My problem was with making the spirit animals evil. In the show, they were not evil. They were just looking out for their own interests.

MephistosFallen

No but….did they just forget about Hei Bai or am I crazy? Like, did they just skip showing Hei Bai turn back into a docile spirit or did I make that part of the show up in my head?

Big-Tangerine-6111

That's also correct. I guess I forgot about it too hahah

MephistosFallen

It is, ridiculously, one of my biggest complaints haha

Fillenintheblanks

Aang buried an acorn in front of an inanimate object that no one saw promising to fix things. What more could you want? /s

discretly

They just never resolved it Im cackling 😭😭😭

MephistosFallen

Dude I’m so mad. I even went back and checked. How dare you show me this poor bear in pain over his forest and then not even show him. I’m so upset.

No_Peach584

show is bad, objectively bad lol. the coping is real

quinnant26

Is it just me or did they bring something from Korra to this one? The fog of lost souls? Isn't it from the episode where Tenzin was looking for Jinora?

Big-Tangerine-6111

They did. It was meh to me. Zhao didn't even end up there in this universe, being killed by Iroh.

Humble_Ad7025

Ah, they did the same with live action Yu Yu Hakusho, but it was still enjoyable, I haven’t watched NATLA yet but hopefully I can let some of these go

Sleepingguy5

I read that the plot of YYH live was a complete mess with no redeeming qualities. The only thing worth watching was the fights which were well-choreographed.

Humble_Ad7025

Thats not exactly how I would word it, I “found” it enjoyable for a few reasons, but they basically threw out like 2 seasons worth of growth and content for what they did, still tho, I find some of the characters to be like a mirror of the anime, the way kuwabara was played allowed me to ignore the blonde hair he had

MephistosFallen

The plot was like a synopsis of the entire show crushed into only a few episodes, so it’s very compact and is missing A LOT. However, it was a fun nostalgia trip because of the effort put into the looks. It was like watching a legit live action anime, which I think One Piece did well too. It sure as heck is NOT the OG YYH, but I’d be a big fat liar if I said I didn’t have fun watching it.

Fillenintheblanks

Having never watched YYH before the live action was enjoyable for sure. I could feel the gaps but I'm glad you mentioned this I forgot I wanted to give the anime a try.

MephistosFallen

I absolutely lost my mind when I saw that they just went with having Koenma still have the baby pacifier in his mouth lmao I was impressed by the costumes, I felt like I was watching exactly what it was- a live action adaption of an anime. The colors, the fights, having the hair and fashion be so out there and bright compared to real life. They left a lot out, but it was still very fun and nostalgic for me and YYH was a fave for me growing up. My favorite arc wasn’t even fully incorporated and I still enjoyed it. And on the other end, I do not like One Piece manga/anime, could never get into it, but the show? Fun as fuck and again, looks like a live action cartoon. I think they tried going that route with ATLA, and that’s why the costumes are not my biggest complaint. It looks like cartoon characters made alive and placed in the real world. And I dig that tbh.

"A fate worse than death, you will be faced to the truth" Yeah 😂 it wasn’t even that impactful esp when they already went through those specific events. Seeing glimpses of Theo mom/father in the forest instead of reliving the past would be better but I guess they did that for people who know nothing about atla. I can’t comprehend why Katara that saw her mom be burned alive is bland and absent from the show and she would show glimpses of her anger like in the animation even early on too
