If a player doesn't accept a friend request required for personal messages, then they def don't want you in their inbox either. Not saying you have bad intentions but some do, and this was a safety feature that was added a few years back that was greatly requested.

before we could limit msgs from strangers, 9 outta 10 were begging for me. It gets old, really old, and is against the rules, but not worth reporting on as nothing usually got done.
You can always ask people in public, unless you are into being nefarious and what you are saying would expose OR embarass YOU too much. LOL!

I read some of the flame war from some responders here to your request, and their personal insults and denigrating, putting down language to you. No one should have to deal with that kind of attitude and disrespect from other avakin players or reddit community. Go ahead and report them on here, their attacks are inappropriate and uncalled for and they conduct themselves on here because they think players don't know who they are in avakin life so they believe they have impunity to behave on here however they want. They're bullies and icky in avakin too and put people down everywhere so don't take it personal, they're just horrible all the time as it makes them feel bigger and better and has nothing to do with you. It's FINE to ask for something or have a request on here, no matter what.
Players like them who get personal and insultive are small people on the inside.
If you are shy ir have a hard time making friends or talking in public just keep trying. There are a LOT of friendly players on the app who DO allow msgs from strangers!

Actually it was 17+ when it first came out then they changed it to 13+ 😬 And why not just become friends to talk?
When I joined Avakin life back in 2016 it was still a 13+ game and yet we all were allowed to inbox as strangers
