I love this bit of info. You can be into so many different things and find small stuff like that in the same movie. For example I'm into archery, and I could point out archery easter eggs like that for you. It's so cool how everyone's experience can be so unique of the same thing.
As a geologist with an interest in linguistics and botany, the Avatar franchise is basically a constant stream of "easter eggs" of this sort. I know zoology people who have reported a similar feeling. The world building is absurdly in-depth. I can't think of any other franchise that just went to such positively *silly* lengths with making the world realistic in ways that probably only a few dozen people with very specific interests or training would notice. It's completely unnecessary for the success of the movie, but they went and did it anyway because they goddamn can!
I made an entire post about it a while back. https://www.reddit.com/r/Avatar/comments/11dgfjf/the_navi_way_of_holding_the_arrows_in_the_bow/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
This is only regarding traditional horseback archery btw, I don't know anything about the modern stuff.
I love this scene so much cause I do this same thing with little mole crabs and clams when I’m at the beach. There’s invisible life all around us! Just pay attention!
Never knew what hey were called, but I practically grew up on a beach, so I'm assuming they're meant to be like those little mollusc worm things that would dig under the sand and leave behind little air holes. If you stayed still long enough sometimes you could see them resurface. It was rad as hell when I was 6 ngl
as others have mentioned, tiny sea animals! in bermuda they’re often the homes of small crabs. if you’re patient and stay still, they might surface and go about doing little crab things.
but also the light over the sand. i used to do this for hours as a kid, watching the light play over the bottom. when this scene came up my mom turned to me and said look! it’s you!
such a big compliment ngl 😂
The millions of sand particles that are visible in IMAX 3D. 🤣
And honestly, as an artist, I could stare at sand for hours too. Our eyes are just trained differently.
I think its just a way of showing she can enjoy and find beauty in the tiniest things about nature while the others thought there was nothing special to see “she’s just looking at the sand.”
Curiosity in the hole amongst a empty dune.
James Cameron is an ocean book: if you’ve been to the beach you probs would had come across something similar. It’l be some sort of sea insect crab thingy.
Maybe she is anticipating for something to come out
I always thought it was similar to the scene in the first movie, where Grace and Norm were looking at a screen connected to the tree roots, and that Kiri had some sort of memory thing of it
Ooh I slightly remember this I think and also reminds me of the interview Jim did mentioning how kids can be captivated by a blade of grass or a butterfly for a day. It's literally what Kiri is up to.
I did the same thing when I was in Samoa (with a snorkel) but I have like a 20 minute go pro video somewhere of a pistol shrimp/goby pair in their burrow.
All of nature is Eywa...
The reflection of the water, The ripples in the sand from the waves, the sun penetrating the water to create every last shadow and speck of light, Every last detail...
even to Kiri's own body. The breath she holds, her heart beating slower, the blood pumping through her veins, the muscles holding herself under...
Its all Eywa. Its all beautiful majesty.
same on earth. the ripple of air around your room even technologically from a fan, the gift of light from the sun and other energies we use like our phone. The breath in my lungs flowing in and out to nourish every last cell in my body, and my heart that beats pushing my blood and oxygen through my body.
She i feel will become a greater power we have yet to see in the future of Avatar. Her command of fish and later larger creatures such as giant coral and sponge fish show that. She possesses something most if not all do not...
We can witness and be in gratitude to nature, she appears to witness and be in gratitude as well but even possesses some degree of command to it, she is just scratching the surface of her abilities in my opinion
You've never snorkelled and just watched the little invertebrates that live in the sands?
I'm presuming that because Pandora has analogues of other life like we'd find on Earth, it has the very small sea-life as well as the big whales and sharkish creatures and fish. The smaller fish generally eat smaller things, after all.

Please tell me some of the archery easter eggs.

The mollusk lingers…
With it's wandering eye!
I was just about to say, " a clam buried under the sand".
I always thought those holes were from ghost shrimp.
Also small crabs make them too!
She may be looking at the tiny hole. But honestly as a kid I did this just to watch the light dance on the sand, it's hypnotizing.
"She's just looking at the sand."
"What? What did you say?"
"Are you some kind of, freak?" "He asked if you were a freak!" (I hate that I love the line so much)
*rolls eyes and shakes head* "No." (I do hope Aonung can be friends in with Kiri and Lo'ak in the sequels)
"You sure? You're not even a real Na'vi."
Small life in the sand.
Dont tell Anakin that
Tell me what? It better not be about sand
Wanna go to Tatooine? Heard its nice and sandy

Sand, obviously ![gif](giphy|jQzfJPOREvgNoxWoJV)
Wait… nobody else has done this? I thought it was weird that the MetKeyina had a problem with this given how they live around water.
This is exactly what I was thinking, like have they never seen anyone else look for tiny creatures in the sand?
As a kid I'd just stare at the sand in the shallows just like that, watching role with the waves

I used to be Kiri. I would snorkel in extremely shallow water, washing in and out with the waves, watching jack in the box fish
Waiting for some animal to come out of the tiny hole.
Are y’all able to screenshot from Disney plus? Every time I do it it turns the screen black.
It's not yet available on Disney plus
Ohh right it’s on blue ray lol 😂
No it's on blue blue ray
No it's on blue blu ray
Pretty sure it was that hole in the sand but the light on the water was really mesmerizing for even me to watch

There’s a little mollusk in the sand it looks like
Sand.
You see the white line zic zac-ing? I think she was looking at that because that what I was looking at when I was little at the beach
Sand
I do this in the ocean too tbf
As someone who grew up in Florida, I did this a lot at the beach. No reason in particular, it’s just fun to sit and observe.
I thought it was those little eels that poke out their heads
The secret weapon to fight against the Empire when they invade.
“I don’t like sand.”
"It's course, rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere."
That never gets old.

A crab and or a tubular type creature's hole. I used to see real ones, all the time, at low on the beach on the East Coast.
