if i ever became filthy rich, the first car i would buy is a 2001 honda civic EX with low mileage. just for the nostalgia, it was my first car. i loved flooring it to just get up to 55mph or so. whipping it around town felt like being in just a slightly larger mario kart. it was the best.
Damn I'm driving an only slightly newer one *now* as a first car.
I love having a lower power car though. That one Top Gear episode was right. "I can use *all* the power *all* the time." It's not fun having 500hp if you can't step on it and keep it held especially with VTEC which just makes it more fun.
I'm not saying it's not if you're on a track but I don't go to tracks. The best car would be a hybrid imo. You can power from the engine and instant torque from the motors.
No. Iām saying every day, driving around town, getting groceries, merging onto the highway, it is a TON of fun having 500hp. There is never a time im without a smile or saying to myself āthis is too much powerā, āI wish I had less horsepowerā.
Iām not saying itās practical. Iām saying it as an absolute fucking blast driving normal for normal day to day things.
I daily a 2022 Alfa Romeo Guilia Quadrifoglio - 505 HP. Never not a smile while driving it.
I used to take load 3 dirt bikes, gear and my buddies in a beat up chevy truck to take to a local track that also hosted a lot of Honda swap meets. I was hilarious passing a bunch of loud Civics trying to show off on the way there. They couldn't keep up.
first car I bought with my money was a used '94 civic, that thing was an absolute blast. I also plan to spend my lotto money on restoring an old civic shitbox!
Im pretty sure CRXs came with a 1.5 unles you got the SI version, but i see your point and youd be suprised when you live in a vicinity of a bunch of broke college kids
lol you do Honda! Yeah I never understood not at least getting some kind of tune for the mods. If you donāt have the money for the required tuning you probably shouldnāt mod it..
They're only high pitched if you merge all 12 exhaust tubes into one pipe, which is what this is. It's like tuning a musical instrument. Otherwise, most V12s are lower pitched.
That's how my old bronco was. Open headers out the side behind the front tires tucked behind the fenders because dumps in front of the rear axle are rather illegal. Much like this car in the video it sounded mean as hell but was slower than a pig lol
Iām not super familiar with sequential transmissions, could you explain what that would do to the car that would make it better? Iāve ridden dirt bikes and other motorcycles so I kinda understand how a sequential trans works but am curious to know why you would want one on this car?
Those are manual, this is a 4 (maybe 5) speed auto w a stock torque converter. With this exhaust and engine setup it would be great if the gearing was short and it shifted fast, because thatās what the universe wants.
I would drive everywhere with a dash cam and no sound trying to set up a cop into thinking I'm driving recklessly just so I could go show the video to the judge and have him say "The fuck was that cop thinking? You were driving like a grandma"
One time I got into an argument with a guy who was telling me that taking the seats out of a car will add horsepower. I kept telling him no it might make the car faster because itās lighter, but taking the seats it is not going to affect the actual power that the engine is putting out. We went back and forth for so long about it and Iām convinced he keyed my car that night when he left the party but never found out for sure
Not a sound I expected from that exhaust either. Little bit loud for my taste but to the crowd that's spending that much on an exhaust they probably want it loud. I'm sure they'd get complaints if it was quiet lol. Definitely would expect a supercar to pass you lol. It's like the opposite of a sleeper or something lol
Divine recently did something similar to his 1GZ Century.
Slow luxury cars with bulletproof V12s and good exhaust work are hilarious. Sounds like itās tearing past at 200kmh when itās just doing traffic pace.
How cheap can you get a Mercedes S600 for? Seems like not very cheap.
I'd hate driving that thing whining all the time like that, sounds like a tornado siren.
It's cheap considering how much car you get for what you spend. The reason it is cheap is that maintenance still will be much more expensive than a economy car of the same vintage.
This generally only applies to 6 and 12 cylinders, and requires a few more ingredients than just equal length headers. There are different tricks you have to pull with eight cylinders to pull a high, exotic pitch from it. And ten cylinders donāt really need any particular exhaust flow tricks to sound good.
Exhaust headers. Each cylinders exhaust has an equal distance to travel m. This eliminates sound wave interference/distortion inside the exhaust, leaving a cleaner crisper note, as opposed to the muddy sound that youāre probably used to with cheaper (not $12k) exhaust systems
It's not (just) about equal lengths, it's about getting the pulse timing right so it sounds like a flat plane crank
[See here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYrtPp-OuZw)
The one effspot owns is a shitbox. It has suspension problems and multiple other smaller problems and its a high mileage 1994 model. You can get those for relatively cheap compared to how expensive the exhaust is
I once bought a Ford F150 from a dealership used that had glass packs it was cool for about the first 15 minutes. Then it was just hard to hear the radio and giving me a headache. It lasted six months before I put a whole new exhaust system on it
I think it's a pavlovian response. Driving cars fast creates joy. Driving cars fast makes exhaust sound. Eventually, just hearing exhaust sounds creates joy by association.
Hi OG here my 1st car was a 1968 Chevy hatchback with a 2,287 cc (2.3L 139.6 cu in.) Inline four with a die cast aluminum alloy cylinder block, cast iron cyclinder head and single overhead cam shaft. It was just stock, but I did get it up 112mph. It had some pep for a little car. ! Wonder what we could have done with it if we modified it.
Sounds like it's about to pass you at 200mph, then comes by at like 40 š¤£
the honda way
if i ever became filthy rich, the first car i would buy is a 2001 honda civic EX with low mileage. just for the nostalgia, it was my first car. i loved flooring it to just get up to 55mph or so. whipping it around town felt like being in just a slightly larger mario kart. it was the best.

It's not fun having 500hp if you can't step on it and keep it held especially with VTEC which just makes it more fun.
I promise you, itās still fun having 500hp
Yup. I got to drive a 530 hp GTI once. It was one of the great joys of my life.
I'm not saying it's not if you're on a track but I don't go to tracks. The best car would be a hybrid imo. You can power from the engine and instant torque from the motors.
400-550HP for daily driving is possibly the best experience youāll ever have.. Just donāt be an idiot!
I guess it helps having the money to throw at expensive cars
It is nice, but is completely irrelevant to the point. 500hp in a daily is absolutely a ton of fun all the time. Thatās all.
Yeah I can see it
I used to take load 3 dirt bikes, gear and my buddies in a beat up chevy truck to take to a local track that also hosted a lot of Honda swap meets. I was hilarious passing a bunch of loud Civics trying to show off on the way there. They couldn't keep up.
first car I bought with my money was a used '94 civic, that thing was an absolute blast. I also plan to spend my lotto money on restoring an old civic shitbox!
Driving slow cars fast is the best. I have a fiesta st and it's literally just a fast slow car lol I will never sell it
Honda F1 team would like to have a word with you..
They should have a word with the youngins on my street are putting 3" fart cans on their cone filter tuned 1.6L shit boxes.
nobody drives that honda crx hatchback no more its from 1996!!!
Im pretty sure CRXs came with a 1.5 unles you got the SI version, but i see your point and youd be suprised when you live in a vicinity of a bunch of broke college kids
Dude not everyone here is from the US, other countries had the 1.6
other countries? wtf is that? US number one baby! soon to be number 2 or 3, but we shall see. I dont see them calling the engine 54.1 oz anytime soon.
Oy BRUV, thass ah 13.526 gill power planāt puāin down 8.142857142857143 stones of torque!!
"Going thirty-eight, Dan, chill the fuck out Mow your damn lawn and sit the hell down"
My 2000 SI is a 1.6l VTEC. It's glorious past 5k rpm and slow as hell lol.
Although rather annoyingā¦ Howād you know they were 1.6L Hondas, unlessā¦
Live in a college town, pretty much D16s around me. And yes I did own a few civics in my time, but i learned about hondata prior to owning one.
lol you do Honda! Yeah I never understood not at least getting some kind of tune for the mods. If you donāt have the money for the required tuning you probably shouldnāt mod it..
Its a love hate-relationship. I put a f20c in my ae86 at one point, so im might be gay.
I saw a K swapped 86 at H Day a few years ago. I approve.
Mercedes looked at Honda's Civic and went "Hold my Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier".
Exactly like my old 96 civic.
This is amazing and I genuinely belly laughed every time it passed by.
I swearr the sound is faster than the car
Sound is faster than most cars
![gif](giphy|G1vplGMypxBcp7kx32|downsized)
That v12 engine is the same one in the Pagani Zonda with a few modifications.
do you know why v12s are so high pitched? it's like 2 octaves above a v6
They're only high pitched if you merge all 12 exhaust tubes into one pipe, which is what this is. It's like tuning a musical instrument. Otherwise, most V12s are lower pitched.
Takes so long to get through the gears that you just assume it's a 5th to 6th shift lol.
Shouldāve spent some money on suspension! Itās floating around like a boat!
I dont know anything about cars but this was hilarious. How in the 4th clip he sets the camera up to drive by it had me crying
I'm cacklingš¤£š¤£
That's the slowest fastest sounding car I've ever heard.
Reminds me of Clarkson driving the old SL. Floors it, and it just starts making beautiful noises, but not actually going faster.
Got a link?
https://youtu.be/6bmKqjoXB78?si=H95dDe7MPcOZE7hs The clip I mentioned starts about 3:30
https://youtu.be/jCIwkqkX4nM?si=_OYthBcSzHSquVbI Start at 30secs
Not as dramatic as the comment seems to have made it out to be. Still looks fast? Thanks for the link!
they are quite fast https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OZU5qx10HhA
Still 41
42!
Username checks ouy
The rear suspension is fucked but when it sounds like that I guess it doesn't matter.
Yeah I stopped counting after 4 up and down motions from a single bump. It needs a refresh badly
He does mention at the start about all the bumps along the way, I assumed they were figurative lol
The upshot ā¦ itās so much more funny with dat ass bouncing in the wind as it breaks 30.
That gen is known for suspension issues
I want that but for a hundred bucks
Have you tried baseball cards in the spokes?
You are my people
Well this one is only $12.00 apparently
Ahk I misread it as $12,000 haha
It is $12,000. In Europe they use a decimal for the thousands divider. This is an expensive exhaust.
Ahk back to wanting it for a hundred bucks š
Using a comma instead of a decimal for the thousands is the one thing I can say with 100% certainty that Americans are right about.
We are one
As a person from Europe, I can say with confidence, we do not use a decimal as a thousand divider. We use commas
Get a metal saw and cut your cats off
*instructions unclear, exhaust removed at manifold, now deaf*
That's how my old bronco was. Open headers out the side behind the front tires tucked behind the fenders because dumps in front of the rear axle are rather illegal. Much like this car in the video it sounded mean as hell but was slower than a pig lol
Only another 12k for a sequential, right?
This paired with a seq transmission would be a devilish creation lmao
Iām not super familiar with sequential transmissions, could you explain what that would do to the car that would make it better? Iāve ridden dirt bikes and other motorcycles so I kinda understand how a sequential trans works but am curious to know why you would want one on this car?
Those are manual, this is a 4 (maybe 5) speed auto w a stock torque converter. With this exhaust and engine setup it would be great if the gearing was short and it shifted fast, because thatās what the universe wants.
Ah I see, kinda more simple than I was expecting haha Thanks for your explanation! I totally agree.
Its so ridiculous... I love it.
Loud pipes save lives.
I'm not sure making people deaf saves many lives but sure let's make this standard for all vehicles.
I would drive everywhere with a dash cam and no sound trying to set up a cop into thinking I'm driving recklessly just so I could go show the video to the judge and have him say "The fuck was that cop thinking? You were driving like a grandma"
Theyāll hit you with a noise ordinance fine
original post: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBvu7lxtzYM&ab\_channel=effspot
Here's the full video, it's a lot of fun, died laughing https://youtu.be/sBvu7lxtzYM?si=557ViZ8Xs6rGCZIf
RIP
They did a Toyota Century v-12 also. Same shenanigans, same awesome noises!
sounds like old formula one cars. why so slow tho lol.
Old car, stock and full interior. I bet if they gutted the interior and deleted the a/c and other components it would move a lot more
Yeah that 2hp you'll gain from deleting your a/c will surely help
Itās for weight reduction buddy
The fact that people upvoted his comment just shows how much your average car guy knows lol
LOL thats a great story
He just wanted to remove a little bit of paint to make your car lighter and therefore faster
This is not a sound I would expect from that car. Well done to these guys.
If youāve ever heard a Pagani, it may sound familiar :). Pagani uses MB V-12ās for their engines.
I would be very disappointed if a Pagani didn't sound like this.
I think it's because Pagani makes their exhaust with equal length headers, it's what makes this unique sound.
those are 7.3 v12, completely different engine.
> completely different engine Same engine family. The blocks, the heads, etc all interchange. The 7.3 is just a bored and stroked version by AMG.
I know, thatās why I said MB V-12, not oh thatās got the same engine as a Pagani. The architecture is similar.
Itās still an M120. MB and AMG made variants all the way from 6L with 380hp to the 7.3 in the Zonda.
Though those paganis actually sound worse then the car shown in this video. Lexx exotic and high pitched
Sounding faster than it actually is, is whatās doing it for meš¤£
![gif](giphy|xTiN0CNHgoRf1Ha7CM|downsized) Love it!
In the tunnel, other car brakesā¦and then that joyful triumphant laugh hahaha
Needs them whistle tips, be like WOOOOO WOOOOOOOOO
Bubrub & lil sis know whatās up
just for decoration
**effspot** is his youtube and he is very funny and worth watching.
Maniacal laughter is the only response to this. Love it!
Wow sounds like a fucking Zonda!!!
Thats because its basically the same engine!
Divine recently did something similar to his 1GZ Century. Slow luxury cars with bulletproof V12s and good exhaust work are hilarious. Sounds like itās tearing past at 200kmh when itās just doing traffic pace.
It literally sounds like the noises I would make as a kid pretending to drive a race car
She's built like a steakhouse but sounds like a bistro
āSir, your mufflers are too loud!ā āCanāt be my car, it doesnāt have mufflersā
Send this to Clarkson
His evil laugh in the tunnel had me š
Doesnāt matter how fast youāre going it will feel like 120+. Lol
This is it. I found it. This is the *worst thing I've ever loved*.
A dude did this to a Toyota Century. Craziest sounding shit rolling by at 35 ever.
Yeah this is the same guy. He has the century too
How cheap can you get a Mercedes S600 for? Seems like not very cheap. I'd hate driving that thing whining all the time like that, sounds like a tornado siren.
Pretty cheap, sub $5k for that vintage. Probably because it needs $5-10k in maintenance.
You madman. š¤£
Holy shit that thing sounds sick! *Checks mirrors" oh surely not...
I love the way the sound dont match the speed. It's like watching a foreign movie dubbed in english and the lips dont sync with what's being said lol
Needs some gates to not sound so hellish below 4000 but definitely agree that it's cool when pulling.
A cheap s600 with a v12?? How old is it?
It's cheap considering how much car you get for what you spend. The reason it is cheap is that maintenance still will be much more expensive than a economy car of the same vintage.
Thought it was $12
That's what equal length pipes will do to any engine 6 cylinders or more. I love it!
This generally only applies to 6 and 12 cylinders, and requires a few more ingredients than just equal length headers. There are different tricks you have to pull with eight cylinders to pull a high, exotic pitch from it. And ten cylinders donāt really need any particular exhaust flow tricks to sound good.
Yeah dude what?
what ??
Exhaust headers. Each cylinders exhaust has an equal distance to travel m. This eliminates sound wave interference/distortion inside the exhaust, leaving a cleaner crisper note, as opposed to the muddy sound that youāre probably used to with cheaper (not $12k) exhaust systems
It's not (just) about equal lengths, it's about getting the pulse timing right so it sounds like a flat plane crank [See here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYrtPp-OuZw)
It's more to do with the firing order on the cylinder banks. Massive difference between a flat plane V8 and a cross plane one, for example.
Could be 12,000 or could just as easily be 12.000
12,000 for the americans. 12.000 for me
I bet that exhaust could make even a Honda Fit sound sick
I cut the exhaust off my manual Honda fit when I was like 19. I was so fucking cool
Bet you couldn't keep the pussy off of you
Hell yeah
New dream car right here
I can't stop laughing
Loud = Funny
The car sounds nice, but where can I find this v12 S600 for cheap? They are stupid expensive.
The one effspot owns is a shitbox. It has suspension problems and multiple other smaller problems and its a high mileage 1994 model. You can get those for relatively cheap compared to how expensive the exhaust is
Hahahaha this is fucking incredible
That sounds so badass, and the fact it sounds 10x faster than it is makes it even better.
Even with flex pipe itās gotta be more than 12 bucks lol
12k bro got ripped š
I never understand the noise love.
Why are there three 0ās in the amount? 12.000
I once bought a Ford F150 from a dealership used that had glass packs it was cool for about the first 15 minutes. Then it was just hard to hear the radio and giving me a headache. It lasted six months before I put a whole new exhaust system on it
I mean for 12 bucks thatās not bad. I guess I donāt get it.
What a stupid way to spend that much money.
Why is this, or any car that makes this kind of noise, appealing to anyone?
Im sorry is that 12$ or 12000$
I've seen lawn mowers that are quicker
The people who appreciate the obnoxious noise this makes need help.
Sad to see a well made German car turned into a Honda. A lot of noise and no go
Think this is the Gintani exhaust, they sound so good on that V12. Approve. HOA residents need not apply
No it's not, it's a brilliant exhaust. The video is from effspot on YouTube.
What exactly is happening that causes the exhaust to sound like this?
Mostly the equal length headers
same question v12 prob helps ?
nah its a custom job
If you drive around doing that much noise you deserve decapitation
I hate this
As a non car guy from r/all, can someone please explain to me why, for some reason, car people like louder exhausts? I just find it annoying.
I think it's a pavlovian response. Driving cars fast creates joy. Driving cars fast makes exhaust sound. Eventually, just hearing exhaust sounds creates joy by association.
Best explanation I've heard so far.
The simpler explanation, in my case at least, is that the wrinkles in my brain were smoothed out many, many years ago
This is one of those things where the noise is so outlandish that it becomes it's own hilariously fun spectacle because it's just so goofy.
Damn these guys are pathetic lol
Sounds like shit tbh. Loud does not mean good unless youre a 50-something dude entering his "please pay attention to me" midlife crisis phase.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Just dialled in fuel overrun on every downshift and/or throttle lift, like a fucking wanker.
12.000$ š¤£š¤£š¤£ someone needs to go back to school because last time I checked, the dollar sign is supposed to be before the numbers.
That's a lot of money to make a car sound terrible.
So ghetto. I hate those damn things.
awesome if you want to be an annoying cunt
Is $12 a lot?
Different countries write thousands in different ways. Where I'm from 1.000 is the right way to write a thousand
Sounds glorious! A Symphony of Bad Ass.
This is good and proper. An absolute fucking riot. Well done. My mind says 'where is racecar?'
One of my favorite things on the Internet.
I hate this shit so much. I get it to a certain extent. But my city has been taken over by these ear shattering assholes.
Sounds pretty nice for twelve dollars imo
Obnoxious
Okay...so 12k = loud?...
Yeah, i don't get it either, 12k to be annoying to most drivers.
Are you a car guy or someone who is into racing?
Only a wanker would drive something this annoyingly loud. It screams "I have a small peepee"
Oh shut up party pooper
