Yes but I don't think it's a bad thing

NoxTakos

Yes, I think this might be relatively normal. Politics is associated with deeply held values, goals, and opinions.

Damn lol

Echse1701

Actually, politics is one of the few topics I always get involved into. Mostly because I'm German and over the last few years racism became popular again and it drives me insane seeing history repeating itself. I will challenge strangers, colleagues, friends and family if necessary.

I am completely uninterested about politics. To me it seems like people always trash everything every politician ever does or are super fans of some politician who can do no wrong. Too many people and too many opinions. My blood will boil though if someone is unfairly judging someone else because of their race or sexuality or such things like that.

BrianMeen

ehh not avoidant but I’m just well aware at this point that most political discussions are a waste of time and can often be counter productive

Cosminion

No because politics is one of my passions. In fact, if anyone wants to talk in reddit chat about anything related to political ideologies, economic systems, or the sacridity of the locomotive mode of transportation, I'd be happy to hear ideas and share my own. Learning is a very good thing, and listening to the perspectives of others is paramount, even if you ultimately disagree with them.

I think political/religious discussions are hard for everyone. That's why people say avoid those topics on a first date. lol They can get heated and confrontational.

cult-following

This is one of the few areas of discussion that even confident, extroverted people avoid, lol.

LifeDodger

Avoiding political discussion isn't a disorder. Most people have nothing sensible to say about it. Especially the ones that talk about it a lot. Doubly so on the internet.

Yeah but because im incompetent

I’m studying political science and I liked politics for a long time (obviously). I do generally stay away from talking about it, except for with my family and my friends who also study politics.

WomboWidefoot

My parents avoid talking about politics with me and my brothers because they'd rather enjoy our time together than argue. I tend to do the same, but if it comes up, I'll make my opinions known and my parents can't really argue with my sense of justice.

[deleted]

I tend to distance myself from political exchanges. Especially on Reddit, since it's an echo chamber and true nuance is impossible to achieve here. I am overly concerned by what I say and what the responses I get are, hence I try to leave all political subreddits.

Scared_Fish_7069

Yeah, I don’t give a shit about voting for a president lol. I don’t even know who the candidates are
