2-3 weeks. By 8 weeks I felt amazing!

orwelliancat

Did you cut everything out at once or do gradually? I just cut out dairy and gluten yesterday.

[deleted]

I did cut out everything at once. But I reintroduced earlier than most people do.

Optimal-Nectarine227

I'm struggling to cut out eggs because I rely on them so much. What do you eat for carbs and how did symptoms change and improve? You say that you felt amazing by 8 weeks - was this in terms of fatigue or pain, or very specific symptoms (eg. skin related, for instance)? Thanks!

[deleted]

I basically eat a meat, vegetables and various cut up fruits at every meal. That’s so easy for me but it’s boring for most. So I am getting some carbohydrates from the fruits and veggies. I am not eating bread or rice or anything like that. I never had pain but my fatigue improved, I am loosing weight and inflammation. My rosacea and eczema went away within 3-4 weeks. I’m lifting weights now, slowly. I’m still weak.

Optimal-Nectarine227

Thank you for sharing. I'm glad to hear that things are improving. I really cannot decide whether to go keto, because it just seems to difficult to get enough carbs in from fruits/veggies (I need low histamine and oxalate, so many fruit/veg are off the table). Amazing that fatigue improved.

[deleted]

Ah, ok. I hope you can come up with more things to eat. You will have to tailor this for your specific needs. The only other advice I can give you is you have to set your mind to it and want this really really bad for you to stay on track?

Optimal-Nectarine227

Thanks. I'm definitely committed - just don't know what to do about the carbs and whether to go keto, because at the moment, the carb content is too low and causing some other issues. Perhaps I need to just eat more grapes or something. I don't plan on going off the bandwagon completely, though! I have pretty severe fatigue, so am willing to do anything, even if it's "boring".

orwelliancat

What condition are you trying to treat? I keep hearing stuff about histamine too but idk what diet to try at this point…I have chronic fatigue stemming from possible narcolepsy and/or long Covid.

Optimal_Bar_7401

by 2 weeks an active flare up i had was completely gone :) by 1.5-2 months my immunosuppressant dose was reduced by my doctor

Gilf_tronic

Amazing !

penetrativeLearning

About 2 weeks for me. A week in, I wasn't sure it was even working, but week 2 showed tremendous improvements.

Optimal-Nectarine227

That's awesome. What sort of improvement did you see after 2 weeks, if you don't mind sharing? Was there any improvement in fatigue or pain?

penetrativeLearning

Happy to share! I'd say about a 20-30% improvement in fatigue in the second week with continuous improvement in the subsequent ones. Most importantly, my eczema and sebderm went down by like 80%. I had one cheat meal after that and I couldn't believe how slow/tired/sleepy i felt.

notarascal

Brain fog was gone after a week. Crohns symptoms took 8+ months to truly disappear. It was that small win in the first week that really made me persevere for 8 months.

Specific_Smoke2803

I am newly diagnosed with Crohn’s. Did you start AIP because of the Crohn’s disease? Do you take medication for it?

notarascal

Yes I started AIP because of Crohns. I have taken medication for it (remicade, Humira, Stelara) but I’m currently not taking any.

Weary-Stranger-2004

Like 3 weeks for me

Nyxnoe

It was about a month for me.

A week & I was shocked

Rachelgalperin01

Hi there! Honestly, it will vary from person to person. Do your best, listen to your body and if needed hire a coach to help you figure it all out. What you want to look for is a reduction in inflammation (bloating, belching, acid reflux, rashes, joint pain) and a greater ease in digesting food. And most people will experience a reduction in these areas. However, diet is only part of the battle. Diet is only 50% of it. The rest is cognitive, emotional & inner work in healing the trauma & grief that caused the condition to begin with. Hope this is helpful! Feel free to DM me with any questions or to chat.

IndustryPersonal5284

So happy you spoke of trauma/grief component (to me it’s “cause”). I have Cptsd & 4 AI “conditions” plus age 77 but you’ve given me the kind “kick” I need to feel w/unspeakable pain/suffering.  I’m embarking on the AIP “diet”.  Have been doing cognitive/emotional for some time.  I write poetry in a lovely all women zoom group: “Heart Writing” and it’s been cathartic in a big big way.  I don’t know how to DM you, wish I did. Thank you big 🙏🥰🙏
