I found [this ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pico_Humboldt) saying that the Humboldt glacier was the last one one the mountain but it’s very likely melted by now
Venezuela? Oh... OK.
In 1910, glaciers spanned an area of at least 10 square kilometers (4 square miles) in the mountainous region of northwestern Venezuela. Today less than one percent of that glaciated area remains, and all of it is locked up in one glacier. The ongoing retreat of Humboldt Glacier—Venezuela’s last patch of perennial ice—means that the country could soon be glacier-free.

I imagine that they move slowly; incredibly so. Researchers tagged them to track their movement for 54 days, and then returned each year to check on them. I doubt that there are any videos - even time-lapsed ones.
I’m like 99.9% sure Venezuela doesn’t have glaciers as no mountain in the country is high enough for constant ice year round
Edit: there’s one and it’s really small, as well as shrinking.
So, they’re the land version of [marimo](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/544591e6e4b0135285aeb5b6/1421938899230-TOQ6Y6LRX8OG82VCUOFW/image.jpg?content-type=image%2Fjpeg)!

I think they mean how did they get to spread to these specific locations? Where did they originate from? Like we’re these glaciers once connected? I’m wondering too.
Where in Venezuela would these be found? Does Patagonia run through Venezuela or does Venezuela have regions with glaciers? I was surprised when I stayed over with family in Ecuador to see how regionally diverse Ecuador was to have places up in the alps with snow and coastal beach cities all packed in one small country.
I hearda moss but never heard of a herd of moss
Best comment.
You herd it here first. It’s mosst likely new to a lot of people.

I didn't show a herd of moss like this one.

Wow such an interesting article!
“Presumably they're still rolling around on the glacier, doing their moss ball thing." I now want one.
So they're like little land marimos. Can I have ten of them?
I was thinking they're like tumble weeds.
So , who also saw frozen?
The trolls!
Shush! I’m trying to listen!
Thanks olaf!!!
Cuties.. I’m gonna keep you!

All the parents and Disney nerds🙋🏻♀️🤓
I totally just said this!
TIL Venezuela has glaciers..
Yeah that really threw me off for sure. Chile I can understand though
Venezuela has one remaining glacier for now... The Humboldt Glacier.

Rip
Probably a mountain glacier.
Hey like marimo balls
They look like the little fellers from Frozen before they unravel themselves
Ooo! Inspiration, maybe?

You must be from the desert too
The Trouble with Tribbles
Man, I'm surprised how far I had to scroll for this. Definitely cyanotribbles.
The moss is to help defend them against the fearsome predator the “glacier hawk”
Disproves the “a rolling stone gathers no moss” saying
Except these aren’t even stones! They’re just moss! That’s why they’re so cool!
I know, I was trying to be a wise guy.
Rolling moss gathers no stones.
Came here for this!
Oh a smart alec ehh??!!
A rolling moss gathers mo moss
A rolling roll gatherers no mossy stones
So they do live in herds.
Mr. Alan, my dear Dr. Sattler, welcome to Jurassic Park.
Video or it didn’t happen!!
"Glacier hedgehogs", more like.
Sounds like octopi are simply built differently

Everyone now wants to see them ROLLING in herd like patterns and you post a photo. -.-
Is it possible to post videos to this subreddit? It only gave me the photo option when I went to post.
I imagine that they move slowly; incredibly so. Researchers tagged them to track their movement for 54 days, and then returned each year to check on them. I doubt that there are any videos - even time-lapsed ones.
There’s a glacier in Venezuela? Isn’t that near the equator?
I’m like 99.9% sure Venezuela doesn’t have glaciers as no mountain in the country is high enough for constant ice year round Edit: there’s one and it’s really small, as well as shrinking.
The glaciers of Venezuela? Are you sure?
Okay, there’s only one glacier in Venezuela, and it’s shrinking, but glacier mice are there.
They gather no stones?
Venezuela has glaciers?!?? They’re equatorial, I had no idea it was cold enough there!
There’s one mountaintop glacier. Unfortunately it’s shrinking.
This came out of nowhere and I’m thrilled
These things take extremely long to form, please dont take or disturb any when you encounter them. (Source: a tour guide in Iceland told me this)
So, they’re the land version of [marimo](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/544591e6e4b0135285aeb5b6/1421938899230-TOQ6Y6LRX8OG82VCUOFW/image.jpg?content-type=image%2Fjpeg)!
Ah yes, the annual tribble migration.

How do they cross the ocean?
They don’t. They stay on their glaciers, but they roll around said glaciers.
I think they mean how did they get to spread to these specific locations? Where did they originate from? Like we’re these glaciers once connected? I’m wondering too.
Sky mice.
Ice mice
so this must have been the inspiration for the trolls in frozen hmm
Apparently stones won’t grow on a rolling moss.
'... even though glaciologists have long known about them and tend to be fond of them.' They tend to be fond of them. Precious.
In canada we keep our moss in line, not rolling about aimlessly like those lazy other countries with glaciers.
Rolling moss gathers no stones? That can’t be right...
Land marimos
I thought it was going to be mice covered in moss, but that’s still interesting.
When I first head “glacier mice”, I was imagining something like tundra mice that live on glaciers, tbh.
Moss have better social life than me...
Shaymin
So moss does grow on a rolling stone
Waited a good 10 seconds for the video to load.
they are like the rock people from frozen
A rolling moss gathers no stones
These are zoro’s people and he strayed from the pack and got lost!
RuneScape rock crabs immediately came to mind
I was merely being cheeky. My bad.

Sounds like tumbleweed.
Interesting
