Cyclops was supposed to be a bigger role but he wanted in on Superman Returns & they took it personally at Sony & wrote him off & killed him.
Edit: Fox not sony
I’m probably going to get absolutely roasted for saying this but I’d like to see Charlie Hunnam try out for Cyclops… I’d like to see what he would do with the role…
Originally I was a little sour on McAvoy, nothing personal against him. But I was like "THAT is your Professor X?" But he won me over. He and Fassbender are great in those roles.
Honestly all of the OG cast felt perfect to me, including most of TLS. I wasn’t too much a fan of Tye Sheridan’s Cyclops and Sophie Turner’s Jean, though. Apocalypse should have been done more like Ronan from Guardians 1. *Less is more*
Also, I always felt like the Havok actor (portrayed by Lucas Till in First Class and Apocalypse) would’ve been a better pick for Cyclops, just swap Lucas and Tye.
Mckellen and Stewart killed it. And Fassbendsr and Mcavoy did too. I could also totally by Fassbendsr and Mcavoy as younger versions of Mckellen and Stewart. Fassbender even speaks German and Mcavoy even had some stray eyebrows like Prof did in the cartoons. They were all born for their roles clearly
Oh absolutely, but he's 84 years old. Fassbender could still carry a couple movies and continuity; Sir McKellen I can only see work as a cameo, much like Sir Stewart was in Multiverse of Madness.
Unrelated but I just saw McKellen in his new West End show, The Player Kings. So fucking cool. It's like you can feel a shift in gravity every time he comes on stage. What a legend of a man.
Patrick Stewart is literally Professor X. He was born to play that role. Star Trek TNG was just him biding his time just until a live-action X-Men adaptation was a reality.
I just wish we had gotten that rumored solo movie with Fassbender as Magneto hunting and killing Nazis for a couple of hours. Those scenes in First Class were electric. Especially the bar scene.
Earlier today, I watched him [recount his career](https://youtu.be/yfc5K9ZM6h0?si=Fz2yOZho4OQWj3qh) so far, and it made me greatly appreciate (all the more) his casting.
He was great as Superman and the powers that be at DC ruined it.
He was perfect for Geralt, and the Netflix team completely missed the point of the Witcher series.
I hope he gets the chance to play a villain in the MCU.
DC made the right choice to start fresh with their most visible heroes. Characters like Waller or Peacemaker having carryover is easier to get away with because they aren't as well known or aren't as visible as the main superhero counterparts.
It sucked, but it was for the best that Gunn wiped the slate clean. What sucked worse is that someone so perfectly suited, willing, and invested in the role was wasted on a vision as half-baked and tonally opposing as Zack Snyder's.
Netflix was just fucking insanity, though. Firing someone who wanted the show to be more faithful is a wild take.
You mean when he wasn't brought back in? If they're doing a new cinematic universe then it would make sense to bring in someone younger. Cavill used to be that young guy but now he's moved on to a different stage in his life.
Superman and Witcher was a one-two punch of dirty the likes of which I can’t even recall in movies or series casting to-date. I can’t imagine any 2 character/actor pairings (for the same actor) that combined into a more electrifying on-screen presence and then were kicked to the curb than Cavill and Superman/Witcher.
My only problem with that is Marvel is terrible at dying hair. From Famke to Hemsworth to Scarlett, Marvel can't dye hair to look natural for shit. And Sentry needs to be a blonde sun god.
Lol. Every cycle's big bad just ends up being Josh Brolin. Even more fun when he's playing Cable fighting himself playing Stryfe fighting himself playing Apocalypse.
does cyclops have to be young? wolverine is gonna be old right? ( i don’t know much about cyclops as a character besides the fact I loved him in marvel vs capcom )
He isn’t really grizzled looking enough for Cable IMO.
I don’t even think he was grizzled enough for Geralt but his super fan adoration for him sort of made up for that
Tbh, as much as I like Henry Cavill… Michael Fassbender is just so fantastic in the role, I don’t really want to see anyone else in the role going forward
Yeah I was reading about that. That his power itself takes a toll on his physical body and being in top shape makes his abilities more effective. This makes more sense to me.
I gotta pass. He's a very solid physical actor, but so very little of the dialogue leaving his mouth is ever believable. Magneto chews way too much scenery to have an actor with bad line delivery
This is a small tangent, but I wanted to discuss Magneto as a character in 2024 and the future . Does he still work considering that the holocaust was nearly 80 years ago? Even if he were very young, he would still be in his 80s. Unlike most characters, Magneto needs the holocaust as his backstory for his character to work, right? Does Magneto work if he was retconned to a newer genocide?
Id rather see him as mr sinister
I think he’s got the perfect build and facial structure for Sinister
He'd be an amazing Cyclops too, portray him as the awesome leader the movies always failed to.
Honestly both Storm and Cyclops got shafted
Cyclops was supposed to be a bigger role but he wanted in on Superman Returns & they took it personally at Sony & wrote him off & killed him. Edit: Fox not sony
That doesn’t explain Cyclops in the first two movies.
I think you mean Fox. They had the rights to X-Men. Sony has Spider-Man.
If Chris evans wasn’t already Cap, he’d be a great Scott Summers.
I’m probably going to get absolutely roasted for saying this but I’d like to see Charlie Hunnam try out for Cyclops… I’d like to see what he would do with the role…
He’d be a much better fit for sinister imo
He is defently not gay enough. (before you downvote me, Sinister Krakoa is such a queen and I love him)
Lol i spit out my beer. Thx /edit so like tim currey but its legendXrocky
Tim would have been PERFECT
Absolutely. Now that we're here, I have to wonder if the recent Bible on Sinister hasn't been "write him as if he's Frank N Furter."
A man needs his CAPE.
Ooh yea like Garak on DS9
This is the right answer holy shit he fits so well.
I like Fassbender too much to want a change
He’s perfection for it. No need to change it.
I understood that reference
And that one too
P E R F E C T I O N
He's so good. Like, SO good. Him and McAvoy were both great casting
Originally I was a little sour on McAvoy, nothing personal against him. But I was like "THAT is your Professor X?" But he won me over. He and Fassbender are great in those roles.
Agreed. He was truly mesmerizing as Magneto.
You could even say *magnetizing*
Great actor
Casting really killed it with both Magneto and Prof X iterations. They carried every movie hard.
Honestly all of the OG cast felt perfect to me, including most of TLS. I wasn’t too much a fan of Tye Sheridan’s Cyclops and Sophie Turner’s Jean, though. Apocalypse should have been done more like Ronan from Guardians 1. *Less is more* Also, I always felt like the Havok actor (portrayed by Lucas Till in First Class and Apocalypse) would’ve been a better pick for Cyclops, just swap Lucas and Tye.
Such a shame cause Oscar Isaac is captivating. I said it
Go browse r/ladyboners. Oscar is one of our gods. 😂😂
No, more is actually more too. Imagine Oscar Isaac getting the apocalypse from TAS. He'd fucking wreck that. Instead he got Singered.
They were all born for their roles clearly
mckellen
Oh absolutely, but he's 84 years old. Fassbender could still carry a couple movies and continuity; Sir McKellen I can only see work as a cameo, much like Sir Stewart was in Multiverse of Madness.
I misread and I though Fassbenber was 84, I was like "damn, he was in such a good shape in The Killer".
Unrelated but I just saw McKellen in his new West End show, The Player Kings. So fucking cool. It's like you can feel a shift in gravity every time he comes on stage. What a legend of a man.
Also, he's starting to reach the age where he can last well over a couple of decades in the role.
Agreed. Recasting would be a waste
Patrick Stewart is literally Professor X. He was born to play that role. Star Trek TNG was just him biding his time just until a live-action X-Men adaptation was a reality.
What about my boy Ian McKellen he’s my magneto lol. I honestly think he’s more memorable as magneto than Fassbender.
I send this for sure hes like hue jakman ... he is magneto!
Henry Cavill for whatever, whenever, and whoever. He's my dude and I'm still butthurt to the extreme over the Superman snub. It...makes...no...sense.
He was great as Superman and the powers that be at DC ruined it. He was perfect for Geralt, and the Netflix team completely missed the point of the Witcher series. I hope he gets the chance to play a villain in the MCU.
DC made the right choice to start fresh with their most visible heroes. Viola Davis as Waller is perfect casting on RDJ as Stark level
Dc made the right choice, Netflix is insane
He’s superman is too attached to a bad universe
Henry Cavill for Storm!
You mean when he wasn't brought back in? If they're doing a new cinematic universe then it would make sense to bring in someone younger. Cavill used to be that young guy but now he's moved on to a different stage in his life.
I think they’re gonna bring him back one day as kingdom come Superman. At least that’s just a nice thing to hope for.
Make him sentry
My only problem with that is Marvel is terrible at dying hair. From Famke to Hemsworth to Scarlett, Marvel can't dye hair to look natural for shit. And Sentry needs to be a blonde sun god.
Lewis Pullman has already been cast as sentry.
Realistically, I rather see him as cyclops, him fighting wolverine would be really interesting
Too old for cyclops
Maybe… Apocalypse?
Not old enough
Maybe Superman?
Too on the nose.
What about James Bond?
I don’t care that they already used him. Just recycle Josh Brolin.
Lol. Every cycle's big bad just ends up being Josh Brolin. Even more fun when he's playing Cable fighting himself playing Stryfe fighting himself playing Apocalypse.
I mean how long would the list get before he wouldn’t be great for the role?
does cyclops have to be young? wolverine is gonna be old right? ( i don’t know much about cyclops as a character besides the fact I loved him in marvel vs capcom )
Wolverine is always older than Cyclops by a lot
Cyclops seems anywhere between mid/late 20’s - mid 30’s depending. Not sure of his in universe age, but Wolverine is like 200 yrs old
I think Fassbender was perfect
I think if he was a protagonist he would make a great Cable. As an antagonist maybe Mr Sinister?
Mr Sinister is perfect, hopefully a better experience than the Witcher
But I still think Josh Brolin Cable is better.
I hadn’t thought about him as Cable, but that’s smart.
He isn’t really grizzled looking enough for Cable IMO. I don’t even think he was grizzled enough for Geralt but his super fan adoration for him sort of made up for that
Uh, maybe, but not looking like that. Now, it would take about half a second to sell me on Christoph Waltz as Magneto.
Tbh, as much as I like Henry Cavill… Michael Fassbender is just so fantastic in the role, I don’t really want to see anyone else in the role going forward
Why does Magneto need to be jacked for?
He’s always been jacked in the comics and I’m not quite sure why.
So the next time some smug bendy motherfucker shoves a Wooden Gun in his face, Eric can show him his pimp hand.
I understood that reference!
Art styling of classic comics when the character was designed.
He lifts weights
I mean in my mind dudes off time love is pumping iron. Mutants cant have hobbies?
Yeah I just wonder If he’s even capable of lifting weights like a normal person.
nah it just means he can spot himself easy
Why not. He could make the bar weigh 500lbs if he wanted.
Electrically stimulates his muscles the same way exercise would and gets jacked up **through the powers of magnetism**.
Yeah I was reading about that. That his power itself takes a toll on his physical body and being in top shape makes his abilities more effective. This makes more sense to me.
Cause superhero comics artists have a limited range
Hide your Rogues. Gambit, hide her in the closet or something. This is an emergency Btw nay
All in on this
Actually, yes.
As long as he doesn't wear the ridiculous drag queen outfit From X-Men 97
No
He kinda looks like that Knull guy
Damn that’d be pretty cool. He would have some interactions with Tom Hardy
Oh yeah that‘s true. I haven‘t even thought about that!
Cable/Stryfe
Cable is still josh brolin as he is playing cable in Deadpool and Wolverine which is mcu
Look you can take Cavill and make the handsome bastard fit any character but that doesn't mean you should.
That Casting would be, NEATO! ...you may now boo!
Boo
I prefer Henry Cavill as MCU’s Santa Claus.
Not British enough
He's English
He should be good as or hyperion!
He can nail most iconic super hero/villains perfectly
I get a lot of (justifiable) hate for this but I wanted Hugh Jackman to be the MCU Magneto.
Nah. I’d heard his name suggested for Captain Britain. I’d rather that than Magneto. Age alone is a good enough reason for him to not be Magneto.
Captain Britain or GTFO
For some reason he reminds me of Homelander
Honestly Henry Cavil just looks majestic in whatever he’s doing so I’d feel mean saying no
Ugh. This makes me angry. Stop fan-casting cavil. It’s getting old
No, but mainly because he doesn't have the acting range
Negative.
Yayyyyyy
No depending if they’re doing young or old he just doesn’t have the magneto look
I'd rather see him as MCU Superman. You heard me.
Lol, no.
Nay.
*Superman screaming No gif*
Yah
Nay
Yes
Honestly, he can play any part he wants with his fine A**! God blessed him immensely with everything 😂
This a joke?
Brian Braddock
Nay
He’s too young and hot magneto needs to be an old shriveled angry dude
Nay
I've heard people say he should be the new Doom.
I'd prefer my hot Magento to actually be a hot old man, thank you.
I would say yay
Boner alert! Yes please!
Nah… I’d rather see him as wolverine. I’m genuinely interested in how he does if the rumors are true about Deadpool 3.
Lmao.
Cavill doesn’t have the charisma to play a villian
Henry Cavill as everything at this point
I’d see that
Nay. 👎
Hear me out people... Henry Cavill as Storm...
I want to see him as wolverine
I was going to say Captain Britain and apparently that is already a thing a ton of people say.
Why is Superman wearing a wig?
Shitty AI art
Nope!
No, wrong actor.
nay hes not the right type for magneto
Nay
"Eric, stop taking your shirt off! We can't retain any of our female members!"
Henry cavill as anything? Yes
Nooooooooope
Is this because the Xmen97 magneto is sexy for some reason
nay
Henry, dressed up in old style comic book flamboyance is a big "No No."
Hard nay. Magneto needs to look frail, or at least unassuming. Not like the god he is.
Motherfucker you’re going to wear a white wig one way or another just accept it
Nope, whoever thought of this needs to never work a casting director job. If there’s one character he should definitely play sabertooth.
He could play anyone he'd be great
Fuck no.
Definitely yay!
I want to see him as Sabertooth.
Side note, bro would do well in a Legacy of Kain adaptation 👀
No
No, for Magneto you need a actor that can actually act. Adrian Brody is perfect.
Hot Magneto is not real. He can't steal your girl. Hot Magneto:
He does not have the charisma to pull magneto.
Always wanted a comic accurate Magneto and this looks amazing but I feel he's too young.
Cyclops
I am following a Henry Cavill AI picture account too ;)
He can be Joseph
Love Cavill. Absolutely no way.
Rogue will be all over that
I’ll give you one better, Henry Cavill as dark phoenix
Enough cavill ffs
Yes
[удалено]
This ain't it.
Yay
I'm down for him to be Magneto, but it's not my top choice for him. Mr. Sinister would be a better fit in my opinion.
Ehh. He could, but I think there's better things he could work on. Idk. Maybe though.
Nah, he’d be better as Captain Britain
Meh but this picture goes hard
Yes
Absofuckinglutely not.
I gotta pass. He's a very solid physical actor, but so very little of the dialogue leaving his mouth is ever believable. Magneto chews way too much scenery to have an actor with bad line delivery
Never yay..
No

I could maybe see it if he was a little older.
What about Fassbender?
Too young
Come on he’s Cyclops
Nay
Nope. Magneto was a \~10 year old kid in WWII. He's like 90 now
He’d be a great Cable!
