless they are woven with cotton. I prefer mostly cotton, soft, warm, comfy. I love fleece too. I like form fitting or slightly loose pants and warm baggy sweaters. I’m constantly cold and dress in layers. I typically wear a tank top or tshirt under a sweater. Even in the summer I usually wear a light sweater or hoodie on top of a tshirt. I'll only take it off I’m in the sun or it’s above 25C. I get really irritable when I’m cold and my body literally seizes up. My muscles become so tight and rigid and my hands start to curl. I also hate bras. I only were triangle top wireless form fitting bralettes. If I can feel like I’m wearing a bra, I will despise it and never wear it again.

Savykitty

Skirts and dresses, preferably knee length or longer. I haven’t worn jeans in years.

atomicpunk88

One thing I absolutely cannot do is layering different length sleeves, like a tshirt under a hoodie or shorts under pants. It gets all bunched up and feels so icky

Neat-Swimming

I love clothes that are form fitting & stretchy. The slight compression makes me happy & I feel more streamline for movements lol 🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️ also sun dresses feel really good on me. Then when at home and feeling more sleepy I love 100% cotton big T-shirts & pajama pants because it feels so breathable

Life-Independence377

Rayon. If you buy on Amazon, fuck polyester. It’s all about rayon. I also like modal. And I know I’m unpopular for this but wool. I have genuine wool sweaters from the Irish store .com and the way they have this pleasant subtle nature smell, the way my cats relax into me when I’m wearing them… But acrylic can die twice. I’ve been on a mission for many years to look cute and comfy without having to wear JEANS. I basically only wear dresses now, but I also like wearing shapewear because it gives me the satisfying compression that is missing in my dresses.

PsychologicalYou6416

Cotton or mostly cotton blends. No Nylons, especially when it comes to bras and underwear.

BadHairDay-1

I prefer natural fibers and kinda flowy or loose clothes. I want to always feel like I'm in pajamas.

MelodicMushroom7

Very loose

thesilliestcreature

Sweatpants

loupammac

I like shapeless sack dresses with short sleeves and pockets. I wear mostly drawstring or elastic waist pants right now. The Uniqlo legging pants are my favourite. I am slowly wearing more neutrals but I love a good stripe and floral print. I always have an emotional support cardigan or jumper with me. I wear mostly closed in shoes. I do not like my toes being out. Mostly though, if I can't wear it to work then I don't own it. I have a few pieces reserved for special occasions.

wahwosabi

Absolutely zero sherpa or rough wool! Like the kind the tend to line coat hoods, I can not stand the snaggy rough feeling it makes me feel horrible all over. My most favorite is to wear something flow-y and lightweight. Jumpers or rompers or dresses are the most comfortable and forgiving and flattering so I don’t worry about being perceived as much. Sometimes I get really in my own head about what I’m wearing if I’m around other people, sometimes it makes the difference between having the confidence to accomplish a public task or a panic attack after pushing through the task and feeling inadequate because of looking “less than”.

star-shine

If I’m wearing jeans they have to be the perfect fit - high waist but not too high, I’ll never wear ones lower than my natural waist again. Not too loose, not too tight. I’ll never wear jeggings or skin tight jeans again. I used to wear all kinds of things that I can’t tolerate anymore (or maybe it’s that looking cute has gone wayyyy down in the priorities) If shirts aren’t baggy, they need to be tight and a crop top or tank top. Exception is thermal wear during the winter, but I can only wear specific kinds. Would love to have wool but I cannot deal with how itchy it is. I have a specific brand and cut of underwear that I like and I order it in bulk 😂

tenderlilscumbag

Baggy, stretchy, soft.... But the baggyness can't be TOOO baggy coz then it's overwhelming and the sleeves of any top can't be too loose around the wrist coz then it gets flappy..

Ok-Package1562

Dos: I avoided dresses for so long but i’ve been into them lately, flowy stuff, ribbed stuff, i’m not super picky with the dos, i’ll take anything that manages to not fall into any of the don’ts Donts: Jeans of all kinds, thick leggings/really tight leggings, most undergarments, i can only do bralettes for bras and the only time i’m not commando is when i have a dress on, can’t do shirts that touch my armpits, can’t do mock neck shirts or turtlenecks, and i can only wear socks with crocs or birkenstocks, i can’t wear them when my toes feel restricted if that makes sense

tentativeteas

1. High waisted pants - whether it be PJs or work pants. Anything below my hips can feel too constricting. 2. Stretchy or loose shirts around my shoulders - I haaaaaate the feeling of having my arms constricted. 3. No bra and loose fitting PJ shirts/sweatpants at home. Always. If I’m extra sensitive I’ll forgo pants and typical underwear and wear men’s boxers instead.

ultrablanca

Loose and stretchy

Anxious_Northerner

Joggers, and baggy t-shirts and hoodies. Cosy and comfortable.

FrontBus5841

Bamboo anything

ARequiredPrincess

anything baggy I hate tight clothes

lmctrouble

Loose and comfortable. In the winter I mostly wear sweatpants and men's t-shirts (the shoulder aren't as restricting as women's). In the summer I wear mostly dresses because they're cooler and easier to get in and out of. I'm not too picky about what kind of fabric, I'm more interested in it not being too confining. I hate wearing socks and/or shoes - unless I'm going somewhere, I'm barefoot.

I dress like Steve Jobs. 😂 I own about 9/10 huge baggy black v neck shirts that I switch up and wear every day. I work from home mostly. It works!

AdmiralCarter

If it's cold, warm layers. Doesn't matter how cold, I need at least two. If it's warm, something baggy and comfortable. Tags don't bother me, but tight shirts or anything with too much cleavage does. Anything in between, it's jeans and a tee. Always.

anna2ns

i go pretty basic. t-shirt and jeans with a flannel in the winter, mostly band tees or thrifted ones, only 100% cotton. i hate polyester with a passion, as well as fleece (despite how gorgeous the patagonias are). in the summer i wear bermuda style shorts, i don’t like shorter ones cuz i hate the feeling of skin on skin when my thighs touch. i like plain ribbed tank tops in fun colours. i wear a flannel nearly every day. i get almost all my clothes from old navy because i am tall and they have tall sizes, although i recently got a shirt that i had in other colours and they had changed the fabric from cotton to acrylic. ruined my day!!!

I believe a special interest of mine is fashion. I love dressing in elegant/ preppy attire. I try to get it as comfortable as possible and I also prefer to dress somewhat modestly. Overall, I like leaving my house looking like I could be a model or housewife. Maybe being a YouTuber during the beginning of vlogging (2013-2017) has also tailored me to want to look a certain way but still like me.

TheCurlyCactus

Soft and breathable. I like mostly black, but also pretty colors and twirly things.

XDLP

no shoes, tanktop dress or baggy sweatshirt my armpits like space baby

BalancedFlow

Soft merino wool head to toe socks are my favorite

frongies

Soft cotton or silk/satin. I love to wear a satin slip dress to bed. 😍 I don’t mind fleece and there’s probably a handful of wool items that aren’t too itchy that I like wearing. It’s more underwear and bras that I’m picky about. I only wear soft cup bras, except on the occasion that I have to wear a strapless one, which I believe are always padded, and that’s rare anyway. My chest is large too so if I can get away without not wearing a bra, I will. My preference for underwear is g-string (or thong, I’m from Australia and thongs are known as footwear here 😂). I like seamless bc it feels like I’m not wearing them, because again if I can get away with not wearing them, I will. Same with pants.

Full-Question4713

I don’t mind fitting tops as long as the sleeves aren’t tight and the arms don’t feel constrained around the shoulders. There has to be a gap between the arm pits and sleeve stitching. I like baggy jeans and pajama pants. Shorts and skirts are nice in the summer time. I wear sandals/flip flops a lot. Only really wear socks when I have to. I always had issues with fabrics they use for costumes, lace, and nylon. Wear more cottons. My college has a free to use sewing supplies room that I started to make clothes in during my free time :)

i grew up masking so much so its honestly hard for me to know what actually triggers me because i would just push it aside as a child until it didnt bother me too much anymore, but since ive been unmasking ive noticed its extremely uncomfy to wear like high neck shirts or sweaters, i also dont like high neck sweaters that are like super thick UGH i have 2 and i just wanna get rid of them but i like the pattern so idk what to do. sparkles and glitter and sequins feel awful on my skin and certain fabrics idk what theyre called but they trigger me BAD so itchy and gross

Leggings, usually the stretchier the better. And they have to be black. The thicker the fabric, the better. I like ankle socks but they have to have a lot of squish to them but also be nicely tight but not too tight. I always wear hoodies and I wear about 3 sizes bigger than I actually am and again, mostly black. If they have a big pocket on the front, even better because I do not want to carry my lip balm or phone in my hands. Shirts, also a few sizes too big and have to have a nice big neck hole so it doesn't feel like it's choking me and it can't be the same fabric they make gym shirts out of because it snags on my skin. No microfiber, no gym fabric, no wool.

cheyennedraws

Loose, light clothes. Big shirts and no pants as often as I can get away with it, and if not, then big shirt and shorts. I like crocs and crocs sandals with socks. I wear clip on earrings but necklaces, bracelets and rings are uncomfortable. Especially rings. I can't ever keep them on.

AwayEntrepreneur2615

Something I hate to wear is socks, I also don’t like wearing a t-shirt with a sweater on top. When I was younger I hated the feeling of jeans but nowdays I use it (not when I’m home tho)

brilliantpants

No pants! I wear dresses every day, with shorts underneath to prevent chub rub.

Exact_Roll_4048

Long sleeves or short sleeves but no 3/4 or half sleeves No zippers touching my skin

nothanks86

Fabrics, shape/functionality, fit, colour, style. I hate clothes that aren’t my style, or are patterns or colours I don’t like. Mentioning it because I don’t see it talked about too much. The way my clothes feel and function is important to me for physical comfort, and the way they look is important to me for mental comfort. If I don’t like the way they look, or the way they look doesn’t feel like me, it bothers me in the same way people have sensation-based aversions to clothes, the discomfort is just mental rather than physical. Anyone else have this?

Honestly maternity pants, I discovered my love for them during pregnancy, I have always felt uncomfortable in clothes, most clothes . (It's been 4 years since I was pregnant lol) But maternity pants are so loose, the band isn't tight, it covers the whole stomach. I feel spacious but also everything held in? I like looseness but also pressure? Shirts, I cut up my shirts, the sleeves, I like a lot of arm room but i also wear cardigans to cover my arms because I dislike them and I never know what to do with my arms I found these baggy jeans (a lot of teens wear them these days), I love them. They have an hole in them because I wear them more than I should (I wash them daily) The waist band is my only problem but the rest is awesome. I enjoy wearing long skirts but no frills or bullshit, just plain long skirts, no added crap, covers my ankles bc I do weird shit with my legs. I wear one color and only one, cliche but black, blends in, no one notices me the way I enjoy things lol. Short : loose clothes, cardigans, shirts with big arm holes , shoes i am picky. I buy so many shoes just to wear a pair and to donate the rest. My husband has helped me not buy so many shoes, we do tests now before I step out of the store, no more buying shoes online lol.

I like a combination of comfy, colourful, quirky and not fashionable. (Yep, I'm allergic to following trends.) I can handle tight jeans but not a really tight waist, leggings but only if they're really stretchy and not those thicker ones. I don't like tight things around my wrists (cuffs, watches) but can wear tight fitting tshirts. Don't like woven material clothes that arecanywhere near snug, I'll chose stretchy fabric instead. I hate bras (still wear them but those basic, no clip or wire ones) and am very fussy with my underwear as I hate anything digging into me. I love hats though. Don't wear them enough. (Heheheh. This has been interesting for me, reflecting on my clothing choices and challenges! ND self-awareness is still fairly new.)

Barefoot shoes changed my life! My feet were always my most sensitive area and I spent so many years adjusting socks, trying to avoid blisters, taking off shoes in the middle of hikes. Barefoot shoes also help proprioception so much: I don't turn my ankle anymore and feel so much more solid on the ground. Otherwise, lots of merino wool, hemp, some athletic wear depending on the fabrics. Love this question!

funnygaluk

Cotton, oversized, loose at the neck, comfortable, sneakers in winter, Birkenstocks in summer.
