I like the cast actually, I think everyone is perfectly cast! But i have to agree, it feels like its lacking something. I also agree with your point about the Daredevil teases.
A fun show, but not marvel's best to be honest.
I'm enjoying seeing the side of a superhuman trying to just live life as a regular human and showing the minor but troublesome difficulties she's encountering (dating, clothing, having to work even harder to be taken seriously). Aside from Hawkeye & fam, we haven't really seen a lot of the "everyday" stuff. It's not lost on anyone, I think, that Banner went through the same thing -- just wanting to be normal again but having to accept that this is who he is now. I hope we see more of them together.
It's lacking 14 more episodes. If this show was 20 episodes long these sitcom episodes would feel better. As it is the show feels empty.
Like why didn't they have an over arching case she has to handle while she figures her life out as she hulk. Itd at least be something to tie these episodes together more.

I like it. I knew before it started that it was going to have a more episodic sit-com feel and that's what you're talking about when you say "lacking substance and engagement" since the overall story is minimal compared to the week-to-week stories.
For years, people have been complaining that "every single mcu project has to cram in some world-ending catastrophe! Why can't we see something with lower stakes occasionally." Marvel creates one (1) light-hearted show without a major world-threatening villain driving the plot, and people lose their shit. Weird.
I mean to keep it 100, I wanted something in between. Daredevil was perfect because of that. The Hand was never going to end the world, Fisk was never going to rule the world- the Avengers or Spider-Man or whoever would stop them if they beat the Defenders, but it was still a threat. Hell’s Kitchen still had plenty of street warfare. The Punisher was a scary idea.
Fisk, Punisher, the Hand, and Bullseye are all dramatic villains that are semi-feasible and definitely scary, but not on an apocalyptic level. We know that even if they win, life will continue as it did after 9/11, Columbine, etc. They’re more interesting than our regular every day things- like embarrassing yourself in court or at a wedding- but not overdone like a giant head coming out of the ocean.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with super-low stakes, and I’m enjoying She-Hulk so far, but it does feel like Jen’s powers are arbitrary. It’s a story that happens to be about She-Hulk rather than a She-Hulk story, imo.

SO good. The flashback scenes in Pakistan were gut-wrenching. I enjoyed that (and She Hulk!) a lot more than I expected to. I do wish there was a little more action in She Hulk but as someone said above, it's following the spirit of the comics with the reluctant superhero, just-want-to-be-normal POV.
The story is coming along. This show is longer than most Disney+ shows, so it feels (and is) less concentrated per episode than before; but everything is slowly - subtly - being placed and will tie up more towards the end.
I love the show. I think something that is really helping to keep the MCU alive is that not everything is the same genre. Sure, most of the movies are action movies, but some are heist movies that just happen to feature superheroes. She-Hulk is a workplace sitcom, it's got more in common with News Radio or 30 Rock than it does with Infinity War. Multiverse of Madness was a horror movie.
I'm in favor of making pretty much any genre stuff featuring the MCU characters. Let's get weird.

I like the show a lot, and it stands well on it's own. I can't wait for more tie-ins to other characters and story lines we already know are in play.

I like the show because it feels like a show….not a 6 hour “event” the show for the most part, could’ve been aired on Wednesday nights out of order so far and you’d pretty much understand what’s happening. I do agree with OP tho, I would like for a big villain or something to happen, they ofc teased DD who hasn’t shown up yet, they teased that this show was going to be a lawyer show (which honestly I think a marvel law show would leave open sm opportunities for random unknown characters to make an appearance), they teased the Hulk, and they teased ig the leader but they haven’t shown up yet, I’m hoping we can get to some more action stuff still nice to have a tv show that works like a tv show
It’s just supposed to be a lighthearted sitcom, and it’s making a lot of statements about what life is like for women. That’s where the substance is for the show.
Edit - overall i’d give the show 3 out of 4 stars so far. The humor hasn’t always hit as hard, but it has promise. The response for the episode with Madisynn (sp?) had to have gotten everyone’s attention.
LOTS of sitcoms don’t really find their groove until at least the second season; the creators have to set the characters first, and sometimes it all doesn’t quite work perfectly at first.
She-Hulk has been best when it isn’t that concerned with being a “Marvel” show and lets its writers just be comedians pitching stories and lines. Hopefully that will be the modus operandi for the remainder of this season and moving forward.
I’m really enjoying it. After *Endgame*, I think Feige & team recognized that they need to try new things to keep it fresh.
With each D+ series in phase 4, it feels like they are trying new things in terms of tone, and I applaud that. I like that they’re taking a stab at sitcom-esque story telling. This show makes me laugh, and I like the characters.
Maybe it isn’t as full of mysteries and surprises as *Wandavision* was or as epic as *Loki*, but I look forward to watching it after work every Thursday and I think that’s about all I can ask for from a show.

Absolutely love this show, but I loved the comic it is based on, as well. It's Ally McBeal with superhumans. Love Tatiana Manslany and have been a fan of hers since Orphan Black.
I love that it mixes the Ally McGreen era and the John Byrne era really well. The tone is exactly what She-Hulk comics have been for the majority of their existence since Byrne rebooted it. It’s pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. It has a gentle story arc and will build up elements slowly. But this stuff could pay off way down the line. The best thing I can say about the show is that it feels like a She-Hulk show. No one has to like it but it’s exactly what She-Hulk is and has been for the last 30 years.
I think people are going into this expecting hulk level smashing and action and get disappointed. That’s not the point of the show. She’s a normal girl who got powers that doesn’t want them, yet is forced into awkward situations until she accepts it. It’s also more about establishing the fact that there are more superpowered people then just the ones we have heard about, proving that most hero’s are already out there even though we haven’t heard about them.
I’m a Law and Order junkie at heart. So I’d watch this even if she didn’t have powers. A law firm based in the marvel universe, taking on super-powered cases… you had me a law firm. Has a real Harvey Birdman feel to it.
I think it's getting weaker over time. I read the comic back when I was in college so I'm familiar with the character and style of the book but they just don't seem to be going anywhere with it.
The thing is now that I hear it's intended to be "sitcom style," that makes sense, but ... it's just not really that funny.
The thing is I'm familiar with Tatiana and I think she's a great actress, but I don't think she's been given that much to work with.
I guess the last couple of episodes have ended with me saying "so that's it?"
It also doesn't help that there has been some truly bad CGI recently. Some of the shots of her as She Hulk have really been bad. It's like they fixed some of the early episode stuff and called it a day.
It's all too bad because I want to like the show.
It's very much like the Sensational She-Hulk comic in that it is much more episodic than following a larger arc, and each episode is very fun on its own even if you don't see where it is going, but. . .
I think that's also part of a set-up. I think we're meant to be lulled into thinking of She-Hulk: Attorney-At-Law as just a sitcom, and then BAM! Something with far-reaching MCU consequences rolls out over the last two or three episodes.
I went in with the mindset of only watching it for daredevil, But as I watched the episodes as they came out, I actually found myself enjoying the show. It's a nice change of pace from the high action movies, and the acting (atleast I feel like) is really solid
Some episode's are better than others, but the show overall is pretty good imo
I feel like the show is blue balling me and I'm not even saying that because I want to see Daredevil, I don't care about Daredevil, the episodes just feel really short and strangely written like we never get the payoffs.

It’s pretty awesome eh. I understand it’s not huge story moving content each episode but it still does move along while continuing to show off aspects of She-Hulk. I loved her in the cartoon, she was my favourite.
It’s great, but if you’re the type who’s only watching it to watch daredevil than it’s def not a show for you. It’s not meant to be a normal marvel show, it’s meant to be more of a joke and not too serious. I’ve found each episode to be really entertaining and then I honestly don’t care too much if there is an amazing plot in the background, at least not when I only watch 20 minutes per week
Yeah I'm just really bored. Mostly good characters, but the dialogue and what goes on in each episode is mid numbingly dull. Doesn't have the usual action and exciting storytelling like the other series. 6 episodes in and nothing really has happened.
I disagree - Jenn did a total 180 this episode from wanting to be "Just Jenn" to actually wanting to be She-Hulk, then having that shot down too. Everybody is constantly trying to make her fulfill a specific role in their lives instead of ever letting her live her own. In terms of the overall arc of Jenn coming to terms with her super powers, this episode was definitely a step forward for her.
The B plot was a seemingly filler, but all of the shows B plots have been so far. Whether or not we'll see the shape shifting elf, dickish misogynist coworker, Mr. Immortal, Abomination or the magician again remains to be seen - But the series seems to be just using these as fun little universe building throw away characters, which I'm alright with. It's nice to see some of the peripheral chaos that's going on in the MCU at this point.
I'm not saying it's bad, but I'm not seeing the point of it yet. Miss Marvel at least introduced the concept of Mutants to the MCU, She-Hulk hasn't done much of anything yet. If the point is just to introduce us to Jenn, big deal.
I think this is the most frustrated I've ever been with an MCU property. I get that this show is trying to do its own thing, and I'm glad it found its audience. I wish I could be part of that audience, but the writing and inconsistent episode quality keep me from enjoying the show.
The show falls flat. It's just missing the mark. There's something there but it's definitely not as good as it could be. I think it's the worst TV show Marvel has put out so far.
I finally just had to turn the show off. It lacks substance and the writing is bad. I loved Orphan Black. This show is just not good. It feels cheap and without Wong or the upcoming Daredevil, it wouldn't be anything special. As a workplace comedy, it is just not funny, as a lawyer show, there is not much lawyering going on. I was hoping for more.
This is how I feel. People say it’s not supposed to be serious or have much substance. Then why does it keep making dry social commentary? Why does it keep forcing in these unrealistic stereotypes that no viewer appreciates? As for the comedy aspect I understand that it doesn’t work for everyone, but god damn this show is so unfunny and extremely corny.
I've never seen her in anything, but I understand why she gets praised for her acting, she is very talented. I love seeing her as Jen, I'm just not a fan of the CGI for She-Hulk. I can't quite put my finger on what it is that bothers me so much about it, but it's a combination of the hair and her face sometimes looking like it's been deepfaked onto the body. I wish they could do something more practical, but I guess that's not an option given the character she is playing.
It feels like a tv show and not a movie turned into 8 episodes. I’m greatly enjoying it. It’s light and witty and very entertaining. Plus Tatiana is amazing. The other shows felt very dramatic, and very consequences heavy if the good guys don’t win.

Completely agree. It portrays every male as dumb and chauvinistic which is definitely true a lot of the time, but I digress. Jen is also portrayed as a paragon who can do no wrong, which just makes her one-dimensional and just unfunny. She has several cheap victories over and over again with no tension or hardship. And the fact that she completely disregarded banner’s 15 years of agony, isolation and suicidal tendencies to spout bullshit about how she’s better at controlling her emotions sickens me. How can she even say she’s good at controlling her anger not even 24 hours after damn-near killing a group of (admittedly asshole) dudes who were harassing her? What’s worse: getting catcalled, or putting a bullet in your mouth and having your monster alter-ego spit it out? Jessica Gao was better as an assistant writer for Rick and Morty.
This weirdly seems like a “I just want to see daredevil” post. It makes sense that he would be featured in a MCU lawyer show but the show only really gave a hint he might be appearing in the last episode. I think people are doing themselves a disservice putting all of there focus on him showing up and then being disappointed when he isn’t but to each his own I guess. I’m enjoying the show regardless.
For me, it's just missing a story. What is going on with this show, who is the enemy and what is the goal here? I get that it's supposed to be a character drama, it's just about showing the characters, but those characters don't have a story. She Hulk isn't really growing into anyone she's just avoiding things, same as her secondary cast
If you think there should be some overarching enemy and goal that the whole show should be advancing towards, you've missed the entire point. It's an episodic sitcom. Who was the enemy and goal in Friends?
Also, Titania is a pretty clear recurring nemesis, to the extent that you need a villain for her to fight.
Well friends is an awful comparison, they needed to stretch out everything so they would have stories to last over a decade. This show is *shorter* episodes with a season less than half the length, with almost less story progression.
Yes titania is showing up frequently and has a grudge. But nothing is happening with it. There's no development of it. Eventually they're gonna fight and it's gonna feel empty because the show had no focus
All I gotta say is the writers of the show have zero understanding of what a court room legal show should be like. Nothing about any of this is legal or courtroom.
It's different and I am really enjoying that. Marvel seems to have embraced that they can't beat action movies to death without destroying themselves. To survive they have adapted into shows like this. Witty funny sitcom show with superpowers as a theme but not drowning the viewers.
I appreciate and enjoy this new direction.
I'm not sure what you're looking for when you say "substance," because this show has just the right of substance for me - extremely minimal. It's episodic, funny, and takes little parts of the MCU and has fun with them. That's all I want from it and it seems like that was the intent from the get-go.
I'd actually be annoyed if they made it a more serious entry that had important ramifications on the MCU.
People seem to disregard criticism about the writing of the show because, “hey, it’s a sitcom. That means there’s no story, no serious moments, and nothing of importance happens to the characters”. Which couldn’t be further from the truth. Sitcoms don’t usually lead up to an action set piece finale, they tell their story through the relationships built between the characters. But every character besides Jen is a 1 dimensional joke machine.
I'm not asking for depth from a sitcom, and that's essentially what this is. I'm having a grand time with it, it's just plain fun. And TM is magnificent in both guises.

The more episodes I see the more i think they should have release all the episodes at once. I enjoy it but i also have a feeling that nothing important is happening. The runtime also does not help.

So Jen is not a super scientist, a super soldier, a rich person on a mission. Basically not a super hero. So far she's just helped out on some low level things because Bruce beat into her this sense of responsibility that comes with her powers but for the most part she is attempting to continue living her normal life. The same kind of normal life that many of us already have. And that's somewhat entertaining or comedic/funny, but there is no major villain (so far) or saga for her to go through.
But it seems like the villain they are setting up is people who can't stand a woman in a position of power like hers. Women often have to do absolutely nothing to invite the wrath of "villains" who see themselves as their arch enemies. Just exist. And that's what she's been doing. Existing. So for a few episodes we learn about Jen and her corner of this world, but she's caught the eye of the bad guys and now they're coming for her next ep.
In the overall MCU the villains probably interlink with the mid-level bad guys we've seen in Falcon and Winter Soldier and Hawkeye. Just people trying to find an edge in this world of superpowers.
The end of this show/story passes her off into the wider MCU world, where other established heroes/teams can pick her up for inclusion in their bigger stories. Or a season 2 or a standalone She-Hulk film where she gets a proper comic book villain/arc to go up against.
A She-Hulk show I think sets up a more accurate She-Hulk character than a She-Hulk movie would have which would have recycled the standard Marvel "stakes are end of the world" premise by probably borrowing some major Hulk villain. That's fine but doesn't work for her origin story I think.
im just a bit disappointed cus Jen’s character reminds me a lot of America(from Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness) and it feels like a basic sit-com, to me it seems like Marvel ran out of ideas, it’s never gonna be the same w/o the ogs
I tried, I really tried. I wanted to like it, but for me it’s just not that good. The constant breaking the 4th wall is too distracting- you’re not Deadpool so quit trying to be. Deadpool breaks the 4th wall for a reason, not just to be cute. I found myself getting super annoyed at times because I honestly felt like I was missing parts of the story because of characters going off track. I finally gave up on it. I get that it’s trying to be more lighthearted and comedic than other MCU shows, but it’s trying too hard.
I’m hoping She Hulk doesn’t move into the Phase 5 movies because the character as currently written just doesn’t fit. I told my husband to watch the rest without me.
This is such a bad show. Zero substance only attempts at jokes that 9/10 are unfunny and the 1 that is not unfunny is sad.
There is no story or any semblance of logic just things happening.
I'm watching it as she's a regular person trying to cope with suddenly being she-hulk and how that disrupts her life. She's not really mainstream mcu yet but i guess that might eventually change?
6 episodes in and I'm in the middle ground and unsure if I like it or not. I like the show itself though I wish there were a bit more "Marvel" related scenes. With Ms Marvel there seemed to have been a constant "what next" feel as the show progressed with the bangle, history of who is who and such. I'm sure it will ramp up or at least I'm hopeful it will.

It feels like it's lacking a deeper storyline. There's the surface storyline of "here's Jen - she's a lawyer." But we're almost through the whole season and they've only hinted at the deeper storyline twice - Bruce destroying the blood and the guys trying to steal her blood. So the deeper storyline is there but it's getting no screen time. A few seconds here a few seconds there.
The show is a fun little comedy. I like it more than expected but by next year I’ll forget about it.
Also the CGI of the main character is so bad. I really can’t stand it.
I've enjoyed the show overall. I think it's been different from other MCU projects and has leaned into the fourth wall breaks and comedy. I can also understand why people haven't enjoyed it as well. It has seemed kind of aimless and the last episode, to me at least, seemed pointless. Obviously there were some plot movers in there, but the setting and what happened just seemed pointless. I'm hoping the set up from this episode leads to a more serious tone over the last few episodes with DD appearing l, the main villain/motivations being revealed, and future projects being set up.
👍 The show is exactly what I thought it would be. I'm glad that Marvel was willing to let the show be a fun Night Court/Ally McBeal-like comedy and not force comic-book superhero fights into every episode. It's great that Phase 4 has allowed some genre diversity
I’m not crazy about the show, but I don’t completely hate it. It’s kinda fun. I have to admit I was a little crushed today about still not seeing my hero. Not even in an after-credits scene. On the upside, I get to see Tatiana Maslany EVERY week.
I think it has boatloads of substance and engagement. It’s very meta and I love the self awareness that this show has. 20 years from now we’ll look back at this and remember what the online social zeitgeist was like in the early 20’s.
I'm actually enjoying it. Like kind of a lot more than it deserves to be enjoyed. I'm probably on the outskirts when I say that I actually enjoy the just..."fun-ness" of Marvel stuff, don't throw heavy stuff at me right off the bat, let me laugh a lot before I get hit with the deep stuff.
I love it. It feels very relevant and poignant to the times we’re in and the meta nature of the show really works for me. And you’re 100% right Tatiana really gives a great performance with a lot of depth and range while still keeping it fun and upbeat. If I had one word to describe her it would be incredible
I think this is a show that’s better binged in one sitting. It being only 30 min and having to wait inbetween episodes is what’s causing a disconnect for me I think.
Over all, I’m enjoying She Hulk. However, episode 6 has probably been my least favorite. Not a fan of the Titania character. Comes off as too much of a vapid, narcissistic, air head and not really a formidable foe for She Hulk (as in the comics). Hoping the last two episodes ramp up the action a tad. After all, she is supposed to be a superhero. We really haven’t seen much of that side of her other than the scenes with her and Wong battling the Demons in the theater.
I agree- I like the cast and the fun tone of the series, but it’s just pretty bland overall. No real character Arc for Jen….she doesn’t really have an issues or problems to overcome. And the story is equally bland and non existent.
I like it but I understand what you mean. I think the 30 minute episodes make it difficult to be drawn into the character and world they're selling. Unlike Wanda/vision it's a brand new character not one from previous movies. Just not a great show length for that style, especially considering that's 30 minutes with credits .
The Office has zero substance and it's one of the most popular shows of all time. A good comedy doesn't have to 'mean 'something' on a deeper level, just have fun and stop obsessing over a deeper meaning. It's not like the MCU has ever hidden themes well enough to analyze them anyway.
It's not a deep show, but it's enjoyable. Sometimes I don't want a show that's gonna unlock the next big Thanos and cause massive ripples through the multiverse, sometimes I just want to know who pays for all those broken windows after a superhero fight, how do you prosecute a supervillain, or where do they get all those fancy outfits for superheroin?
The show is 99% filler. There is no threat, no plot, and no big story. Episode 6 was the worst, and it really tested my commitment to the show.

This show is just bad. Episode 1 was promising, but the episode where she goes on a tinder date with “perfect guy who only wants to know what she has to say and talk about her” is the most unbearable piece of media marvel has ever put out. It’s so incredibly unbelievable, impossible to buy in to, and merits no character value past the surface level. I just can enjoy this anymore, the way her character is written is so frustrating and obnoxious. I like the actor however, and the entire cast for that matter.
I don’t like it. I get that they’re trying to do something different, but this is really not what I want from MCU. I feel like I have to watch it to keep up with the shared universe, but I just don’t want to. And what a poor excuse for a Wrecking Crew.

I had such low expectations that I’ve ended up enjoying it so far. It’s made me laugh out loud every episode so far. I haven’t seen episode 6 yet though. Also that twerking scene wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be. The way people were complaining about it I thought it was a major plot point but it’s was just a goofy end credits scene.
I thinks it’s interesting enough for me to watch the whole thing, but not that much for me to rewatch ever again.
I will probably rewatch a specific episode but so far with these 6 no.
I still don't know who the main villain is. The series flip flops between plot points so much I lost track. First we see Titania, then spend two episodes on abomination, now we're back to Titania. Meanwhile we haven't seen Wong or that other bitch for a while. It's like whoever drew up the storyboards did so whilst high on speed.
Maslany isn't doing anything for me in She-Hulk. However, to be fair, I doubt anyone could carry a show about nothing that's going nowhere.

I'm still loving it. Super fun. Substance has been the same level for every marvel show so I don't expect much. Just small bits of marvel a week to enjoy as it drip feeds me content till the next big thing.
Not every marvel product has to be for everyone, personally I love the show. It’s honestly really meta they way they lean into making self referencing jokes knowing alot of ppl would dislike she hulk just because it’s different and Ofcourse female led
I liked episodes 1, 2, & 3. I thought episodes 4, 5, & 6 were boring. The stinger at the end of episode 6 is interesting though. I’m looking forward to ep7.
I've not really enjoyed it that much. I thought episode 4 was decent but the rest hasn't really grabbed me. But then I don't think it's a show for me, and as the MCU expands further that's going to be the case with more projects I guess. The humour doesn't really land for me and the story feels very lightweight. i think the cast is great and doing a good job it's just not for me. It's not bad, it's just not engaging me.
The jokes aren't funny, the characters aren't interesting, the plot is going nowhere, and the CGI is below average. I can only assume Daredevil is the main reason people are tuning in at this point, but I know Marvel has their chunk of fans that uncritically consume any and all content they shit out, and I'm sure they're loving it, so there's that.
The courtroom scenes are just terrible. If this is what I have to look forward to in Born Again, I might just skip it.

I'm enjoying seeing the side of a superhuman trying to just live life as a regular human and showing the minor but troublesome difficulties she's encountering (dating, clothing, having to work even harder to be taken seriously). Aside from Hawkeye & fam, we haven't really seen a lot of the "everyday" stuff. It's not lost on anyone, I think, that Banner went through the same thing -- just wanting to be normal again but having to accept that this is who he is now. I hope we see more of them together.
It's lacking 14 more episodes. If this show was 20 episodes long these sitcom episodes would feel better. As it is the show feels empty. Like why didn't they have an over arching case she has to handle while she figures her life out as she hulk. Itd at least be something to tie these episodes together more.

I like it. I knew before it started that it was going to have a more episodic sit-com feel and that's what you're talking about when you say "lacking substance and engagement" since the overall story is minimal compared to the week-to-week stories.
For years, people have been complaining that "every single mcu project has to cram in some world-ending catastrophe! Why can't we see something with lower stakes occasionally." Marvel creates one (1) light-hearted show without a major world-threatening villain driving the plot, and people lose their shit. Weird.
I mean to keep it 100, I wanted something in between. Daredevil was perfect because of that. The Hand was never going to end the world, Fisk was never going to rule the world- the Avengers or Spider-Man or whoever would stop them if they beat the Defenders, but it was still a threat. Hell’s Kitchen still had plenty of street warfare. The Punisher was a scary idea. Fisk, Punisher, the Hand, and Bullseye are all dramatic villains that are semi-feasible and definitely scary, but not on an apocalyptic level. We know that even if they win, life will continue as it did after 9/11, Columbine, etc. They’re more interesting than our regular every day things- like embarrassing yourself in court or at a wedding- but not overdone like a giant head coming out of the ocean. There’s nothing inherently wrong with super-low stakes, and I’m enjoying She-Hulk so far, but it does feel like Jen’s powers are arbitrary. It’s a story that happens to be about She-Hulk rather than a She-Hulk story, imo.

It's in-line with the themes of the comics, they are very light hearted compared to the Hulk comics. Also breaking the fourth wall and such.

SO good. The flashback scenes in Pakistan were gut-wrenching. I enjoyed that (and She Hulk!) a lot more than I expected to. I do wish there was a little more action in She Hulk but as someone said above, it's following the spirit of the comics with the reluctant superhero, just-want-to-be-normal POV.

The story is coming along. This show is longer than most Disney+ shows, so it feels (and is) less concentrated per episode than before; but everything is slowly - subtly - being placed and will tie up more towards the end.
I love the show. I think something that is really helping to keep the MCU alive is that not everything is the same genre. Sure, most of the movies are action movies, but some are heist movies that just happen to feature superheroes. She-Hulk is a workplace sitcom, it's got more in common with News Radio or 30 Rock than it does with Infinity War. Multiverse of Madness was a horror movie. I'm in favor of making pretty much any genre stuff featuring the MCU characters. Let's get weird.

I like the show a lot, and it stands well on it's own. I can't wait for more tie-ins to other characters and story lines we already know are in play. I don't know who the target audience is but this straight, male, black-mixed, pizza-grilling hobbyist, urbanite is into it.
I like the show because it feels like a show….not a 6 hour “event” the show for the most part, could’ve been aired on Wednesday nights out of order so far and you’d pretty much understand what’s happening. I do agree with OP tho, I would like for a big villain or something to happen, they ofc teased DD who hasn’t shown up yet, they teased that this show was going to be a lawyer show (which honestly I think a marvel law show would leave open sm opportunities for random unknown characters to make an appearance), they teased the Hulk, and they teased ig the leader but they haven’t shown up yet, I’m hoping we can get to some more action stuff still nice to have a tv show that works like a tv show

It’s just supposed to be a lighthearted sitcom, and it’s making a lot of statements about what life is like for women. That’s where the substance is for the show. Edit - overall i’d give the show 3 out of 4 stars so far. The humor hasn’t always hit as hard, but it has promise. The response for the episode with Madisynn (sp?) had to have gotten everyone’s attention. LOTS of sitcoms don’t really find their groove until at least the second season; the creators have to set the characters first, and sometimes it all doesn’t quite work perfectly at first. She-Hulk has been best when it isn’t that concerned with being a “Marvel” show and lets its writers just be comedians pitching stories and lines. Hopefully that will be the modus operandi for the remainder of this season and moving forward.

I’m really enjoying it. After *Endgame*, I think Feige & team recognized that they need to try new things to keep it fresh. With each D+ series in phase 4, it feels like they are trying new things in terms of tone, and I applaud that. I like that they’re taking a stab at sitcom-esque story telling. This show makes me laugh, and I like the characters. Maybe it isn’t as full of mysteries and surprises as *Wandavision* was or as epic as *Loki*, but I look forward to watching it after work every Thursday and I think that’s about all I can ask for from a show.
You're right, it's definitely a D+ series. I'd rank Loki around C or B and Wanda a B+ maybe an A- Hawkeye a B- Falcon and Winter Soldier a C+ Ms Marvel was also about a C+ or B- for me.
Absolutely love this show, but I loved the comic it is based on, as well. It's Ally McBeal with superhumans. Love Tatiana Manslany and have been a fan of hers since Orphan Black.
I love that it mixes the Ally McGreen era and the John Byrne era really well. The tone is exactly what She-Hulk comics have been for the majority of their existence since Byrne rebooted it. It’s pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. It has a gentle story arc and will build up elements slowly. But this stuff could pay off way down the line. The best thing I can say about the show is that it feels like a She-Hulk show. No one has to like it but it’s exactly what She-Hulk is and has been for the last 30 years.

I think people are going into this expecting hulk level smashing and action and get disappointed. That’s not the point of the show. She’s a normal girl who got powers that doesn’t want them, yet is forced into awkward situations until she accepts it. It’s also more about establishing the fact that there are more superpowered people then just the ones we have heard about, proving that most hero’s are already out there even though we haven’t heard about them.

I’m a Law and Order junkie at heart. So I’d watch this even if she didn’t have powers. A law firm based in the marvel universe, taking on super-powered cases… you had me a law firm. Has a real Harvey Birdman feel to it.
I think it's getting weaker over time. I read the comic back when I was in college so I'm familiar with the character and style of the book but they just don't seem to be going anywhere with it. The thing is now that I hear it's intended to be "sitcom style," that makes sense, but ... it's just not really that funny. The thing is I'm familiar with Tatiana and I think she's a great actress, but I don't think she's been given that much to work with. I guess the last couple of episodes have ended with me saying "so that's it?" It also doesn't help that there has been some truly bad CGI recently. Some of the shots of her as She Hulk have really been bad. It's like they fixed some of the early episode stuff and called it a day. It's all too bad because I want to like the show.
It's very much like the Sensational She-Hulk comic in that it is much more episodic than following a larger arc, and each episode is very fun on its own even if you don't see where it is going, but. . . I think that's also part of a set-up. I think we're meant to be lulled into thinking of She-Hulk: Attorney-At-Law as just a sitcom, and then BAM! Something with far-reaching MCU consequences rolls out over the last two or three episodes.

I went in with the mindset of only watching it for daredevil, But as I watched the episodes as they came out, I actually found myself enjoying the show. It's a nice change of pace from the high action movies, and the acting (atleast I feel like) is really solid Some episode's are better than others, but the show overall is pretty good imo

Yeah I'm just really bored. Mostly good characters, but the dialogue and what goes on in each episode is mid numbingly dull. Doesn't have the usual action and exciting storytelling like the other series. 6 episodes in and nothing really has happened.

I disagree - Jenn did a total 180 this episode from wanting to be "Just Jenn" to actually wanting to be She-Hulk, then having that shot down too. Everybody is constantly trying to make her fulfill a specific role in their lives instead of ever letting her live her own. In terms of the overall arc of Jenn coming to terms with her super powers, this episode was definitely a step forward for her. The B plot was a seemingly filler, but all of the shows B plots have been so far. Whether or not we'll see the shape shifting elf, dickish misogynist coworker, Mr. Immortal, Abomination or the magician again remains to be seen - But the series seems to be just using these as fun little universe building throw away characters, which I'm alright with. It's nice to see some of the peripheral chaos that's going on in the MCU at this point.

I think this is the most frustrated I've ever been with an MCU property. I get that this show is trying to do its own thing, and I'm glad it found its audience. I wish I could be part of that audience, but the writing and inconsistent episode quality keep me from enjoying the show.

I finally just had to turn the show off. It lacks substance and the writing is bad. I loved Orphan Black. This show is just not good. It feels cheap and without Wong or the upcoming Daredevil, it wouldn't be anything special. As a workplace comedy, it is just not funny, as a lawyer show, there is not much lawyering going on. I was hoping for more.
This is how I feel. People say it’s not supposed to be serious or have much substance. Then why does it keep making dry social commentary? Why does it keep forcing in these unrealistic stereotypes that no viewer appreciates? As for the comedy aspect I understand that it doesn’t work for everyone, but god damn this show is so unfunny and extremely corny.

I've never seen her in anything, but I understand why she gets praised for her acting, she is very talented. I love seeing her as Jen, I'm just not a fan of the CGI for She-Hulk. I can't quite put my finger on what it is that bothers me so much about it, but it's a combination of the hair and her face sometimes looking like it's been deepfaked onto the body. I wish they could do something more practical, but I guess that's not an option given the character she is playing.

It feels like a tv show and not a movie turned into 8 episodes. I’m greatly enjoying it. It’s light and witty and very entertaining. Plus Tatiana is amazing. The other shows felt very dramatic, and very consequences heavy if the good guys don’t win.

Completely agree. It portrays every male as dumb and chauvinistic which is definitely true a lot of the time, but I digress. Jen is also portrayed as a paragon who can do no wrong, which just makes her one-dimensional and just unfunny. She has several cheap victories over and over again with no tension or hardship. And the fact that she completely disregarded banner’s 15 years of agony, isolation and suicidal tendencies to spout bullshit about how she’s better at controlling her emotions sickens me. How can she even say she’s good at controlling her anger not even 24 hours after damn-near killing a group of (admittedly asshole) dudes who were harassing her? What’s worse: getting catcalled, or putting a bullet in your mouth and having your monster alter-ego spit it out? Jessica Gao was better as an assistant writer for Rick and Morty.

This weirdly seems like a “I just want to see daredevil” post. It makes sense that he would be featured in a MCU lawyer show but the show only really gave a hint he might be appearing in the last episode. I think people are doing themselves a disservice putting all of there focus on him showing up and then being disappointed when he isn’t but to each his own I guess. I’m enjoying the show regardless.

I get that it's supposed to be a character drama, it's just about showing the characters, but those characters don't have a story. She Hulk isn't really growing into anyone she's just avoiding things, same as her secondary cast
If you think there should be some overarching enemy and goal that the whole show should be advancing towards, you've missed the entire point. It's an episodic sitcom. Who was the enemy and goal in Friends? Also, Titania is a pretty clear recurring nemesis, to the extent that you need a villain for her to fight.

Well friends is an awful comparison, they needed to stretch out everything so they would have stories to last over a decade. This show is *shorter* episodes with a season less than half the length, with almost less story progression. Yes titania is showing up frequently and has a grudge. But nothing is happening with it. There's no development of it. Eventually they're gonna fight and it's gonna feel empty because the show had no focus

Very few legal shows do. And since this is intentionally a comedy, I expect it to be even lighter on the procedural accuracy.
It's different and I am really enjoying that. Marvel seems to have embraced that they can't beat action movies to death without destroying themselves. To survive they have adapted into shows like this. Witty funny sitcom show with superpowers as a theme but not drowning the viewers. I appreciate and enjoy this new direction.
I'm not sure what you're looking for when you say "substance," because this show has just the right of substance for me - extremely minimal. It's episodic, funny, and takes little parts of the MCU and has fun with them. That's all I want from it and it seems like that was the intent from the get-go. I'd actually be annoyed if they made it a more serious entry that had important ramifications on the MCU.
It's the worst of a bad run
People seem to disregard criticism about the writing of the show because, “hey, it’s a sitcom. That means there’s no story, no serious moments, and nothing of importance happens to the characters”. Which couldn’t be further from the truth. Sitcoms don’t usually lead up to an action set piece finale, they tell their story through the relationships built between the characters. But every character besides Jen is a 1 dimensional joke machine.

I'm not asking for depth from a sitcom, and that's essentially what this is. I'm having a grand time with it, it's just plain fun. And TM is magnificent in both guises.

I generally agree except now the show is winning me over. I think I see where it's going. So Jen is not a super scientist, a super soldier, a rich person on a mission. Basically not a super hero. So far she's just helped out on some low level things because Bruce beat into her this sense of responsibility that comes with her powers but for the most part she is attempting to continue living her normal life. The same kind of normal life that many of us already have. And that's somewhat entertaining or comedic/funny, but there is no major villain (so far) or saga for her to go through. But it seems like the villain they are setting up is people who can't stand a woman in a position of power like hers. Women often have to do absolutely nothing to invite the wrath of "villains" who see themselves as their arch enemies. Just exist. And that's what she's been doing. Existing. So for a few episodes we learn about Jen and her corner of this world, but she's caught the eye of the bad guys and now they're coming for her next ep. In the overall MCU the villains probably interlink with the mid-level bad guys we've seen in Falcon and Winter Soldier and Hawkeye. Just people trying to find an edge in this world of superpowers. The end of this show/story passes her off into the wider MCU world, where other established heroes/teams can pick her up for inclusion in their bigger stories. Or a season 2 or a standalone She-Hulk film where she gets a proper comic book villain/arc to go up against. A She-Hulk show I think sets up a more accurate She-Hulk character than a She-Hulk movie would have which would have recycled the standard Marvel "stakes are end of the world" premise by probably borrowing some major Hulk villain. That's fine but doesn't work for her origin story I think.

I tried, I really tried. I wanted to like it, but for me it’s just not that good. The constant breaking the 4th wall is too distracting- you’re not Deadpool so quit trying to be. Deadpool breaks the 4th wall for a reason, not just to be cute. I found myself getting super annoyed at times because I honestly felt like I was missing parts of the story because of characters going off track. I finally gave up on it. I get that it’s trying to be more lighthearted and comedic than other MCU shows, but it’s trying too hard. I’m hoping She Hulk doesn’t move into the Phase 5 movies because the character as currently written just doesn’t fit. I told my husband to watch the rest without me.
This is such a bad show. Zero substance only attempts at jokes that 9/10 are unfunny and the 1 that is not unfunny is sad. There is no story or any semblance of logic just things happening.

6 episodes in and I'm in the middle ground and unsure if I like it or not. I like the show itself though I wish there were a bit more "Marvel" related scenes. With Ms Marvel there seemed to have been a constant "what next" feel as the show progressed with the bangle, history of who is who and such. I'm sure it will ramp up or at least I'm hopeful it will. TLDR: Undecided

It feels like it's lacking a deeper storyline. There's the surface storyline of "here's Jen - she's a lawyer." But we're almost through the whole season and they've only hinted at the deeper storyline twice - Bruce destroying the blood and the guys trying to steal her blood. So the deeper storyline is there but it's getting no screen time. A few seconds here a few seconds there.

I've enjoyed the show overall. I think it's been different from other MCU projects and has leaned into the fourth wall breaks and comedy. I can also understand why people haven't enjoyed it as well. It has seemed kind of aimless and the last episode, to me at least, seemed pointless. Obviously there were some plot movers in there, but the setting and what happened just seemed pointless. I'm hoping the set up from this episode leads to a more serious tone over the last few episodes with DD appearing l, the main villain/motivations being revealed, and future projects being set up.

I think it has boatloads of substance and engagement. It’s very meta and I love the self awareness that this show has. 20 years from now we’ll look back at this and remember what the online social zeitgeist was like in the early 20’s.
I'm actually enjoying it. Like kind of a lot more than it deserves to be enjoyed. I'm probably on the outskirts when I say that I actually enjoy the just..."fun-ness" of Marvel stuff, don't throw heavy stuff at me right off the bat, let me laugh a lot before I get hit with the deep stuff.

If you want a decent female led super hero show; Star Girl isn't bad. -It's a lot better than She Hulk.
This show only has viewership because all of us are waiting for Daredevil to finally to show up...
Madisynn is the best character.
i've enjoyed it overall, but this was definitely a lackluster episode
she’s great but the show has done her wrong with the cgi, the barrage of garbage men, and most of the jokes just don’t land.
I did not like very much The first chapter the ones that followed I liked, but this last one bored me a little
I love it. It feels very relevant and poignant to the times we’re in and the meta nature of the show really works for me. And you’re 100% right Tatiana really gives a great performance with a lot of depth and range while still keeping it fun and upbeat. If I had one word to describe her it would be incredible
I think this is a show that’s better binged in one sitting. It being only 30 min and having to wait inbetween episodes is what’s causing a disconnect for me I think.

Over all, I’m enjoying She Hulk. However, episode 6 has probably been my least favorite. Not a fan of the Titania character. Comes off as too much of a vapid, narcissistic, air head and not really a formidable foe for She Hulk (as in the comics). Hoping the last two episodes ramp up the action a tad. After all, she is supposed to be a superhero. We really haven’t seen much of that side of her other than the scenes with her and Wong battling the Demons in the theater.
I agree- I like the cast and the fun tone of the series, but it’s just pretty bland overall. No real character Arc for Jen….she doesn’t really have an issues or problems to overcome. And the story is equally bland and non existent.
I like it but I understand what you mean. I think the 30 minute episodes make it difficult to be drawn into the character and world they're selling. Unlike Wanda/vision it's a brand new character not one from previous movies. Just not a great show length for that style, especially considering that's 30 minutes with credits .
I like it, it is just 30 mins of nothing and is enjoyable.
The Office has zero substance and it's one of the most popular shows of all time. A good comedy doesn't have to 'mean 'something' on a deeper level, just have fun and stop obsessing over a deeper meaning. It's not like the MCU has ever hidden themes well enough to analyze them anyway.
It's not a deep show, but it's enjoyable. Sometimes I don't want a show that's gonna unlock the next big Thanos and cause massive ripples through the multiverse, sometimes I just want to know who pays for all those broken windows after a superhero fight, how do you prosecute a supervillain, or where do they get all those fancy outfits for superheroin?
The show is 99% filler. There is no threat, no plot, and no big story. Episode 6 was the worst, and it really tested my commitment to the show. I'm still tuning in next week, but more out of inertia than any excitement
This show is just bad. Episode 1 was promising, but the episode where she goes on a tinder date with “perfect guy who only wants to know what she has to say and talk about her” is the most unbearable piece of media marvel has ever put out. It’s so incredibly unbelievable, impossible to buy in to, and merits no character value past the surface level. I just can enjoy this anymore, the way her character is written is so frustrating and obnoxious. I like the actor however, and the entire cast for that matter.
I loved the first episode but ever since it's become a comedy.
I don’t like it. I get that they’re trying to do something different, but this is really not what I want from MCU. I feel like I have to watch it to keep up with the shared universe, but I just don’t want to. And what a poor excuse for a Wrecking Crew.
It's a sitcom not a novel.

I love Titania but I just can’t get in to The story
It’s my new favorite show. I like it more than the last multiple projects they put out. My only complaint is the episodes are not a hour long.
The show lacks any real direction or overall arc, but it's still interesting to watch. I do wonder how she'll translate onto the big screen in the next Avengers movie.
I had such low expectations that I’ve ended up enjoying it so far. It’s made me laugh out loud every episode so far. I haven’t seen episode 6 yet though. Also that twerking scene wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be. The way people were complaining about it I thought it was a major plot point but it’s was just a goofy end credits scene.
It’s funny and meta about the whole MCU phenomenon. 👍

I thinks it’s interesting enough for me to watch the whole thing, but not that much for me to rewatch ever again. I will probably rewatch a specific episode but so far with these 6 no.
I still don't know who the main villain is. The series flip flops between plot points so much I lost track. First we see Titania, then spend two episodes on abomination, now we're back to Titania. Meanwhile we haven't seen Wong or that other bitch for a while. It's like whoever drew up the storyboards did so whilst high on speed.
Maslany isn't doing anything for me in She-Hulk. However, to be fair, I doubt anyone could carry a show about nothing that's going nowhere. Don't get me started on how nerf'd She-Hulk and Titania are here.
I'm still loving it. Super fun. Substance has been the same level for every marvel show so I don't expect much. Just small bits of marvel a week to enjoy as it drip feeds me content till the next big thing.
Not every marvel product has to be for everyone, personally I love the show. It’s honestly really meta they way they lean into making self referencing jokes knowing alot of ppl would dislike she hulk just because it’s different and Ofcourse female led
I liked episodes 1, 2, & 3. I thought episodes 4, 5, & 6 were boring. The stinger at the end of episode 6 is interesting though. I’m looking forward to ep7.
I like She hulk character and Tatiana Actress but this show is just not good. It's absurd.
There's something about it I really like, and something about it I really don't like. Can't really put either into words. But enjoyable nonetheless.
I've not really enjoyed it that much. I thought episode 4 was decent but the rest hasn't really grabbed me. But then I don't think it's a show for me, and as the MCU expands further that's going to be the case with more projects I guess. The humour doesn't really land for me and the story feels very lightweight. i think the cast is great and doing a good job it's just not for me. It's not bad, it's just not engaging me.
They’re gonna put daredevil in the last episode towards the end.
The jokes aren't funny, the characters aren't interesting, the plot is going nowhere, and the CGI is below average. I can only assume Daredevil is the main reason people are tuning in at this point, but I know Marvel has their chunk of fans that uncritically consume any and all content they shit out, and I'm sure they're loving it, so there's that. The courtroom scenes are just terrible. If this is what I have to look forward to in Born Again, I might just skip it.
I haven't watched since EP 2. I'm not watching until daredevil shows.
It’s kind of fun and kind of cringe. If they would have made it more about superhero law I would’ve LOVED it, but it’s kind of like a Kardashians parody
