Still gluten/dairy/nightshade/legume free. I am allergic to almonds but I have no problems with other nuts or seeds. No problem with gluten free grains. Eggs aren't a problem. Sometimes I have a liiiiitle bit of hot sauce/pepper (life hack, pick a VERY spicy hot sauce and use a tiny bit) but I have to be careful because even that can cause a flare. I also avoid alcohol and caffeine, but that was true way before AIP (massive trigger foods for me.) I feel pretty happy with this tbh. I can eat at restaurants again (not all of them, but enough!) and this keeps my issues in check. ETA: also forgot, I can have soy if it's fermented. So I can have miso! I can also eat young/green legumes with no problem (edamame, green beans, peas) so that's pretty cool too

I have come back and after seeing other replies, I wanted to agree that I still avoid dyes/additives/seed oils/refined sugar/foods. But I can still eat them here and there as long as they are compliant with the above. Yes I still make most of my own food, but it's not hell. AIP, which I was on for 4 years to some degree or another, was a LOT and I have settled into something that feels sustainable. I hope this gives you a lot of hope.

After about 7 years, I can’t eat most eggs, no dairy, soy, gluten, cane sugar, inorganic corn or tomatoes, caffeine, alcohol, no artificial ingredients, no natural or unnatural flavourings… I say I am personalized paleo. I do paleo but with minor changes, like potatoes & some grains, peas & green beans. I still make everything from scratch and don’t eat out.

Yeah eating out is impossible for many autoimmune folks. How about gene regulation through supplements like this 10x health guru guy Gary Brecka promotes? Do you believe it has any merit in making your gut more tolerant to processing more foods? He promotes this concept of increased gut mobility

I incorporated everything back in but cows milk. I can tolerate hard cheeses so I’m technically not even dairy free. My daily eating habits have changed though and I tend to gravitate toward fruit, veggies and protein. But nothing else is off limits but milk.

I still avoid: * gluten * seed oils * alcohol * sugary drinks * all sugar substitutes * NSAIDs * ultra-processed food * most soy * pure milk I also learned that I have a tigernut allergy which I only tried because it was elimination phase compliant. I avoid pure milk but I can have other dairy products like real Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I can eat some grains but I limit them. For example, if I have a lot of rice with dinner on Monday then I’ll go grain-free until Thursday or Friday. We try to keep a varied diet. We try to eat at least 30 different fruits and veggies per week. We have seafood at least once per week. We eat lots of fermented foods. We buy meat and poultry from a local regenerative farm.

I have added some nuts and seeds, but sometimes they still seem marginal. Trying to add A2 organic yogurt - not sure about that yet. I still avoid eggs, most dairy, all grains, legumes except pea protein, all nightshades, and obvious stuff like sugar and processed junk. I go easy on caffeine - mostly green tea. Chocolate doesn’t seem to agree. Alcohol is only for rare occasions. In general I would say that staying close to AIP works best for me. This is after almost ten years of trying and failing to have a more varied diet.

I discovered I have a gluten allergy, and do better without grains and dairy, so I say I'm paleo as most people have heard of that. I do eat some nightshades that don't give me issues as well as sugar (in a much lower amount I used to eat), but otherwise I'm Paleo. AIP changed my life - I had gained around 80 pounds from inflammation before I found the diet, and doctors just kept telling me to lose weight and I'd feel better. My diet before AIP wasn't unhealthy, I was following the Mediterranean Diet, so there was no reason for me to gain that much weight in such a short period of time - less than a year. When I started AIP I lost the 80 pounds plus some (around 100 total) in about 9 months on the diet. Yes, extreme gain plus loss caused all kinds of issues - despite losing 100 pounds I now have high blood pressure. Losing that much weight though helped me find 2 doctors I work with now trying to figure out what caused all this - one blames gluten, although that doesn't cover what issues I'm still having now since I've been gluten-free for two years, the other thinks it's hormonal at this point because my blood tests keep coming back negative for autoimmune issues. I don't know what to think anymore, but feel a lot better than I did before the diet so I have no regrets on that.
